Part of the Big Tex breakfast

Duggummit if they have BREAKFAST AND LUNCH figured out. The Super Quesadilla "beefsteak" is so wow, and my brother ordered the BIG TEX BREAFAST is outstanding!!! Service is wonderful and fast "very welcoming". It's so spacious and neat here;)

Enchiladas Mexicanas (green sauce) with chicken and Enchiladas Texanas (red sauce) with ground beef ("picadillo"). Stick to the green!!!

3.5 stars! Super convenient drive-through. Food is good enough. Got takeout Enchiladas Texanas (red sauce) and chose ground beef (picadillo meat) and got Enchiladas Mexicanas (green sauce) and chose chicken. To keep this short, you want to get the green. Those taste good enough. The red with ground beef does not have a strong flavor. The closest thing I can compare the taste to is canned spaghetti that you might buy for a little kid. The enchiladas come with rice and beans, but do not come with salad or chips. If you want those, you have to order them separately. I added my own avocado from home. 3 little salsas come with the meal (see pics). I like spicy food, but go easy on the light green (hot) sauce. I put that on my food and all I could taste after was pepper.

Beef enchiladas, rice and beans, good.

I had the beef enchiladas with red sauce, rice and beans part of the lunch special. The rice and beans were standard, not bad, not great, and no real complaints. The enchiladas though tasted a little 'flat' as far as the beef inside goes. The red sauce was good though but I felt like the beef could have had more flavor. Also was surprised to see peas and corn on the inside of the enchilada mixed in with the beef. That's a new one for me. The tortilla chips and the salsa were very welcome and the salsa was excellent. I do like the selection of $9.99 lunch specials, always love to see a restaurant offer lunch choices.

    Door

Don't let the doors fool you!!! We came because the doors looked so nice and wanted some awesome food. Turns out the doors didn't mean anything.... The service was average little below average and our margaritas were both wrong orders. I rated it 2 stars for how fast we got our food and our server was a nice later but didn't talk to us much. Spruce out.

    Chili Relleno plate is fabulous!

Service was awesome and they are in the top ten for my quest for the perfect chili Relleno. Saucy saucy! Cheesy pleasy! The salsa is tasty and not very hot. This place is huge, and would be great for a gathering!

My partner and I had a great time here last night. We didn't wait for a table even though it was packed. They had live singers which was fun. I ordered the queso flameado con chorizo which was delicious. The cheese pull was wild! For the main I ordered enchiladas de mole. Absolutely amazing. The sauce was rich and had the perfect chile/chocolate balance. We also had the horchata which was very refreshing.

Well it's been 8 long years since we have come here...but I had to return on the recommendation from a friend as it's been totally revamped....service was good, a little slow but the place was jumping. Chips , salsaS and Queso hit the table. I feel all 3 Salsas have a bit of a bite to them...Green being my favorite. Wife went with the Enchilada Texanas and double rice. Ground beef was excellent and went well with the sauce...along with a few dashes of the bottled red sauce. She really enjoyed them! I had the Enchiladas Bandera which was delicious!...and we will say they Chiladas were fat and Loaded with cheese!! We both loved the rice and the beans were spot on!...Definitely will be back to try the vast menu.

Not sure why the reviews here are so low, but this place was delicious from the food, ambiance, to service. Our server was kind and the food comes out fast. The interior is super interesting with authentic decorations and music. They give you complimentary chips and salsa, and we ordered guac on the side to use for the chips and tacos. My favorite taco (i got the pastor, shrimp, and asada) was the asada- it had that charred grill flavor which was really tasty. I'd recommend using the darker green salsa because the light green salsa is super spicy in my opinion. Their tacos are rather under seasoned than over seasoned, but they do have salt, pepper, and extra hot sauce on every table. Their torta was huge and very tasty as well- i really liked their bun but it is too much for me to finish (its stuffed with a lot of ingredients). Overall i enjoyed my experience here! Also the price is really good here i mean 3.50$ for a taco is decent

Lunch special - 1 chicken enchilada, 1 crunchy beef taco with rice & beans. So good!

I've driven by El Alma many times being in the Austin area, but I never went until last Thursday, and after surviving a brief monsoon, I was glad to get a few drinks and eat some good TexMex with my large party just before a wedding. The best way to describe El Alma is that it is TexMex that is Austinified. Everything feels a little more unique and special than your classic TexMex options. I started off with a Mezcal Margarita that put a little hair on my chest and got me going. My group ordered two of their Nachitos, which were these nice nachos. For my main entrée, I got 3 Al Pastor tacos on corn with a side of their rice and beans. Their pastor was served with pineapples, onions, and cilantro with limes on the side. They were great and I immediately crushed them all. I thought their rice and beans were pretty good as well and a step above the typical TexMex rice and beans. The server was pretty attentive throughout our whole visit, and I honestly have no complaints about what they had to offer. Pricing on the meal and drinks was pretty standard for Austin, and I didn't think anything really took me out of the experience. On top of that, for being in Barton Springs, there is quite a bit of parking. I would love to come back at some point in the future and hang out on their rooftop bar because that seems like a lot of fun. Shoutout to El Alma for being a TexMex oasis saving me from the MoPac traffic. RIYL: TexMex, but better than your average

I have not found a taco place that was phenomenal until I tried this place! The vibes take you back to Mexico with authentic tacos served simple, straight forward, and let the taco speak for itself! We were downtown for a concert at the Moody Theater and were hungry so we decided to walk a short 9 mins to Taqueria De Diez! The best decision made! Full disclosure... the establishment is located down a very DARK creepy alley (the kind in the movies where you shouldn't go down to get) but after overcoming that fear... this will be the best decision you make! Your tummy will thank you! Follow the outside "TACO here" sign. Go through the door and walk straight... this will get you through the line. Lucky for us on a Saturday night at 10:30pm there wasn't a super long line. We managed to grab two seats to chow down our tacos. You will be able to see the chefs cook the carne asada on the grill and the Al pastor on the spit roast being cut to be put in tacos. The smell was amazing and you know you're at a legit place! Ordering: -Check out their menu while waiting in line so you know what to order when it's your turn. -place order at register. They accept visa, Mastercard, Venmo, cash, but does NOT accept AMEX. - grab your drinks if you purchased some. Mexica soda, horchata, jimicama drinks, water , etc - give your ticket to the expeditor and tell them to go or dine there. The expeditor will ask you cilantro, onions, and salsa on a taco? Say yes. It's a must. The expeditor will tell the chefs to assemble your tacos. (I'm seriously so impress with how efficient and quick their service goes. We waited maybe 5-10 mins and got 5 tacos and chips/salsa. There was about 8 ppl in front of us but the lines go quick. If you ordered chips and salsa then you will get the chips from the cashier and the salsa from the expeditor. * 1 Al pastor taco on flour 4/5: love the fresh pineapples on it! The Al pastor had crispy pieces and was super tasty! It was really tasty. There were pieces of meat that was dry but the salsa helped and pineapple. Season was really good! I was in awed with how tasty it is! Definitely best Al pastor in ATXi had! * 1 Campechano on flour 5/5: wow best of both worlds! I had this taco second and loved the combo flavor! Juiciness of the carne asada and crispy frol the Al pastor. * carne asada on flour 5/5: juicy perfectly seasoned and love the green sauce on it! Sauce was creamy and paired well with the taco. It was so so freaking good! The flour tortilla is super thin and let the meats stand out. Loaded Smokey taco and was differently the best carne asada I've ever had! After trying the carne asada I definitely think it's better than Al pastor! I'm glad I tried the Al pastor taco first before the carne because I think the carne asada would have outshine the Al pastor if I had it first. It was a great end to the last taco! * 1 VOLCAN- couldn't try because it was sold out * chips and salsa 4/5: chips crispy and not oily. Salsa was super spicy but good. All tacos come with onions cilantro and salsa with no additional cost. Overall do I recommend this place? I truly wish I tried this place 5 yrs ago when I moved to ATX! I truly highly recommend this place! Do not wait 5 yrs to go try this place or you will be full of regrets! It's a simple taco but made right with complex balance and flavors! I love love love it and now will be thinking about these tacos! Highly recommended! Prices are reasonable and the tacos are made with love!
