From the moment you arrive at Taqueria Guadalajara, there's already a lot going on--from the decadent entry doors, to the colorful hand-painted chair backs, to the lively chatter. It's not the most polished spot in town, but it's definitely perfect for a casual meal, especially post-night out. I went for the Torta Al Pastor, which was YUM. If you're unfamiliar with a torta, think of it as a Mexican hoagie, but better. The bread was perfectly toasted, and the al pastor was seasoned and grilled to perfection (SHOUT OUT TO THE BURNT ENDS). The portions are generous--my meal lasted for two sittings. Be sure to ask for extra salsa; the messier and spicier, the better! I wouldn't come here to impress anyone, but if you ever find yourself on the north side of town, it's worth a visit if you're looking for a no frills tex-mex spot that includes free chips and salsa. read more

Got takeout Enchiladas Texanas (red sauce) and chose ground beef (picadillo meat) and got Enchiladas Mexicanas (green sauce) and chose chicken. To keep this short, you want to get the green. Those taste good enough. The red with ground beef does not have a strong flavor. The closest thing I can compare the taste to is canned spaghetti that you might buy for a little kid. The enchiladas come with rice and beans, but do not come with salad or chips. If you want those, you have to order them separately. I added my own avocado from home. 3 little salsas come with the meal (see pics). I like spicy food, but go easy on the light green (hot) sauce. I had the beef enchiladas with red sauce, rice and beans part of the lunch special. The rice and beans were standard, not bad, not great, and no real complaints. The enchiladas though tasted a little 'flat' as far as the beef inside goes. The red sauce was good though but I felt like the beef could have had more flavor. Also was surprised to see peas and corn on the inside of the enchilada mixed in with the beef. That's a new one for me. The tortilla chips and the salsa were very welcome and the salsa was excellent. Very disappointed with customer service the girls there are not nice at all and you can tell they don't care about the service that they give. I was a bit sad about the food as well. I expected a lot lot more out of a restaurant. If you come here don't expect much from them. It's basically overpriced food with not a lot of food in the meal. I ordered the supreme nachos expecting it to be similar to an order that I usually get back in Vegas and all I got was a bunch of chips, choice of meat, guacamole, bean, jalapenos, and sour cream. I do want to add that their Horchata was amazing but they should definitely incorporate more cheese, tomatoes or even lettuce to the supreme nacho meal to make it more filling and appealing to a customer. read more

This place is called Los Braseros Mexican Restuarant. It's no longer Guadalajara. It was recommended to me as Guadalajara so maybe the person has not been here in a while and didn't know. Service was good, about what you would expect from a Mexican restaurant. Ambiance was a tad gimmicky for me, but I think that's normal to the States and tourism in the city. Food was sub-par, though. I ordered the carnitas chili verde and a side order chili relleno. The chili relleno was very different from what I am used to. It was heavily sau ed in a sweet tomato red sauce. Not bad, but I was not expecting that. Kudos, though. It was stemmed and seeded which is a rare treat thee days. The chili verde was very very salty and that's all I could taste. The tortillas were beyond warmed. They were hard like a chip. Could noteat them. If you're looking for a quick mexican meal, go for it. But for me it was not a standout at all. I ordered the queso flameado con chorizo which was delicious. The cheese pull was wild! For the main I ordered enchiladas de mole. Absolutely amazing. Well it's been 8 long years since we have come here...but I had to return on the recommendation from a friend as it's been totally revamped....service was good, a little slow but the place was jumping. Chips , salsaS and Queso hit the table. I feel all 3 Salsas have a bit of a bite to them...Green being my favorite. Wife went with the Enchilada Texanas and double rice. Ground beef was excellent and went well with the sauce...along with a few dashes of the bottled red sauce. She really enjoyed them! I had the Enchiladas Bandera which was delicious!...and we will say they Chiladas were fat and Loaded with cheese!! Not sure why the reviews here are so low, but this place was delicious from the food, ambiance, to service. Our server was kind and the food comes out fast. The interior is super interesting with authentic decorations and music. They give you complimentary chips and salsa, and we ordered guac on the side to use for the chips and tacos. My favorite taco (i got the pastor, shrimp, and asada) was the asada- it had that charred grill flavor which was really tasty. I'd recommend using the darker green salsa because the light green salsa is super spicy in my opinion. Their tacos are rather under seasoned than over seasoned, but they do have salt, pepper, and extra hot sauce on every table. Their torta was huge and very tasty as well- i really liked their bun but it is too much for me to finish (its stuffed with a lot of ingredients). Overall i enjoyed my experience here! They were not what I expected. One was TexMex with orange cheese (maybe American cheese?), the middle one was a green enchilada, and the last one was a white tortilla with nacho sauce on top. Or at least it tasted like that. I only ate the first two enchiladas and sides. I didn't like that the cheese tasted like American Kraft cheese. At least use Cheddar? My partner ordered the chimichanga. The filling was ground beef and peas. Not sure why? He thought it was okay as we were just hungry. Sides were better. When in North Austin, eat at Taqueria Guadalajara because it got 5 stars by me and my partner and we're from Corpus Christi! First of all get the chilé con queso compuesto appetizer dip! This was the best chilé con queso we ever ate! The picadillo meat in the dip was so flavorful and delish. It did not make it greasy at all! We also had a quesadilla app, I chose chicken fajita but it was more like shredded chicken, so get beef fajita quesadilla instead! I ordered the bacon burger w cheese and it was extremely delicious. My partner had the enchiladas supremas and that is what I am gonna order next time with picadillo meat. He had them w beef fajita and were scrumptious! The refied beans were the best I ever tasted. I like refried beans made like Taqueria Guadalajara made them. #creamy The Spanish rice also got my A+ approval. The chips and salsa were to die for. The salsa is seasoned to perfection! We did not drink liquor but the bar was packed. The whole restaurant was packed at 11pm on a Tuesday! The service was excellent. And the price was right: chilé con queso app, quesadilla app, bacon cheese burger w fries, enchilada suprema plate, 2 teas for $46 not including tip. While the Mexican restaurant boasted tasty dishes, the experience was marred by excessively loud music that made conversation difficult. Despite being told a 20-minute wait, I found myself waiting for over an hour and 20 minutes for a seat, which significantly detracted from the overall experience. Me and my family of 6 waited and when we finally got sat we got sat next to the speakers blaring in our ears. With my 3 year old son. I felt stuck as to nothing I could've done but sit and just eat and leave. Me and my family were frustrated.
