I'm surprised that this is one of the few bubble tea stores that have made it throughout all the years and changes in bubble tea. bubble tea, chains and shops have been so competitive the past 15 years. I've seen many come and go and am surprised that this is one that is staying. This is a grabbing bubble tea shop. And it's pretty mediocre. Sometimes you get hard bubbles. I've been craving for TBaar and only saw Kung Fu Tea open during covid so you can say I was super excited. I got my usual, medium red bean smoothie- yummy!~ I was the only customer at the time. I believe there are three or more locations of Tbaar on 8th Avenue, so it is hard to miss if you are in the area. I hope that they expand soon to Manhattan. The employees are really nice, and they have been well staffed all the times that I have been. Your tea is usually ready within seconds. Check the seasonal specials, make sure that you get a deal on your Birthday or if you have a student ID card, and also get a frequent buyer card. Their teas are so delicious because they are natural tasting and not very sweet. Some other places make teas too sweet for my liking, but Tbaar uses strong brewed tea as well as natural flavors to give a more unique taste. I am giving them five stars because everytime I have gotten tea here, it has been exceptional. The base is usually red and jasmine green tea. There are so many flavors that I want to try. So far, my favorite has been their new Lime Green Tea, with fresh squeezed limes and I like to add fruit jelly. I also want to try their red bean and pistachio flavors. They do not yet have one of my favorite flavors; grapefruit. The locations are counter ordering with no seating. I wish there were more sit-down bubble tea houses in the area that also serve snacks...not just bakeries with lame powder teas. read more

Best cold drinks on 8ave! Probably iI'm biased cause I'm from Taiwan but u have unique drinks here . I love their Virgo smooties! Never watered down. Passionfruit, pineapple, I think mango and something else. They use actual fruit in the smooties. I have tried the green tea red bean, it taste fine, definity not the flavor in Taiwan, but decent. I never come here during after school time frame, there are so many junior high school kids here. I think this corner is their unoffical hang out spot. read more

They're extremely busy today since it's hot out so I wouldn't blame them for being somewhat unorganized. One thing they can definitely do is try to establish a line for ordering. A lady tried to cut in front of me. Ruuude. I ordered a medium iced oolong tea with half sugar and it was great. I paid $2.50 for it, which is actually a little expensive, but still worth it. I've walked by this place loads of times, but it was usually mobbed with teenagers, so I never went in. Boy, was I missing some good stuff. I'm so glad I finally stopped in before the hot weather really hits. It's all drinks. Hot drinks, cold drinks, bubble teas, milk shakes, smoothies, ice coffee....all good. It seems like it's all very young (teens) servers there, but they are very polite, and they seem to actually enjoy working there. Their friends like to hang out there as well. They have cards that encourage you to buy five drinks ($2 and up) and you get the next one free! Yeah! If you're not into chewing on tapioca balls, I suggest one of the zodiac smoothies. The scorpio one is really good, but then I'm a scorpio. I'm sure the other signs do just as well. The website even has a silly Tetris style game with lots of smiley faces. This place brings nostalgia! Around the spring and fall of 2012, I used to come here all the time after SHSAT prep with friends. I love bubble tea! Even though Tbaar is more mainstream, it doesn't fail to satisfy my boba desires. The people here are okay. (There's usually a girl behind the counter and two other guys in the background) Don't expect to hang around long because it's a very cramped space. It's not a shocker if you see LOTS of school kids because it's literally almost next to a school. There are about 3+ other schools that's around too, but not as close. Now, to the bubble tea.. I think the quality is actually better in this location compared to the 2 Tbaars at Fort Hamilton and further left/down 8 avenue. The bubbles are smaller and much more chewy. When ever I go, the bubbles are almost NEVER frozen and crusty. I WANT MY BUBBLES TO BE PRECISE. I always order the watermelon milkshake (I can't in the winter/fall time), strawberry milkshake, taro bubbletea, occasionally the coffee, and of course the milk tea. I tried the mango bubble tea thingy and it was meh. Don't bite on the straws because it breaks easily. read more

This store front is much bigger than the smaller hole in the wall location a few blocks away. They have every variety imaginable in a smoothie, slushie, or just a simple drink. The bubble is extra, but if you're a student then you get about $0.50 off. The staff are generally young and nice. I often order the Peach slushie, Peach and Strawberry smoothie, and I got a Magic Mocha too. I am not sure if they use fresh ingredients, but it tastes good and it's cheap so I don't care. I minused a few stars because my smoothies was not completely crushed and there were slightly large chunks of ice, so my final rating - 3.5. They also serve meat on a stick snacks for cheap because I saw someone ordering it and I thought they only make drinks here. Don't forget your stamp card. My beau and I went pub crawling for Bubble Tea the other days and stumbled upon Tbaar. He had a Mocha Bubble Tea and I my regular Honey Green Tea Bubble Tea. The Mocha one was decent (had a pinch too much of expresso flavor) but I loved my Honey Green tea selection. The pearls tasted fresh and were chewy and slightly sweet. Actually, the perfect touch of sweet! I was very pleased and i'm looking forward to test tasting the others! (we then passed by Quckie Bubble Tea. OMG...were those tea's horrible!! My bf had the Coconut one and I had the Chocolate flavor. Non tasted like they were supposed to. The coconut one tasted like some odd hot milked tea and the chocolate one was just not chocolatey. Although the place is kind of small, they provide fast service and they even give you discounts if you show them your Student I.D. If there's anything that annoys more more than watery iced coffee, its watery bubble tea! Never been a huge fan of the stuff, but especially when they pour hot tea over ice cubes so you get nothing but luke warm-ness, ugh! Both of our teas were quite watery and tepid. Tasty middle-priced bubble teas, coffees & smoothies from fresh veggies/fruits. Love the TV screens and bright green walls :) but what happened with the floor? It was so dirty, that I felt outside sidewalk is better for my suede booties. Also I wish the owner requested the employees to tie/braid their hair. The girls were super nice & quick, but I wish their long gorgeous hair wouldn't fly around since they are working with food. All in all, it's great little bubble tea place. Fast service. Offer milk tea and fresh juice products. Price is a bit higher than other places on 8th avenue but not a big deal. No seating. So only takeout. Ordered new product: hot green tea milk tea with red bean and jelly. Interesting flavor with the clear and a bit bitter taste from the jelly. But generally not bad taste. A bit sweet because of the red bean. A 3.5 star for the speed and taste. read more

I actually frequent the Eldridge Street branch, which doesn't seem to have a Yelp page... So I thought I'd write my review here, since it's the same company. Anyways, with my limited budget, their $2 regular Bubble Milk Tea and $2.25 (after a 50 cent student discount) Bubble Milk Green Tea are live-saving. Normally you would have to sacrifice taste in order to get such a good price, but I can honestly say that so far TBaar has been the only place where I've gotten consistently good-tasting milk tea for so little dough. Although their milk tea is not as good as the more expensive stores like TKettle or Saint's Alp, for this price, TBaar is as good as it gets! Hence, 5 stars! read more

Talk about dubious marketing. There are no prices listed on their extensive menus. Then when asked about the price of a bubble tea, they tell you that it's $1.75. Wow, pretty cheap for bubble tea (or so I thought). They have these 50c student discount plastered everywhere. I overheard this girl ask about it and they tell you that it's not offered because the price is $1.75. I took that to mean that $1.75 may be a current promo. I ordered a cup of green apple green tea with pearls and was told that it would be $2.75. (Not sure how the price went from $1.75 to $2.75). The girl before me ordered the same and the girl behind the counter was SO sneaky. She OBVIOUSLY knew that the customer is a student as she enquired about the student discount (which she said was not available). Then blatantly told the girl her tea would be $2.75. Upon questioning about the student discount again, she then asked to see ID and adjusted the price to $2.50. I notice a lot of people getting some sort of loyalty card stamped. When the girl before me asked about it, she was told that the student prices were not applicable (even though it seemed to me that all the others getting theirs stamped were also benefitting from the student prices). Anyway the drink wasn't great. The syrup was TOO sweet. I had to ask for more ice and tea to get it diluted. The pearls were soft and lumpy, not chewy. This place sucks. The drinks taste bad and you can only get the 50 cents student discount on drinks over $2.50 BUT there are no signs anywhere that informs the customer of that. Only huge signs everywhere saying "student discount 50 cents". Of course she didn't tell me until she started making my drink. I ordered the matcha latte which was HOT... other places, like ten rens, offer it cold. Of course she fails to mention it is hot even though I wanted it cold. Plus tapica costs 50 cents extra.. what kind of bubble tea place charges extra for tapioca?!?! wtf?!??! My brother's taro milk tea was also shitty. It was watered down and had an almond aftertaste like she didn't wash her mixing cup or something. Yes, quickly's is watered down too but this one was much worse. Last summer I used to stop by here after work for a smoothie. I haven't come here as much since this summer started but I was a frequent customer last summer. Their smoothies are great, and I found my friend and I trying out all the constellation drinks because it looked interesting. We tried the bubble milk tea here and didn't like it, but we liked the fact that after every 5 drinks you get 1 free. For smoothies, this is the definitely where we would come for a drink. Love its creashed ice with red beans... they offer a buy drinks for 5 times and get one drink for free deal. Or if you have a student ID, you can even get 50cents off for a drink over $2.75. Small corner shop with a wide variety if teas for a low price. Nice touch is their punch card which gives you a free drink after the 5 or 6th purchase. My favorite bubble tea would have to be the Passion Fruit. Absolutely amazing!! Their orange/mango smoothie is also very refreshing and tasty. Highly recommend a visit to T-baar. read more

I've had a really hard time finding a bubble tea place to match my college favorite and T Baar comes close. My teenage sister loves this place so my mom and I checked it out and it's so worth it. It is indeed staffed and usually patronized by teenagers but if you catch the place empty you should definitely give it a shot. My sister gets the strawberry banana milkshake, my mom is a fan of the Capricorn and I tried the pineapple smoothie. I was disappointed I didn't get any tapioca balls in my smoothie but it's fine I know to ask next time. And they have a frequent flier card! One of the best places to get bubble tea. I used to think T Baar was expensive as opposed to other local bubble tea joints, but slowly each and every other bubble tea store has raised it's prices to be somewhere around the same ball park as T Baar is in. However, T Baar's bubble tea is of a much higher quality, so that would justify the higher price regardless. They use real fruits, beans, etc as opposed to just powder and ice. This is a hole in the wall-that makes some great smoothies. I usually get pineapple with jelly-and it's very refreshing and cooling. The staff is quick. There is no seating just a walk up counter with vibrant colors and good prices. read more
