    The amazing lime green tea
    Coty S.

I believe there are three or more locations of Tbaar on 8th Avenue, so it is hard to miss if you are in the area. I hope that they expand soon to Manhattan. The employees are really nice, and they have been well staffed all the times that I have been. Your tea is usually ready within seconds. Check the seasonal specials, make sure that you get a deal on your Birthday or if you have a student ID card, and also get a frequent buyer card. Their teas are so delicious because they are natural tasting and not very sweet. Some other places make teas too sweet for my liking, but Tbaar uses strong brewed tea as well as natural flavors to give a more unique taste. I am giving them five stars because everytime I have gotten tea here, it has been exceptional. The base is usually red and jasmine green tea. There are so many flavors that I want to try. So far, my favorite has been their new Lime Green Tea, with fresh squeezed limes and I like to add fruit jelly. I also want to try their red bean and pistachio flavors. They do not yet have one of my favorite flavors; grapefruit. The locations are counter ordering with no seating. I wish there were more sit-down bubble tea houses in the area that also serve snacks...not just bakeries with lame powder teas.

Medium Oolong Tea w/ Half Sugar

They're extremely busy today since it's hot out so I wouldn't blame them for being somewhat unorganized. One thing they can definitely do is try to establish a line for ordering. A lady tried to cut in front of me. Ruuude. I ordered a medium iced oolong tea with half sugar and it was great. I paid $2.50 for it, which is actually a little expensive, but still worth it. Despite them being busy, my order came out in a good amount of time - 3-5 minutes maybe? I love the oolong tea!

This place has to have the worst customer service possible. I'd rather walk the distance & go to the further one on 61st street.

BTW, their bakery is catercorner from the restaurant and absolutely worth a visit. Inside, the decor is simple-not Spartan-comfortable and functional. The tables are spaced nicely to provide privacy for each group. The evening that we were there, the sound level was comfortable. We could easily have a conversation around the large table. Our main server Lizzy was great. She has an amazing energy and smile that is so inviting. You're already enjoying dinner before you even order. We were 6 people and so we could order a wide variety of dishes. Some of my favorites were the scallion pancakes, lobster rice rolls, clam and basil and marinated cucumbers. There are enough choices for a vegetarian, pescatarian, but not for a vegan. We walked out satisfied and really happy. And then walked across the street to the bakery!

The offering is very tasty Chinese food that executes the flavors and techniques well, while also fitting into the Brooklyn atmosphere of service and vibes. Marinated Cucumber - Pays homage to a very home style marinade that is boullion forward; the roe and fried onions add significant texture and color that give the otherwise simple dish a lot of life. Pan Griddled Buns - Classic street food comfort elevated in both flavor and presentation; the buns have a crisp texture on the outside with an impressive amount of soup inside. The chili flavor and crunchies on top help elevate this dish as well. Boba Pancakes - Intensely sugar forward dish perfect for those with a sweet tooth. The pancake is fluffy and absorbant, and is the perfect medium to consume with that tender brown sugar boba. The oolong whipped cream is a light contrast, and the subtle notes of the tea are distinctly tastable. Hibiscus Iced Tea - Beautifully decorated with both a lychee and candied flower to make this a worthwhile cocktail. I like the subtle flavors of the tea and lychee blend that make it restrained and not too overpowering. Green Tea Shot - Fantastic petite sized cocktail that has a soothing blend of easy to palette flavors. I think this could honestly work well mixed in this Hibiscus Iced Tea. Faves at our dinner table were the cold sesame noodles, wontons, and pork jowl. IMO you don't need the fried rice so just get the jowl as an app, not a protein add-on. I wished the BDSM chicken had more dark meat, but it was also really well fried and flavored. My husband and I also both wished the fried tofu app fully went stinky tofu, but I get why that's not on the menu here. Pork hock croquette was just ok and the huadiao egg tofu could've been better served over rice vs with wonton chips. Pea shoots were solid but it's hard to mess that up. Husband wished the wontons were in more of a chili oil than the sesame sauce but the wontons themselves were really delicious. Want to try 886 next time!

The flavors are nothing too extravagant or exciting but it is a quick lunch spot that is easy to order from.
