It comes with a black pepper sauce that's slightly sweet kind of like A1 sauce, which I wouldn't be surprised if they actually use as a base. Came here with friends to try their dinner menu! I got their spaghetti and steak. I ordered medium rare. 5/5- the steak was very good! They didn't overcook it and it was perfect. We got seated and got to ordering! We got the sirloin steak with black pepper sauce, XO Braised beef over rice and spicy wontons. Overall, it was still great as the flavor was just on the lighter side. The spicy wonton lived up to it's name being spicy but if you love wonton, you'll love this. I love this restaurant's black pepper steak. When I get steak to go, I usually get that or the braised beef stew over rice. The portion size is big and it comes with a cup of pig bone soup that is very milky in color (lots of collagen and very tasty). When I dine in, I usually get the sizzling plate steaks or lamb chops. When they pour the black pepper sauce over meat, the sizzling makes the experience and food taste so much better. Fu Shen Restaurant has hands down the best Taiwanese black pepper steak and pork chops I've ever had, though I don't think you could go wrong with anything here. We came here the other day to try their black pepper pork chop and ended up ordering the black pepper pork chop, black pepper sirloin steak, and stir-fried noodles with hot and spicy beef. The black pepper pork chop and black pepper sirloin steak both came with complementary slices of baked bread (not garlic bread!) and a small bowl of honeydew iceberg lettuce salad, doused in thousand island dressing, while the stir-fried noodles came with a bowl of soup. All three dishes were exceptionally well-executed and the service was fast, friendly and attentive, contrary to what some of the other reviews have stated. When ordering, our server asked whether we wanted a single thick cut of meat, or two relatively thinner cuts of meat, and we opted for the latter. Immediately after placing our orders, we were hit with baked bread and salad, and shortly after, the steak and pork chop themselves, which arrived in sizzling platters covered with a cloche. Before opening the cloche/dome, our server unfolded a napkin and motioned for us to hold it in front of ourselves so that the spatter wouldn't get all over our clothes--a very sweet and thoughtful gesture, might I add! Today I ordered take out, but couldn't find a parking. Called and kindly asked if they could walk 50ft ahead of the store, it was around 11:00am. They refused. They said, they could only do in front of their store, and not even 1 more ft more than that. I walked in to pick up myself with my kids. To start off, overall great restaurant vibes, service is good and there is not a long wait time for food to be served. Their free appetizers include a cold mayo salad and some very warm and cozy tasting bread(With sweet butter drizzled on top I believe). We also ordered sweet potato fries as an appetizer too and it tastes phenomenal. It's not too sweet when you first bite down but once you start chewing, the sweet taste really amplifies. In person, the sweet potatoes looked like it came out straight from advertisements. Moving on to the actual steaks themselves, overall I enjoyed the Sirloin with black pepper. Ordered it medium rare and they didn't disappoint. The best part is that they serve it to you the moment it's done so you can hear it sizzling on the plate. The quality of the meat is ok as it tastes like any regular meat you'd buy from markets. For it to just be only about $26 I'd day that this place is great because they serve it with noodles, a sunny side up egg, and some vegetables, so it's a pretty balanced meal. The only problem I had was the black pepper sauce tasting too overwhelming on the noodles. I do wish they could let us dump the sauce on it ourselves like they did for my brothers' food but whatever. I came on a Saturday afternoon with a friend right before the lunch rush. When you walk in, they immediately ask for your vax card and theres also hamdsanitizer and lysol spray by the door. It was a bit bland, but thats the way the soup is meant to be. My stomach wasn't feeling that great so this was a good choice. If you want more flavor, would recommend asking for extra chives. I loved that they had radish in the soup and the ox rib was cooked perfectly, super tender. For $9, the amount of noodles was more than enough. I could barely finish. The iced coffee was super worth. Today is one of those days where some alone time is needed, not really alone since I have the baby. It's a windy cold day here in NYC and nothing better than a bowl of hot noodle soup to warm up. I treated myself to an order of Beef Cakes and a bowl of Satay Beef Noodles. First, let's talk about the noodles. You get a choice between several types of noodles, I chose mei fun. The feeling of warmth and comfort was just so satisfying when the steam of the broth fogged up my glasses. The aroma of the satay broth was nutty, the slices of beef were very tender and flavorful. Although the Beef Cakes were supposedly an appetizer, it came when I was half way into my noodles, well you can expect this to happen almost every time you're in Chinatown..... or did they just saved the best for last?! The Beef Cake is a fried dough with a beef patty inside. Guys, if you by chance do order the Beef Cakes, you have to setup first. Make sure you get some napkins ready to hold on to the cake and a plate under because the thing has sooo much juice that it drips and runs out immediately you break into it. It's also pipping hot, so eat with caution. I must say, it was tremendously delicious! Juicy, beefy, garlicky....just delicious! The only thing that could've made my experience perfect was that they don't serve you tea/water until you request for it.
