A quiet spot tucked just one avenue away from the busy 8th Ave, specializing in Taiwanese-style steaks. You can usually get steaks at Hong Kong cha chaan tengs, but the quality there isn't always great since their menus are huge and most people don't order steak. This place keeps things simple with a small, focused menu built around steaks, and it really shows. I ordered mine medium rare, and it was cooked perfectly. It comes with a black pepper sauce that's slightly sweet kind of like A1 sauce, which I wouldn't be surprised if they actually use as a base. The meal also includes toasted bread, a salad, a fried egg, and spaghetti for $23. It does feel a bit pricey, but the cut was good quality. Considering even places like Outback sometimes overcook or have tough steaks, if this spot can stay consistent like this visit, the price might be worth it for the quality and reliability.
Their black pepper steak over rice is really good! I highly recommend getting that. It comes with broth on the side is very filling. I also had my birthday here and the staff were very accommodating for how busy it was at the moment.
It's my second time eating here and it still wows me! Service is decent since mandarin is a dialect I don't speak fluently but grateful there's a waitress or two that's speak decent English. The steak is always cooked to perfection, IMO! We usually have the sauce on the side so we can taste the steak itself. Not a fan of having sauce drenched on the steak. I just wish they gave more veggies since the salad is always drenched with their dressing.
Came here for dinner after an ikea trip despite the barrage of negative reviews for the place and was pleasantly surprised. The place is small but the booths are big. We got seated and got to ordering! We got the sirloin steak with black pepper sauce, XO Braised beef over rice and spicy wontons. The food came rather quicker than expected, which is fantastic since we were famished. Our rice dish came out first. It was pretty good but I thought it would be more sauce on the meat and rice. Overall, it was still great as the flavor was just on the lighter side. The spicy wonton lived up to it's name being spicy but if you love wonton, you'll love this. The star of the show came out a few minutes after. All in all, took about 10 min for everything. The steak was a decent size and was cooked perfectly medium rare. Each bite was supremely tender and juicy. I now wish they had a size option so I could order a bigger steak. Overall, service was good and the food was great. Would come back to try the ribeye.
Pretty solid spot. I ordered from here twice. Once I dined in and the other time I ordered take out. I got the braised ox tail for takeout and it was pretty decent. It comes with soup and egg. The ox was good It was a little pricey compared to the other options around the area but was fair. The time I dined in I got their pepper steak and it was really good. Will definitely be coming back and ordering take out again from them but will probably stick with their black pepper steak/pork.
Food is good in portion, delicious marinated beef but the soup broth is kinda bland to me. Love the appetizer pancakes and the lychee tea is not too sweet. A must try spot when you come to China Town in Brooklyn.
I ordered Fu Shen for delivery many times and this was my first time going there to eat. The steak is smell & tastes amazing when it just out, not dry, juicy and flavorful. Also received a little note for the steak. It was cute. Atmosphere was great! Glad I bought cash cuz they only accept cash here.
The black pepper steak here is excellent and a solid value. They nailed the steak's cook perfectly, and the spaghetti and salad on the side were great additions. Definitely stick with the steak sauce -- the others are significantly not as good. The noodle soups were flavorful, but the pork chops were nothing special.
I love this restaurant's black pepper steak. When I get steak to go, I usually get that or the braised beef stew over rice. The portion size is big and it comes with a cup of pig bone soup that is very milky in color (lots of collagen and very tasty). When I dine in, I usually get the sizzling plate steaks or lamb chops. When they pour the black pepper sauce over meat, the sizzling makes the experience and food taste so much better. The sizzling plates come with a combo that includes bread, salad and spaghetti/rice so I think it's good value for the quality of the meat.
Would highly recommend the steak noodles! Meat was incredibly tender and sauce was amazing. Braised Ox noodles were more on the tough side and not as flavorful
I love this place, I always get the steak with tomato sauce with egg and spaghetti! It is a smaller place for seating but every time I go there's space. It always comes with complimentary salad and bread which is always nice. There is a wide range of drinks as well my go to is the passion fruit green tea. The service was very fast once I walk in I got sat down and they'll take my order when I'm ready and food came within 15 minutes,
Steaks are still delicious! Been enjoying their sizzling steaks with dine in service and it tastes way better than takeout. Service is quick. Restaurant is small but turnaround is quick. Love the complimentary tea!
Fu Shen Restaurant has hands down the best Taiwanese black pepper steak and pork chops I've ever had, though I don't think you could go wrong with anything here. We came here the other day to try their black pepper pork chop and ended up ordering the black pepper pork chop, black pepper sirloin steak, and stir-fried noodles with hot and spicy beef. The black pepper pork chop and black pepper sirloin steak both came with complementary slices of baked bread (not garlic bread!) and a small bowl of honeydew iceberg lettuce salad, doused in thousand island dressing, while the stir-fried noodles came with a bowl of soup. All three dishes were exceptionally well-executed and the service was fast, friendly and attentive, contrary to what some of the other reviews have stated. When ordering, our server asked whether we wanted a single thick cut of meat, or two relatively thinner cuts of meat, and we opted for the latter. Immediately after placing our orders, we were hit with baked bread and salad, and shortly after, the steak and pork chop themselves, which arrived in sizzling platters covered with a cloche. Before opening the cloche/dome, our server unfolded a napkin and motioned for us to hold it in front of ourselves so that the spatter wouldn't get all over our clothes--a very sweet and thoughtful gesture, might I add! Of everything, the sirloin steak was the best--the black pepper sauce was rich, earthy, and aromatic and the cut was so so tender--absolutely delicious! The stir-fried noodles with hot and spicy beef were good too and really packed a mala (spicy, mouth-numbing) flavor. Highly recommend this place! I can't wait to come back and try some of their other dishes as well!
Surprised the ratings aren't higher for this very family-friendly steak restaurant with such reasonable prices! Came here with the kids after hanging out at the indoor play space around the corner, and we were pleasantly surprised. The $30 sizzling sirloin steak and beef fried rice are a must -- both were so flavorful and the steak was perfectly tender. What makes this place especially great for a family outing is that they also have options for picky eaters. We tried the fried nuggets and French fries, as well as the spaghetti and meatballs, and honestly, both tasted amazing! I also got the ox rib soup, which had a pretty strong wine smell and taste. If you like that flavor, you'll probably enjoy it, but I was hoping for more of the sweet daikon/radiah flavor. Still, the soup was very flavorful and enjoyable. A really nice surprise came at the end when they brought the bill with a bucket of lollipops for the kids and little inflatable Paw Patrol wrist balloons. Such a cute touch! The restaurant itself is small, with only one table that can accommodate up to 6 people, so I'd say it's ideal for a party of 4. I've been here a few times and it always hits the spot. The taiwanese steak is a must get, and I like mine medium rare. The black pepper sauce over spaghetti is also chef kiss! If you're looking for heat, I recommend the spicy beef noodles. It really packs a punch! I also love the kumquat lemon yogurt drink, it was refreshing and not too sweet. read more

Im not usually one to order steak, but it is must try here. 4.5/5 Black Pepper Sirloin Steak ($29)-- perfectly tender steak (I got it done Medium), flavorful black pepper sauce! Comes with a salad and warm toast as well! read more

Our favorite Taiwanese style steaks on hot iron plate. The combo is definitely worth it with the salad and bread it comes with. This place is definitely worth visiting if you are in the neighborhood. Bring cash since it's a cash only restaurant. read more

To start off, overall great restaurant vibes, service is good and there is not a long wait time for food to be served. Their free appetizers include a cold mayo salad and some very warm and cozy tasting bread(With sweet butter drizzled on top I believe). We also ordered sweet potato fries as an appetizer too and it tastes phenomenal. It's not too sweet when you first bite down but once you start chewing, the sweet taste really amplifies. In person, the sweet potatoes looked like it came out straight from advertisements. Moving on to the actual steaks themselves, overall I enjoyed the Sirloin with black pepper. Ordered it medium rare and they didn't disappoint. The best part is that they serve it to you the moment it's done so you can hear it sizzling on the plate. The quality of the meat is ok as it tastes like any regular meat you'd buy from markets. For it to just be only about $26 I'd day that this place is great because they serve it with noodles, a sunny side up egg, and some vegetables, so it's a pretty balanced meal. The only problem I had was the black pepper sauce tasting too overwhelming on the noodles. I do wish they could let us dump the sauce on it ourselves like they did for my brothers' food but whatever. Due to the strong taste of the sauce I wasn't able to taste more than six bites out of the pasta because I couldn't stomach the taste down. PS: Do be aware that sometimes they only take cash which was what happened to us. read more

And I came back for their steaks. Although their store was small, the inside was modern and well decorated. I enjoyed the cow theme. They even had cow videos on TV! As we ordered steak. After seeing the thumbs up on their menu and a friend's review, we got the Black Pepper Steak over White Rice ($10.95) and also the Black Pepper Sirloin Steak ($20.95). Right after ordering, we were hit with free salad, garlic bread, and not even 20 seconds in, the Black Pepper Steak over White Rice. It was to the point my boyfriend needed some time to analyze how in the world it came out so quick. Although the steak was only slightly hot, it was BOMB and full of black pepper aroma. So flavorful, more than I soon learned my Black Pepper Sirloin Steak was going to be. Not long after, the Black Pepper Sirloin Steak came in sizzling inside a covered lid. Like an American vs Chinese dish, I enjoyed my broccoli while my boyfriend had his bok choy. Although my dish didn't have much pasta, I was still full as the focus was more on their steak, which was a nice medium rare (could have been more red!). Both of our meats were so tender. Honestly, although not as nicely presented, the steak over rice was a fat bang for your buck. Definitely get that! This is a true hidden gem with great food and fast friendly service. I have been coming to the us location since it opened in 2017 and I have never been disappointed l. I always come for the steak and eggs on top of noddles. The presentation and execution of sizzling table side steak is underrated at this location and I wish to come back for many more years to come. read more
Quite dissapointed at this restaurant, I've ordered takeout before for the noodle and remembered it being pretty good... today I decided to come in for a dine in experience and was dissapointed in most if not all the dishes... the wonton in spicy oil (hung yau chow sau) was a watery mess with siracha on top... if anyone knows this dish it's suppose to be wonton in spicy chili oil... sans siracha and water.. I ate one and couldn't do anymore... the beef noodles portion was big for $9 but it was only okay... and my friend ordered the Taiwanese beef pepper steak... and the sauce was sweet ... not exactly what we were used to. I ordered take out from Fu Shen Restaurant two nights ago and I'm still thinking about how good the meal was. I ordered beef dishes over rice to share and I was pleasantly surprised to see them come with egg, vegetables, and a side of soup! Now that's what I call a meal. I also ordered a side of spicy wontons and beef cakes. Everything from this place tasted so great and the beef was so flavorful and tender. I'm definitely going to order from this restaurant again. read more
Came here for steak. Each steak came with salad, garlic bread & pasta. Place was small but service was excellent. Suggest to come early for short wait time. Ordered rib eye and T-bone steak. Both were pretty good. I got black pepper for the T-bone steak and bf got bbq for his ribeye. Both taste pretty good. Garlic bread was just okay, wish they used traditional style of garlic bread. This was more like bread with garlic sauce. Should of ordered one steak and something else. We were both very full & we ordered onion rings on top of that. Would come again. read more

Everything was great, service was good, food was good expect my friend's salmon he told me it was dry. But the two steak we order was perfectly cooked and made well. Would recommend this place, and especially the steaks. First two are steaks the second on is the Salmon. read more

I came on a Saturday afternoon with a friend right before the lunch rush. When you walk in, they immediately ask for your vax card and theres also hamdsanitizer and lysol spray by the door. We sat down and they gave us iced water in a big mug with a bendy straw (my favorite kind of straw). The water was lemon water, super refreshing. We ordered a black pepper steak over rice, the noodle soup with ox rib and an iced coffee. The steak came out first and omg it was amazing. The black pepper flavor was great and the egg was perfectly fried and runny. For the price, the amount of food was perfect. 10/10 dish (as im writing this, im waiting for 2 orders of this steak for takeout). The noodle soup was ok. It was a bit bland, but thats the way the soup is meant to be. My stomach wasn't feeling that great so this was a good choice. If you want more flavor, would recommend asking for extra chives. I loved that they had radish in the soup and the ox rib was cooked perfectly, super tender. For $9, the amount of noodles was more than enough. I could barely finish. The iced coffee was super worth. Best bang for your buck in the area at 2.50. It reminded me of Malaysian iced coffee. Next time I will definitely try the cast iron skillet steaks because they smelled absolutely divine. I was jealous of the other tables when I swear how good it looked. read more

Today is one of those days where some alone time is needed, not really alone since I have the baby. It's a windy cold day here in NYC and nothing better than a bowl of hot noodle soup to warm up. For moms like myself, finding a place to eat in the area is hard, a stroller does take up some space, but for this place, it isn't so bad. I treated myself to an order of Beef Cakes and a bowl of Satay Beef Noodles. First, let's talk about the noodles. You get a choice between several types of noodles, I chose mei fun. The feeling of warmth and comfort was just so satisfying when the steam of the broth fogged up my glasses. The aroma of the satay broth was nutty, the slices of beef were very tender and flavorful. Although the Beef Cakes were supposedly an appetizer, it came when I was half way into my noodles, well you can expect this to happen almost every time you're in Chinatown..... or did they just saved the best for last?! The Beef Cake is a fried dough with a beef patty inside. Guys, if you by chance do order the Beef Cakes, you have to setup first. Make sure you get some napkins ready to hold on to the cake and a plate under because the thing has sooo much juice that it drips and runs out immediately you break into it. It's also pipping hot, so eat with caution. I must say, it was tremendously delicious! Juicy, beefy, garlicky....just delicious! The only thing that could've made my experience perfect was that they don't serve you tea/water until you request for it. Which didn't bother me at all, and of course I am definitely coming back for more food! read more
