It's sad to see tiger sugar's glory days behind them. Once famed for their brown sugar drinks, newer bubble tea chains have overtaken the throne. Though it was tiger sugar that brought forth a new era of renewed interest in bubble tea, the long lines are gone and you rarely see people holding tiger sugar in their hands. This is especially the case at the 86th street location, where heytea is only less than half a block away and always bustling with activity. I happened to grab a drink from here today for old times sake but I was a little surprised and disappointed that their drinks menu was pretty much the same old. I didn't see anything innovative or a flavor that particularly called out to me. I decided on one of the brown sugar drinks since I've enjoyed those in the past. But drinking it now, it tastes quite boring in a one-dimensional way and just very heavy on the sweetness (even though I got the recommended fewer sugar amount). It tastes a bit lacking and unhealthy compared to heytea, Molly tea, jooy, etc. I think tiger sugar would really benefit from adding more matcha bevs or on their menu since matcha is extremely popular these days. I like that they now sell bakery goods to widen their scope but I have my doubts on how well those are doing. Ive been to this location quite a few times and it's usually pretty consistent. The store itself is much like the others, now it seems as if it has expanded a bit. The store is transitioning into a bakery/boba shop, much like the Flushing location, so their space is in flux. If you would like to get your rewards, the kiosk is the only way for now. I ordered my regular #4 and this time, the flavor wasn't as distinct as it usually is (still better than everyone else, lol). Hopefully things smooth out in the near future. read more

I visit this location pretty frequently with my partner and we are mostly happy with the drinks at Tiger Sugar. Really happy that there's a location close to home and that the drinks are better than most boba locations. I would definitely put this on my top 5 list of boba places. I had the chance to try the Tiger Mango last fall and thoroughly enjoyed it although it was pretty expensive for $8. I would recommend the signature brown sugar boba milk with pearls cream mousse and the one with tiger jelly. I would not recommend the Mochi bobo drink though. I really didn't like it as the mochi texture was not great and felt gloopy that i had to throw it out. Stick with the classics and you can't go wrong! read more

I'd also say their drinks are less "fatty" than the Flushing one - I didn't feel as bloated/heavy after drinking like I did at the Flushing branch. Probably not enough cream? If I'm getting TS though, I'm kinda here to get fat, but at the same time, I also feel less guilty receiving a lighter version hahhhh I always get the usual, but for the Brooklyn Yelp Elite event, I tried the #5 which is the regular but with pudding and it was DELICIOUS. Normally I love pudding anyway, but the pudding with the brown sugar swirl, the mousse, it just made the whole drink super creamy and smooth. I would omit the bubbles next time so that each sip is pure pudding without boba clogs in the straw. Bensonhurst is booming with boba & tea shops... lines are no longer insane, perhaps the hype has played out or just over saturated with competitions. Order by the window, follow the blue tape for 6 feet apart and wait for your number to pop up! Pick up & show your receipt! For this location, got the original signature (#1) and the tiger jelly (#2)... (PSA: they no longer have the Boba only or Pearl only version. It's now a combined). Definitely more ice, drinks are less sweet... but probably better for those who are concern about diabetes so this would be a better choice. For me, the Sunset Park location is still my fav! If I were to describe the flavor it was basically grass jelly + condensed & evaporated milk + steamed egg pudding. I'm writing this review on behalf on my mom, who is a big fan of Tiger Sugar since I have already made my opinions pretty clear on their brown sugar boba. We stopped by on a Sunday afternoon and was pretty surprised to see there was no line considering how many people showed up for their grand opening last weekend. My guess is the crowds migrated to Moge Tee a couple of blocks down for their GO promotion. My mom regularly orders from the Manhattan Tiger Sugar location so the basis of this review is contingent on her experiences there. She was a little disappointed with the inconsistencies at this location because of the amount of ice they put in her drink, which she claimed diluted the milk flavor considerably and rendered the drink bland. She did appreciate that the boba in her drink was warm, suggesting they were freshly made, and had a good chewy texture to them. read more

TLDR; This recently opened around my neighborhood and with renewed curiosity for their bubble tea hype, I decided to look for it and give it a go. Finding it was easy (as long as you have a phone and Google maps... And if you know their store front would be a black awning!) and with my luck, there was no line to order (just a short wait for getting the goods). So I ordered and it was quite pricey - $6 with tax for a standard cup of bubble tea and jelly (or maybe that's the normal price. I dunno, I don't often splurge on outside drinks). I ordered it hot and unlike other places, sugar levels are non-negotiable. When my order was available, I went up, gave the receipt to the cashier and got my drink. I took a few photos to show my friends and within seconds, I plunked the straw into the cup (honestly, this was one of the easier cups to put my straw into which is a plus already) and took my first sip of this infamous bubble tea. And honestly? I don't get the hype. The bubbles are softer than others and the size definitely made it easier to chew but in general, the tea was too sweet for my liking. For something I paid $6 for, I was kinda disappointed. I thought it was good but it didn't blow my mind like I had expected it to. Would I get it again? Probably not unless my friends who loves it wanted one. But if I were to pass by and craved milk tea? The tiger sugar here just opened up so I decided to give it a try. There was about 4 people in line which is tiny compared to the one I normally go to in flushing. I haven't been to the one in flushing after covid but I did not realized tiger sugar had items that differed far from their regular tiger sugar staple drink. I tried the espresso bubble milk and their most popular bubble milk with mousse. The Bubble milk with mousse tasted just like their other locations so they have that on point but I was not the biggest fan of the espresso flavor. The espresso flavor did not mix too well with the drink and stood out as an individual flavor in the drink rather than a smooth mixed taste.
