This was my first time trying bubble tea at Kung Fu Tea. After a shopping visit at Banana Factory Store, I was in the mood for something sweet. I usually go to Tiger Sugar but didn't feel like making the trek thus KFT was conveniently close. KFT does have a variety of teas: bubble, green milk and slushies and punch. The menu gives you the choice of how sweet you would like your tea. I was in the mood for the brown sugar milk bubble tea. I placed my order and paid, it's $5.50 plus tax for a medium bubble tea. In five minutes, my drink was ready. I shook it and took the first sip, really good. I did drink it outside due to limited space in the shop, it does get crowded due to small space. The staff that served me were polite and made good suggestions when customers were asking what to try, how sweet, etc. Does it beat Tiger Sugar? No, but it comes very close. read more

I've ordered ahead for bubble tea here via the app before and it took forever for them to make the drinks. Fast forward a few weeks to when I was placing an app order at a different KFT location, but I didn't realize it was still set to Bay Ridge. I realized my mistake as soon as I hit the order button but since there is no edit/cancel feature, I called them immediately. They said they couldn't refund me because they had already made my drink. I really find it hard to believe they could have made the drink THAT quickly. I tried explaining that I'm nowhere near that location (I was trying to order for a location in NJ), but they were not understanding at all. Really nice guy running the place, and a nice girl serving, and the lemon black tea was tasty and delicious and refreshing, while the Boba is good and squidgy and sweet just the way I like it. As NYC areas go, I'm partial to Bay Ridge and I'm partial to this location as well to some degree. I'll definitely come back here again in future. What to get: Lemon Black Tea With Tapioca! Called in my order as suggested. The drinks were ready when we arrived. It's a small place no seats. Drinks are good very customizable.

After ordering, I was instructed to wait outside to be called back in when my order was ready. I ordered Lychee Punch and Winter melon tea, both with tapioca. I was satisfied with the flavor of the teas, which were definitely standard and tasted natural. However, I didn't receive boba with any of my drinks. I am extremely disappointed with the quality of service, because I clearly asked for tapioca, and it was even on the label. I waited for a while, and there wasn't a line, so they should have had enough time to make my order. I don't think I will be coming back to Kung Fu Tea. read more

This is the only bubble tea shop in the area, and as a result, they often run out of ingredients towards the end of the day. The quality of drinks here is pretty similar to other KFTs I've been to. My first visit here was mid-day, and the Honey Oolong Milk Tea I ordered was amazing. The Oolong flavor was so strong and fragrant. Today, I ordered the same thing with the Oolong Tea Jelly. My boyfriend ordered right after me, and the cashier told him that my order used up the last of the Oolong. When I got back and tried my drink, I realized they probably didn't have enough for mine either. My drink tasted very milky and didn't have a strong tea flavor. However, they did give me a generous heaping of oolong tea jelly to make up for it. In the future, I would probably avoid going towards the end of the day because I felt that the quality of my drink was compromised by the lack of supplies. read more

They have $8 minimum on card. I purchased the same drink yesterday (dec 7th) that I was going to get today as well. The guy at the register said he couldn't swipe my card. I told him go ahead, I don't mind paying for the 30cents fee, they did the same thing yesterday. He said he can't, I'm like why, they did it yesterday. I was gonna reach for my phone to show him the transaction and there was a lady(tall, skinny, Asian with a short, bob hair cut) coming out yelling at me, asking me why I was giving a hard time for the cashier, he is new and she was telling me all type of nasty things in front of everyone (it was 4pm on a Wednesday). I got my drink and the same yelling lady gave me the drink, confronting me again with the same questions and yelling at me. I asked her why she is yelling and what was her name. She refused to tell me her name but she claimed she was the owner. She said I shouldn't come back here anymore. She repeated it two more times after that. Well if she's the owner, good luck but people won't tolerate this kinda behavior, verbally attacking the customer. Delicious Taro Milk Tea with bubbles. Very polite service. I recommend it for the product, but mostly if you're "on the go" because seating is not great here. There are a good number of barstool style seats around an l-shaped front of the store, but the signs in the window prevent light from entering and people-watching by those inside. It is unfortunate that they do not have wifi available. While the seating area is not expansive, it might make the place look a bit livelier if people could remain and be productive on a laptop as was my intention when I stopped by. read more

Usually their teas are very good and I'm very happy with their service but something happened just now I'm and admittedly very annoyed. I placed an order and my boyfriend went to pick it up for me. When he walked away from the shop the cup burst. It was cracked in two places so I told him to return to the shop to explain the situation and ask them for another one if not we would've paid seeing as how it wasn't expensive. They were hesitant and even tried to insinuate that he broke it on purpose to get another one but ended up giving him a new one anyways. He was grateful and left with it. He took 2 steps outside and the cup burst again right in front of the shop in clear view of the workers and they refused to give him another one even though it's their fault for having faulty cups. I didn't even knew this location opened until my sister mentioned it the other day. It is a small store and can be easily missed. My sister drove me here and I ordered her drink, as well as mines. When I went in, there was only one employee that was working and I was the only one there. So, there wasn't much of a wait! SO YAY! She had the Green Milk Tea with Lychee Jelly and I had the Jasmine Oolong with Lychee Jelly. Jelly is so much better than boba. None of that chewiness! It tasted so goood! My sister didn't like my Jasmine Oolong as it is a little bitter, but I liked it. Hers was more sweet. If you like sweet drinks, try the Green Milk Tea with Lychee Jelly. If you're more like a bitter person like me (Don't worry, I'm not bitter at all!), try the Jasmine Oolong with Lychee Jelly. The pricing is the same as other locations and tasted the same. I stumbled upon this one while walking to the post office nearby, and I am sooooooo glad they opened a Kung Fu Tea in Bay Ridge!!!! They have the best bubble tea hands down! My favorite is the Taro Milk Green Tea (lavender color) with bubbles (tapioca balls...tastes like a semi sweet gummy bear...best that I can describe lol) You also have the option of getting it as just the drink and without the bubbles (or especially in the winter time, getting it warm). You have many many choices for your drink such as: amount of sugar/sweetness, amount of ice/room temp, mix in condiments like the bubbles/other jelly. Choose from two sizes: Medium or Large. Price is reasonable. Good amount of seating inside. Friendly workers. This location has a few pastries to choose from. Very refreshing, fresh, healthy taste, and not overwhelmingly sweet. These are my absolute favorite snack and they match so well with the atomosphere of the place and the drinks. I was really surprised to see this opened up in Bay Ridge! It's kind of tucked away on 5th avenue in between some of the restaurants on this block so it could be missed pretty easily. Look for the big banner! I have to say, although I was pretty disappointed with the pricing and speed of service, it's nice to have a bubble tea place near by! They didn't have the drink punch cards (buy 9 get 1 free) like a lot of the other locations do. I had to wait a good 10 minutes for my two drinks and I was the only one waiting for a drink...
