This review is for the space and the staff. On the roof of the AC Hotel, this hidden gem is a nice space for chilling and enjoying the outdoor vibes. AC Hotel is part of the Marriott Brand. When we walked through the lobby we were greeted by the friendliest staff member offering complimentary Sangria and gourmet popcorn. She gave us directions to the rooftop venue and told us about the hotel itself. Parking is free in the hotel after 4:00pm.

It was a little confusing getting here at first to find parking and then taking the elevator up from the hotel. I really enjoyed the drinks here! There was one where they lit the lime fire which was a cool presentation. The squid appetizer was actually very delicious with the sauce on top! I also enjoyed the chocolate mousse dessert with berry syrup. The waitress was nice and checked up on us a lot! I came on a weekday and there was plenty of seating for walk ins.

The cocktails are amazing at this super chic rooftop. The signature pineapple upside down cocktail created by bartender extraordinaire Shanta Tate will knock you off your feet.

Ambiance: nice rooftop bat in Reston Town Center Service: It was pretty quiet for a Friday evening. I got a seat at the bar. And bartenders were attentive. Food: we just stopped in for drinks

My wife, daughter, and I visited the Syn on a warm July 4th evening. We planned to catch the fireworks downtown from a comfortable location. We were too far away to do that, but we could see the Herndon and Vienna displays and one or two others. Parking is free in the underground garage on evenings and weekends. An elevator ride to the lobby and another elevator ride to the 16th floor deposit syou at the host stand. We arrived around 7 p.m. with our reservation and were seated at an inside table near one of the glass garage doors that were opened for the evening. Our table could seat six, but the stools barely fit under it. There was a nice breeze blowing in, and the views were fantastic. The view is primarily to the East, but you can walk inside for Western sunsets and mountain views around the neighboring buildings. Our server was friendly and gave us recommendations from the one-page menu. We ordered the hummus, which came with six pieces of pita and some unsmashed chickpeas on the creamy hummus itself. The three of us loved that dish. We also got the truffle fries, which were very addictive to eat. Dunking the fries in the hummus was also an option we enjoyed. For drinks, my daughter and I got a beer on tap while my wife got a lemon gimlet and later a cosmo prepared at their full-service bar. The beers were served nice and cold, while my wife's Cosmo was the clear favorite of her two drinks. We hung out for about three hours, enjoying the views, the fireworks, and the breezes. I doubt we will return next Independence Day, but we will if we are in the area and need a break.

I stopped in Syn on a Wednesday evening on a whim while in the area. My friend wanted to check it out because we were nearby. When we reached the roof I was pleasantly surprised with the bright expansive space. We were greeted by. Friendly hostess who said we could get a table on the rooftop, a table or sit at the bar. There was plenty of space and normally I would have chosen the roof but it had been raining that day so we went for the bar. The bartender greeted us when we sat down, gave us the rundown of the drinks and we ordered their version of the espresso martini. The drinks were well made. They weren't too busy mostly people staying at the hotel but the food looked good and the staff were friendly. My friend and I Amy return sometime this summer on a weekend. Definitely a cute new spot for the Reston area!

The drinks were clever in concept but did not deliver! Cool atmosphere but the DJ wrapped up at 11:30pm on a Saturday night! Ummmm...what?!?! Will probably be cool in the summer with windows open and will give it another try!

Drinks and food were amazing! Bartender Piper was quick and knowledgeable. I came in around 4 so it wasn't too busy yet it was perfect. The view and atmosphere was perfect! Highly recommend for a date date or friend date! Will definitely be returning! .....Sorry about my pictures, I had to eat first!

I had such a great experience at Syn Restaurant on the rooftop of the AC Hotel Reston for private company outing-- it honestly exceeded all expectations. The views were breathtaking, and the vibe was both chic and welcoming -- the perfect setting for a relaxed but special outing. The food and drinks were incredible. Everything I tried was full of flavor and beautifully presented -- the salmon dish and chocolate mousse especially stood out for me. You can tell the culinary team puts real care into every detail. Huge kudos to the chef and his team! What really made the visit unforgettable, though, was the staff. They were genuinely warm, attentive. Whether you're planning a date night, meeting up with friends, or just treating yourself, Syn is one of those places you'll want to come back to.

Flew into town for a concert and saw this at the top of the recommendations, very serendipitous!…read more The place has a great atmosphere from the moment you walk in, the decor has a unique kitsch and the music is a definite vibe as well, and that's before you meet the staff. The staff was friendly front to back, hostess, waitress, bar tender- friendly and knew the menu and had solid recommendations and knowledge of the menu. The food was great, we had rangoons for an appetizer, followed by their famous General Tso's and the Mongolian Combination, all delicious! Highly recommend this place if you're in the area! However things went downhill pretty quickly. I ordered one of their specialty cocktails, which is more expensive than most of their meals, which was just ok. The drink was pretty strong which I didn't mind but most of it was just ice and the gummy was a little stale. Overall it looked cool but didn't really justify the price. The service is really where I felt let down. The 2 friends that I came with got their food in a normal timespan but it took 20-30 minutes for me to get my food. When I asked about it (because clearly they forgot) they lied and said their kitchen was backed up and the order is being prepared. The restaurant was half empty at that point so it was a little hard to believe. Also another waiter came out 10 minutes later and said my food just started to get cooked and will be out soon. Both my friends were pretty much done with their meals by the time I got mine and I didn't get anything from the staff aside from an insincere apology and a bad excuse. For the price we paid I expected much better service and for the staff to go above and beyond when they make a mistake, which didn't happen. The food was good when it eventually did come out though so I I'll give it an extra star for that.

Stopped at Makers Union in Reston on a rainy Sunday afternoon after taking our dog to the dog park…read more We sat outside on the patio with Onyx, and our server Kenny was great. When the rain started becoming an issue, he actually moved the umbrellas together to make sure Onyx had a dry spot. Really appreciated that. We started with a Bourbon Club and the Nitro Espresso Martini, then got the buffalo wings and she-crab soup. The wings can be grilled or fried and we went grilled, which was definitely the right call. Good char on them and I'd get them the same way again. The she-crab soup was also really good and perfect for a rainy afternoon. For lunch we had the French dip and the Reuben, and subbed the mac and cheese for one of the sides. Both sandwiches were solid, but the mac and cheese deserves a mention of its own. Definitely worth the substitution. Good food, good drinks, and especially good service from Kenny. Being able to hang out on the patio with our dog without the rain ruining lunch made the whole experience even better.

We had Mackenzie as our server and immediately connected because she's a foodie like me. At her suggestion, I got the Grilled Chicken Sandwich but swapped the grilled chicken for fried. She had me at bacon. I mean, what doesn't go well with bacon? The chicken was crispy without being greasy and all the flavors just worked. My son had the chicken and waffles. Chicken was perfectly crispy, although the batter was a little sweeter than I prefer. I'm more of a Southern, savory fried chicken person. We asked for hot sauce to add to the maple syrup and Mackenzie upped it by bringing us hot honey instead. YES! Makers Union, add that to the menu. Promise you, it'll be a hit. You can thank Mackenzie for that one! Hubby had the fish and chips. His first reaction was, "Is that all?" Turns out, it was more than enough and really flavorful. The food was great, but honestly, Mackenzie made the experience. When your server understands food AND is a great people person, that's a winning combination. Great first visit and we'll definitely be back!

One thing I really love about Masti is how thoughtfully the menu is put together. The dishes and even the cocktails feel carefully selected, which makes the experience feel a little more personal than your typical restaurant. The service is phenomenal, the staff is friendly, and the atmosphere is one of my favorite things about this place. It has a lively vibe without being so loud that you can't hear yourself speak. I love being able to sit down, enjoy good food, and actually hold a conversation. On my most recent visit, our server recommended the Kale Chaat, and it was an excellent choice! We also had the Chili Paneer as an appetizer. For my main course, I had my favorite: butter chicken with basmati rice and garlic naan. I paired it with the Cheeni Espresso cocktail, which is TO DIE FOR. It surprisingly reminds me of a piña colada, and I absolutely love it. The interior is also beautiful, from the lighting to the colors and overall design. Everything comes together to create such a warm and inviting atmosphere. I may be a little biased because I'm a HUGE Masti fan, but this is genuinely one of my favorite restaurants. I will travel across the DMV for their food without hesitation. If butter chicken, great cocktails, beautiful interiors, and a relaxed atmosphere are your thing, Masti is definitely worth trying!

It's great that parking is free in the nearby ramps on the weekend. The restrooms aren't far but you do need to exit the restaurants. The server was attentive and friendly. She got my daughter a kid friendly water cup and spoon. She also suggested non spicy options since I wanted to make sure my toddler would try as much as possible. Portions were generous and drinks were delicious. My toddler was still a little bit picky and honestly I'm not used to all of the traditional Indian spices but I'm glad we tried it. Also it was a bit on the pricey side but to be expected given the location and more elevated ambiance. We were able to bring home some leftovers which was nice not having to stress out about another meal afterwards.

The actual hookah was mid at best for D.C I was expecting a lot better. Then when it came to the bill we were charged $4 for each bottle (of which we were not even told there was a charge at all for water, and no we did not specifically ask for a sealed bottle all we asked for was water the sever never said tap or bottled, she just automatically brought us sealed) when on the menu they were priced at $3.50 sure it's .50 but when there was five that .50 extra could have almost bought another bottle. Also when she brought the bill she did not even show the itemized bill at first all she showed was the tip screen which upon doing the math from what we ordered vs paid we realized the amount was way higher than what we got and so we asked for the copy of the receipt only to find out there was ALREADY a service charge on there of which was NOT a credit card charge because we paid in cash and when asked what the cash total was she told us $60.31 yet the copy showed the cash price was $57.91 also they charge for charcoal, what am i suppose to do bring my own charcoal? i've never had to pay extra for charcoal they just include it with hookah price, absolutely ridiculous. Not to mention the vibes in this place is like an absolute funeral, all the pictures made this place look so fun and great, but no it was worse than funeral. I felt even more so like i was at a funeral after I realized how badly my wallet was robbed. I will never come back here.
