Switchback Grille has such a beautiful ambiance--warm, upscale, and a perfect way to wind down after a day in Zion. The food was excellent. We started with an apps that were recommended by our server~ flavorful. For mains, the steak was cooked perfectly, and the seafood dish was just as impressive--both plated beautifully and full of flavor. Portions were generous without being overwhelming. Yes, it's on the spendy side, but the quality was absolutely worth it. Our server was not only attentive and friendly but also shared advice on local attractions, which added a thoughtful touch we really appreciated. Cocktails were average--not bad, but nothing memorable compared to the food. Still, overall, it was a wonderful evening with excellent service and a classy dining experience in Zion. Highly recommend if you're looking for a special dinner in the area.

The entrance is shared so it's not too clear where to go at first. Once inside, upscale atmosphere, good space. We were sited right away, it was a weekday, and our server was very helpful and attentive. Drinks and food were good, but scallops appetizer that was too salty. Prices, portions and plating match the upscale restaurant vibe they go for. Manager is quick to address and solve issues. Overall it was a pleasant experience.

Nice atmosphere, friendly service and nice view of the red rocks. Our calamari was quite tasty with the peppers mixed in Next up was the crusted ahi tuna and bacon wrapped buffalo meatloaf with mashed potatoes and gravy. Both entrees were very tasty and large. I only wished the tomato on the meatloaf was grilled with some good char marks. Couldn't finish the whole thing - really I tried. Quiet night there as out of season but as the night went on folks started coming in.

The food was so great! I liked the table we got and the view. It was a fancier restaurant than I had anticipated. My drink was so good but they did charge a $11 for a shot of Smirnoff for my drink. Which maybe I'm not used too but thought that was a little pricey. Also I wish the focaccia was more crispy but the balsamic was good!

Another amazing meal. Nichole was a great server. The buratta cheese was delicious with pine nuts and pesto. The coconut halibut was so flavorful and cream corn so delicate and tasty. Our steak was supposed to be medium but came out very rare so had to send it back but otherwise it was a great meal. Nichole made recommendations that were spot on and was so helpful with a food allergy issue.

We visited Zion from Orange County CA. We came in for dinner and it was AMAZING!! JT was our server and everything was literally perfect. He was very polite and had a great sense of humor. He really went the extra mile for us. All of our dishes were delicious and I really enjoyed my girly drink I had also!

We had an incredible experience at Switchback. The restaurant is unassuming on the outside and when you walk in, is joint with a gift shop. The dining area is grand, complete with high ceilings and a fireplace. We started with the calamari, which was flavourful, and fried perfectly. We also had the bison and ahi tuna. The bison was cooked perfectly, and was juicy and tender. The mashed potatoes were like whipped cream - just so smooth and buttery. The ahi tuna had a perfect crust to it, and was meaty and tender. Service was also top notch. Switchback is on the pricier side, but you are getting true quality. Would definitely recommend.

This place looked so unassuming and with a name like switchback grille, we had no idea how fancy it would be. We were also quite surprised at the menu prices but it ended up being totally worth it. This may sound crazy, but the roasted butternut squash that came with my pan-seated Scottish Salmon was the amazing butternut squash I've had in my whole life. The roasted carrots were a little firm for my taste but were still decent. The fish was so deliciously fatty and perfectly cooked. Andy's steelhead trout was also amazing. A seasonal delicacy, Seasoned to perfection. He also enjoyed his roasted brussel sprouts. For an aperitif we got the ancho old fashioned wish was absolutely divine. Despite being comfortably full, andy got the crème brûlée and I tried the raspberry sorbet after being told they're both made in house. The crispy golden-sugar topping was just the right thickness. Unfortunately the underneath was a little too soupy but still tasted good. My sorbet was just right in that the texture was smooth, not sticky, and not too sweet; just the right tartness. The portion was huge though, 3 giant scoops, so was terribly stuffed by the time we finished. Next time we'll know better and stop with the mains.

Ok... I understand "Steakhouse" pricing can be extreme but... Steakhouses are a creature unto themselves. I found it odd, if not petty and greedy, to make every little thing a la carte. You want bread? There's a fee. You want salad or soup? Nope. Extra I got an 8oz tenderloin for $59. If I'd ordered it on its own it would have appeared as a small piece of meat, a charred red jalapeño and sprig of thyme for decoration in the middle of a plate as big as an LP. Sides- $12-14 more. But... a vodka cocktail with 2 mixers ITEMIZED?!? $12 for vodka, PLUS $2.50 for soda, and PLUS $2.50 for juice. SERIOUSLY??? They had a lil touchscreen cocktailmenu with several specialty cocktails averaging $14, so what the hell? If it just said $17 I would've rolled my eyes and thought, "Eh, steakhouse prices." Maybe don't itemize the mixers for a cocktail? Steakhouse dining is something to be done rarely, and maybe for a special occasion only. Charging for mixers should be done NEVER!

Absolutely love this place! Came for dinner after hiking in Zion. The view is beautiful. The service was just as amazing as the food.

This is good meal for where this place is situated. I probably would give this 3 stars if it was in a bigger city, but it's not. Keep expectactions low then you will be happy. If you think you going to some fancy steakhouse, you are not. You are paying an upcharge for quality food near Zion. Server was very attentive and checked in alot. Unfortunately, their drinks are lacking also the upscale feel you would get in a steakhouse. For instance, the old fashion didn't have the usual block ice but regular ice and made the drink watered down very quickly. The liquor section is also lacking. Skip the New England calm chowder, if you have had good Chowder then this won't come close to the real deal.

The jalapeños came out so quick even the person serving us was surprised, no complaints there. It came so quick I didn't even get beer yet. For the main I went with the 3 for $23: chicken enchiladas, al pastor tacos, and the wagyu tacos. None of them disappointed. The standout was the crunch the veggies had in the tacos, it really elevated the whole bite. Going in, I wasn't expecting San Diego-style tacos, and that's the right mindset to have. These are Tex-Mex tacos done well on their own terms. Ambiance was really chill when we got there we beat the crowd and it had a relaxed, laid-back vibe. By the time we left the parking lot was completely packed, looked like there wasn't a single spot available. Glad we got there when we did.

It took a little while for her to come back and take our order and then give is our check. We ordered two pizzas and both were excellent. The White Sun (garlic-infused olive oil, spinach, pineapple, fresh tomatoes, mozzarella, cheddar, and Parmesan) was such a unique combo and worked surprisingly well. The Cholesterol Hiker (tomato sauce, pepperoni, Canadian bacon, house-made Italian sausage, mushrooms, mozzarella, and cheddar) was loaded and super satisfying. Everything came out fast and clearly we loved it because we didn't have a single slice left! We sat out back on the partially covered patio, which was really nice, especially with the sun setting. We were on a trip celebrating our anniversary and we were offered complimentary dessert to help us celebrate after dinner. Even though we were stuffed, we took our waiter up on his offer. I enjoy trying small batch local ice cream and our server took the time to go find out where the ice cream was made. He let us know that the ice cream was from Salt Lake City and I settled on getting the Huckleberry ice cream - it did not disappoint. The limoncello ricatta cheesecake was equally delicious. We had a reservation for 7pm and ended up being ready for dinner much earlier. I didn't see a way to change our reservation so I just made a new one for 5:15pm with no problem. It was just after 5 and I had no issues making a new reservation online. We did see several people come in and get turned away since they did not have a reservation. They were told the next reservation was not until 8pm. The restaurant was pretty much empty and there were quite a few tables still open when we were leaving. We enjoyed our meal and had no issues, but it does seem like you need to make a reservation and the best way is online and not through the hostess.

Had a reservation to dine here on April 3, 2026, and what we experienced upon arrival was shocking,…read moreblatant hostility and unprofessional behavior from the hostess (who later identified herself as a manager). When we checked in, Ali (she was not wearing a name tag so I'm unsure about the name spelling. I found out her name from another staff) immediately told us, dismissively and with visible annoyance, that we did not have a reservation. I showed her the confirmation on my phone, but she refused to accept it and said that because it wasn't on her computer, there was "nothing she could do." I was traveling with 3 small children, staying at the lodge, and this was the only dinner option in the park. I asked Ali to please check again, and instead of helping, she loudly yelled at me to step aside so she could assist other guests. What made the situation even more upsetting was that she proceeded to help the white families behind us without issue, while continuing to dismiss and raise her voice at me. When I approached again, she again told me, very loudly and publicly, to step aside and repeated that there was nothing she could do. I was being treated as if I had done something wrong despite having a valid dinner reservation. I then asked to speak to a manager. Ali responded, "I am the manager!!" When I asked if there was another manager I could speak to, she refused multiple times before finally saying she would check. When I asked for the other manager's name ("What is their name?), she began yelling--actually yelling in my face --"HE IS A HE, NOT A THEY! HIS NAME IS SEAN!" This was screamed at me in front of other guests and was completely inappropriate and aggressive. She stormed off and a few minutes later Sean came to assist us. I explained what had just happened. He apologized and attributed her behavior to her "having a rough day" and the restaurant being busy. He then turned the reservation screen toward me to show that my reservation supposedly wasn't there, but I immediately spotted my reservation and pointed it out. He appeared confused and suggested it might have been a "computer glitch" or that the reservation had been deleted. (I wonder who could've deleted my reservation from the computer....) We were eventually seated, but only after being yelled at, dismissed, and humiliated. I considered letting this go, but I just can't. This was the only negative experience on an otherwise wonderful family trip to Zion, and it was significant. No one should be treated this way. Regardless of how busy a restaurant is, there is absolutely no excuse for this level of hostility, nor for speaking to guests in such a demeaning and aggressive manner. Management needs to be aware: someone who treats customers this way should not be in a customer-facing role, let alone acting as a manager. I sincerely hope steps are taken to ensure no other family has to go through what we experienced.
