If you're going to travel to Zion National Park, Anthera is one of my favorite places to eat in the morning. With a spectacular view of the mountains and a satisfying service from the team, they have never failed to make us feel welcomed at home. The restaurant sits cozy and is part of the Hilton Hotel that resides upon it. It is not crowded at this time of the year due to the chilly weather, but they sure made us warm with the heater inside. We were greeted by the server Yackie who was very kind and inviting. The food I got was the Zion Sunrise which included two eggs cooked to your liking, a choice of bread, side, and meat. The sunny side up eggs melted in my mouth. The food was delicious. The potatoes were cooked to perfection and with a bit of ketchup, it was a breakfast well-worth the experience. Shoutout to Yackie and the whole Hilton team for providing my family and I an unforgettable memory. We love your service and we can't wait to come back here. read more

Come here for breakfast, not for dinner. I came here for both and the dinner was overpriced and not very good. The steak was overcooked and dry. The charred pork and noodle salad was actually ok but something you can get at any Vietnamese hole in the wall restaurant for half the price. There was a guy playing the guitar and singing which was kinda nice but also a bit too loud. Breakfast was delicious though. I got a crepe and it was very nice and tasted great and the bacon also was cooked perfectly. Breakfast prices are also a bit more reasonable than dinner. Service was fine for both my visits, nothing spectacular but not too slow either. The views are nice. read more

Likely the worst meal we've had in years. Dismal service. When asked if any plant-based options might be available that were not shown on menu, the prompt reply was sharply "no". Ordered a BERRY SALAD, was served nearly-expired chopped iceberg with exactly 2 strawberries, 4 blackberries and 11 blueberries with a little vinaigrette. With limited options due to off season at the park, we decided to give the restaurant Anthera a try since we were staying at the hotel. We were seated at 5 pm for dinner and changed tables to get a better view. No one else in the restaurant upon arrival. Server was cordial enough...didn't offer any info relative to specials. Ordered the beet salad to start with, couldn't find the goat cheese as it was smeared on the bottom of the plate. There was probably a total of two small beets cut in squares, not much. Ordered the burger and sticky rice with curry beef. The burger was fine except the bun was burned on both ends...how could they not see that?? The curry beef was terrible. The meat was so hard I couldn't chew it and they piled a ton of it on the plate. Overall not a very good experience and definitely won't return. read more

It was a lovely evening, and we had a cozy spot near the fireplace. We ordered the O.Z. beef tenderloin and were quite surprised to find the dish served cold. Tonight was our first visit and we experienced top-tier service from Aaron (host) & Sterling (waiter) Celebrating a birthday, we decided to order a variety of items (small plates/communal style, and they recommend 3-4)... 1. Local Salad Smelled amazing, tasted even better. The dressing was just right, and the bacon gave a little umpth. If I could change anything, it'd be less croutons 2. Caramel Shrimp A delicious sweet Hawaiian concoction. If you're expecting fried shrimp and sauce, this is not it. We enjoyed the saucy rice, green onion and shrimpy dish 3. A.Z. Beef Tenderloin The star of the dinner. Medium-rare tenderloin was so tender, you could almost cut it with the spoon. Steak sat on a horseradish crema which was a welcome surprise. The potatoes covered in verde aioli were an awesome accompaniment 4. Crab Rice Of all we ate tonight, this was the least exciting dish. We're used to crab rices that can stand on their own (a main), and this was not that. We found the crab flavor to be lacking, and overall a lack of character in the dish. Wasn't dry and seemed to have a generous serving of veggies (cabbage) - would've worked better as a side 5. Tiramasu Aaron described it as a "deconstructed tiramisu" and he wasn't lying. We're big fans of texture variations, so we really enjoyed the crunch of the lady fingers topped with a velvety cream and sitting on a chocolatey/espresso drizzle 6. Dessert whose name is forgotten Several layers and flavor profiles. Very sweet and creamy overall, with chunks of citrusy passion fruit 10/10, would recommend. read more

This was the worst restaurant experience we've ever had. First BEWARE that they add a 22% tip without any prior notification (for a party of 4). If the server was even average this would have been ok, but he was terrible. The food was extremely over seasoned. Literally, every dish we had was insanely over seasoned and inedible. The food took 1hr 20min to arrive at the table. The server was rude, and inattentive. Example- We had app plates that weren't removed. When he brought out the dinners, he set them in the middle of the table and left the app plates in front of us. I asked him to remove the app plates so we could have our dinners in front of us, and he huffed and puffed and said we needed to keep our forks from them first. Our sodas were flat, literally no carbonation. When we kindly told him, he basically said "oh well, the machine must be broken." Didn't offer a solution, and still charged us for them. We were friendly and polite the entire time, but when we saw the automatic 22% tip it felt very wrong and taken advantage of. I probably should have said something right then and there, but the whole experience was so bad we just paid and got out of there as fast as possible. We made reservations for Father's Day brunch and when we got there the only seats were in a non air conditioned room- in the desert in the summer. We got here for Thanksgiving dinner. An absolute disaster! no information on the menu on allergens, nuts, diary! They say "family style sharing". But they just put all in a plate. The appetizer was 1 biscuit per person when you pay $82 per person! stingy AF. The main dish was between turkey with ham or prime rib. We were 2 people and they just mix it all in one plate, not separately. Did you ever think that some people don't eat pork due to religious reasons and that's why they ordered separately?! We never got a refill for our water. The food is absolutely no FINE dining, it's a rip off dining because there is nothing fine about it. The place looks better in pictures, in person it's an average place. Stop advertising it as fine because you don't even come close to it. read more

My parents and I dined at Anthera several times during our stay at Cliffrose Collection Springdale, the hotel that Anthera is attached to. I was initially underwhelmed by Anthera's menu, which is a paradigm of the ordinary and expected. But it more than earns its 4 stars with great service, well-made dishes, and excellent views. The view is also exceptional compared to other offerings in Springdale. My first meal there was the parfait, which was topped with granola and fresh fruit. The quality was good and the portion excellent; it made a satisfying breakfast and helped justify the hotel menu cost. We had several other meals there during our Labor Day weekend stay. We partook in the lamb, steak, salad, and various breakfast dishes. All were well made and served politely and promptly. The lamb was good, with the chili adding some much-appreciated spice. The avocado toast was good, but they used guacamole which felt off. Honestly, the standout dish was the chips and salsa that were off-menu and served complementarily. We were thoroughly impressed by how flavorful and fresh the chunky salsa was. We usually went through 3 bowls each time we had it. If you're staying at the hotel, you could eat at Anthera each meal and not miss much. The only real competition was King's Landing, which (fortunately for Anthera) is closed on Sundays and Mondays. Among the better restaurants in Zion, we tried their ribeye (which was delicious and well cooked). We also ordered the primavera pasta, the pesto sauce was very good but heavy. And the carrot cake was the highlight for me. Not too moist and not too dry, the frosting was delish. The vibe at the restaurant was cozy. We sat upstairs as the cushion seats were very comfy, but downstairs had a live band playing adding to the vibes. Great restaurant located inside the Cliffrose Lodge Hilton hotel in Springdale. We are there for breakfast, but they also have dinner and you can dine in or have room service as well. We had the blueberry pancakes with sausage as the side and they were great. We also had the Sunrise breakfast which had eggs and potatoes and Canadian bacon. We had an English muffin as well. Anthera exceeded expectations. Mostly, we ended up here because it was within walking distance of the Zion National Park entrance; we were hungry, hot, and tired from a day of walking; we didn't feel like waiting through the interminable park shuttle line to get back to our car; and it had favorable Yelp ratings for lunch. The restaurant is attached to and tucked behind a hotel--we had to walk through the lobby and down some stairs to access it. Most of the seating appears to be outdoors, which works out during the nicer months. In mid-May, we were pleasantly cooled by the continuous breeze and it was very comfortable under the giant shady umbrellas (more on this later). Portions are absolutely monstrous; either come with a massive appetite or plan to share (unless, you know, you're a glutton like I am). Everything we ordered (pics below) turned out fantastic. We were even surprised with a generous slice* of fresh house-made carrot cake for my mom's upcoming milestone birthday. Universally, we agreed it was the best carrot cake any of us can remember having! Beware loose patio umbrellas. Our server was dexterous enough to snag and hold onto our umbrella when it nearly lifted off due to a particularly heavy gust of wind. Once it was screwed into the table, it stayed put. As we were preparing to leave, we witnessed one or two other umbrellas actually take flight and torpedo across the deck. Fortunately, no one was injured, since it was pretty empty at mid-afternoon. ------ *By "slice," I mean a carrot cake roughly the size of my head. Between four of us, we were only able to make a dent into about a quarter of the portion presented to us. Fortunately, we were able to have the rest packed up to-go. This was my favorite restaurant in Springdale until today. We went there for dinner and ordered salad, risotto and carmel shrimp dish. The shrimp dish with rice was delivered to us absolutely cold. Then the back waitress came up to deliver the risotto and another carmel shrimp dish, which was hot. We advised her that we already received the shrimp dish but that it was very cold. She dropped off the risotto and advised she would send the waitress to us. She could have simply given us the hot carmel shrimp dish and taken back our cold one. After flagging down the waitress and letting her know there was no apology, just simply a "I'll ask the manager to come over." Which he/she never did. After complaining and waiting and waiting they offered to take half price of the cold shrimp dish. What the heck? Why half? Eventually, they took off the dish off the tab but all of it was just a very disappointing experience. They did not seam to care at all. read more

The Anthera restaurant by winter is a covered patio with great heaters - loved it. The clear walls allowed us to enjoy the view while the heaters left us in our short sleeves! We are he off season - on of our favorite times to visit to relax, not hike. Our server was vert friendly and helpful. We enjoyed the Cajun pasta and the blue cheese ribeye - both very very large portions and full of flavor. Add a glass of wine and a Heff and we enjoyed a quiet, great view and food restaurant. Sat on the patio with view of mountains and shared three different dishes that were all delicious. It is a very " different" menu but that's what we like. Creative, fresh, interesting food. I was a little hesitant to eat here because of the price but our friend Charlie Kessner was the live music tonight on the patio and I'm super glad we went. It's not often that I order a salad with no added protein, like chicken or fish, but I decided to take a chance since we were on the motorcycle and didn't want to get too stuffed. I was extremely surprised with how delicious it was. There were so many berries and they put just the right amount of balsamic vinaigrette so as not to overpower or drown the salad. Just a perfect kiss of flavor & moistness. The basil really came through as well. It might have been the best salad I've ever had. We were also surprised that it came with a side of soup. The choices were pumpkin or ham & bean and Andy went with the ham and bean, which turned out to be a bad choice. So much so that we didn't even waste our tastebuds on it. A couple sips and it went in the trash. Andy said it tasted like they just threw together leftover bits of raw veggies and overcooked meat with a thin yet oily broth. No bueno. Luckily the Cliffrose burger he got was a win although he said the gluten-free bun was chewy and unpleasant. He said it might have been better without the bun at all because the burger was cooked perfectly to medium and the avocado & bacon toppings were delicious. He also thoroughly enjoyed his jalapeno margarita. Unfortunately my moscow mule was pretty bad. Way too sour. In the end the taste of my salad and his burger, plus the amazing 20% locals discount that we didn't know about until the bill came, made up for all the other shortcomings.
