A delightful encounter in Kanab, the small town along the way on our road trip to Salt Lake City. A wonderful meal. Pistachio Chicken: The chicken breast was crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, with a thin, crispy crust that was especially impressive. The sauce blended the mild aroma of Poblano chili, the creamy richness of butter, and the unique fragrance of herbs. Most precious was the pistachio aroma, both vibrant and subtle, without overpowering or masking the other flavors, creating a delicate balance. Even the saltiness was just right, subtle and delicate. The surface was garnished with pico de gallo, fresh, sweet, tangy, and spicy, balancing the potential heaviness of the sauce. The asparaguses were also very fresh, with a natural fragrance, but perhaps a little too mild with the sauce. Kanab Cowboy Ribs: The pork ribs were slow-cooked and roasted until they were so tender that they easily fell off the bone, offering no resistance when cutting into them. The homemade barbecue sauce coated it thickly, rich and sweet, with an authentic American barbecue flavor. It might be a bit too sweet for most Chinese palates, but I thought it was quite good. The agave mustard vinaigrette seemed more decorative; I nearly couldn't really taste it. Lemon Sorbet: Homemade sorbet, offering the most soulful finish. It was breathtakingly beautiful at first glance; the simple white porcelain plate and glass were limpid and elegant, perfectly matching the sorbet's style. Unlike typical sorbets that emphasize extreme acidity, this restaurant took a different approach, with a gentle, even subtle, acidity that brings out the natural, lively fragrance of lemon, like Lolita's touch through pale silk. The texture was also delicate and smooth, without any ice crystals. Everyone was captivated; some even ordered an extra to take away. The restaurant claims that ingredients come from its organic garden. Found this through Yelp, as usual. Got here before sunset and was seated at the patio. It was such a nice day! You can see view of the mountain. As the sun sets, the patio lights softly brightens and gives the patio a nice romantic vibe! Kelly was really nice and informed us what's on the menu. We had Cabernet Sauvignon, soda, Caesar salad and some wild sliders! The cab is so well priced! Salad and the wild sliders were so good! We enjoyed our view and the meal. I ordered the Bacon Wrapped Meatloaf - it was $31, which seemed slightly pricey, but the portion size was very large, so the price was somewhat justified. The meatloaf itself was cooked well and tasty. A few minor points for improvement are that I was hoping the sauce would be a bit more like BBQ sauce rather than tomato sauce and I also felt that the bacon could've been a bit crispier. The interior of the restaurant has a nice yet chill vibe and there is also a nice outdoor patio seating area. There is a parking lot behind the restaurant. The staff are friendly and helpful. The service speed is fine. Overall, I would say the food here is a solid 4 stars in quality, which is enough to warrant stopping here on a roadtrip through the area. read more

We were passing through Kanab on our way to Park City and found Wild Thyme Bistro. I would give it 5 stars! Walking distance from the Hampton Inn. Tavez was our server and he was a star. Friendly, efficient, personable and professional. My husband loved the soup special (salmon chowder) and the trout. I had the best shrimp tacos I have ever eaten. Bring your appetites because the portions are generous and save room for dessert - I recommend the salted caramel cheesecake. Plan on stopping by there again next time we pass through. What a wonderful way to end the first day of our Road Trip from AZ to Big Sky, MT! Tavez was our server and deserves AT LEAST 10 stars! He quickly picked up on our vibe and interacted perfectly with us all night. We are are trio: me, hubby and MIL. We enjoyed cocktails to start the night and Tavez quickly explained UT pour laws (1.5 oz...WTH??) but appreciated the heads up. Tavez was great to explain the menu and offer suggestions. Two of us ordered the Pistachio Chicken and I had the Trout. Both dishes were amazing! And everything else we saw come out of the kitchen looked just as tasty. Stopped by Wild Thyme Café for a quick lunch after kayaking the Colorado River, and it ended up being one of the best meals of the trip. Food: I ordered the elk burger with smoked Gouda, house burger sauce, and sage butter smashed potatoes -- and it absolutely blew my mind how good everything was. The flavors were rich and perfectly balanced, and the potatoes were some of the best I've ever had. It was the kind of meal that completely hits the spot after a long morning outdoors. The prices are WAY too high for the food you actually receive. I was super disappointed with the shrimp pasta. It was dry and when I asked for butter the server told me they don't use real butter and brought me a cup of melted margarine. It was disgusting. She was nice but REALLY? . The meatloaf was weird. The sauce was overwhelming and not a compliment to the dish. Perhaps get it on the side. Timing was also terrible. We ordered a soup and a salad which we were enjoying but the entre came out immediately so we had to move on. Not sure if they were just trying to flip the tables, but we felt horribly rushed. Stopped in for lunch on the recommendation from the folks at the front desk of the local Marriott. This place didn't disappoint. I had the big sexy burger, which was decent. An average burger that tastes better after a hike. It was accompanied by seasoned potatoes that were good, but not better than a classic French fry. One of my friends ordered the Wild Thyme Pasta and wasn't a fan. Another ordered the fish tacos and was satisfied but not blown away. The last friend ordered Kanab Cowboy ribs and loved them. Fall of the bone juicy. The atmosphere is modern, with a Southwestern flair that give it a unique feel. Service was great and quick, though it was busy, so we waited a bit for a table. One of the best vegan meals I've had in years. They use local ingredients whenever possible and most recipes are made in house. My son and husband also loved their meat based meals. It came with rice, veggies, chicken pea cakes and asparagus. She commented on how spicy it was. When I tasted it I found it to be really spicy. Flavored was way off. It was grainy, and had a very heavy sides over spiced flavor. Never had anything like this. To sum it up in one word Terrible! I ordered the Chicken Sandwich that was pretty good. Get to it, it's after five, right?. I was a bit disappointed that the beer came out in a can. No taps? The staff suggested tacos, I just wasn't feeling it. Opted for the fire roasted Idaho Trout. It came with 4 uninspiring asparagus, but that's not the star of the show. The trout was well cooked and seasoned. I like that it was not smothered in Cajun seasoning that overpowers a fish. You are in a small quaint town and this bistro was right across the street from our hotel and had good reviews. Inside it is fairly basic in nature. I wouldn't call it a fine dining place but it was very comfortable. The service was great and friendly. There is a wide variety of dishes. Many types of burgers. Two people ordered the meatloaf and loved it and the portion was huge. I had the elk burger and it also was very good. They make their own desserts and we indulged in a couple to try. We each had drink. It is a great place to eat but fair warning I had sticker shock when the bill came. Four dinners, four drinks and two desserts ended up being about $240 with tip.
