Great cafe in Kanab. The staff were friendly and food came out fast. Grilled cheese was perfectly toasted and paired well with the soup. Tried the Kanookie which was also very good. I'm usually a fan of a regular chocolate chip cookie but I actually preferred their double chocolate cookies (both regular and in the kanookie). Depending on the time of day and size of your group seating inside could possibly be an issue. Street parking out front (free).
The ice cream here was suuuuper yummy! I had a pina colada flavor single scoop in a cake cone, and it was the perfect refreshing dessert on a hot summer day in Kanab. The shop itself is super cute, and while we ate our ice cream we looked at all the goods they also sell there. The service was also quite friendly, and we felt welcomed from the moment we came in to the moment we left. Next time we are in Kanab, we will be back!
OMG! This place is the bomb! We were looking for a nice yet not terribly expensive place to eat lunch between appointments at Best Friends Animal Sanctuary (interment of our late dog Emma and volunteering in Cat World) when we found this gem right across the street from the hotel we were staying at (Parry Lodge)! The staff was exceedingly friendly, and the real kicker was that the food was FANTASTIC! Not expecting such a small town in rural Utah to have such amazing cuisine! We both had the Gourmet Grilled Cheese (white cheddar, gruyere, muenster, caramelized onions and rosemary) and I also had the tomato basil soup while hubby had a salad. Then I had a sugar cookie for dessert, which I reluctantly shared with hubby. It was that good! When we finished eating we went back and ordered three more cookies to go as well as a couple two-scoop ice cream cones. Our favorite flavor was cherry chip (not the traditional one you're thinking of, but cherry ice cream with chocolate chips)! I am still dreaming about that ice cream... I guess their "kanookie" skillet cookie, cookie dough, ice cream and topping extravaganza is fantastic (they have several pictures posted of people enjoying it)! Next time... and I guarantee there will be a next time, because we frequently visit Best Friends, and I promise we will be revisiting Brown Box!

In addition to being a popular ice cream spot they have a tempting array of dinner choices. We got the 3 way combo of salad and soup and cookie. Add a grilled cheese sandwich and we had all we needed for $20. Perfect! The young staff is enthusiastic and efficient. Highly recommended .
Was planning my visit to the parks in Utah and came across Brown Box on TikTok and their "Kazookie"! It's a skillet cookie where you get to create it yourself by choosing which doughs, ice creams, and toppings you want. You can get small or large. When I arrived, I discovered it was the cutest place that also serves food. We were heading to Coral Pink Sands and only got the Kazookie, so I can't speak on the food, but the Kazookie is a MUST-DO 10/10! So yummy! Service was fast. If you're in Kanab and you're in the mood for a sweet treat, do it!
We got the ice cream and the flavors were good, service was friendly but my husband said the ice cream had ice chunks in it like it was slightly freezer burned. They have tables outside. Very dog friendly!

Friendly staff, cute little shop, located right on the main street of town. We got two scoops of ice cream, Cadbury egg and peanut butter. The Cadbury egg was unique and I loved it! Big, generous scoops. Parking available in the back if you can't find street parking up front. We will be back!

Such a cute lil place with killer food. I wish I could go all the time! The staff is very young & I will admit - they somehow messed up every single one of our orders in at least one way. It was almost charming. They got away with it because they were kind & the food was that bomb. VEGAN & GLUTEN-FREE ALERT! I got the "popper" grilled cheese (jalapeño cream cheese, cheddar, red pepper flakes) on gluten-free bread with added bacon. I also got a tomato basil soup & a gluten-free s'mores cookie. Bomb, bomb, bomb, BOMB! So comforting & delicious, at a totally reasonable price point. I would go way out of my way to come back here again! read more

Met with a smile and a greeting! Order at the counter and find your seat. Went straight old school with the classic grilled cheese on sourdough and tomato soup. Great pull on the grilled cheese with the combo of cheddar and muenster. Tomato basil soup was as comforting as you expect tomato soup to be. We stopped for lunch and ice cream and are SO glad we did. Seriously one of the best grilled cheeses I've ever had. We ordered the Gourmet (standout rosemary flavor) and the Popper (jalapeño). We finished with the ice cream flight of Dirty Oreo, Andes Mint, Pistachio, and Key Lime Sorbet. Food was delicious and prices were fair. Such an awesome place! Staff is super nice and the building itself is super nice and inviting. Breadsticks were some of the best ever, and the grilled cheese was great for only being $6. Ice cream was solid, I got Cookie Monster and it tasted good but the texture was a little off. Still great overall though. It's a popular spot among the locals and does get crowded at times though, so just try not to go during peak dinner hours. read more

On any given summer evening, you can bet your bottom dollar that there will be a line of folks queuing up to get a scoop of ice cream or hot cookie from the Brown Box Bakeshop. It's the place to satisfy your sweet tooth. There's a good amount of seating both indoors and outdoors, along with a parking lot out back, so it's easily accessible to everyone. The ice cream is pretty good and the service is friendly and as quick as possible-although if you order a fresh cookie, plan on it taking a bit since it's, well, fresh. read more

Brown Box was an absolute gem to find on our travels for delicious comfort food! The grilled cheeses here are delicious - flavorful and great cheese pulls! We got the caprese which was nicely balanced and the gourmet with a mix of cheeses and caramelized onions. The rosemary was strong and was the predominant flavor of the sandwich so some of the flavors were a little lost but it was still altogether delicious, crispy and cheesy! The tomato soup was hearty and was a several steps above the classic canned tomato soup while also tasting nostalgic. The kanookie was also a fun surprise. The small was big enough for two of us and we loved customizing it with scotchie and chocolate chip cookie dough marbled with homemade hot fudge and local ice cream. The people serving at the counter were so pleasant! They were a delight to chat with and were incredibly hospitable. I also loved the homey feel and the touches within the shop with local artist goods and the story of how the restaurant came to be. This spot is definitely worth a stop! It's a great spot to enjoy some comfort food after a long travel or hiking day! read more

Stopped by Brown Box after a long day of hiking and it was definitely a great call. The place is cozy w/couches, tables, and a gas fireplace. Friendly staff that made us feel welcome. I had the special, a turkey,cran, apple grilled cheese w broccoli cheddar soup, definitely made from scratch. My husband had the caprese and my boys the classic grilled cheese.
