This is such a cute shop in a tiny little town. There's lots of really nice seating and cute knick-knacks and art for sale. The staff was very friendly and welcoming and didn't rush anyone. The ice cream is delicious and they offer samples. I was disappointed that they don't really have drink options, just basic tea and coffee, but it's a great spot to rest and rejuvenate. I got the coffee ice cream which was very strong and the pistachio ice cream which was creamy and delicious. read more

We stopped here on a whim as we were driving through town. The staff is very friendly and the little shop is sweet. I was already sold, but then I bit into the Caprese grilled cheese. It was by far the best grilled cheese sandwich I have ever eaten. Then I ordered the strawberry with chocolate ice cream. I savored every bite and then went back to savor a second scoop. Love everything about Brown Box Bakeshop. This cute restaurant is family owned and all of the ice cream is homemade and it's definitely the best in town. All of the flavors are fun and taste great and don't worry they allow sample tasting to help you make up your mind. The location is perfect to walk or drive to and there is parking close by if needed. There is inside and outside seating and don't miss the mural on the side of the restaurant for all your ice cream selfies. The service is incredible and again it is family owned and operated and they make sure each customer is taken care of. They also make sure to give back to the community which is amazing. Don't worry they don't just have ice cream - they have GRILLED CHEESE! They have multiple options for grilled cheese and a delicious tomato soup even the most picky eater loved. And make sure to check out the specials board each month for fun grilled cheese flavors like the pizza flavor! Each time we visit we get a grilled cheese, chips and a cookie and it is the perfect filling meal after an adventure. It warms you from the inside out and the cookie definitely wraps up the meal in the perfect way. Double chocolate, chocolate chip, or in the fall pumpkin chocolate chip are top faves. read more

This place is sensational. Stopped in to pick up lunch for drive back to Las Vegas after a weekend break in Kanab. Ordered two different variations of their grilled cheese sandwiches and both were scrumptious beyond belief. Quite possibly the best grilled cheese sandwiches we've ever had. Their homemade ice-cream is ridiculously good. And the cookies are amazing. Everything was delivered with care and attention but not undue speed, showing how carefully crafted everything is. We are fortunate to travel A LOT and have been all over the world, and I can safely say this is one of the best lunches we`ve ever had. The interior is cosy and welcoming. Alas, didn't have time to read up on their ethos but they seem a truly decent crew who clearly know how to make people happy with food. Oh, and guess what, the coffee is also fantastic. Cute and super warm Bakeshop. Arrived to my Airbnb in Kanab tonight & I was walking through the entire city, turns out it was Brown Box's GRAND OPENING. I had to come in & I was greeted with JARS of Free cookies ! That's already off to a great start! As it was late at night most of the free cookies were already taken but luckily I was able to get the one I wanted which was Peanut Butter Cup & Classic Sugar Cookie. I wanted to taste their Ice cream so I got multiple samples of them I ended up going with my personal favorite Peanut Butter Cup & it was amazing. I was told everything is homemade & I can definitely taste the love in their craft. Lovely lunch spot. The grilled cheese sammiches were hearty and huge. The gourmet grilled cheese with Gruyère was my favorite. Tomato basil soup is a great accompaniment for the sandwiches. This cute bakeshop is a great addition to Kanab. I only got to try the ice cream and cinnamon roll, but I was impressed. The cinnamon roll was flavorful, fluffy, and had a delicious buttery frosting. I recommend microwaving it prior to eating. I got a pink of the dirty oreo and WOW this is the best version of "cookies and cream" I have ever tasted. The ice cream base has oreo flavoring but there's also chunks of oreos too. It wasn't too sweet and it tasted exactly like oreos. I would take home a gallon of it home if I didn't live so far away. If you're in Kanab, add this sweet spot to your list of places to try! It's perfect for a lunch date with friends, a light dinner with someone special, or a just-because ice cream. Kanab desperately needed a cute, casual place like this! I can't keep myself away. Sandwiches are a fun twist on the traditional grilled cheese. I love the Caprese and Popper. The specials are especially good. My favorites are the Turkey Cranberry, the Hawaiian, and the Scrambler. The salads are also great. I wish I could get a kanookie every time I go (the best!), but often I satisfy myself with a waffle cone instead. Dessert portions and scoops are generous. The waffle cones are fresh and flavorful. The ice cream is next level good! It's all homemade and I love that the flavors are always changing. Favorite flavors are: chocolate-covered strawberry, maple nut, salted caramel pretzel, dirty Oreo, key lime, and peanut butter Nutella. Lastly, the people behind the counter are some of the nicest I know. I am so happy I can support them by eating the best ice cream anywhere. read more

Came to Kanab on a day trip, stopped here for lunch. The owner was so was so unbelievably rude. We were cold(winter) and had our calm service dog with us. A cup of soup and a grilled cheese sounded so nice. She pretty much threw us out to eat in the car. My small children didn't want to sit out in the cold to eat after a busy morning riding horses. As for the food, it was greasy and just okay. The young girls working there seemed sweet, but unfortunately having an unhappy boss made them indifferent. read more

My 8 year old daughter and I shared a peanut butter/chocolate gelato and I had a black drip coffee... it was incredibly delicious gelato/ ice cream and the coffee was great quality as well... she said the coffee wasn't super fresh and she could quickly make some fresh but it was good but I definitely appreciated the gesture... prices were definitely lower than most gelato shops... very clean place with very friendly employees! Our menu features dishes meticulously prepared from cherished family recipes, all crafted in-house from scratch using only genuine, high-quality ingredients.

History

Established in 2022.

The Brown Family has been doing business in some form or another on this little corner of Kanab since 1966! When the building that now houses Brown Box became vacant in 2021, Emily (co-owner) felt nudges to make it into another family business. As Emily connected with her cousin, Lacee (co-owner), at their Grandpa Brown's funeral they discussed the possibility of opening a dessert shop together. They dove head first into creating and researching and Brown Box Bakeshop was born on August 18, 2022! A very special motivation for this venture was Emily's little brother, Nathan, who has Down syndrome. He loves to be around people and needed an opportunity to continue to associate with others in his adult years. Nathan's aide, Bobbie, is known for her amazing homemade ice cream and so Nate & Bobbie (and Emily) began posting their ice cream for sale on social media and delivering it to buyers' doors weekly. Their ice cream was a hit and Brown Box was created to be its permanent home!

Meet the Business Owner: Emily - Lacee B.

Many of our Brown Family traditions involve gathering around the table to connect over a delicious meal or treat. Inspired by our family, Lacee honed her baking skills in the form of cakes, cookies, and Grandma Brown's famous sweet rolls while Emily developed her love of preparing delicious homemade meals. We came together on a whim not knowing much about creating or running a business, only feeling deeply that we needed to make something of our ideas. We have learned so much about the restaurant business since and we are always striving to improve our processes. Ultimately, we love seeing people come together around our tables to connect over a delicious bite! We aspire to be the heartwarming corner of Kanab, where all feel welcome as a part of our extended family. We hope to create a haven of connection and inspiration where every visit feels like coming home.

Only one two-sided kiosk was open, and there was a line on both sides. It took about 15 minutes to get our food. The fries were barely hot. My husband's ranch chicken snack wrap had chewy chicken. Mine was okay--but only okay. The wrap itself was way too big for the chicken, completely throwing off the balance. And the price doesn't help: a combo meal with two wraps, fries, and a drink ran about $10 each. Just not worth it. Prices here are up, quality is down, and service is slow. Right next door, there's a great local burger joint we've enjoyed before--go there instead. Don't waste your time at this McDonald's.
