Just finished hiking Zion and needed a spot to replenish my appetite. I wasn't starving but was absolutely ready to eat. Saw this Tex-Mex place nearby and thought sure why not. Nothing too crazy, but they have multiple solid entree. I ordered the stuffed jalapeños as appetizers to start and I don't know why but I expected to be breaded. Let's just say I did not read the description. Still good, but phew it was seriously spicy, so come prepared. The jalapeños came out so quick even the person serving us was surprised, no complaints there. It came so quick I didn't even get beer yet. For the main I went with the 3 for $23: chicken enchiladas, al pastor tacos, and the wagyu tacos. None of them disappointed. The standout was the crunch the veggies had in the tacos, it really elevated the whole bite. Going in, I wasn't expecting San Diego-style tacos, and that's the right mindset to have. These are Tex-Mex tacos done well on their own terms. Ambiance was really chill when we got there we beat the crowd and it had a relaxed, laid-back vibe. We were lucky to snag an early New Year's Eve reservation, and the place was lively and buzzing. Service was great, and the atmosphere felt fun with live music later in the evening (though we didn't stay long enough to catch it). Would be a 5 star experience but there's a couple of downsides: Parking the lot is very small and we ended up paying to park across the street. Since it was just the two of us, we were seated at the bar instead of the main dining room, which was a bit tight on space but manageable. I enjoyed the blueberry fruit lemonade. Chips, guacamole, and queso were also devoured. The sweet potato tamales were excellent (pork), and we loved the entrées so much we ordered TWO of these. We also tried 3 tacos (blackened shrimp, al pastor, lime grilled chicken). The shrimp was good, but the others were average and not something we'd order again. Black beans and mixed greens that come with many entrées were both surprisingly good. Dessert was also a great choice! Hello, What happened to this place!! We been here two other times and loved the food came here last night and what the heck happened. Ordered a carne asada plate and got a tv dinner steak that was horrible tasting tastes like rubber. The rice came out yellow and bland no taste at all. Visited the restaurant as my boyfriend and I stayed in Springdale for the weekend! Bit & Spur has such a nice vibe, decor and lights. We were seated immediately, and our waitress was very nice and checked on us frequently. I really loved the blueberry lemonade, it was so tart and not too sweet. My boyfriend got the prickly pear special margarita and also liked it! Chips and salsa plus guacamole was very good and hit the spot. Chips reminded us of Chili's! My boyfriend got three different tacos (1 al pastor, 1 wagyu beef, and 1 tequila chicken) and I got two of the vegan tacos. We both agreed the rice and beans were very good. The only thing that's missing is that my boyfriend didn't go crazy over his two tacos - wagyu beef & the chicken tequila weren't his favorite. The wagyu beef was a bit greasy, and the chicken was a little dry. BUT - he did enjoy the al pastor tacos! He said he would've preferred three of the al pastor tacos, but obviously it's our first time so he wanted to try them all. My tacos were good but spicy! Bit and Spur -- stopped here for a quick dinner on our last night in Springdale and were pleasantly surprised by how good it was. Food: We started with chips and salsa that had a surprisingly spicy kick, followed by the roasted poblano mac and cheese, which had a fantastic blend of flavors and richness. We were staying at Flanigans for the night to visit Zion and didn't want to drive so we walked 1 mi each way (kinda far but thats ok). Wanted to get food and cocktails to end the night of hiking. They had a fresh watermelon margarita special that night so I got it. Hubby got meatloaf, I got the shrimp pasta with capers, my son got the tacos and we got taco salad to share. My 3 friends and I went for a birthday celebration. We sat outside. The scenery was beautiful. The weather was perfect but got a little chili when the sun went down. This wasn't an issue because there are warming lamps you can turn on. We ordered Chips, queso, salsa and Guacamole for a starter. All the dips were perfect. The guacamole was really fresh and the salsa and queso were both delicious. The chips were freshly made and warm. I ordered the 3 enchilada combo with rice and black beans. Everything tasted great. I tried all 3 meats in my enchiladas. The chicken and pork were good, but the wagyu ground beef was the best one. My 3 friends ordered the sweet potato tamales, Chilli Relleno and swordfish tacos. Everything looked beautiful and tasted perfect. We ordered a chocolate pecan brownie crème brûlée to share for dessert. The staff were really great. We also got the chips & salsa, which you have to pay for but they are bottomless (we went through at least 2 bowls of them)...they were good. For dinner, I got the enchiladas plate and my partner got the carne asada. Both were tasty, but also nothing to write home about in comparison to other mexican-ish restaurants. Bit & Spur is listed as tex-mex, but it didn't seem different than any other Mexican I've had. All in all, the experience was good but also not particularly memorable. Not only was the char very good but there was a spice we couldn't pinpoint - our server shared it was Tanin! Game changer. The peppers also came with a citrus yogurt like sauce - so creamy and full of flavor. Ford our entree we had the chicken pot pie and carne asada. This is one of the very few restaurants that open late so I decided to go. However, there were numerous flaws in cleanliness. First, the table was not cleaned properly. I sat on a large pool of salsa on the chair that somehow the waitstaff completely overlooked. It was angled in a way where I wouldn't have noticed at first but easy to spot if you pull the chair forward a bit. Second, the bathroom doesn't have soap and I had to ask a few times for them to refill to clean up the mess they put on me. The only thing they did was comp the corn fritters which is okay but a bit insufficient for the huge inconvenience - I had to go out of my way to pay for laundry after this incident. We went here after a strenuous hiking day at Zion Park. My daughter was asking for a steak dinner, and after my husband research, we believe this was the only place that served steak. We ordered chips and guac also roasted cauliflower for appetizer. I assumed they put masala powder to the roasted cauliflower, which made it so flavorful. The steak was all right. We were all satisfied. There's nothing significant about the steak however we were waiting for our food for quite some time. It's not the waiters fault and I don't think that place was also that busy when we were there. But we had to wait about 30 minutes for our food to come. Bit&Spur is one of my favorite places locally. We had some friends visiting us and we decided to eat here in town. It was a Friday night, so I made a reservation because most restaurants in Springdale are busy on the weekend and having a long wait is not unusual without a reservation. We arrived on time and were seated immediately. This place has been busy every time I have been in to eat. They do have a small bar area up front. The dining room isn't huge, but when full, it can be very loud. Not bad, but it's definitely not a quiet place. We waited at least 15 min for someone to come get our drink order. It took another 15 min to get the drinks, (club soda. Iced tea and two margaritas). One of the margaritas was ordered with NO salt. When the drinks finally showed up, both had salted rims. My friend politely mentioned to the waitress that she had ordered hers without salt. The waitress acted shocked and instead of just taking the drink back and solving the problem, she starts to question whether or not it was ordered that way to begin with, which it was.. But why even go there? Just replace the drink and get on with the rest of it... We had asked her for sweetener/sugar and that was not brought to us, so I asked the waitress again, to please bring some. After she left, my brother tried his club soda and it was flat. When the waitress came back with the corrected margarita, we mentioned that to her and again she had to pause and question the whole thing.. Not sure why it was so hard for her to process these simple things.. We wanted an appetizer and since she was standing right there, I asked if we could order it right then.. She seemed unprepared for that request, but after a small huff, she took the order. Next, she seemed surprised when I ordered all three dips to go with our chips, salsa, guacamole and queso, but eventually she understood that we wanted chips and salsa, with guacamole and queso for the table to share.. (is this an odd combination?) Yet again, there was no sweetener/sugar brought to us, so I just dropped it. About 20 minutes later, the appetizers came. The salsa and guacamole were perfect, the queso was not thick and cheesy, it was thin and watery and kind of bland. Honestly, I've had better nacho cheese sauce from a bottle purchased at the grocery store. No biggie tho. My brother was still waiting for his club soda. Luckily when we first sat down, someone had poured four glasses of water, so he had that to drink instead. We still had not ordered any entree's yet and had been there for nearly an hour at that point. She attempted to walk off again, but we told her we wanted to order our food. In the meantime time A couple of tables near us had been seated after us and were already eating their entrees, which we all noticed. We kind of looked at each other like, "OK then".. The food took about 30 more minutes. One of the tables that had been seated after we first arrived had paid their check and were getting up to leave. (They did have a different server). We all enjoyed the taste of our food once it arrived. I had the shrimp tacos which were great. At some point the waitress realized she had forgotten the club soda that my brother sent back for being flat. She asked him of he wanted a Topo Chico instead ? He agreed, but it never came. (Though it was still on the bill, we didn't say anything because it was easier to just pay for it). We all wanted to try some deserts, but we agreed that by the time we ordered it and received it from the kitchen, it could easily take another 30 minutes, so we skipped it. All in all, the saving grace was that the food was enjoyable. Which is another reason why I have been to this restaurant multiple times. On this evening, the waiter we had was in some other place mentally though. We felt like more of an imposition to her than valued guests or customers. The constant mistakes and forgetting to bring anything we asked for otherwise was disappointing. Also, the tremendous amount of time the whole thing took and the fact that she never bothered to even check on us or ask if the food was correct.. I was embarrassed because I brought friends who were visiting from out of town and I had hyped this place up, saying how good it is and the service was terrible. The prices here are on par with most other restaurants In Springdale. The food is very tasty and of good quality, so they have that covered. Unfortunately the service on this night, was not good. Honestly if I do go back and I find myself in the same servers section, I will ask to be moved into another servers section. Everything else was great though. read more

We ordered the shrimp ceviche, it came in a 4 ounce dish and it looked like pico de gallo with 3-4 pieces of small shrimp. It also came with tortilla chips and something they called salsa. They should be ashamed calling it salsa. It was made with tomato paste,canned sauce with a small amount of cilantro and onions. Nothing fresh about it. We read a lot of great things about Bit and Spur while vacationing in Zion, so we decided to go! Like other restaurants in Zion, it seems like if you want to make reservations, you have to make them the day before. However, even though on the day of, it showed no availability, the restaurant was wide open. In terms of food, it's a classic Tex-Mex spot with fun twists to Mexican food. We started off with stuffed jalapeño poppers. These were a little bit of a disappointment because they were basically jalapeños (not breaded) stuffed with cream cheese and ricotta, with some sauce sprinkled on it. Very one note for flavor. For dinner, I ordered the Chili Verde Pot Pie and my husband ordered chicken and cheese enchiladas. The cheese enchilada was super cheesy, which I loved. The chicken enchiladas were nothing to write home about, as the chicken was bland. The chili pot pie was a hit, if you're someone who likes chili or stews. There was a decent amount of spice that surprised me. The biscuit complimented that spice nicely. The pork was super tender and delicious. I know other reviews called this dish small, but I personally thought despite the size, it was quite a hearty meal. Overall, I think Bit & Spur is a decent option to check out in Zion. I would recommend going for their true Tex Mex specialties, as that seems to be money. read more
