Great place for brunch with good food at reasonable prices in an uncrowded, pleasant space with nice people taking care of you. Ever go to a place that's just so all-around nice that there's not much to say? SweetDiner is it.

This is a cute spot that makes for a great breakfast and brunch place. There's plenty of seating. It's spacious, bright, comfy, and clean. The staff were all friendly and attentive. And we never felt rushed or anything. The menu is plentiful with lots of different options, both sweet and savory. And the portions are plentiful. I opted for the birria omelette which was delicious. Incredibly yum and very filling. I would definitely recommend this spot and will be back.

Sweet Diner is the go to brunch spot me and my friends here in Milwaukee. Even during the busy brunch hours they have always been able to seat large groups quickly as they have quite a bit of space in the restaurant. The restaurant itself is decorated with a modern design and has a nice ambiance. I always get their vegetarian skillet and it always tastes 10/10. The vegetables are always perfectly seasoned and cooked and with sunny side up eggs, the meal is divine. It also comes with a side of bread and their rye bread is to die for. This is my #1 brunch recommendation in the city!

nothing crazy, very typical American diner food but a little more elevated. Service was not the best but it was packed on a Wednesday afternoon during a snow storm so they must be doing something right ‍

I came here with my friends for the first time while celebrating my friend's bachelorette party, and we were very impressed with their brunch. Since we visited on a weekend, we were extremely glad we made a reservation because the dining room was packed and parking in the area was difficult to find. That is really the only downside, but it seems to be an issue anywhere nearby. A friend and I went inside to let them know we were running a bit late due to parking, and they let us know they could not seat us until our full party of four had arrived, which was completely understandable. Luckily, the rest of our group walked in just a few minutes later. Once seated, we were immediately impressed by the dining room. The space is modern, bright, and very clean, with a beautiful aesthetic that makes it a great spot for brunch with friends. The menu is also large; there truly is something for everyone. They offer a wide variety of options, including multiple flavors of french toast, crepes, eggs benedict, skillet bowls, toasts, waffles, pancakes, and more. The prices are also very reasonable for the quality and portion sizes. I had a hard time deciding between breakfast and lunch, and everyone in our group ended up ordering something different. I ultimately chose the Reuben sandwich ($14), and it did not disappoint. The sandwich was loaded with corned beef and had great flavor, and I chose breakfast potatoes as my side, which were crispy and well seasoned. I also tried the Mean Green juice ($7), and it was refreshing and a great complement to the meal. Everyone in our party gloated about how much they enjoyed the food, and we stayed full for much of the day. I would love to come back and try even more options, specifically he breakfast options. Overall, this was a fantastic brunch experience with great food, a welcoming atmosphere, and plenty of menu options. I would absolutely come back again and would recommend making a reservation, especially on weekends.

My my my my my. I'm just having a day full of amazing experiences! I walked in and was greeted instantly. Coming in from the cold this place definitely has an upscale vibe but cozy atmosphere. I sat at the bar where I was able to get a full view of the action behind the counter. Still active with employees I could tell that the vibe was friendly. I ordered the Chilaquiles with birria. I'm not going to lie the flavor slapped me in the face. Like it seriously packed some power in a good way. I scarfed as much food down but unfortunately I was stuffed so I had to take the rest to go. Definitely a spot worth trying.... I posted this before I left the table. Now I will say the food is still worth trying but my waiter who was tasked with cleaning up since they were closing in less than hour took out the trash, didn't wash his hands and came back to assist me... and when I asked he did admit he didn't wash his hands. So I think that is just the only negative aspect of my experience. Just remember you are dealing with people and food , and if he would've touched my food or passed me a to go box that would've been extremely unsanitary. Other than that the experience was nice.

Date of visit: October 26, 2025 Having been here a couple times before, I was looking forward to returning though was also a bit nervous about the potential wait time--this place can be an utter beast when it comes to a weekend morning! Thankfully 9 a.m. on a Sunday was not too bad and our friends were already in and seated when we arrived. The west side (to the right) of the restaurant is definitely the more relaxed side of the restaurant, even the pace and sense of urgency over here seemed to be less than the left side where we sat the last time. Service was okay, our waiter, Fabricio, seemed a bit more concerned with looking in the mirror and chatting with the other staff than us, but he was very friendly and accommodating when we had his attention. The food is still where SweetDiner shines; my pumpkin spice pancakes were delicious (I got them without the pumpkin seeds--no one needs that pressure in their life), and I definitely needed the coffee that morning! That day was trick-or-treat, so I thought the pumpkin was a nice nod to the day and the season overall.

I've been to SweetDiner a handful of times now and it never disappoints. Definitely one of my favorite breakfast spots in MKE. Although they have a large inviting dining area, they do fill up fast so wait times can get long...but I tend to go earlier to get seated right away. Some of my favorite dishes I've had are the chicken&waffles, Crème Brûlée Style french toast, and the egg plate. More recently tried the fiesta tacos with chorizo which were filling and had great flavor. I appreciate that all the ingredients taste fresh and the wait staff is often efficient, especially when busy. They also offer a wide variety of coffee/tea drinks, and alcohol/ cocktails fitting for any occasion. I would definitely recommend trying out SweetDiner if you're in the neighborhood or searching for a trendy brunch spot!

Food 5/5 Service 4.5/5 Ambiance 4.5/5 Located in Milwaukee's Historic Third Ward SweetDiner immediately looked like quite the high-end place. The coffee bar immediately greets you on the way in, and the rest of the restaurant practically made me feel underdressed. That being said, the environment definitely felt right for a Sunday brunch - and the food backed that up nicely. Coming from Texas, I grew up a ton on Southern food. Fried chicken and biscuits and gravy were staples back home, and I knew I had to try it when I came to SweetDiner. This dish was incredible - an amazingly savory gravy, fluffy biscuits, amazingly fried chicken, and eggs to round it out - just a whole plate of nothing but richness. I cut through that richness and fat with some fresh squeezed strawberry + orange juice - a timeless and well executed combo here. Overall, every dish looked media-worthy, and mine definitely hit all expectations and then some. Would happily come back again.

Sweet diner is a popular brunch spot located in third Ward. We came on a Saturday morning and was able to get a table for five people with a low wait time. We were greeted promptly by our server and she was great the entire time. She provided great recommendations kept our drinks filled at all times and provided us an enjoyable experience. They had a valentines special raspberry latte, which I got and really enjoyed because it didn't taste super artificial and was just a light raspberry flavor. For brunch itself I got the chicken and waffles and they give you three of the biggest tenders I have seen at a brunch place. They also have their own specialty waffle iron that spells, Sweet Diner, which I thought was super cute. I also tried a bite of my friends, banana Nutella pancakes, and it was super rich, but very good. My suggestion is if you come here to share a meal because the portions are huge.

I absolutely love this restaurant. My girls and I go here monthly. Try and get there earlier on the weekends to avoid a long wait. The food and service are always top notch despite them always being busy. My kids love the decor inside and call it our "fancy" breakfast spot. My daughters had the Chorizo Hash and the chicken and waffles. Both came out hot and fresh. I sneaked a taste of each and loved it. I had the Birria grilled cheese. It's very good but a little messy to eat. It had the Bourbon Brunch to drink. I highly recommend that too. Can't wait to come back and try something new!

If you're in Milwaukee and love breakfast, you have to check out Sweet Diner. Honestly, I think I had one of the best breakfasts of my life here. The waitress recommended the biscuits and gravy, and wow--she did not steer me wrong. The gravy was perfection: flavorful without being overly thick or heavy. Normally with gravy dishes, I end up scraping most of it off just to enjoy the biscuits and chicken, but this one was different. The homemade buttery chive biscuits, the chicken, and that balanced gravy just melted together beautifully. Add the poached eggs on top, and it felt like a true chef's masterpiece. I'm drooling just writing this. We also ordered a chai latte with vanilla, which was this sweet little tea treat--light, cozy, and topped off perfectly. And because we couldn't stop at just one dish, we tried the Meat Lovers too. Packed with all the meats, it definitely lived up to the name and was really satisfying. Sweet Diner is one of those spots where every detail feels thoughtful, from the food to the drinks. I'm already plotting my return visit.

Love this place! The food was phenomenal and they were very sensitive to my gluten-free needs. My friend who is not gluten-free shared the pancake with me and also tried the crispy potatoes which are cooked in a separate fryer. She liked them as much as I did! Beautiful ambience and the staff is very friendly and accommodating. I would return here next time I am in Milwaukee and highly recommend.

- delicious food, good service, cozy ambiance - no…read morereservation can be made for brunch - excited to come back for a sweet option Happy to get a seat at this tasty diner! With their rotating menu items and weekly specials, I am definitely coming back after having such a flavorful and fun meal. Waited about an hour on a busy Saturday since one of their locations was closed, but the food was well worth it! I had gotten Wolfie's Patty Melt and it was filling and a great start to our morning. The bread was nice and crisp from the buttered griddle and held everything together perfectly. Inside the crunchy sandwich were 2 seasoned patties and enough gooey cheese to make it rich, but not heavy. To contrast the fatty flavor, there was a slightly tart bacon jam and onions that were truly caramelized. Overall really tasty sandwich with no notes! In the description it says there is a sauce, but I could only taste the onions and jam, so I'm not too sure what it added. The side of fries was ok, but I think some crispy thinner ones would have been better with the sandwich. For my drink, I got a hot Ube Chai. The chai was strong and had a spicy kick to each sip. Already a subtle flavor, the ube was not very strong with the chai mixed in, but still added fun color. The design on top was also very cute and added another dink of sweetness. My girlfriend got the Spamelette for her main and it was pretty pretty and delish. Not too often that you see Spam, but when you see it, trust it earned its spot on a menu! The big chunks of Spam and accouterments gave each bite a pleasant feel and one full of flavor. I was skeptic of the mushrooms at first, but they were seasoned well and added another kind of texture to the meal. I think my favorite toppings were the drizzle of kewpie and the green onions... not sure if it counts as a topping, but the tamari glaze of the spam made it delish. Taste aside, it was also a pretty meal! Pook got a Hot Chocolate for her drink. Nice simple drink for the cold weather. We would have liked to see some more chocolatey flavor, but still a good milky drink for the meal. This drink also had a fun design and nice cream top, yum yum yum. This was such a tasty meal and they have lots of other options that I was debating on getting - I guess we gotta come back! It was a really cold day, but the cozy atmosphere and hot drinks with our food made it a great experience. We had originally planned on going to the Downtown location, but it was closed because of heating problems. I wish there was a bit more uniformity between their menus, especially since the Brewers Hill menu has different items and is smaller, so it feels like there is quite the difference between locations. Going off of that point, I am excited to try their dinner menu when it releases and see how it compares to when we ate Downtown! I am not sure how the places differ, but I felt the food here to be more flavorful than the other location. In addition to the dining area, they had a small shop and coffee area in the back while you waited for your table. It was fun and made time pass faster, but I feel as though that area is also perfect for dining. Maybe there are specific reasons why it isn't, but just a thought. Hope to come back soon!

When we arrived (about two hours after opening), we were quoted a 1.5-hour wait. Not totally surprising given how popular the spot is, but definitely something to plan around. We've skipped it in the past because we were too hungry to wait, and honestly, that might still be a factor for future visits. The space itself is cozy and on the smaller side, with the bar area taking up a good portion of the restaurant. It has a lively atmosphere, but because it was completely packed and music was playing, it got pretty loud, loud enough that it was hard to hear each other at times, and even a bit difficult to catch everything our server was saying. That said, the waitstaff were friendly and doing their best in a busy environment. As for the food and drinks, definitely the highlight. We ordered an ube latte and a chai, both of which were enjoyable. The standout dish was the breakfast burger with bacon jam. It was fantastic, rich, messy, and indulgent in the best way. The bacon jam added just the right amount of sweetness to balance out the savory, greasy goodness, and I was completely on board with it. We also ordered a few of their breakfast plates, which came with massive smashed potatoes. Overall, Uncle Wolfie's delivered on flavor and vibe, but the long wait and noise level might make us think twice about when we go back. I'd definitely return, but ideally during a less busy time. Otherwise, if I'm starving and don't want to wait, I might end up trying somewhere else.

Like Sahara Desert dry. Maybe this was an anomaly and their other baked goods are better, but I'd be hesitant to try them based on this coffee cake. Even though the website says the side is potato pancakes with applesauce, my fish fry came with fries. They ended up being the best part of the meal, which I certainly wasn't expecting. Still, I was disappointed cause I prefer potato pancakes and was given their inclusion as an expectation. The wheat bread itself was ok, but the butter was oddly unsalted. The fish, of which there was three pieces, was battered with a hint of beer, but like the butter for the bread there was no salt to speak of in the batter. As much as I didn't enjoy the unsalted butter for the bread, not having salt in the batter for the fish managed to be more unpleasant. Maybe Blue's Egg should just stick with serving breakfast items instead of adding something temporary that they clearly aren't pros at.

I surprisingly don't have many options in my "MKE - Fish Fry" collection that are near downtown, but Swinging Door Exchange was one of them. I was pressed for time, so I placed a to go order rather than dining in. I got the combo fish fry (two pieces of cod, two pieces of perch, and three fried shrimp) with potato pancakes. I was also very easily talked into the half rack rib appetizer. The ribs were good, even though I prefer sauce that's more sweet and smokey. Their sauce was on the tangy side with a tease of spice that really only became noticeable when the majority of the half rack was gone. If I were in the mood for ribs as my main meal, I'd consider getting theirs as an entree. The two potato pancakes weren't homemade; instead, they were premade hash brown patties that some other restaurants also serve with their fish frys. These were perfectly acceptable in lieu of homemade pancakes. The cod tasted great, but the breading didn't hold up very well. Either the fish itself was too wet or the two block walk back to my car allowed for condensation to wreck it or possibly both. The perch was not yellow lake perch but probably something like pike perch. Even though both kinds of fish and the shrimp were all good sized portions, $29 feels like a lot. I wouldn't say no to it, though, if I were dining in next time and avoid the extra cost of their takeout fee. Shout-out to the bartenders working that night. The bar area was absolutely packed, but both of the ones I talked to about placing my order were friendly and helpful even with being super busy.
