Fun little local diner. My waitress, Kristin, was on top of things. Took order right away and food came out quickly. I had the eggs Benedict with fruit rather than hash browns. The fruit was pineapple and strawberries. No nasty melon!! Yay! Unfortunately my eggs were under cooked. I do not like runny whites so I didn't eat much. This was my second time dining here but it seems I forgot to review it on my first! I stopped in for breakfast around 9 am on a Saturday morning and was seated right away with my party. This is a relatively small restaurant so I was surprised to have no wait at peak breakfast time. This place has all your classics and then some. I had the breakfast tacos which were good but I think I'd try something different next time. My parents regularly dine here and I know they rave about the omelets and French toast. On a side note, I love the location on North Ave. I don't typically drink coffee with my breakfast but rather after, so it was nice to walk less than a block to Fiddleheads following my meal. read more

We've gone by this place countless times, in part because we are regulars at Ray's liquor store. For whatever reason, we'd never given it much of a thought. After a trip to Ray's a few weeks back, we couldn't decide on a place to eat and thought, let's go there. What a fun place. It has that little diner vibe. We got sandwiches but I imagine it's also a great place to get breakfast. I think my favorite thing is the "kitchen sink" approach to the French fries. Cute little place that was very busy when we arrived, so we took that as a good sign. We sat at a table outside since it was a gorgeous morning. My guy had the crème brulee french toast which he practically inhaled and he did give me a taste and it was as good as he claimed. :) I selected the make your own omelet option with crispy hash browns. The omelet was so flavorful and really well made so I was happy with my choice. The hash browns were not crispy at all, which my husband pointed out before I even tasted them. Date of visit: 2/13/23 I have a monthly-ish lunch date with a co-worker and we wanted to hit up somewhere we had not been before that wasn't too far away from the office. She stumbled across this place on Google and decided to take a chance--so glad we did! This is the epitome of hole-in-the-wall diners, from the small seating area with a substantial counter to the open kitchen where you can see much of the food being made, to the unpretentious and respectable coffee being served. And I loved everything about it! They are only open from 8 to 2, which means no early pre-work breakfasts for me, but that's okay. I had the chicken and waffles, and it kept up with some of the heavyweights in the area such as Tupelo Honey and Crafty Cow! It was served simply, no room or time for silly frills here, this is serious eating. I almost--almost!--felt weird snapping a pic of my food, but as they say at Yelp, "my phone eats first." Definitely recommend this place for its great food and service. read more

Food is great, service is friendly, except for one waitress. My issue is with the clientele. Every time I go there I only pickup because I I get stares from the patrons, as if I didn't belong there. As a woman POC, I find that very disturbing given it's 2024!!!!!!! And it doesn't matter how I'm dressed, I could be picking up in my scrubs or pajamas I get the same stares. Anyhow, for that reason I do not frequent the establishment as much as I would like to. read more

If you do not get the beast burrito you are missing out- that is definitely my favorite on the menu. For the prizes the portion sizes are amazing! I appreciate that they do not take reservations so on the weekends expect to wait a bit, but it is soo worth the wait! My friend and I decided to stop by for brunch on a recent Saturday. We sat on the patio since the weather was great. Service was very friendly and attentive. I tried a quesadilla and it was excellent. The veggiezilla quesadilla had eggs, peppers, onions, avocado, tomato, artichoke and pepper jack. I was impressed by the size of the menu and the veggie friendly and meat offerings on the menu. My friend had the pork belly sweet potato power hash with two eggs any style | pork belly | crispy sweet potato | onions | peppers | and veggie power blend. She enjoyed it. Portions were very large and both of us took leftovers home. The small mimosa was good, but I should have sprung for the larger size. Like their sister restaurant, North Ave Grill, this place does NOT disappoint! We got right in for lunch, and it was really cool to have the cooks pretty close to the tables to watch them make the magic! We got the Buffalo chicken quesadilla and the chicken avocado quesadilla, and both were phenomenal! However, nothing could beat the potato soup! Probably the best potato soup I have ever eaten! Again, we had a great take-out lunch from MidTown. Ordered the southern turkey sliders (scrambled eggs) w power slaw and better dig the pig burger w fries as planned. First of all both dishes came in very generous large portions! The southern turkey sliders were overall tasty but a bit dry, which was actually as what we had expected given biscuits and deep fried turkey were very hard to keep moist. So we hoped the Swiss cheese and cranberry sauce could reduce the dryness. The cranberry sauce was not over sweet and you could see real cranberries in it. So good! But when the cheese tasted kind of lacking and the scrambled eggs were also a bit dry, the sliders were still on the dry side. The mouthwatering better dig the pig burger was absolutely wonderful. It tasted as good as it looked. Very flavorful, soft and juicy patty with two perfectly cooked pieces of pork belly. The melted gouda cheese mixed with the bacon-onion jam were delicious and held the bread and meat together. Cheesy, meaty but not over greasy. Impressive! Power slaw was very refreshing and had a decent variety of vegetables. Sauce was not overpowering at all. The fries were a mix of different shapes but were all crispy and delicious. read more

Visited here two days in a row. First for breakfast with my wife and we both ordered the Eggs Benedict with ham. It included hashbrowns, two large eggs, an excellent hollandaise sauce and a thick slab of ham on top of two large English Muffin halves. The plates came out hot and delicious and the eggs were done to perfection. Topped it off with a mimosa for my wife and a large orange juice for me. It was a lovely breakfast overseeing all the action on North Avenue in Wauwatosa. The waitstaff were very friendly and accommodating. Because they are related to North Avenue Grill, all the food is astounding! If there restaurant to the east is busy, give this location a try! There is a small patio if you chose to dine Al fresco and also several tables and bench seating along the western wall inside (the kitchen is within view so you can see everything that's being made). The next day we craved a Friday Fish Fry so on checking Yelp read they had excellent offerings there too! We tried to call in an order for a fish fry, but their phone system was a little bit hinky that day, so I drove over the few blocks from my home and waited only 15 minutes for two Perch Fry's. To our amazement we received six very large pieces of fresh tasting and lightly battered perch per order, a choice of potato, (ours a baked potato and french fries) hash browns are also an option. We asked for Rye-bread which wasn't on the menu, and were presented two large pieces of marble rye along with coleslaw, tartar sauce, and lemon. We also placed an order of onion strings (a decadent treat) and two cups of Clam Chowder. Since we're only a few blocks from the restaurant, the food arrived home very fresh, hot and definitely not as greasy as some fish fry's I'd had recently from the area. The only disappointment was the clam chowder. Mine had potato but no discernible clam in the cup. Though my wife said hers had a couple pieces. We will definitely go back for both breakfast and fish fry. It seems they have a very brisk takeout business. At 4:45 on a Friday only three or four tables were occupied when I arrived for my takeout order, though several takeout orders went out while I was waiting. We don't understand why we didn't try them sooner! read more

I loved the fact that the fries are an assortment of shapes. The portion was so big that I only finished half the meal. The chicken was tender and the wrap had a perfect amount of a veggies.
