Breakfast at SweetDiner was the perfect way to start my birthday celebration! A party of four of us came to SweetDiner on a Sunday morning, and while most of the tables in the main dining area were occupied, the host found us a table in the side room. This was perfect for us because it was much quieter in that room so we were able to have a conversation while enjoying our breakfasts! The design of the restaurant is so beautiful, with pink accent walls, floor-to-ceiling windows, and painted flowers. It was the perfect backdrop to take photos of our food! Our waitress, Sophie, was so great! She was very kind and welcoming, she made sure we got our food quickly, and she even put a birthday candle in my pancakes! For my birthday breakfast, I indulged in some chocolate chip pancakes. It was definitely a chocolate overload, with chocolate chips inside and on top of the pancakes, and a generous drizzle of chocolate syrup on top. It was a big portion of 3 pancakes, and while they were definitely delicious, they were so rich that I couldn't finish it all! My sister had the cinnamon icing French toast, which looked like a cross between a cinnamon roll and French toast. She finished it all and said it was amazing! My dad took the more savory route and ordered the meat lovers skillet. It came with over-easy eggs and breakfast potatoes, and it was another generous serving that was a good deal for the price. I loved the SweetDiner, and I would definitely come here more often if I lived closer! read more

Sweet Diner remains a favorite breakfast/brunch spot in MKE - especially with girlfriends aesthetically it is so cute an girly with its mid-century yet chic vibes. I love the marble tops and pink accents. We went at 9am today and had no wait which was a pleasant surprise seeing as though going for brunch hours can some times result in an hour plus waitlist. We shared the Nutella crepes and ham and potato hash with Gruyère cheese - both were amazingggg, the crepes especially!!! Our food came out SO fast (TG as I was starving). Our waitress was attentive and punctual. The reason I'm giving it 4 stars is because I got a coffee after and ordered a cortado but was given a 12 oz cup of hot whole milk with one shot. I did ask for an off menu item, but they should just have said they don't know how to make it rather than serve an incorrect drink. They were kind and gave me a black coffee instead at my request, but sadly that was also very watery and underwhelming. Hopefully next time I will have a better coffee experience! read more

This is a cute spot that makes for a great breakfast and brunch place. There's plenty of seating. It's spacious, bright, comfy, and clean. The staff were all friendly and attentive. Even during the busy brunch hours they have always been able to seat large groups quickly as they have quite a bit of space in the restaurant. I came here with my friends for the first time while celebrating my friend's bachelorette party, and we were very impressed with their brunch. Since we visited on a weekend, we were extremely glad we made a reservation because the dining room was packed and parking in the area was difficult to find. A friend and I went inside to let them know we were running a bit late due to parking, and they let us know they could not seat us until our full party of four had arrived, which was completely understandable. Luckily, the rest of our group walked in just a few minutes later. Once seated, we were immediately impressed by the dining room. The space is modern, bright, and very clean, with a beautiful aesthetic that makes it a great spot for brunch with friends. The menu is also large; there truly is something for everyone. They offer a wide variety of options, including multiple flavors of french toast, crepes, eggs benedict, skillet bowls, toasts, waffles, pancakes, and more. The prices are also very reasonable for the quality and portion sizes. I had a hard time deciding between breakfast and lunch, and everyone in our group ended up ordering something different. I ultimately chose the Reuben sandwich ($14), and it did not disappoint. The sandwich was loaded with corned beef and had great flavor, and I chose breakfast potatoes as my side, which were crispy and well seasoned. I also tried the Mean Green juice ($7), and it was refreshing and a great complement to the meal. Everyone in our party gloated about how much they enjoyed the food, and we stayed full for much of the day. I would love to come back and try even more options, specifically he breakfast options. My my my my my. I'm just having a day full of amazing experiences! I walked in and was greeted instantly. Coming in from the cold this place definitely has an upscale vibe but cozy atmosphere. I sat at the bar where I was able to get a full view of the action behind the counter. Still active with employees I could tell that the vibe was friendly. I ordered the Chilaquiles with birria. I'm not going to lie the flavor slapped me in the face. Like it seriously packed some power in a good way. I scarfed as much food down but unfortunately I was stuffed so I had to take the rest to go. Definitely a spot worth trying.... I posted this before I left the table. Now I will say the food is still worth trying but my waiter who was tasked with cleaning up since they were closing in less than hour took out the trash, didn't wash his hands and came back to assist me... and when I asked he did admit he didn't wash his hands. So I think that is just the only negative aspect of my experience. I've been to SweetDiner a handful of times now and it never disappoints. Definitely one of my favorite breakfast spots in MKE. Although they have a large inviting dining area, they do fill up fast so wait times can get long...but I tend to go earlier to get seated right away. Some of my favorite dishes I've had are the chicken&waffles, Crème Brûlée Style french toast, and the egg plate. More recently tried the fiesta tacos with chorizo which were filling and had great flavor. I appreciate that all the ingredients taste fresh and the wait staff is often efficient, especially when busy. They also offer a wide variety of coffee/tea drinks, and alcohol/ cocktails fitting for any occasion. Sweet diner is a popular brunch spot located in third Ward. We came on a Saturday morning and was able to get a table for five people with a low wait time. We were greeted promptly by our server and she was great the entire time. She provided great recommendations kept our drinks filled at all times and provided us an enjoyable experience. They had a valentines special raspberry latte, which I got and really enjoyed because it didn't taste super artificial and was just a light raspberry flavor. For brunch itself I got the chicken and waffles and they give you three of the biggest tenders I have seen at a brunch place. They also have their own specialty waffle iron that spells, Sweet Diner, which I thought was super cute. The west side (to the right) of the restaurant is definitely the more relaxed side of the restaurant, even the pace and sense of urgency over here seemed to be less than the left side where we sat the last time. Service was okay, our waiter, Fabricio, seemed a bit more concerned with looking in the mirror and chatting with the other staff than us, but he was very friendly and accommodating when we had his attention. The food is still where SweetDiner shines; my pumpkin spice pancakes were delicious (I got them without the pumpkin seeds--no one needs that pressure in their life), and I definitely needed the coffee that morning! The waitress recommended the biscuits and gravy, and wow--she did not steer me wrong. The gravy was perfection: flavorful without being overly thick or heavy. Normally with gravy dishes, I end up scraping most of it off just to enjoy the biscuits and chicken, but this one was different. The homemade buttery chive biscuits, the chicken, and that balanced gravy just melted together beautifully. Add the poached eggs on top, and it felt like a true chef's masterpiece. I'm drooling just writing this. We also ordered a chai latte with vanilla, which was this sweet little tea treat--light, cozy, and topped off perfectly. And because we couldn't stop at just one dish, we tried the Meat Lovers too. Packed with all the meats, it definitely lived up to the name and was really satisfying. Delicious! I got the Birria Skillet which was so good. A huge portion and lots of flavor. I liked the salsa and crema that came with it and also added some hot sauce. The birria meat was very good. Service was good, while she asked about more coffee our water was never refilled. The QR code at the table states an hour limit so if busy not ideal place to catch up with friend as at an hour they bring the check and boxes. The inside is very modern and clean. This sunny brunch spot opens a bit earlier than others in the area, which made it an obvious choice for us. We shared 2 dishes, the Classic Eggs Benedict and the Chorizo Hash with eggs over easy. Both were quite tasty! One unexpected highlight was the biscuit that we added to the Hash order, it was $1 extra but it was worth the extra dough, literally and figuratively. A coworker and I came for breakfast on a whim after a long 3rd shift at the hospital. It was a Friday morning, around 8:15, and there was plenty of street parking right out front. She had a mocktail that I took a sip of, it was very good and very sweet which is what she wanted. I got a decaf latte that was delicious. We came in today at around noon, so we were expecting a really long wait time but we were seated in about 20 minutes! The service was really good, we ordered and got our food in less than 15 minutes. Everything we ordered was all really good! The corned beef hash needed a bit more seasoning, but I asked for hot sauce and that helped. This is also a minor detail but the butter for the toast is whipped, which I am a sucker for. The french toast was amazing, all the toppings blended really well and it didn't even need that much syrup. The place is well decorated and I loved how they had little succulents! I did feel like we were rushed a bit to get out, since our server would take our plates right away and even gave us the bill before we were done eating. Superb breakfast spot in downtown Milwaukee! Food is next level good. The BIRRIA OMLETTE was amazing as I've never had that in an omelette. Everyone else in my party had super tasty food as well. Back again Sweet Diner, and yet again the service is the ONE thing that is not living up to the hype... This visit was with a bigger group, 7 adults and a baby, were told the whole group had to be present to sit down (totally understandable). Once we did sit, my husband took the baby to be changed and for some reason our waiter would not even come greet our table until my husband was back and sitting at the table. Once our waiter did come around, we politely asked for water and said we would be ready for our drink order momentarily. Well 15 minutes later we were still waiting... He took our drink and food order. Food and drinks were great! But then did not see him again until we were ready for boxes and the check. Big fan of the food, big fan of the ambiance of the restaurant, but not a fan of the service. And you know what, maybe some people want to be left alone while enjoying brunch/lunch, but I personally appreciate feeling checked in on our a little bit of conversing with my wait staff.
