Nigiri and Junai Sashimi Platter
Brooke D.

Came here for dinner and did the all you can eat special and oh my gosh what a good deal! $37 per person for dinner and you can pretty much order everything on the menu with only a few items on a 1 time per person limit. We definitely ate more than our moneys worth and left super full! Overall, the sushi was very good for an AYCE special. Our personal favorites were the beef nigiri, spicy tuna crackers, the hand rolls, and the candy cane and final destination rolls. I would not recommend the creamy shrimp, conch nigiri, or the sweet shrimp nigiri. Service here was awesome!! Our server was super nice and the food came out unbelievably fast. Overall, very nice restaurant and I would definitely come back again!

We tried all you can eat at sushi junai 2. The vibe is casual. There was no wait to sit. The price for dinner was 36.99$ per person. The menu is extensive. There are a couple of special items on the menu that you can order once per person. We did 2 rounds. First round they were fast. Second round took a long time even though it was a smaller order. The quality is average but the food is tasty. Overall it was a good experience. The desserts were so good.

Went here on the recommendation of a few Yelpers and yes, it's the best AYCE I've had in Austin. The sparse, underwhelming (and chilly, wear a sweater!) interior shouldn't fool you, the sushi is legit. The pieces come out fast and are delicious. The deal at dinner is you can order anything, but the special menu items are in red and you can just get those once each. Hey, that works! The Sashimi Special was my favorite, and both the salmon and tuna hand rolls were absolutely stuffed full. Nigiri fish pieces were smallish but not overloaded with rice so, I mean, just order more. Our server was efficient, friendly, and knowledgeable. Total after tax but before tip was $40 even. Heck yeah. I'll be back.

Where else can you get a sushi role with bulgogi on top?! Definitely lots did unique options at this all you can eat place. Be prepared - the staff moves fast so don't dilly dally.

Came here with some friends and after trying the very few ayce sushi places in Austin, this is our favorite. We came here two weeks in a row on Friday nights and it wasn't very busy, which was great since we didn't have to wait for a table or wait long for our food to come out. I like how fresh the fish is and the portions of the nigiri. The amount of rice to fish ratio is perfect for ayce especially if you want to eat your moneys worth. I love all the variety of choices you have for ayce! I will definitely be back. So good.

We came on a Sunday at 11am and was the second group there. Service was fast. Our waitress was nice. Tables and seats were clean. We waited 15 mins for the sushi rice to get cooked when we ordered at 11:15am. We got the AYCE sushi for $29.95 per person. On the menu it shows 29.95 per person without sushi but what it means is you can't get the sushi nigiri 2 pc section.... You can order all the sushi rolls and everything else. We ordered: * special sashimi 3/5 some pieces there was still the tendon line in the sashimi and it was chewy. Bad cut of sashimis . The only one I liked was the salmon. * SAlMON HOlC Roll : 4/5 tempura was fried perfectly and was good. Wish there was thicker salmon pieces. Wasn't spicy this time but it was perfect. * SAlmON loveR ROll: 1/5: lacking in flavor and wasn't balanced. * Spicy TuNA Cracker - 5/5 delicious and crunchy; texture delight! * SAlMON POKi: 5/5, love this and wish this came earlier on so I could add it on the sushi rolls. * ex girlfriend- 1/5 I was not a fan of this dish. * strawberry mochi: 5/5 the best strawberry movhi I had! Sooo good ! Perfect to top off the meal. Do I recommend this place? We got our moneys worth for AYCE but I think this place is may be worth it for dinner better so you can order the sushi nigiri instead of just the rolls. The rolls had a lot of rice. Fish quality was subpar. The only fish I like that was salmon. Everything else was fishy or texture was off. I've had many sashimi and haven't had a sashimi with tendon or muscle line in it until here. OK place to get AYCE sushi if you're on a budget but I feel there's other AYCE options with better fish quality.

So I was a little hesitant when someone suggested AYCE sushi but prayed to the gods and decided to try it. Needless to say this place has been added to my saved list :) They have a large selection to choose from although not everything is available if you come for lunch. We went for dinner so everything on the menu was available and all the ones we ordered were delicious. Another thing to note is some items you can only order once per person. The menu does indicate which are the items. We came on a Friday and it was busy but didn't need to wait for table. You write what you want on a piece of paper and the waitress/waiter comes by to pick it up. They let you order two things at a time per person and our waitress was fast. It's casual and from what I could tell the place is clean and the service was good too. They came by often not only to take our order but remove plates too. Definitely will be coming back for the price, quality & service you can't beat it.

This place came highly recommended and I can see why. If you're a nigiri fan you will love it here. I love the rice to fish ratio. No big chunks of rice here. You get your money's worth for sure. Some of them come with a sauce on top which took it to the next level. We tried so many things that, believe it or not, I actually didn't get pics of everything. The menu is huge. Some of the appetizers were hit and miss. Skip the bulgogi fries! We didn't get too many rolls because I was told they are pretty hefty in size. Had to pass on the ramen and udon as well. The hand rolls were packed which isn't usually a bad thing, but it did make it hard to eat. It kept falling apart. Warning if you get the poki (poke), it is a huge portion. Like a rice bowl full of fish and seaweed. I ordered it at the end of my meal and struggled to finish it. Delicious though! They have green tea ice cream for dessert which is a major plus for me. There's have plenty of seating inside. Service was good with just a few hiccups. You write down what you want to order on a piece of paper that they have on the table. Some items were still forgotten. No biggie. Overall, I can't wait to come back!

Sushi Junai 2 is honestly our favorite sushi spot in Austin, especially for all you can eat. We've been coming here for about three years, and it has never disappointed. The sushi is always fresh, the rolls are delicious, and the service is consistently great. We always leave happy and satisfied. Highly recommend!

Sushi Junai 2 is the perfect spot to eat your body weight in sushi for an affordable price! Don't expect the fanciest or highest quality sushi but that isn't why you come here...this is the place you come when you want all you can eat sushi, soup, noodles, fried rice, and more judgement free. I arrived around 7:00 pm on a Saturday night and was 6th on the waitlist (joined through Yelp before going into the restaurant)... I got seated about 30 minutes later. FAST FACTS: * Parking - plenty available in the lot in front of the restaurant * Reservations - no but you can join the waitlist through Yelp before you arrive to save time * All You Can Eat (AYCE) sushi dinner from 3:00 - 10:00 pm for $36.95 (ordering time limited to 90 minutes) * Menu items in red are limited to one order for AYCE * Closed on Sundays SERVICE - So impressive! Drinks were brought out quickly and refilled throughout the meal. You write your order on a slip of paper and stick it at the end of the table... it was picked up quickly every time and the food came out SO fast! The workers were all very pleasant and efficient. PRICING - The total was $80 after tax ($6.10) but before tip for two "All You Can Eat" dinners ($36.95 each). I added up the a la carte prices for all the items we ate and it was $220 worth of sushi so I feel like the pricing was INCREDIBLY reasonable considering the volume of food you can eat and the variety offered. Obviously, if you aren't very hungry, it may not be worth it. ITEMS ORDERED: Gyoza (6/10) - steamed was good but nothing special Spicy Tuna Cracker (7/10) - tasty quick appetizer Shrimp Fried Rice (7/10) - exactly what you'd expect but came out hot and fresh Korea Bulgogi (6/10) - tasty if you want a good portion of beef Screaming "O" (7/10) - limited to one order... worth trying! White "O" (7/10) - limited to one order... also worth trying! Yuzu Yellowtail (8/10) - simple but so flavorful Sweet Shrimp (4/10) - pass Candy Cane (7/10) - Japanese mustard sauce is delicious Casanova (6/10) - sriracha is on the sweeter side and inside of the roll lacks flavor Crazy Crab (8/10) - definitely recommend if you love crab Dragon (6/10) - pretty basic EX-Girlfriend (7/10) - shrimp tempura inside was very good Final Destination (8/10) - loved this combo... definitely recommend if you love crab OMG (6/10) - S.O. sauce is tasty but the rest was basic Sashimi Special (8/10) - limited to one order... highly recommend because each is so unique Ice Brownie (7/10) - it's a basic bowl of some brownie squares, vanilla ice cream, whipped cream, and chocolate sauce but it's a great sweet treat Mochi Ice Cream (7/10) - strawberry was good! This was my first time at Sushi Junai 2 but I will definitely be back the next time I want all you can eat sushi and would recommend it to others who want the same! I wouldn't recommend it for a la carte sushi but it's a great option for trying a bunch of different sushi rolls at one set price.

Ask the Community - Sushi Junai 2

Is this all you can eat?

Yes! They have a menu that you can just keep ordering items from until you're full.

Can you pay dinner price during lunch time and get the full menu?

Yes.

The menu says no nigiri for the lunch price, but does not say that under the dinner pricing. Is nigiri included in the dinner pricing?

Yes, I've gotten nigiri many times for dinner AYCE

Do they do AYCE on the weekend? If so, what are the hours? Thanks!

Yes! You can always order straight off the menu, or order the AYCE during regular business hours

Do they charge for lefotvers?

Yes they say they do if you leave too much uneaten food and you are doing the AYCE. But we've left couple of pieces that didn't taste good or fresh and they were ok with it

Is there a difference in offering for their lunch and dinner?

The lunch is 21.95 plus tax. The dinner is 29.95 plus tax. Dinner includes nigiri, lunch does not. Also they charge for leftovers so order what you can eat. Customers often are confused about that. But it makes sense since an ayce place like that… Read more

Tax and tip not included. My favorite bites were the maguro blue fin (an incredible start to the night!), the buttery Kanpachi amberjack, and the Wagyu ribeye with salted egg yolk (steak and eggs). We knew we wanted sake, and Lane pointed us toward Brooklyn Kura -- a sake crafted in New York using the city's water, which lends it a distinctly smooth and unique character.
