This was hands down the worst sushi my family has ever eaten. The sushi rice was incredibly soggy and mushy. We could not eat most of the sushi, so we request to exchange it for something else. The only reason this place gets a three star and not a one is because most of the servers were very accommodating and were quick to swap out our disgusting sushi for something else. According to one of the servers, the person who usually makes the sushi rice was off due to it being Christmas Day. Aside from the horrible tasting sushi, the miso soup and the salad dressing was below average. The only dish that was decent was the udon. We will not be giving this place another visit, it was a total waste of time and money. What I was hoping would be a memorable Christmas dinner for my parents who just moved to California with huge expectations of good sushi restaurants, it turned out to be a huge disappointment. This is one of my favorite restaurants in Temecula. Why? Because it's versatile. It's a good place to go if you're on a casual outing, on a date, and it's a good place to settle if you're indecisive about where to eat. The food here is really good and inexpensive. In my opinion, food here are better than the other sushi restaurants in the area that have higher ratings. If I'm not mistaken, Sushi Boat has the biggest selection of Special Rolls. The Teriyaki chicken plate is one of my favorite things to get since it's delicious, filling, and inexpensive although I sometimes get the Teriyaki beef bowl to switch it up. Overall, the entree plates here are really inexpensive and consistently good. The free edamame upon seating is nice too. Not all places offer that. This place also has a nice kids menu. My little sister always gets the Sushi Boat and she loves it. They also serve a free scoop of ice cream at the end of your meal. My absolute favorite thing at this restaurant is the salad that is served with every lunch and dinner plate alongside a bowl of miso soup. It has a really, really, really good pink dressing that I could eat for days. The atmosphere in this restaurant is pretty cool. It's nothing too fancy but it's clean and simple which is good. It's not overdone, and not dark and dingy like some other sushi restaurants. The staff here is pretty friendly, they don't all speak perfect english but they check on you plenty of times if the place isn't too busy. Ultimately, the food here is delicious, the prices are inexpensive, and the staff provides really good service. I go here at least twice a month and it never disappoints, ever. Oh, and they also offer a military discount of 20% off. I truly believe that Sushi Boat reigns supreme in sushi in Temecula. The next best sushi spots after Sushi Boat are Hana Sushi and Shogun. read more

Love this place so much! Very reasonable prices and great deals! This place is located inside the outdoor area of the mall next to California Pizza Kitchen and across from Forever 21 and the theater. They have a lunch and dinner box that comes with a salad and miso soup, 2 or 3 items you can choose from (from teriyaki to sushi and sashimi) served with white sticky rice and fruit and a scoop of ice cream for dessert all for $10-$13! The staff is always so kind and are constantly checking if you need anything! They also offer a huge variety of classic and creative rolls all of which are huge! The wasabi was perfectly spicey and the kids meal was super cute, it comes in a boat... Loved the sticky rice... My daughter and I have eaten several times at Sushi Boat in Temecula, and the food has been consistently excellent. My daughter is a huge sushi lover, but I am not. The really nice thing about Sushi Boat is that there is plenty of food on the menu that isn't sushi - and the box meals are a good value and great food! I particularly love their teriyaki beef, chicken, and, especially, the teriyaki salmon. The soup is very good, and the salad is fantastic thanks to a house dressing that is my personal favorite! My daughter has raved about their sushi, too, and has tried many different varieties along with different soups. Going by its address alone, Sushi Boat was not that easy to find. But it's inside the Promenade Mall, next-door to Red Robin and across from the Edwards/Regal Cinema. It's after 8 p.m. on Friday night, the place was pretty happening. We waited a couple of minutes and were seated at a small table. Actually, the table was too small for us. Overall the food was average, but the prices were reasonable. Both salmon and mackerel nigiri sushi were $2.95; $3.95 for eel; mixed tempura was $5.95; chicken teriyaki dinner combo, $6.95; zaru soba for $7.75 (a bit overpriced for just noodle); complimentary hot tea. The salmon pieces were particularly generous although the rice was not firmly pressed together and grain size seemed too long for Japanese rice. The sushi chef treated us to a special white tuna nigiri baked with black pepper and finished with a vinaigrette. That was pretty good: warm, barely cooked on the outside, soft and raw in the inside; the seasoning definitely came through but balanced. The person tended our table might have been the manager; he was the only one who donned a blue shirt and tie. Service was good and detailed. It was Game 2 of NBA Eastern Conference Finals: Turkoglu scored a two and put Orlando ahead with 1 second left in the 4th qtr. Then LeBron nailed a three-pointer in less than a blink. Cleveland won. I've been going to Sushi Boat since it first opened across from its current location. After moving back to Murrieta, Sushi Boat is still one of my favorite spots to eat. I've never had a bad experience here. I used to always get the bento boxes, but since I can easily make tonktasu and gyoza at home (I hate buying food I can make) I now usually get the House Roll or some other roll. I usually get things like Nigiri at places that specialize in that, so I found Sushi Boat a place to get a variety of Japanese food. The food wasn't good, the service wasn't good, this restaurant did not take allergies seriously, and does not seem to care about customer service. My husband notified the server about his carrot allergy when he ordered a bento box. Upon the box arriving there were carrots in two different places of the bento box. We had to ask for utensils and items that normally are on the table. The service was slow. I ordered two rolls, and received one when all the food was brought to the table. I ate it and figured they had forgotten about my second roll (no one let me know it was on it's way) which I was fine with since I was already full. At the very end of the meal they brought out the second roll which wasn't good. I told them I didn't want the roll and had only taken one bite. They said they could not take back the roll. I placed an order over the phone at 2:36 pm under my bf's name and was told it would take 25 minutes to which I agreed was fine. I arrived at around 3:06 and was told by a gentleman that he would check if my food was ready. He leaves and never comes back to tell me whether my food was ready or not and I just see him doing other tasks. I wait until 3:13 and still no one has said anything to me. I catch a female worker and asked her if I could go grab something from the mall and be right back she said ok. While I was gone I asked my bf to go get the food. They tell him there was no order for us even though they took my money already. Finally, I make it back and was able to get my food at 3:22 pm. It took almost an HOUR to have my food ready. They have a great 2 or 3 item bento box combination plate with many items to choose from, everything is fresh and delicious, this also comes with miso soup, salad, rice and edamame starter. I usually get the assorted tempura, salmon, and California rolls all for $12.50 which is a super value! The service is usually very attentive and always friendly. This has to be my favorite spot for sushi in town. Their sushi menu is VAST. I mean, it spans over 6 pages or so, but I also think most rolls are too similar. Anyways, back to the greatness that is Sushi Boat. I love that they give you free edamame in the beginning and a scoop of ice cream at the end. I don't care who you are or how much income you make, we all can appreciate those free perks. Their popcorn chicken is bomb and is a must order every time I go. It's always perfectly cooked and the sauce drizzles take it to another level. I also super appreciate the Japanese owner. If he's in the house, he's always roaming around and helping out. He checks in on customers and makes sure everything is running smoothly. Although, there are times when they get too busy or when he's not around and the customer service takes a slight dip. I've lived in the area for around 6 years now and I've yet to find a place as great as this one. What makes them so great is they're able to accommodate even the pickiest pallet. Everything is fairly price and the staff is very kind. I've gone here multiple times and once you become a regular the whole staff treats you like a VIP each time you show up. The owner is very kind and always makes sure to go around to all of the tables and make sure everyone is happy, if there is a problem he sees to it immediately. My personal favorite is their salmon crispy roll which is basically the most delicious deepfried roll ever. They're very flexible on customizing your order and don't charge extra to do it. The Miso soup is my favorite here, but sometimes it can be a hit or miss. Same with the hot tea. To anyone wanting to sate their craving for some quality Japanese cuisine I would highly recommend this place. And very delicious as well! Been here a couple times and it does not disappoint. Sushi is superb (try the War or Tokyo delight) and their bento box meals are great as well. They even have a great selection of meals for the youngsters. Pretty decent prices for lunch. Service is fast enough, but come on a busy night and you might be waiting a while. After paying full price and arguing with the "owner" of this shithole for a few minutes we decided to walk out and go on with our night. The "owner" then ran after my mother in law pretty much in the middle of the street harassing her, getting in her face & asking for her name & said she would "speak to the chef" after we told her countless times we are done arguing over the issue. After eating their sushi, I suspect that the only reason why this place is so crowded is due to their location.
