Super Donuts is a long-standing part of Carlsbad and family-owned business. The drive through is tight (watch your vehicles), but quick and easy. The shop owner is sweet and the donuts are traditional and perfect, especially for the $17 price tag for a dozen! (What a great price!) We gave him $20 and left the overage as a tip and he was appreciative. We had an extra treat of a few donut holes when we got home, so that was fun for the kids. Love this place! read more

Had eaten here before and I guess I had tried the wrong ones, because the M&M glazed donut was unexpectedly good. It wasn't as sugary sweet as you would expect from a glazed frosted donut with m&m's on it. It was so good I had to go back the next and get another one. Definitely adding this place as a new favorite. read more

Tried this place again hoping they'd upped their game but ick.... not good. The chocolate glazed donut was too thick and pasty, not light and fluffy. And the layer of chocolate was practically non existent. The crumb donut.... crumb donut? I don't think they get to call this donut a crumb donut. That means a donut covered with cinnamony thick toasty crumbs. This was a bland baked donut with a few sprinkles. I can't believe all the good reviews. Maybe I',m buying the wrong kind of donuts. Not impressed. Go to VGs in Cardiff. read more

During this pandemic, I'm grateful for any small business that's allowed to be open. We happened to see this little donut place while walking during an outing to Carlsbad. We bought a chocolate bar & a glazed. Both were fresh & delish. Service was fast & friendly. There were a couple bonus donut holes in the bag! Thank you!! read more

Small establishment in the heart of the Village. There are only a few stools inside to sit, otherwise, you get it to go! Only tried the glazed donut holes. $1.30 for a dozen. They were light and delicious. I prefer more glaze on my donut holes, however. There were plenty of choices, but was in a hurry at the time of this visit. I'll be sure to stop back in if ever in the area! read more

Your place for delicious, freshly made traditional donuts. For less than $8, we got an apple fritter, maple old fashioned, chocolate raised, and 6 donut holes, plus 1 water bottle. They threw in 2 donut holes also with our order. I like how their raised donuts are light and not dense. Definitely recommend coming by for delicious donuts and supporting this small business. read more

Best. Donuts. Ever. And run by the kindest family. Love them! A few years ago I took my nephew on a donut tour of LA. There were some amazing options. But nothing compares to Super Donuts. The best old fashioned around. Cake donuts are incredible. In all fairness I don't like fluffy donuts like Kristy Kreme but my husband does and he prefers Super Donuts maple bar to anything else. We recommend the maple old fashioned, maple bar, vanilla and chocolate cake donuts with sprinkles. Our 9 year old loves the candy and cereal laden ones but I like to keep it simple. Grab a $10 and run down there now! read more

The price has really gone up and I'm not sure it's worth it now. When we moved here in 2017 they used to charge $12 for a bakers dozen plus donut holes, used to give a good assortment of what I would consider cute speciality donuts. We stopped by about a year ago and the price had increased to $17 for 12 assorted (no donut holes), no "special" or unique donuts, just generic mid-quality ones. Today I was disappointed, grated we came by at 10 so I'll give them the benefit of the doubt that all the good donuts have already been taken, but to be charged $21 for a very basic dozen seems a little ridiculous considering Sams and K-Donut charges $15 for the same mid-quality donuts, or $16.50 from nearby Krispy Kreme. read more

Best jelly donut I've had since leaving NY/NJ. Took 1 star off because the prices of the different donuts or the price of a 1/2 dozen or a dozen are not displayed anywhere in the shop. I tried asked the owner about the price of a 1/2 dozen vs. 4 individual donuts and she just said same price. Anyway, the donuts were delicious. read more

First of all-YUMMM. I came to pick up a dozen donuts around noon, and they taste like they were literally just made. SO FRESH!! I couldn't find parking (it's a little busy on those streets) so I went through their drive-thru. Super convenient if you're bringing your puppers along like me I asked for a mixed dozen, then after she made it I changed my mind and asked her to put three sprinkles in there. She was SO nice about it, I didn't dreamlike she'd have to untape the whole box to open it! Not only that, I opened the box and noticed she gave me 15 DONUTS + DONUT HOLES!!! All for the price of a dozen ($11). Not all Hero's wear capes thank you for brightening up my day Super Donuts!!!! read more

Absolutely love this donut shop. The donuts are fresh and they have a really nice variety including the usual suspects. Great location on Roosevelt and Grand in downtown Carlsbad. This shop also has a drive thru!!! Seriously a drive thru....awesome!!! Cash only establishment with pricing on par with most other donut shops. They have a few diner style barstools in case you want to sit and enjoy a donut and a cup of coffee. The owner and staff are always so friendly and helpful. read more

Donut shop with a drive through? I'm in! Stopped here the other morning after hearing about it and also countless times driving by it when bar hopping. It was hard to see if they were open or not at 8 in the morning as there was no movement on the outside so I parked my car and walked in. This place is PERFECT for carlsbad. It's tiny. There's a BAR. Yup, when in doubt- hit the donut shop grab your milk and chill out before the actual bars DO open lol. I found it pretty amusing, as instead of alcoholic drinks and bar food- this place was where the locals came for coffee and donuts. One catch though. They're cash only. I learned that lesson the first time and the second time (which was this morning) came prepared. I used the drive through which was tony and got a chocolate donut and a small coffee. I'm surprised they didn't ask me what kind of chocolate donut I wanted as I would've preferred either two of the donut holes they gave me or one large rectangular one (not sure if they have them). Service took a minute. A little too long for me- I had to ring the bell for someone to walk by and it looked dead inside. The you get guy looked and was nice. The older man seemed a bit irritated I rang the bell. All in all- the donut was good and I did actually enjoy the coffee. I'll have to be back. Maybe inside next time! read more

This is my favorite donut shop in north county! they have a good variety of top-shelf donuts (my favorite are the cream-filled toasted coconut bars, which the owner usually adds the cream to fresh after you've ordered it) and they always taste like they just cooked up. the seating inside the shop is limited to some cramped barstools at a low counter, but if you can manage to squeeze in, you should- its got a super chill local vibe and the owner is a cool guy to keep company with. or if you're feeling adventurous, you can grab some donuts at the drive through and enjoy them on the beach overlooking the pacific ocean on a still sunday morning as my boo and I sometimes do. This is a cool shop with quality donuts that are very generously priced and the customer service is great- they added donut holes to my last order as a surprise! We happened upon this donut store as we were walking around the Village waiting for our table at a restaurant for breakfast. We fell in love the minute we saw the donuts in the case. There were at least eight different donuts decorated for Halloween with gummy worms, sprinkles, etc. to look like spiders and eyeballs. There are also many classics with a twist: jelly donuts with raspberry, lemon or apple; cinnamon sugar donuts with hazelnut filling, long johns filled with Bavarian cream or custard and covered with maple icing. All of them delicious! It's a very non-descript building with a drive-up window and a few counter seats. The owners were very friendly. I highly recommend stopping in here. read more

It's the closest donut shop to me (i live near LEGO land) anyway... this tiny shop on the corner is very clean, the guy behind the counter was very friendly, but best of all the donuts were delish! A downtown Carlsbad institution. I have a picture of me from about 1978, standing across the street from Super Donuts, and in the background you can see the "Grand Opening" banner hanging above the storefront. Any time I'm back home, grabbing an apple fritter from here is a MUST. What can I say? Tastes like home. Everyone I've ever taken here tells me they're the best donuts they've ever tasted. This is a legacy…read more My husband grew up riding his bike all the way from Del Mar as a kid, risking life, limb, and probably traffic laws, just for a hot glazed chocolate donut. That kind of dedication tells you everything you need to know about these donuts. Decades later, our cousins drive them 3 hours to Los Angeles like precious cargo for the family to enjoy when they come to visit. A donut. 3 hours in a car. Still incredible. Some things are just built different. Our cousins are hero's! Only one complaint, they are not open late, which is truly a crime against everyone with late night munchies and poor decision making skills. The world needs VG Donuts at midnight. Someone please make this happen. We will be back. My husband's inner 10 year old on a bike absolutely demands it.

The incredibly sweet woman behind the counter who helped us with a dessert order for a family dinner for twelve, the sheer beauty and variety of the baked goods in her store, or the 20 amazing cookies we ended up buying. The Carlsbad Bakery has been around for 40+ years specializing in Danish and French pastries, quiche, cupcakes, cakes, and too many eye-popping things to list. We walked over on a Friday and after talking to the proprietor decided that a variety of cookies would be the way to go. What wasn't easy was deciding what type of cookie, because their big chocolate chip, pistachio, almond, cherry, and peanut butter cookies all looked beyond amazing. We decided on a box of 20 mixed cookies ($52.90) and returned the next day to pick them up. My Sweet Lord, the box was as heavy as a bowling ball and was warm with freshly baked cookies. The intoxicating aroma penetrated the carton and filled our hotel room. When they were served at dinner, people's eyes popped out of their heads because they were so gorgeous. I managed to restrain myself and limited my dessert to one pistachio cookie that was fantastic. Of course, all of my cousins wanted to know where we found these amazing cookies. Thank you, Carlsbad Bakery, for such a fantastic customer experience. Your store is beautiful, and your product is extraordinary.

She never came back to take their food order, and we found ourselves waiting longer and longer without any communication. Eventually, another server took over our table. She was incredibly kind, friendly, and apologetic. We explained that we had already been waiting a long time and just wanted to place our food order to go so we could get our hungry kids back to the hotel. She handled the situation professionally and did her best to help, which we truly appreciated. If you're dining with young children, I'd keep in mind that service may not be the best fit if your family needs an attentive server or timely service. Waiting extended periods without updates can be especially difficult for tired, hungry kids. While I understand busy nights happen, the lack of attentiveness and communication made for a frustrating experience, and because of that, I don't think we'll be returning.
