This is an updated review. I have tried to be a faithful customer for a while now. I've had a number of incidents with Doughside Donuts. Sure, these are probably the best vegan donuts in North County. However, the owner and chef doesn't handle business effectively. He has trouble keeping track of orders and does not make good on his promise to deliver donuts on a certain day. Lots of broken promises and sad apologies (excuses) for order mishaps. It's unfortunate because the donuts bring joy to the bellies but stress to the head. Think this is a one time occurrence? Nope- I've ordered for birthdays, work events, etc. My friends have had a similar experience- where you show up to the kitchen on the day you're scheduled to pick up your donuts and NO ONE is in sight. So you try to call him and he doesn't answer. If you're lucky enough, he'll answer and say he forgot and give you a multitude of excuses and a sob story about how difficult it is to run things all by himself. If you happen to be upset and ask for a refund, he may not answer. Better file a complaint with your credit card company otherwise you'll be plagued with a multitude of blow-up texts. Post on social media- he deletes all the negative posts. Order from him directly at your own risk. I would not do business with him personally, especially for special events. Stick to the occasional treat at Milk Organics or other shop that sells his donuts. You'll be much happier this way. read more

Wish that this company would get a storefront (we supported during their Kickstarter but it didn't get funded fully, bummer!), but I guess half the fun is half to track down the donuts around town Ordered a half dozen to enjoy with the hubby after a Sunday run. We got the Raspberry Lemonade, Lemon Poppyseed, Sprinkle, Cinnamon and Sugar, Horchata and Chocolate. (Listed one order of our favorites as well.) They definitely aren't cheap ($25 for six), but they are gourmet and vegan so you better believe we are willing to pay for the quality! Be aware that the base of the donut is the same for all of them, but they are hand dipped (to order) and delicious. We will obviously be back! And back again! read more

Went in on a Saturday morning prior to 9am it was busy but the line moved quickly. Our wait and bad experience was for drinks, my niece and I went for donuts a Chai Latte and a hot chocolate, the gal at the coffee counter seemed to be very overwhelmed and disorganized. Running out of items, having to run to the back for one thing while the line piled up. I'm not the type of customer to be impatient and I just wait my turn, having only ordered two drinks and seeing larger orders of 4+ drinks coming out for people who were behind me in line I followed up on my order. Not only was the lady annoyed and flustered in her response she said I'm working on them now, which she did have two empty cups in front of her. I spared her my logic in asking about my drinks and waited. She poured the drinks and provided no lids or even said a word, just pushed them towards me. My niece who's a hot chocolate expert said it tasted like water. This experience had me asking myself why I even go there, I go for their small vegan selection of donuts. Which no I'm noticing it's almost always the same two types and they don't get creative on their vegan items. After that rude experience I'm doubtful on returning and will likely explore the other options in the area. Visit was on 7/23. I haven't been back. read more

If you ask what something is when it comes to the ingredients here, this place insults you and puts you down, telling you to "educate yourself", instead of just answering a simple question about what ingredients they are using. People have certain diet restrictions and allergies so if you are working in the food industry you should not be so obtuse about answering questions about what you are using in your food. I would never put my money (ever again) behind such a rude and condescending business. They lost a loyal customer with their offensive behavior. Go literally anywhere else but here. While this doughnut vendor may not normally possess a store front, its merchandise largely distributed to various coffee shops, Covid-19 has opened the doors for online orders and pickup from the kitchen they rent out to bake their delicious wares. Their vegan doughnuts are the real deal! Pricey, yes, but oh-so plump, gigantic, and with a true-to-flavor taste. I've ordered a 1/2 dozen omakase for $25 which is their baker's choice box. Follow them on social media and watch their stories to learn their latest offerings and flavors. I ordered just a week after 4/20, so they did still have some CBD infused donuts baking, so I did receive one in my box! Two others were specialty while the remaining three were classic flavors. I keep dreaming about these fluffy coils of heavenly delights! I absolutely did not question my decision to drive 38 minutes one-way to their kitchen in Oceanside. I ordered my first dozen variety vegan doughnuts from Doughside today! My co-workers have been ranting about his doughnuts for Months and even had me try one a few times when THEY picked some up. I've been waiting for my turn to get some myself! I found the Doughside Doughnuts Instagram page and fell in love with all the different photos of doughnut flavors they have! I messaged them via IG and asked about the different flavors and they said they are able to do any specialized flavor with at least 3 days notice. I made a request for a variety pack for their next delivery, yesterday. I went to pick it up this morning at one of their delivery stops, Milk Organics. The owner of Doughside Doughnuts was present to prepare the boxing of my order. He even helped me bring my doughnuts to my car. He separated the different flavors into their own boxes and labeled them. I received 2 of each and I feel like the coffee one is my favorite so far, although I love all the flavors!! My office peers and I will be ordering several dozen from Doughside on Fridays from now on... I think we will need gym memberships soon... I'm just saying... :-D read more

I didn't want to fall in love with a doughnut but it happened! I finally got my hands on some on a trip to Vista @ Milk! I had an delectable chocolate one that I totally enjoyed! I actually don't eat doughnuts, I swear, but I had to try these vegan delights after being tempted one too many times on instagram! I also bought a strawberry one that was so fantastic! I hope they raise enough dough to get a storefront! But then again that would be dangerous! Find some of these and enjoy, I know you will! No greasy gross ingredients, pure yum! For vegan, gourmet donuts they're great! For someone who's not vegan (myself), I'd recommend doing The Goods in Carlsbad for a gourmet donut. These are rather pricey ($45/dozen), but about the same as The Goods but were very soft/chewy for my taste. The flavors were interesting, but still not the best for someone who doesn't need to eat vegan. Plus they do not have a storefront, which no matter, I'm all about supporting local businesses. They're worth a try, they're certainly pretty. read more

Worth the money, travel and time to get them. They take their donuts to a couple different locations. I've picked up from a coffee house in Carlsbad I forgot the name of. But their donuts are amazing!!! Perfect texture, flavor, everything. I swear you have to give them a try, after you have one your favorite donut shop will seem mediocre. YUMMMMM!!! Omg. I wish they had a storefront!!! For now, I visit Milk O's on Tuesday's or Thursdays for a donut. My favorite is the OG, coming in second is the spicy maple. Doughside Donuts are VEGAN, non-greasy, and they have a delicious flavor and well made texture. Just really good stuff.
