Slim Chickens is very, very mid…read more The highlight of every meal is the sauces. Good fry sauce equivalent, great ranch, plenty of other options. Aside from that, I'm always left disappointed. They used to have more wrap options on the menu, which I always enjoyed with their grilled chicken, but everything else is no bueno for me. The fried chicken is tough and very stringy? I'm no expert but I think it's likely cause of how it's being frozen. I may be wrong, but whatever is the cause, the chicken is honestly always a let down. If it weren't a chicken joint, I wouldn't be so bothered by this fact, but alas. If you lather everything in their sauces, it's alright. On its own, very mid. Seems like slim chickens was pretty solid a few years ago when it opened, but nothing spectacular nowadays. There are other chicken joints around at a similar price point and I would have to recommend just about any of them over slim chickens.

I loved the white tile walls with various sayings here and there. The place was so clean and refreshing. The brioche buns were and we tried a number of sauces which were all full of flavor and match up to their descriptions. One thing I love is good, crunchy ice and theirs was on point. The fries were even quite good. The milkshake was ok, probably needed more chocolate and didn't taste (or was a somewhat runny) like it was hand spun, but they do have milkshake straws. Now, we didn't love the chicken. I had a sandwich and my wife the tenders. The first tender was pretty good and juicy, but the rest were tough. My sandwich chicken was tough as well. I ordered the Cajun chicken and was looking forward to that kick the chicken was tough, it wasn't Cajun (no spice), and the crunchy covering was not there for much of it. I love me a good chicken sandwich and try them everywhere. This one was a miss.

I like it all and actively look for fried chicken wherever I am It's with this fried chicken obsession in mind that I made a bee line to Houston Tx Hot Chicken which I found on Yelp. First let me say the design and aesthetic of this restaurant wins hands down; beautiful ins store imagery and signage. However, it all about the food! I ordered : 1) A classic chicken sandwich, mild sauce, combo (comes with fried and drink) And because I didn't want to miss out on their other sandwich...not like I'm here everyday ! 2) An original sandwich ( only) with mild sauce. 3) Mac and cheese for good measure This was a "linner" for me and frankly was hungry but also wanted to try as much of their offerings as possible. Whether it's the classic or the original, I didn't like either sandwich...the chicken of either sandwich wasn't crispy or moist, which I found strange considering both had a sauce. The adding of the sauce didn't help at all. I chose the mild and medium and were in spice/hot range that I was comfortable with. The fries were crispy and my favorite part of the meal. The Mac and cheese were sort of gummy and lacking in flavor (cheese flavor and salt). The service was friendly, helpful and fast but it's all about the food and I may never come back.
