Purchased a home with their system installed, so we were forced into accepting them, but if we had to do it all over again I would not purchase the home for that sole reason. Went through the process of migrating the service to us, 6 weeks later the system is still not producing any power and our account says it's shut off for non payment but we have a $0 balance. Multiple emails, chats, and phone calls and they say someone has to come out to reactivate system, yet it was never scheduled. Next big problem is that it's installation caused a $3000 roof leak and it says it can be up to 3 months to get them out to remove panels for roofer. read more

It all started 10 years ago, they were called Vivint back then, we have had multiple leaks in all areas of the house, multiple ceilings falling down. It is absolutely disgusting that we still have water leaks after all these years with multiple roof repairs and partial re-roofs. I just don't understand why they cannot address it properly or have someone that will actually take care of the issues. Now they are saying its not them, so ridiculous. We are at our wits end, we need to get it repaired properly, not just a Band-Aid. There is so much damage in the house. Enough is enough. Had an appointment through Lowe's. Sunrun confirmed appointment on Friday for a Monday meeting @ 11:30 with Angel Castro. At 12:00 still no contact from Angel so I went to an appointment. He called at 12:15 but I couldn't answer. I got home before 1:00 & he was waiting! I explained that he wasted my time & I was no longer interested. No apology. He said ok & walked away. Went to the home show in Hanover this weekend and scheduled an appt. for Monday at 3 pm. for sales rep to come out and go over the panels. No show. Called the number given to call if there were any issues and they told us the sales rep Danielle S was the rep that was supposed to come to the house. When I stated that he was a no show nor did I have any contact info they said, "oh sorry but that's not my department and I can't contact him for you." I contacted Sunrun regarding adding a battery system to my existing solar setup. I was connected to Timothy Sillito, who requested I send him my bills. I immediately emailed him after the call with the information, but it has been five days, and I haven't received any response or follow-up. This level of service is completely unacceptable, especially when considering the investment that solar and battery systems require. If this is how they treat potential customers, I can't imagine how difficult it would be to get support once you're locked into a contract. My experience has been one out of nightmares!!! My solar panels were originally purchased in 2017 from vivant solar who I loved and never had an issue with but unfortunately they sold our loan to sunrun who has been deplorable and nothing short of a fraudulent company. In June and July our electricity bill was higher than it should of been but we didnt think anything of it since it was summer and we thought we needed extra cooling. We even called Sunrun in June to ask if everything was ok because our app was saying no kwh was being recorded. We were told it was our app so we deleted and reinstalled but still nothing and thought it was a glitch. We call back in August and they then tell us that our solar panels haven't been working for 4 months. We were never notified. They told us that they don't monitor the service. I was told the contract was the same as the one I signed with vivant so then referred to the part that says that they monitor the system. They said they meant monitor by like service if we reach out. May I add this is not the definition of monitor in any way shape or form and you cannot bend the words definition to fit your need. We then scheduled a service after having to pay them an astronomical fee to get a technician out. The day of the service comes and no technician ever came out, no call, email or text to update us, just a complete no show. We then had to wait for the next available date for someone to come out. That one finally came out said everything was fixed. We waited 2 days we still weren't getting energy so we call back. They then say we have to wait a month to have the next available appointment for someone to come out. We wait the month, we are told someone has to go to our roof to replace some nodes that have gone bad and should take about 4 hours the technician never went to the roof and was only here for half an hour. We have now paid both our loan to sunrun and our electricity bill for 7 months. Every time we call every representative is either unprofessional, not willing to help and we get transferred 50 million times and then conveniently disconnected. When we ask to speak to supervisors they say they are the supervisor and there is no boss or person above them that can assist. I have never felt so taken advantage of by a company in my entire life and if I could I would have them sell my loan to another company. If anyone is considering sunrun, please do run. read more

I already did one review about the lousy service, so now I am going to add to it. Not only has my system been not performing above 50% since May 1st, with Sunrun failing to check the system properly after a service call, then making me wait until October for another appointment, and now they rescheduled my appointment until mid November. I did not even get a call or email about the change. After scheduling a day off from work to be home for the appointment, i opened the Sunrun app to see it changed. All while I get hounded if my bill isn't on time, which is paid EVERY MONTH just a couple of days past to aline with payday. I get 6 calls and emails about the bill, but nothing about appointment change? No help. No bill credits have been issued. Nothing. Having to pay since May for a system that isn't working and also paying SCE now as well. This company has no urgency to fix customer issues. My home has been hacked up due to the miscommunication of this company. This company hired a outside vendor to move our air conditioning and messed up our air condition unit which we had to pay out of our pockets. When he tried to reduce his hours since he is a college athlete and soccer was started, they fired him and said they do not have part time employees and now refusing to pay him his commission. I called this company because they are at Costco. I have always trusted Costco with everything, but after this I would never use Costco for their Solar recommendations or HVAC. Both are terrible and misleading. Sunrun came out to me for the consultation, but was ONLY interested in selling their "Service", which everyone else would call a lease. Even after I advised I am not interested in a lease, he did not stop. I asked for their estimate to purchase the equipment, and their cost was 70%+ higher than 3 other companies I have proposals from. I assume they over price the purchase only to sell their Service. Also, they are quoting inferior equipment and warranties to anyone else I spoke with. Sunrun is a big NOPE for me. On another note, they come door to door in my neighborhood and ask to see our meter and asked if it has been upgraded to digital. They don't even introduce themselves as Sunrun employees. The problems below are all caused by Freedom's lack of attention to detail. This has become a complete nightmare and a complete waste of time & MONEY. I completely regret working with them. ​ They have submitted wrong paperwork over and over, don't bother calling or emailing, they won't help you.... If you are already locked in with NEM or a roofing project - They will string you along for MONTHS. AND THERE IS NOTHING YOU CAN DO ABOUT IT. ​ HOUSE #1 DECEMBER - Freedom lost & submitted the permits incorrectly multiple times. Currently in a loop on "demo permits & inspection" - Permits originally lost in DECEMBER OF 2023. STILL NOTHING. The housing authority says they have submitted incorrect paperwork, missing information etc. ​ HOUSE #2 There is TRASH & old roofing materials sitting on my roof for over 2 months. The renters are now asking to be reimbursed for the # of times they have been inconvenienced by "hosting" inspectors, contractors, roofers, electricians, noise of all of the traffic on the roof, street parking, neighbors are complaining about the constant flow of people in the small & private neighborhood. The HOA is already contacting the renters & sending fines for the construction eyesores. BIG MISTAKE.... The two below properties have NEM paperwork/submissions mismatched. FREEDOM MESSED UP THE ORIGINAL NEM 2.0 SUBMISSION(S)- We notified Freedom multiple times. Freedom mixed up the two properties and NEVER fixed them. They submitted two applications for the SAME property. Now SCE will not honor the mix-up as we have "no record of a NEM application" for property #3. ​ HOUSE #3 Roofing contractors broke our HVAC. Nightmare to get it reimbursed. March 17th, Freedom team submitted Southern California Edison paperwork with the wrong address. SCE confirm it was canceled by Freedom. WE TOLD FREEDOM MONTHS AGO THAT THE PAPERWORK WAS COMPLETED INCORRECTLY. -No one checked if this was ever fixed. HOUSE #4 2/24 - Installed MONTHS AGO- Still not turned on-- WHY!?!? Because the city inspector has been out 3 times now. Failed inspection again, again and again. SCE is stating they messed up the NEM paperwork on this one too! read more

Had a new roof installed in May of 2025. Paid over $5K to Sunrun's contractor to remove and reinstall panels. Panels reinstalled in June. Noticed last month one set of my panels (I have 2 accounts) was not communicating (which I noticed, you would think Sunrun would be monitoring this). Technician came out 8/29/25 and found that the contractor Sunrun hires to reinstall panels did a hack job with the reinstall. There are cracked pipes, wires exposed, duct tape around pipes and one pipe is not even attached to the house. At this time I also found that the 2nd set of panels are also not producing. Was told by the technician that water most likely got into the cracked pipe and blew the inverter. Said job would take all day to fix. Told me to call after Labor Day holiday. Called today and the individual I spoke with was clueless. Does not understand that the system was already inspected and workers need to be sent to fix the entire system and get it back up and running. Received an email that they are doing a diagnostic check which I reiterated was not needed that the system is broken due to all the shotty reinstall work. It's not fixable until they come and replace the piping, etc. Guy tells me that the next appointment available is 9/19/25. I told him to make sure they aren't coming out to check the system since that was already done and they need a crew to come out and fix all the broken equipment that has caused the systems to fail. He quickly told me they would fix it and rushed me off the phone. I have no confidence that he even understood one word I said. Now I am nervous with the exposed wires on the roof let alone almost 2 months with no solar production. Sunrun knowing there are exposed wires that could potentially cause a fire and waiting another 2 1/2 weeks to come out is very unresponsible and they better hope there is no fire. Hello we are Erron and Lora De La Torre. We are reaching out to you today because we have been a victim of Costco and their affiliate program with Sunrun Solar. Three years ago we decided to get solar panels and batteries through Costco via Sunrun. We thought going through Costcos for this solar project, we would receive the same customer service and quality as in the warehouse stores. In the past we also bought our automobiles through the Costco car buying program and even though you are dealing with a private dealership. The dealership shows you the Costco special pricing list and gives the highest quality customer service. But Sunrun is the opposite... at the Costco warehouse you set up an appointment. Salesperson comes out to explain what is the best option for your home. I trust Costco so I went with Sunrun recommended, now two years later Sunrun comes out to install the solar project. You might be wondering what happened in those two years. Well there were a lot of phone calls to Sunrun and Costco. I went through 4 project managers. Resigned my loan documents three times, because the loan documents expire if the solar project is not installed within a certain time frame. At Costco it's very hard to speak to anyone in the home installation department. After the project was installed, the installers explained to us our system has permission to operate (connect to the grid) from Edison and have us sign documents on the installers iphone. This gives the ok to start financing, but we did not have permission to operate. Our home was not ready for permission to operate until 9 months later. During those 9 months we were making payments on the solar loan, but had no permission to operate from Edison. Sunrun did pay us back that part of the loan, a very small amount. Now we have a $2500 plus and of the year electric bill, when Sunrun told us you will be just paying the loan back that there will be no bill from Edison, you will be getting money back from them. I call Sunrun and Sunrun really doesn't want to be accountable for the high electric bill. Our home is only 1200 square feet and it's only us two that live at our address. No electric cars. So finally I got a hold of Costco in the home installation department. And Costco said everything looks good to them. Now because Sunrun does not want to be accountable for the salesperson,s mistake designing our solar system and misleading us. If you look at the attachments you can see month to month of our electric bill. The first month was over $800. To me it looks like the 2 Tesla batteries are costing us more money to charge them than what our house is using. With the cost of solar system loan and the year end electric bill. Now we are paying about 2.5 times for electricity. We are willing to help any news network to help other consumers to not go through Costco in home installation or Sunrun especially when Costco can't do anything if you're ripped off by their home installation partners. Technically you are buying the solar equipment from Costco, but you are not. Costco does not have anything to do with in-home installation partners. It seems that in-home installation partners are paying Costco to sell their equipment and services. If this is the case, Costco should be transparent with this information. Any more information any news media needs, we are willing to give. We thank you for your time in reading this, we just really do not want any other home owners to be taken advantage of by Costco and Sunrun and their predatory practices. Costco will return a vacuum 3 years after purchase, but they will ignore their members when it comes to standing between them and a paycheck from an affiliate. We had Sunrun lease for 2 years, after taking months to get it going things went well until we wanted to sell our house. Our agent said she could have sold our house on the first 2 weeks if we didn't have the solar. Don't believe their hogwash about making your home more valuable, it doesn't, it makes it much harder to sell. I took over a $5000 loss just so I could stop the bleeding. Their transfer of services policy is a joke, if you ask nice they might get it out to the person who needs it but then be ready to do everything yourself, there is no follow up from them, no letting you know any progress or problems nothing. One time when I called in the girl said I hope you're closing is not in a couple of days. It took me and my realtor checking weekly to make sure things were going OK. Then 3 days before closing I called and was told that they didn't have a document they needed from the buyers, after almost 2 months of dealing with them. Then on 8/15/24, 8 days after the switch they called my wife and said our last bill for July 5 to Aug 5 was due and I had received that notice by email and she asked and was told it's our last bill and we have a credit coming of $112. She paid the bill. Fast forward to today, I get an email from them saying I owe $155. I call and am told I owe for August and September and a $7.50 charge for not being on auto pay anymore. Now we were on auto pay from the get-go so we missed no payment, we paid a bill that said July 5 to Aug 5 and after screaming in the phone that September was not my bill they insisted I pay $72 for the lease, $7.50 for no auto pay and $2.00 for one day of service from 8/5/24 to 8/6/24. On top of that they said nothing about any credit they told my wife we had coming. These people are rip off artists, they will say anything to get you to buy and absolutely nothing to help you unless they think they can part you from more of your money. If you have not signed anything yet DON'T!!! Throw them out of your house like a mugger because that's what they are. Although Sunrun will tell you otherwise, there is a lien known as a mechanics lien placed on your property. Do some research, find out what others say about having this lien removed in order to sell your property. I cannot recommend this company due to lack of transparency. Edit: With all due respect, a lien is a lien is a lien. Your door-to-door sales persons prefer to ignore the UCC 1 filing and deceptively state Sunrun does not lean your property. Speaking for my self only these are lawyer worm words. The contract plainly states there will be a UCC 1 filing known as a mechanics lien. Sunrun is the worst solar company on the face of the earth. The panels were not installed correctly on my roof, so they caused my roof to leak and water damage to the inside of my house. My insurance company found Sunrun at fault for the damage to my roof, and the inside of my house. Sunrun is refusing to pay to have my roof replaced, and they want me to pay them to have the panels taken off my house so I can get my roof replaced. I wish I could leave a negative star review, because they don't even deserve a one star. All they do is gaslight you into thinking they are going to resolve the situation, only to find out after seven months of going back and forth with them, that they had no intensions on ever taking responsibility for their faulty product. read more
