When I first came into contact with this company I thought they were the worst, but there were a few things and few people who changed my mind. I lived in my new home for three months without solar and reached out to CS and did not get the results I felt was best for a customer who have spent thousands of dollars on a system, but all and I must say all was rectified and I must say the company is all that and more and the stand firm on their principle. DO NOT USE THEM! They do shady things to get the contracts filled and take your money and leave without taking responsibility. They kept installing while NOT HAVING THE PROPER PERMITS, and then proceeded to wire the electrical wrong that caused a fired and on top of that DAMAGED THE ROOF. The city already sited the damages done by them, it's all on record. However the lawyer fees to chase after them are too much for my mother to cover. So I'm just here to warn everyone, NEVER EVER USE THEM. My mother told them to stop multiple times because they didn't get the approved permits and they ignored her claiming its in the contract. My billing has been a constant mess; despite being on autopay, I've had to contact customer service numerous times just to get my account balanced correctly. It is an administrative nightmare. More importantly, I was completely misled by my sales representative, Tarek Nabil. During the signing of my 25-year lease, I specifically asked if the contract could be canceled at any time. He assured me the answer was "Yes" and convinced me that the rate increases would be negligible compared to local power companies. Now that my home is on the market, I have discovered this was a lie. Sunrun informed me that I cannot cancel; I am forced to either buy out the panels or attempt to transfer the lease to the new owners. I never wanted sunrun. When I first got solar I was with Vivint Solar then Vivint got bought out by Sunrun so I didn't really have a say. My house got flooded so I had laps in payments while I took care of the main property damage. After I paid them off, They kept giving me the runaround telling me that it would be turned on immediately, then they would try to remote start it and if that didn't work they'd call me up to make an appointment, etc. I was just now able to make an appointment after a month with no power after I payed them off. That appointment isn't until the end of this month so around a month in a half to two months total. I'm on the verge of hiring a private company to remove the solar panels (I don't trust sunrun moving the solar panels because they are incompetent and might mess up my roof). and just going back to Edison. Emily was kind until we had to reschedule appointments due to medical related emergencies, including my son breaking his arm. Once the reschedulings took place, I was sent a terse communication telling me I would be paying for damages and panel removal. During the entire time without functioning panels, I was told panels were on BACK ORDER while their sales people continued showing up in our neighborhood and even at our door selling systems. They continued installing systems in our area. When I pointed that out, they finally showed up unannounced with new panels on 3/11/2025. THREE YEARS LATER. I let them install them even though we were not prepared. As pointed out for the past three years, the shingles around and under the units need replacing. SunRun is now telling me I will have to pay for removal so my roofing contractor can fix everything despite THREE YEARS of underperformance and damage from their hack installers. They have not paid for nor fixed the damage from their incompetent installation. All of these things are in breach of their contract which warrantees equipment, guarantees output, etc. If these people show up at your door, DO NOT BELIEVE THEM. Send them packing. read more

My experience with Sunrun and Remi Roofing has been unacceptable and costly. After Remi Roofing removed and reinstalled my solar panels during a roof replacement, my solar system ceased producing power. This failure was not minor, intermittent, or difficult to detect -- the system simply did not work. Despite this, both companies failed to conduct a proper investigation or take corrective action. Remi Roofing reinstalled the panels without ensuring the system was restored to working condition. Sunrun, as the solar provider, failed in its basic responsibility to inspect, test, and verify system performance after reinstallation. At no point did either company demonstrate urgency, ownership, or technical competence in addressing the loss of solar production. The most troubling aspect is the complete lack of accountability. Each company deflected responsibility rather than resolving a clear system failure that did not exist prior to the roof work. As a result, I was left paying for a solar system that was not producing energy, while both companies avoided corrective action. This is not a customer service issue -- it is a failure of professional duty. Homeowners should not have to fight to get contractors to verify that their work did not damage or disable expensive equipment. I strongly advise potential customers to avoid both companies unless they are willing to document every step, demand independent verification of system performance, and prepare for resistance when problems arise. Extremely mad and disappointed with Sunrun. With the last rain storms we had I got a leak on my roof. I called Sunrun and they sent people down to do an investigation and they took pictures and they told me they could not determine if it would be covered under warranty because there was no attic space where it was leaking so they said they were going to have to send other people to actually cut a small hole in my ceiling so they could take another look. I waited for about two weeks then got a call saying they are going to have to deny the warranty claim even though they didn't finish the investigation as I was told. New issue is I have not been able to see my production on my app. I got busy and forgot to call them to see why. I called today and they said because I changed my internet provider they can't talk to my system and to re-set it they would have to send a technician to connect to the internet. They never told me they lost connection to see what was going on or that they were using my internet. There is a small antenna on one of the boxes and thought they were using cell service. They now tell me I have to pay for a technician to come to my house. I asked if they could send me the instructions I could do it as I'm a technician myself so I'm pretty handy. They said no. I asked why not you just said I own the system and won't cover that under warranty. You also won't cover my roof even though was promised a 15 year warranty for my roof and now I have to pay for the technician? This shouldn't be this hard. Avoid these companies at all cost - Sunrun, Suncore, and Remi. Entire process was horrible from start to end. Had to go through Sunrun and Remi to get our solar panels reinstalled after we got our roof redone and since we have a lease agreement with Sunrun and entire process was just horrible from start to end. Sunrun contracts their solar reinstallation jobs to a partner company called Remi, who then contracts it out to low quality contractors who do a horrible job of reinstalling your solar panels. The contractors called Sun Core - moved one of the panels from its original location to another spot without telling us. During the reinstallation of the solar panels, they also failed to secure the solar panels promptly and some panels could just be lifted up easily. They also installed a J-box haphazardly and the cables underneath the panels were not secured. A lot of them were touching the roof. All of these issues caused resulted in failing the city roof inspection. They had to come back 2 more times after the initial reinstallation until it was all resolved. Honestly after this whole experience I never wish to do business with any of these companies ever again. Customer service is crap too. April 26, 2025 Sunrun has implemented this program called Virtual Power Plant (CalReady). They, sunrun, automatically signed you up for the program. They gave a link to 'opt out' but that like did not 'opt you out' 2025. I had to call to 'opt out'. This program allows sunrun to use your battery to power the grid between 4Pm and 9 PM. The program which is to start May 1st . Today, April 26 2025, I noticed my battery was powering the grid. This was NOT authorized. And even before the CalReady plan was to take effect. If someone take something from someone without[permission it is stealing and stealing is a crime. But looking back at sunrun history they will take actions wrongful or correct action which ever works in their bust interest. and if caught just get sued. Clearly their business practice. read more

On 10/7/2025, I had SunRun install 21 solar panels on my house with 2 Tesla 3 batteries. My roof was recently repaired and all broken tiles replaced before SunRun workers installed the solar panels. I spoke to the foreman and told him all the aforementioned. He said that they were professionals and were going to male sure they did an excellent job. The installation went well and they finished the job the same day. On 10/13/2025, I had my roofer (linsenced contractor) inspect the roof and discovered broken tiles, trash , and debris. The initial response was there are parts that are needed and they are on backorder. After multiple attempts via email and phone calls to get an update or even a response regarding an ETA on when my system is expected to by functioning again has fallen on deaf ears. We are approaching 6 months with no production and no communication, this is unacceptable. We only pull from the grid, Sunrun says it's teslas problem, Tesla says it's Sunruns problem. Meanwhile, out case manager Seneca just blows us off and says it's not her problem. They have sent me 4 escalation team experts who either get fired or quit. I'm in Florida and Sunrun is no longer in Florida for new installs. We are locked in a 25 year lease. We were promised large savings on our electrical bills, even getting money back from APS every year. This is not the case at all. Besides paying Sunrun 128.93 a month our APS bill run over 200.00+ a month in the summer, 80.00 a month in the winter, when we don't use the air conditioner or heater. We reached out to Sunrun and their fix is to add more panels for another 80.00 a month. We also ended up with some storm damage on our roof. Sunrun was 100% unresponsive in removing the panel so we could get our new roof installed. The roofer reached out to a certified Sunrun installer to do the job, Sunrun wanted to charge us 325.00 to inspect the panels and reinstat the warranty. We also found out that only half the panels had been working for over six months. When I called Sunrun they did come out and fix it but we were never reimbursed and Sunrun said it was our job to monitor the panels, even though it's in the contract and we were told at the time of the sale that they monitor the panels. I thought solar power was our way to improve the environment, but I wish Sunrun had never stopped at my door. read more

For those who are looking to get solars installed, PLEASE DO NOT HIRE SUN RUN! The entire company is a mess! They did not install the underlayment and the tiles back on properly which lead to a leak. The leak caused a lot of water damages to our home in various areas to the point where the bathroom ceiling collapsed! I had to pay out of pocket for an emergency tarp (which btw is not cheap!) because we could not get in contact with Sun Run! It's been almost 3 months and we still have not had any repairs done even when an inspector finally came out and had admit fault! We can barely get anyone to pick up our phone calls or even call us back when we leave them voicemails. We write emails to them daily and still barely any help except that "they are working on it and they are escalating the matter..." Our case has been shuffled back and forth between different Sun Run employees/case managers and they either don't know what is going on or say the "case manager is out of the office and will return our phone calls," but obviously they do not call back! We have documentation on everything and have photos as proof. We even hire a lawyer write up a demand letter to fix the repairs and it was sent to their legal counsel, and yet NOTHING! Their new technique for complaints about billing is to send you a notice that your your system is working fine and everything's good and that's all they say. I made the mistake of allowing SunRun to sell me on the dream of going solar. On the Dream of having one bill and that was to purchase the power from Sunrun. That was the worst mistake I have made in a longtime. I honestly believed that they would design a system that was going to help me save money. They sell you Dream alright and then you really it's a horrible Dream more of a nightmare. Dealing with the horrible customer service they have and the lack of knowledge there so called experts have. So from beginning to now nearing the completion of my first year with the system they designed as experts. For 11 months I complained and said something is wrong with this system. Me not being an expert realized right away something is wrong. For 11 months SunRun treated me poorly while I still paying them month after month after month. The worst 11 months of doing business with a company I thought would care about the customers that will help spread the word of the good book of business they run. Well that was not the Case 11 months of saying my system is not performing . 11 months it took for them to realize they installed my system wrong and I had three pinched wires this whole entire time. From what the te h told me in his work my inverter was not working properly because of the carelessness of the techs who installed my system. They supposedly check and maintain an eye on the system when they first start it up and how this was missed for 11 months is insane. They made me believe I was wrong dealt with three case managers because the customer service was so bad. They would say we will get back to you with more follow ups. When I would follow up the case manager Dustin would make me feel like I was an inconvenience to him. Dealing with SunRun and its team has been just a nightmare and if I can protect someone from making the same mistake I made. I will be able to live with myself and my horror story of the day I allowed SunRun into my home to sell me the Solar Dream. Nobody is perfect and yes we make mistakes but owning up to them is not the SunRun way. They will pretty much tell you hey it is what it is. First of all, let me say I have 9 units with Sunrun. You'd think they'd treat loyal customers better, but outside of Jackie, my sales rep, the company support is a disjointed, inept, and not very well trained. Everytime I have an experience with their support team, I question why I've done so much business with them. Their systems break often (I've had 3 inverters replaced already), and getting people to go out to check it out is a nightmare. The average downtime whenever something breaks is 2 months, which is extremely frustrating given we own most of our units, so it's just money coming out of our pocket. Sunrun is by far the worst most clueless company I've ever had the displeasure of dealing with. First, the solar took months to install and the entire process was excrement. I never actually received updates from Sunrun until I would call to complain. Service ppl would randomly show up to do "scheduled" work I was never told about and the Sunrun ppl weren't even aware of it half the time. The process started in Feb final service on in August. At first I felt bad for the sales man as it seemed the whole backend team was stupid af. The system has been on and I have severely been underproducing even with the larger system and not turning on a/c or charging my car to avoid being worse. Then the arrogance of these numbnuts. I noticed that the moment they did their "final" not really final inspection the battery was not charging. For a week these idiots sat there telling me my tesla app was wrong and there system shows everything is fine and healthy. After the week long battle the morons finally agree to send a tech only to discover that not only was the battery dead but the breaker was tripped the whole time. Either their system is crap or once again they are all idiotic scumbags. SUNRUN IS ABSOLUTE SCUM I am so sick of this awful company sending reps to my home. I have tried being polite and asking them to take my home off their potential customer lists, I have put up no trespassing and multiple no soliciting signs, and a "DO NOT KNOCK BABY SLEEPING sign, and yet nearly ever week one of their employees knocks on my door, multiple times waking up my 2-year-old daughter. The people they send are combative, will not take "no thank you/ please leave" for an answer and on several occasions have entered my side yard and garage WITHOUT PERMISSION. The latest offending rep, Jack (doubt that's his actual name), told me when I asked him (twice) to leave and not return "oh don't worry we'll be back." It's a borderline threat... you can't keep us away. I have security camera footage of these people reading the posted no soliciting sign and STILL proceeding to ring/knock and bother us.
