I just got my solar installed with powerwall and it has been a mix bag of positive and negative but hope the team can really improve for their customers with this review. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Overall the team all seem to be doing their job and the execution is quick but the lack of customer communication is not up to par for a 50k project.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]It felt like I was the project manager all the time, following up on schedule, and then calling to verify.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I had a feeling that the teams are split and everyone only does their job based on a scope and not as a team. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Sometimes, I just want the truth on timing.... Bc Everytime I get a timing commitment, it's delayed and or no show and then also no updates.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The project is still on-going with skirting, commissioning wasn't even done , painting of pipes/conduits... so will update accordingly. 8/6/26 : the team swiftly came the next day and finished painting and commissioning so I will add a star. 8/12/26: Just had a constructive discussion with Dayne and Savannah -- overall very positive. While my earlier frustrations were real, the conversation helped me better understand the complexities of the contractor side of the business. I also came away feeling that OC Solar genuinely puts care and attention into each project. The project isn't fully complete yet (inspections, skirting, and a few other items remain), but the overall execution moved at lightning speed and exceeded my own expectations. Update for my review with OC - [[HIGHLIGHT]]Savannah from customer service reached out regarding my experience and expressed regret over how things went and changes were actively happening at the company.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]She offered a free panel cleaning, which she set up internally and had their team come out this past Friday without issue.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Since the cleaning the panels have been much better performing especially after these past few weeks of misting and rain, about 25% higher output. I didn't think much of it but I get now it's worth doing to get the most out of the panels. My panels needed cleaning. They were on my roof for 18 months, they work just fine but they appeared dirty. I called OC Solar land was pleased to hear that they clean the panels that they installed. Hugo came out a few days later and in a couple of hours had my panels looking brand new and my system generating more power. I hadn't even noticed the loss but to see the power generated number higher in the app Thats controls the system was just amazing. You get a solar power system for your home for your own reason(s). Title: Extremely Poor Communication, Unprofessional Roofing Work, and Ongoing Problems I hired OC Solar for my roof and solar project, and they subcontracted the roofing work to Queen Roofing. My experience with both companies has been extremely disappointing. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Communication has been one of the biggest problems. Calls frequently go unanswered, estimates take much longer than expected, and there appears to be very poor coordination between OC Solar and Queen Roofing.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] It has often been unclear who is responsible for resolving issues. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The roofing crew also had a significant communication barrier, making it difficult to discuss concerns or confirm that work was being completed properly.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] During the roof work, my windows were not closed or properly protected, and my home became filled with construction dust. Other issues included: They appeared unable to properly address installation of a roof drain. They said they could not move an air-conditioning unit to replace the wood beneath it and told me to hire a separate HVAC company. They did not appear prepared to install skylights. Additional work was quoted at prices that I considered unreasonably high. Broken clay tiles were going to be placed back on the roof despite prior assurances that the best reusable tiles would be selected. I was initially told that approximately 5,000 replacement tiles were needed, when the actual requirement appeared to be closer to 500. Excess tiles have still not been removed from my property after two weeks. The overall project has been marked by poor planning, questionable estimates, weak supervision, delayed responses, and inadequate communication between OC Solar and its roofing subcontractor. Based on my experience, I would not recommend using OC Solar for a roofing project that is being subcontracted to Queen Roofing. Anyone considering them should get all material quantities, additional charges, subcontractor responsibilities, cleanup requirements, and repair procedures clearly documented in writing before work begins. read more

I read a lot of positive reviews and I was hoping my experience with this business would be equally positive, but it wasn't. "Don," the sales representative I was handed down to, seemed uninterested and too lazy to provide me with a project proposal. He pretty much said they were booked for the rest of the year and showed very little desire to procure my business. Very disappointing service! If you asked to submit information to provide me with a quote, PROVIDE THE QUOTE, and then you let me decide if I want to wait for your services- or not. Showing no interest in gaining more customers because you are busy now is not a good business model. Keep doing this and you may not be busy enough to sustain your business. read more

OC Solar is sort of a misnomer as they not only service the Orange County area they ALSO service LA county! OC Solar has been superb in terms of both service, value, and quality of parts for me! I have evaluated over 6 different vendors, 7 including Tesla itself, but as you probably know Tesla makes the solar panels and Powerwalls but is super unresponsive and helpless when it comes to their solar and powerwall installation department. You are much better off going with a 3rd party contractor like OC solar for installations. OC Solar is one of the few vendors that reliably carries Tesla Powerwalls and Panasonic solar panels. I got a 14 KW system installed this summer on-time and on-budget as proposed in their plan. The only time consuming part was the permitting process, but good thing I started as soon as I bought the home, and planned several months ahead. There were no real hiccups during the process as OC solar kept me in the loop the whole time. Jake my sales rep has been super responsive and easy to work with. He knew I was working on getting multiple bids for my solar system, but has always been professional and comparing their system with other bids, offering counter-bids, and giving me helpful advice and pointers, but never pressured me or gave me a hard time. This is night and day compared to some of the other solar vendors that were either super pushy, or salesy, gave me a hard time, and not even actually knowledgeable about the systems they sell. Some even got angry at me for trying to get multiple bids and trying to get them to counter. I am just shopping and doing my due-diligence! Once I confirmed OC solar was the best bid, price, value, and most trust worthy to me, I let Jake know I decided to go with them. I also made some specific asks in my planset like powerwalls placements, electric panel placement, which were all challenges in my older home, but we worked it all out, and the planset was a go for install. Brooklynn my customer service liaison was wonderful from that point on, kept me in the loop of the various minor revisions we need to do to accommodate city codes, and all through the installation process. Andrea my install scheduler and Omar the foreman all helped to make sure the install week was smooth, it actually only took about 3 days, then one more day for the 4th powerwall and final inspection. Super smooth process, and I cannot be happier with my install. I generated so much electricity in July and August that I accumulated over $200 in SBP (Solar Billing Plan) credit, which can cover future bills if I end up using the grid more than solar again, but I don't expect to use the grid much with my setup, unless I am charging a lot of EVs! Highly highly recommend OC solar for other home owners just exploring installing solar + battery setup or expanding your existing solar panels. read more

I added a solar panel system with powerwalls using OC solar. They did a fantastic job even amid a huge spike in demand due to the change in tax law, plus a change in my setup midway through the project. Great communication throughout the process. Their pricing was extremely competitive and they definitely paid attention to detail, making sure the exterior of my house looked tip top. I compared to other solar projects in my neighborhood and this isn't always the case - you see setups with conduits weirdly placed or not painted to match the exterior of the house. Not with OC Solar, these guys matched the paint to ensure the conduits were virtually invisible. Nice. Special shout out to Matt Webb, my sales rep, for providing true concierge-style service throughout the project, as well as Brooklyn on the customer service team! California is only going to continue jacking our electric rates more and more, so it's worth getting solar even without the credit. And the uninterrupted power supply you get from a home battery is a huge benefit as well. Love my Tesla system. PS - if you want a really streamlined look, ask about getting a "comp out" for your panels which basically blends them right into your roof. I was very pleased with the service Jose provided today for my solar battery. OC Solar inherited my system after the original installer went bankrupt and just disappeared. My battery was not charging at all. Jose approached the issue very methodically to figure out my entire system first, and taking photos of the existing condition and equipment settings. We love OCSolar and all the teams! From the beginning of our project during the planning and design stages through installation and now as we use our solar system OCSolar has been there for us every step of the way. I was a little afraid of the whole notion of solar and how it would look on our new home, how it would feel etc and I couldn't be more thrilled with the result. We completed our project about a year ago and haven't paid a single electric bill. In fact we receive small SCE credits every month. In addition to our solar panels and two power walls we installed a Tesla electric charger. We have two electric vehicles and alternate charging them and it works seamlessly. So in 14 months we haven't paid a penny to run our home or our vehicles. We are pretty much off the grid (although connected due to city requirements). Very cool experience. I was negotiating with a large listed co for my 3000 sqft home in Manhattan beach. I spent six to seven months dealing with them. First they said the roof tiles are light and I need to pay additional for roof management company they hired. Then they wanted to change the main service panel as it was only 125 amp. They wanted 200 amp service. That needed power company involvement and an additional 10k in addition to their bad roof work of 20 k or more. While I lost almost 8 months. I was in touch with their CEO's office on every comunique with run to no avail. I am a registered elec guy myself. The way they went about my project was the wordy I have seen in my 55 years of engineering practice. I also owned my own Eng biz for three plus decades. So finally I terminated them at a substantial cost to me and got nothing!! Big loss of time. I was shocked!! They could have and should have terminated their negotiations but they kept egging me on. Finally I went to OC Solar and spoke to Don Robbins ...all design complete in two months approved by power co by month three and system operational in less than six months. I had additional savings as OC Solar recommended only one backup Tesla 3 battery. The other Co needed to install two batteries for an additional 12 k. With my discussions with Robbins almost every werk( he was always fun to chat with including my usual BS which he did not mind.
