We just finished our solar install with OC Solar and I have to give a shout out to Chandler. From start to finish he made the process simple, explained everything clearly, and was always available for questions without any pressure. The crew was professional, on time, and left everything clean. The system looks great and I'm already seeing savings. read more

I was negotiating with a large listed co for my 3000 sqft home in Manhattan beach. I spent six to seven months dealing with them. First they said the roof tiles are light and I need to pay additional for roof management company they hired. Then they wanted to change the main service panel as it was only 125 amp. They wanted 200 amp service. That needed power company involvement and an additional 10k in addition to their bad roof work of 20 k or more. While I lost almost 8 months. I was in touch with their CEO's office on every comunique with run to no avail. I am a registered elec guy myself. The way they went about my project was the wordy I have seen in my 55 years of engineering practice. I also owned my own Eng biz for three plus decades. So finally I terminated them at a substantial cost to me and got nothing!! Big loss of time. I was shocked!! They could have and should have terminated their negotiations but they kept egging me on. Finally I went to OC Solar and spoke to Don Robbins ...all design complete in two months approved by power co by month three and system operational in less than six months. I had additional savings as OC Solar recommended only one backup Tesla 3 battery. The other Co needed to install two batteries for an additional 12 k. With my discussions with Robbins almost every werk( he was always fun to chat with including my usual BS which he did not mind. He was always pleasant, knew the biz and I felt he was always honest never upselling. Ever. Don Robbins, may God bless you. Thank you O C Solar Kal krishnan read more

I was very pleased with the service Jose provided today for my solar battery. OC Solar inherited my system after the original installer went bankrupt and just disappeared. My battery was not charging at all. Jose approached the issue very methodically to figure out my entire system first, and taking photos of the existing condition and equipment settings. He patiently answered my questions and fixed the issue for the cost provided when I made my appointment. He showed me both on the equipment and my SolarEdge application how I could confirm it is working. He was personable and professional. read more

We recently had Tesla Solar Batteries installed to complement out Tesla Solar Panels. The entire experience was smooth and delightful. It started with speaking to the Senior Sales Consultant Don Robbins, who clearly communicated the options. He was very prompt in putting together a quote that worked for our family. He communicated every step of the way and I really appreciate the fact that OC Solar has a personalized portal so I could always see the progress of my project. I was able to reach Don within a day if I ever had questions about the project along the way. The techs who came out the day(s) of install were awesome and friendly. They were efficient and stayed late to walk us carefully through the process of setting up the app an making the most of our solar batteries. Even when I had to follow up with a tech request to make sure my batteries were functioning properly, they were quick to come out and guide us through it. The office even set up monitoring remotely for a week to ensure the batteries were working properly. I definitely recommend OC Solar for all your solar needs. read more

In fairness, sometimes the company is under mercy of the Inverter maker- SolarEdge. But that's where management comes in needing to put pressure on SolarEdge AND keep track of open cases. Only 1 star for OCSolar mgt but 5 stars to customer support. Since day 1, they have tried their best to do their job. But they need support too! A new inverter finally got installed 5 days ago. Looking good so far, but the final test is the switchover after a power outage. read more

Do you know what I did on New Year's Eve? I bought solar panels and batteries at great end of year prices. Robyn Webb is an all star. She worked through various options, answered my questions thoroughly, and gave me a great solar system. What was epic was her working through the deal on New Year's Eve and all with excellent customer service and strong work ethic. Since that time my experience with OC Solar has been flawless. Every single member of their team that I've worked with has been helpful, proactive, and makes it easy. Top notch company and top notch team! I highly recommend them. We had solar with battery installed by OC Solar last November. Having recently moved to Tehachapi, I was pleased that OC Solar serviced our area, and the job they did was a 5 plus. What struck me in particular was the fact that OC Solar is a well run organization with a motivated staff. Well run - the website was easy to use, the timelines were met, project management was smooth with excellent communication. Our installation unfolded exactly as promised. Motivated staff - our Senior Sales Consultant, Don Robbins. was very responsive to every question, even to the point of responding on weekends. Don was ON IT! We were left feeling confident in the process, the workmanship, and we are very pleased with the end result. OC Solar is a contractor that I highly recommend if you want a painless experience with your solar intsallation. read more

It has been a great pleasure purchasing the complete solar system with energy storage, from OC Solar, and it all started with the more than friendly and highly responsive sales rep, Don! From the initial system design phase, all the way to installation completed and PTO (Permission To Operate) grated by SCE, the entire staff members at OC Solar (Chandler, Tyler, installation crew, Joana, Savanna, and Brooklynn) are all so pleasant to interact with! Two thumbs up!! read more

I rate OC Solar a 2 out of 5. Would I do business with them again? No. I rated them up because OC Solar does have nice, respectful people and they did finish my solar project. The reason I rated them down. My solar project took way too long to finish. They failed inspection twice, and I never felt like I was a valued customer. I felt like I was assigned the "C" team and not the "A" team. My project started in 10/29/24. My solar company went bankrupt and didn't finish my original solar project. I hired OC Solar to hook up my solar to the electrical box and make it work. With my first OC Solar rep, I had two inspections and was quoted a price of $4,500. Then that rep left the company and my inspections were missing. (Delays) My new rep started in December. They had to schedule a new inspection 1/9/25. (Delays) Finally, my project was scheduled to start 2/19 and the cost now is $11,500. My solar was connect 2/26. I received a mechanical lien from the company that sold the parts, this was not expected. The lien did clear. Plans were redrawn to submit to the city in March. (Delays). Plans were submitted in April. (Delays) The project failed two city inspections in April. The city did lose my plans and cause a three-week delay in May. My project finally finished 6/3. I am not a solar expert, but I think this project should have taken 3 months max, not 6 months. All the delays made me feel OC Solar would get around to do my job when it was convenient for them. read more

Just wanted to give a shout out to Juan Quezada for the fine job he did in completing our solar installation. When the inspector came for the final approval he pointed out that we had extra roofing tiles stacked on the roof that could be a safety issue. Without hesitation, Juan did the extra work of clearing all the tiles and stacking them neatly in our storage area. This involved multiple trips up and down a ladder and a full flight of stairs. Juan never got frustrated and always stayed focused on the task of getting the job completed. He was professional, patient, and courteous at all times. What a great employee and Company! Solar panel + battery install, is not straight forward and the city and utilities companies have their idiosyncrasies to be dealt with. Don and his team from OC Solar were fantastic! They were friendly, efficient, responsive and did what they promised to do!

I was really happy with the service I received from OC Solar. All of the staff from sales to installers to support were very professional and frequently communicated about the status of the project. They designed the system based on my usage patterns and predictions about annual solar production based on my roofline and location. They handled all of the paperwork with SCE and made the whole process very easy. They continued to communicate once the system was up and running and provided tips for how to configure the new Tesla battery system they installed and it is working great, so far I'm 98% off grid, which includes keeping my Tesla car charged up. Great experience overall, I highly recommend OC Solar! read more

I recently had solar panels installed by OC Solar. At first, I considered going with a large company like Sunrun, but my next-door neighbor recommended OC Solar, saying their service was excellent and their work very professional. After getting a quote, I found that OC Solar was much more affordable than Sunrun, so I decided to sign a contract with them. Although I was initially concerned about whether a local company would be reliable, I was impressed by how systematically they managed the project. Each stage was handled by specialized experts, and I could track the progress through their website. Whenever issues came up during the project, the staff resolved them quickly, which left a strong impression. In particular, the inspection coordinator, Gabby Ostos, kept in constant communication through email, phone calls, and text messages, which helped ensure everything went smoothly. Both the city permit and Edison's approval were taken care of for me, and what I thought would be a long process was completed in just a little over a month. I highly recommend OC Solar. read more

OC Solar replaced the roof underlayment and installed solar panels and a Tesla battery in September 2024. OC Solar was pretty much trouble free to work with. While it did take almost a full year from signing the contract to installation, none of the hiccups were their fault or really within their control. They installed panels and did an electrical panel upgrade for our home. First, getting the pricing and contract was fairly simple. Contract was done via docusign and very simple. One thing I do recommend is talking to various installers-even if you don't really intend to use them. I got a lot of helpful information that allowed me to make a more informed decision on sizing my system by talking to several people/companies first-this is really important. This helped me choose number of panels, placement, and whether or not to go with a battery. Once you are done with sales, you will be handed off to the project team. They first sent someone out to take measurements and help size the system based on projections I had made. We were still able to make adjustments once the system had been designed, and they were very honest and made a change order that dropped my original price a bit due to some reductions in equipment needs. Some of the delays they may have recognized (or not) upfront, but that doesn't mean it was their fault. The delays in my case were beyond their control. IE if you have an older home and your gas meter is in front of your electric panel, you're going to have to move it before anything can be done-this was my case and took a few months to get resolved. This is because such a placement is no longer permitted by code. So changing some things may require you to change others-and that may have been a known or unknown unknown when you started. OC Solar, when everything was finally lined up for installation, was fast and easy to work with. They got all the permits, installed, coordinated everything with the city and SDG&E, then finished the job quickly and I had everything up and running within a month's time once we passed all the hurdles. All the office staff and electricians and workers who actually did the install were courteous and friendly. Sometimes it felt like the right hand didn't know what the left was doing with them on some minor issues-like their project managers/staff didn't always share info about an ongoing project among themselves, so I would have to make a phone call or email to clear things up once or twice, but it was no big deal and easy to sort out. I'm not taking any stars off for these issues because knowing they have tons of projects, the were nonetheless always courteous and responsive whenever an issue came up, so this is understandable. There pricing was competitive with other firms I spoke with, and they didn't try and steer me one way or another over what I wanted to have installed. I had learned that Tesla equipment locks you into Tesla battery system-it's engineered to be this way, and not wanting to be locked into something , I opted for Panasonic panels and enphase microinverters, which gives us more flexibility in the future if we want to add batteries. Overall, they did a great job and I will look to OC Solar if I need additional work of any sort solar related done. read more
