Just updating this review to confirm that, in spite of the owner's response to my last review, I still haven't heard back from Forme (back to being named Forme again, apparently). I've responded to their December 2025 email twice, and heard nothing back. I still have no idea if they're tracking my system performance or not. They sent me a new tracking app to join last year so I could share my system information with them, which leads me to believe they weren't tracking the system the way they said they would be. There are so many bad solar companies and as a result, many have "orphaned" systems that most companies will not touch. If you're orphaned like me, this is THE place to call. After our experience with the original contractors who did our solar and battery back up, I can not say enough positive things about this Forme. From the initial contact with Nick, to Edwin who took four hours to diagnose our system comprehensively, to the very fair price to overhaul the system and replace the battery, to the efficient team who came out to do the work. The amount of work they did: Pull every panel, replace the entire electric wiring, replacing the battery and reconnecting, and then putting protective cages around the reassembled solar array, would have taken any other company 3 days. This review is long overdue but I wanted to wait a year before posting anything. Long story short, Forme solar is a great company to work with. We initially ordered a system from Tesla and everything seemed to be going well. Suddenly, 4 weeks in, they said they couldn't continue with our project because of our roof tile. Why in the world would it take 4 weeks to determine this? Needless to say, we were super disappointed because they lured us in with a great price but then failed to deliver! What a complete waste of time! Not only that, it felt like pulling teeth just to get a straight answer from them. Then we found Forme solar. We worked with Nick and he was so responsive and informative. From the start, he explained why Tesla would not work on our system and it turns out they only keep the most basic of projects for their in-house crew. The minute there is any complexity, they will cancel on you. Nick and his team were professional, transparent, and consistently focused on making sure that the ROI on our investment made sense. We wound up even scaling back on the solar energy system size so the total project cost wound up being less than what we were going to get with Tesla. 1 year later, things have been running great and we generally do not pay for our electricity because we consume the majority of what we generate. Got approval to turn on our solar from Edison by going solar with Forme. On the positive, they got our application and permits processed in a timely manner. The system was affordable and better priced than competitors. We got a 30 panel Enphase solar project installation at our home. When it came to any inquiry and technical questions about initiating the Solar project, Bobby was very detail oriented and patient with us throughout the process. From end to end any operation / installation related questions about the project, paperwork with Edison, permit approval etc the team was helpful. Unfortunately, after a long struggle I have to report terrible service and leave a 1-star review. The TLDR: Forme did an uninstall/reinstall of my solar system when I had my roof replaced. When they reinstalled, they completely mis-wired my solar system and it hasn't been producing any power since then -- but it took me years to figure out what happened. Mistakes happen, I can live with that. But, critically, they've been completely unwilling to come investigate the problem and fix it. In addition to thousands of dollars worth of lost power production, I'm out many days of my own time learning to debug and repair the system they broke, time I don't have and can't get back. For two whole months now, their receptionist, Zel, has been giving me variants of the same line "I haven't heard back from the tech", "sorry for the delay, I'll talk to the tech and get back to you", and even "It might be a few days, I think the technician is on leave an he didn't give us a report on your system before he left town". The full story: My original solar installer went out of business, so I needed a new company to service my system. When I needed my panels temporarily taken down to have my roof replaced, I read reviews and made a couple phone calls, then picked Forme Solar. The uninstall/reinstall appeared to go okay. They were polite and did the work on time. However, they never gave me the "report showing power production at original levels" afterward. But it was in the late fall, when I don't get much solar power anyway, so I didn't really think about it at the time. Eventually I noticed my summer power bills had gone WAY up. I tried contacting Forme about it, but didn't get a call back. I hired another company to check it. They inspected the system and said "we think the strings are mis-wired, but to know for sure we would need to lift up all the panels to trace the wires" and quoted me $$thousands for that. Since Forme didn't reply and I have an engineering background, I decided to learn to trace the wires myself. That took some study, but I did figure it out. I traced all the wires and confirmed the truth ... Forme had simply made a wiring mistake and hooked up the panels wrong. A dumb mistake, but easy to fix. I called them right away. Zel transferred me promptly to their head engineer, who was in the office. He didn't really seem to believe me about the wiring mistake, and seemed sure it must be some other problem, but said he would send someone out. He asked for the information I'd found, so I spent another whole day taking photographs, videos, and making circuit diagrams, and sent it all to him to review. That took a whole month. Three times they made and missed promises about calling me back, stretching it to three weeks before I even had an appointment date. When the tech did come, he (Chris) was great, but Forme hadn't been told him anything I'd reported. He hadn't seen the circuit diagrams or photos I'd sent, and he WASN'T GIVEN PERMISSION TO CHECK THE WIRING because it would take too long. He checked the inverter, saw it wasn't producing power. He checked the voltages on the lines, which were way too low, but he had to leave without checking the wiring. So I took him up on the roof personally to show him what I'd found. Seeing that, Chris agreed that he would need to come back to trace the wires, and said he could probably find time in his schedule Monday -- he was visiting on a Friday. That was a month ago. Funny that the first call got me an engineer on the phone in 90 seconds, but ever since then Zel will only say "sorry, I haven't heard back from the tech yet". At one point, they straight-up lied to me over the phone. She said "we still don't have a report from the tech who visited you. And I think it might be a few days, because he's on leave." This was obvious B.S. because I had *literally* been on the phone with Chris fifteen minutes earlier, and he had assured me he filed his report the same day he visited, before he event left my place. That's when I finally realized they were just giving me the run-around to delay me. So I gave them a deadline to schedule a follow-up visit (just to schedule it!) and they ignored that too, replying twice more over email with "sorry for the delay -- I'll check with my tech and get back to you." Eventually, I fixed the system myself. I corrected their wiring mistake, and my system immediately started producing power again. But I never had a followup visit! They never traced my wiring, they never confirmed their own error. The good news is that I now 100% know how to maintain my system myself. The bad is that I will never get back the 50+ hours of my time and hundreds of dollars I spent on equipment debugging Forme's mistake, nor the many months that I paid full price for electricity because my solar system was left broken and non-functional. UPDATE: After the review, communication improved Terry the Ceo oversaw and tried to get things to move along. SCE as slow as it was finally approved us. Ultimately, there were still some glitches from the way the installers had used incorrect equipment. A lot more visits to my office than I'd like if planning was better from Forme. So, another hole got added to my building. I was promised by Terry a consumption meter for the panel (a neat feature) to make up for everything (was a nice gesture) but it turns out at the time there was only one for residential therefore just an empty promise. He mentioned there would be a commercial one which he would sell me, and the sentiment would have been better professionally if they just offered me a complimentary one for all the trouble and inconvenience. Overall 3 stars. Maybe my expectations were too high, but as a small business myself, we got to stand out. Terry and Leanne seem nice but that is beneficial only when you get results in. Communication and promises could still be improved as they probably juggle many projects, and maybe smaller projects like mine got lost, miscommunicated, etc. The solar panels work and produce fine, and so far, no issues since all the corrections. They even offered to do a review on production. Which seems nice. Nothing stands out more compared to other companies after all the inconvenience. I also was asked about 10 or more times to revise or add to the original review below. But I'd say read all the reviews good and bad in general. Unlike eating at a restaurant or getting a haircut, getting solar for your home is probably a once-in a lifetime thing, so our positive experience with Forme Solar is something I really wanted to share with those who are considering them. We just got PTO (Permission To Operate, for those not familiar) earlier this week!! Sooo ready to see our ridiculous monthly bill drop like a rock! Although we heard about Forme Solar through a friend, we did our due diligence and shopped around a bit. The other small independents we reached out to were either unresponsive or a bit too eager to make the hard sell (to hit some sales target, I assume). And the big guys, namely Sunrun/Costco, were just uncompetitive when it came to pricing. Not only did Forme beat out competitors' prices by as much as 30% in some cases, they really took the time to familiarize themselves with our circumstance and educate us on a) how best to size our system based on current and future usage, b) variations in inverter types and technology, and which type suited us best, and c) the significance of panel performance, durability, and warranty over pricing. I won't go into detail on professionalism, responsiveness, timeliness, etc., since that's expected... Where they impressed us most was with their adaptability and flexibility. We have an aluminum roof that they were able to work with, whereas more than a few solar companies have told us that they can't do installs on metal roofs. Moreover, my wife requested some panel rearrangements after the install was already complete, and the Forme team took care of that within a day. In essence, she weighed aesthetics over efficiency (but hey, happy wife = happy life). Also, our house is being remodeled, and basically looks like a construction site. Through close communication, the Forme team accommodated not only our busy schedules, but those of our other contractors as well, for the assessment, installation, and inspection. Writing this review to express my frustration with this company. Just like everyone else has stated, Bobby was great to work with. But as soon as the contract is signed, everything went downhill from there. The most annoying issue with ForMe Solar is the lack of communication and their ability to move things along. Every single step in the process required me constantly nagging them/following-up for a response. Emails would go unanswered for days and required follow-ups. And every single time I reached out to the "project manager" - they seemed clueless and disorganized. It felt as if I didn't facilitate/advocate for my project, nothing would get done in a timely fashion. I understand how busy they got with NEM 2.0 but this is not how one ought to do business. They always have some excuses and never own up to their shortcomings. One prime example - me still waiting on the PTO almost 2 months after the final inspection as they never contacted SCE even though they said they would (as they were supposed to). The pricing is reasonable and so far everything has worked okay for me. But buckle up for a long process with a lot of nagging/frustration if you want things done. read more

We don't always make good decisions when it comes to contractors or vendors, but we're very fortunate to have found Forme Solar. We chose them based on their positive reviews on Yelp and the responsiveness of the owners to the reviews, both good and bad ones. Our solar panel install experience matched the reviews and it had everything to do with the people. First, we were introduced to Bobby Singh, the salesperson. He's more of a consultant than a salesperson as there was no sales pitch whatsoever. He didn't try to get us to upgrade to more panels (we settled on 12 based on our past usage) or upsell us to an expensive charger we didn't need. He was extremely communicative, patient and knowledgeable throughout the process. As someone who needs very little about solar energy, it was very refreshing to work with someone you can trust. Once we got our contract signed in late Mar, we were handed off to JC who was our customer success manager. He was just as friendly and helpful. All my emails and questions were answered within 48 hours. And he kept us in the loop of statuses and approvals throughout process. There was never a situation where we didn't know what was happening. After a few months, we got our permits approved in May, the solar panels installed in June and the PTO approved by Edison in July. Fast forward 1.5 years - My system had 8 panels reporting outage. Contacted Forme for services. The issue was revolved within 1.5 weeks (including weekends), and that is simply priceless. It took me about 2 months to shop for the right solar company for my project. Most of the others took forever to get back to me or were too busy with their NEM 2.0 backlog but Nilda from FORME was lightning-fast with answers to my questions. Trust me, I had a ton of them. Short Version: Look no further. Best service, value, and quality for your solar project. Highly recommend! Long version: Seriously Impressed! I am writing this review after having had our solar system installed for a couple weeks now. My initial search for a solar company started late last year. Our family realized we weren't going back to the office or school anytime soon and so our electric bill continued to stay above $250. We decided it was time to look at our options. Some of our friends had gotten their solar system from other companies and sent us their recommendations. I also went on EnergySage, and of course Yelp to get a few more. In total I looked at several vendors and compared them side by side. This meant making sure they quoted the same brand of panels (we opted for REC370 Alpha series), the same size system, and offered the same warranty. I got quotes as high as $42k (Sun Energy...wth right? outrageous proposal!). This is why it's so critical for you to do your research and make sure you get multiple bids. Anyhow we chose Forme because their reviews were top notch, their communication friendly and prompt, and their price was competitive if not the best out of the bunch. Our service representative Bobby was always available when we had any questions. I liked that everything was digital so we were able to sign documents online too. Everything from start to finish was a breeze, they sent me the design over email to review and approve, they handled all the permits from the city, paperwork with SCE, and on day of install they made sure to clean up and not leave any debris around once they were all done. The Forme team was always respectful and followed covid protocols by wearing masks too. My only concerns were they don't always communicate with you on the time for when they will show up. I had to text Bobby or Terry for things like when the electrician would arrive, or when the stucco was going to be repaired, etc. But honestly this was MINOR compared to the grand scheme of things because they really did a great job on our install. I looked closely at the installation work and it's all very clean and professionally done. No weird wires, no discolored pipes, no odd or ends sticking out, just a really well done install that any home owner can be proud of. At the end of it and in line with social distancing protocols, nick conducted a zoom meeting with my husband and I so we could learn how to use the app to see our energy production. He showed the different layouts and various ways of looking at the data. I'm very pleased with Forme and would not hesitate to recommend or refer them to anyone! So to be fair, I am not a customer of Forme Solar, so I cannot attest to their quality of work. The reason I am not a customer is the reason for the review. I have solar on a commercial building that needs service. I contacted Forme Solar and requested them to come out and do a diagnostic inspection to determine the problem and proceed with repairs from there. I was given a price of $350 for the diagnostic and I set up the appointment. The next day I received a call from them informing me that the diagnostic charge was actually going to be $500. I don't do business like that or with anyone who does. It is absurd to raise the price at all, let alone by almost 50% after a price has been agreed upon. It is my experience that this type of business practice will ultimately cause a business to fail. If your potential customers cannot trust you, they will not become paying customers, as in this case. I had a new construction 2 year ago and this home was a rental . I did not know much about solar , so I trusted Forme solar to do the work, since they had great reviews . 2 years later I discovered the permissions to operate was never submitted with Edison . The tenants didn't know they were not getting the benefits from the panels . After the discovery , Zel was able to get the permission to operate and the owner Nick made it right . The whole ordeal was stressful and it took several calls to the office before they took care of it . Would I go with them again , definitely a big NO! They need to improve on their communication . I have since put solar in my own home and the process was incredibly the best! Nothing like my my first experience with Forme Solar. read more
