With so many options out there for solar install companies it was all a bit confusing. After doing research and reading reviews some great and some absolutely terrible I decided to to give Simply Solar a call as the reviews were nothing short of great. They were very prompt with their communications which was a great start. I scheduled an appointment with William on Aug 19, 2019. Here's the thing I loved most about the salesman William. He wasn't pushy at all with getting me to sign a contract or bugging me constantly if I had made a decision. He did check in a few times if I had made a decision but again not pushy. Not sure about anyone else but I hate pushy sales people and instantly get turned off. But back to William, he is a down to earth and up front salesman. Very knowledgeable about the product he is selling and helped direct me in the right direction. If your looking for honest accurate info William is your guy. So after meeting with 2 other companies just to see what my options were. I pulled the trigger and signed on with Simply Solar. The cost was a bit higher than the others but well worth it. Next person of communications was Ashley who is in house to keep the project moving forward. From start to finish her communication and timeliness in response was excellent. Ashley was constantly on top of communications with my roofing company as I was getting both done. As soon as the new roof was on the install Techs came in. I cant remember the names of the install tech but there were 2 of them and again like everyone else at Simply Solar they were top notch. Friendly, Super careful with the new roof, and went over exactly what they were going to do. I didn't realize how quick they would get it installed in just 2 days including a panel upgrade. After that was all done Dan again who was awesome came by to finish the stucco work where they had done the new panel upgrade and made it look finished. So now everything has been installed and we are just awaiting confirmation from SCE to go live. I have heard horror stories of people waiting months to be approved for going live with their solar. Simply Solar again was on top of communication with SCE and our system was up and running in less than a week after the install. Over all I think the whole process once things got started was probably less than 2 weeks. AMAZING!!!! Its been about 6 months now since I have had the panels and im so glad we got them. The first few months we were in the hole with SCE as the days were short but now that the days are longer and more sunny were putting more into the grid and chipping away at our yearly bill. At the rate this thing is running we should be close to 0 due. If your looking to go solar and want the best service, product and experience this is your go to company. read more

I had an issue with one of my panels. I reached out on the main website and they responded very quickly. John the service advisor helped me pinpoint the problem and a technician came out within 2 weeks. My issues was not urgent and I told them a later service date was cool. The technician came out today. They repaired one of the inverters. I know there are many shady solar companies out there big and small but this company services a wide area and they are very helpful, honest and knowledgeable. Be careful with this business if you are thinking about doing solar on a property that has a HOA. I recently brought a property on a new build and a solar policy was not in place with the HOA. My mistake was signing the paperwork sent by William for the work order without having all my ducks in a row. I should have waited for my HOA to establish a solar policy before signing anything with simply solar. I was too excited about solar and had them send out their engineers to do a survey of my property before a solar policy was established. William is very good at his job and give him high marks for being a good sales rep. After I got the solar policy from my HOA I decided to not do solar. That is when things go south. I stated to William about my HOA policy and expressed to him I don't feel comfortable moving forward with the project. He understood my concerns and we agreed to do a stop order. After all this I get stuck with a $500 fee. Yea I get that I was too excited about this project before a HOA policy was established but I felt like I was getting ripped off and stuck with this fee. They will guarantee that they can get you solar regardless of what your HOA states. The problem is if HOA needs to do work on your roof and you have a system installed and simply solar can't meet the dates of removal or moving the system you're stuck between a rock and a hard place with your HOA. They stated I can use the $500 for a future project but I'm going to have to pass about using them in the future. Learn from my mistakes and have all your ducks in a row before signing anything. I had Simply Solar install my solar system the end of last year. The process went smoothly from beginning to end. I started off working with William during the beginning stages, quotes, contract, financing, etc. When all of that was in place, I started working with Jonathan as my contact person during the rest of the process. Both of them couldn't have been more helpful when I had a bazillion questions and was feeling very nervous. They were always very kind and polite. And I also appreciated that I wasn't pressured in the least. While going through the initial phase, William gave me the time I needed to think about it without trying to push me into a decision. The installers were always very prompt. I had a little issue with where to put all the equipment when it was delivered. And they took the time to get it all situated so I had access to everything I needed at my house during the install. At the end of every day, they left my property cleaned up. They never hesitated to stop and answer any questions I had. I love the look of the panels. They are black and very sleek. Now that I have my own installed, I notice panels on other people's houses. And I have to say mine blend in so much better and look so much nicer than other ones I see. I had an issue with my wi-fi about a month after the install. I received an email from Enphase that my system wasn't reporting to them. Although it wasn't reporting to them, it was still sending electricity (or whatever they call it) the system generated to Edison. Simply Solar got someone out to my house right away and got me back online. If you're unsure about installing solar and who to have install it, I say give Simply Solar a call. We had a system installed couple of years ago in Upland CA. Everything went okay but now for a long time I am not sure about its performance as there are no email reports only non connection no data. I received quotes from 6 different installers; Solar City, Sun Power, Pacific Sky Solar, Sungevity and Treeium. Here is the breakdown of prices, keep in mind that Simply Solar will use Solar World panels with Micro inverters which is a more expensive system and they still came in lower than any of the 5 mentioned above. Solar City - $16575 central inverter Sunpower - $15537 - central inverter Treeium - $16621 micro inverters Pacific Sky solar - $12600 central inverter Sungevity - $11577 central inverter (I tried calling them 2X with questions they never returned my call) ------------------------------------ Simply Solar came in at $12112 micro inverters. Each micro inverter costs about $120 and you need as many as the number of panels you are getting. So for 10 panels you would need to add $1200 more to your price. The Solar World panels are the second best panels on the market, (285 kWh/panel), the best are SunPower (generating 320 kWh/panel), SunPower is considerably more expensive. Simply Solar can instal the SunPower panels if you wish, it will be more expensive. For us Solar World panels are sufficient. Costs: You receive a rebate from your utility Co. $.40 x AC watts your system generates for us it will be $836. We just signed it over to Simply Solar so our system will actually cost $12112 - 863 = $11249. In addition to this you receive a Federal tax credit to offset your tax liability (if you owe taxes) the tax credit is 30% of the FULL cost of the system, i.e.12112, not the reduced amount after the utility rebate, 11249. Our federal credit will be 12112 x .3 = $3633 The Fed tax credit is set to EXPIRE at end of 2016!!! In my case I will save $25,000 for the life of the system (about $1000/year for 25 years). I will pay $7500 for the system, thus making $17500 on the purchase. This is a guaranteed return on investment. I spoke to Anita the founder and CEO of the company and really liked the way she approached the entire process. I have already recommended her to all my friends who are considering going solar. I will update this post with how they do with the installation, but I can't imagine them doing anything wrong. Anita is the general contractor who will be here overseeing the installation. They inspected the roof and said it was fine but it could be upgraded. Simply solar would do the roof. They gave me the option of only doing the portion of the roof where the panels would be going. I got a quote to put a new layer of shingles on the roof from Slater Roofing, $6K for the entire roof, Simply Solar was $3600. I opted to do 1/2 of the roof for $1800. This way I know there will be no issues. Simply Solar did not push for the roof they told me it's fine the way it was but the roof is older than 10 years and did look worn down at spots. The price was more than reasonable so there was no reason not to do it. Will keep you posted. INSTALLATION: The crew came in at 9:20, they were done at 3:10. No problems, 10 panels in. They have to come back tomorrow with the city's inspector to get the city's approval. We then have to wait for DWP for their approval and activation. All went well no issues of any kind. NOTE: I have shingles on the roof (much simpler process), the install is considerably more complex with a tile roof. read more

SimplySolar should change their name to Simply Awful. My first encounter with them was pleasant enough, but very high pressure. I found out later in the process that my salesman had lied to me, in regard to how long the company has been in business. He said the company had years of experience in commercial Solar installs. None of which was true. The company is 4 yrs old. SimplySolar didn't honor the install window in our contract. Our contract said in BOLD letters, NO DOWN PAYMENT. With out any notification they withdrew $1,000.00 on a line of credit set up through GeenSky. If you are planning to finance a solar project, I DON'T recommend GreenSky. Their Customer Service is nonexistent. SimplySolar pushes a mid-grade solar panel, with mediocre output. I requested better quality panel with a higher output. SimplySolar hiked the price of the project by about 25%. Their goal was to discourage me from wanting anything other than what they had to offer. If I had done more research on SimplySolar, I would have never signed a contract with them. I live in a high wind area. The install they proposed would have caused great damage to my roof over time. SimplySolar offered a 10 yr warranty on the install. A warranty is only as good as the company behind it. I would wager SimplySolar won't be around to honor any warranties. After eleven weeks, NO actual work had been done on my home. No materials had been deliveries to my property. I canceled the project. At this point, I was told I would be charged a 10% cancellation fee. There was NO provision in our contract for a cancellation fee / penalty. Simply Solar had access to the line of credit with GreenSky. They immediately took what they wanted from the account. 10% of the contract agreement. NO discussion with me. I got burned. Our contract did have a provision which stated, all disputes would be resolved through arbitration. There was NO arbitration. Our contract was a joke. When I think about it, SimplySolar didn't honor other aspects of the, "contract." Why would I expect them to honor this one. Silly me. I filed a complaint with the CSLB; Contractors State Licensing Board. Do YOUR RESEARCH. I wish I'd done mine. Don't pick an overnight, upstart company like SimplySolar. They are in it for the quick buck.It's ALL about the quick SALE. Customer satisfaction? Like our contract, a joke. SimplySolar won't be around to honor a warranty of 10 to 25 yrs. They will probably go out of business and start up again under a different name. Businesses like this, do that. I was so turned off by this experience, I gave up on the idea of going solar. A few weeks after this ordeal, I was approached by a larger, well established Solar company with over 250 Five Star reviews on Yelp.Their wide range of products and professionalism was impressive, to say the least. It was almost worth it to lose money with SimplySolar. I never would have found these guys. I got the panels I wanted for thousands less than The mid-grade Mediocre panels that SimplySolar offered. When it came time to do solar, I thought I did not have time to go through a bidding process. Instead I just chose a certain "big-name" company and was ready to give them the job without any competitive bidding. What ensued was the biggest surprise of my life. That "big-name" company literally did everything they could possibly do to fail. The receptionist ignored every request I made (Contact Time, Contact Means, Information, etc.) and finally disqualified me. Further efforts also failed! Forced to seek bids I turned to Yelp and sought out at least eight companies. Three companies rose to the top. The top two were very competitive; however, I received the most thorough and thoughtful answers to my questions from Simply Solar. That was just the beginning. Every facet of the service and the team was outstanding. Through all the companies I've dealt with (in any genre) anywhere, Simply Solar is right with the best. We had Simply Solar install 24 solar panels on our home several months ago and we are very pleased with the whole process and performance of the system. We had several other quotes and Simply Solar not only had the pest price, but provided us with very useful information that no one else explained to us. They also were able to have it installed much faster than what other providers were offering . They have great customer service and due to us living in an area that we have poor Internet service, they came out several times to work around our inability to monitor the system.
