OMG thank you Van Lund Roofing!!! On Friday November 14th late afternoon the rain was pouring all of a sudden we saw water dripping from my daughter's bedroom ceiling. Our house isn't that old so I was totally shocked... until I remembered we had solar panels installed few years ago. Pretty sure the installers must've cracked a few tiles walking around up there. I snapped some pictures of the leak, sent out quote requests on Yelp, and James from Van Lund replied almost instantly -- said he could be here 7 a.m. Saturday. Most other places couldn't come until Monday and more rain was coming all weekend, so that wasn't happening. James showed up right on time, found four cracked tiles letting water in, tarped everything perfectly on the spot. It poured cats and dogs Sat-Mon and we didn't get another drop inside. As soon as the rain stopped Tuesday morning, the crew was back. Replaced the broken tiles, sealed everything up, and they were done in 4-5 hours. Roof looks great and they cleaned up like they were never here. Super professional, honest, crazy-fast response, fair price, and they saved us from major water damage. I had engaged with Van Lund a few months ago about replacing my skylight cap. We corresponded via text and had an estimate appointment on the books. However, I recommended we reschedule via text because of a rain system rolling in, didn't think it was a good idea to go up on my roof when it was wet. He agreed, but never replied with a follow-up date despite my asking. I had followed up again a few days later, called the office. Then the holidays were upon us and I let it slide until January, I called the office and left a message. Then again a few days later. Then I texted the number I had been texting with previously (a blue bubble text with delivery confirmation btw) and it went unanswered. Boo! I noticed two leaks in my roof during the last rain, which was quite heavy. I "Yelp'ed" for estimates on repairs and Van Lund was the first to respond. Overall, I had three companies provide inspections/estimates for repairs, not a roof replacement. James (Van Lund Roofing) provided an estimate for repairs which was, what I thought, a very reasonable price. He took photos and showed me the damages to my tiles and explained the repair process. Two other roofers, from Yelp, also provided estimates. One was quite reasonable and super nice but the other told me he wouldn't warranty repairs unless he basically replaced half of my roof for a ton of money. I went with Van Lund since they are a local company and James was more than professional and respectful. The estimate was provided last Thursday and the repairs were done today (4 days). Jesus and Noe came to the house and began repairs immediately after we shared conversation and a cup of coffee. They were both clean, professional, and wasted no time in getting the job started. James called me about an hour into the job and told me that his crew noticed additional issues. He told me of the issues and the cost for the repairs and I approved the work being done as I wanted the roof done properly, not a band aide on a bullet hole. The entire job, with the additional repairs, was done and James came to the house to check on the crew's work. I was extremely happy with James, Jesus, and Noe. With the recent weekend rain, a small leak near the same spot that was repaired, started to leak. I wasn't sure if the leak was caused by the solar installation crew. I contacted my solar installer, and they assured me the leak was not caused by Solar installation team. I called Van Lund Roofing and explained to him my leak. Without any questions, James scheduled an appointment and assured me if the repair was not done correctly, he would resolve the issue. James truly cares about his work and his customers. I decided to go with James because the overall price and communications just felt better. I also got an quote for a solar panel system. The solar system price is cheaper compared to Tesla/solarcicty. For the SolarCity, they quoted me 4.77kW system for $20K. James has it at $21k for 5.8kW system. The overall experience is great. They covered the garage and swimming pool when they are tearing down the old roofs so the debriefs didn't get in. They also fixed the plywood when needed (extra per sheet). They also took care of the drip edge, exhaust vents, and etc. This is big because as a first time home owner, I have no idea what I need. And them taking care of all this is very helpful to me. Also for the solar, they took care of everything as well. All I needed to do was providing electricity bills and sign the agreement to SCE. Being that my wife and I were on a very tight budget we decided to shop around and meet up with a couple contractors in regards to getting our roof and a couple other major things repaired around the house. After the first big rain of the season, I discovered a leak over our finished garage. I called Van Lund Roofing for an estimate. Knowing that roofing companies are always busy after the first big rainstorm, I was surprised that James, the owner, was able to meet with me within a couple days. Despite having several employees, James told me he likes to evaluate jobs and provide estimates himself. He's not your typical "salesman." He's experienced, humble and honest. James identified the problem area near a roof valley and provided a low and high estimate based on what the initial teardown uncovered. James was able to schedule the work within five days of the estimate. Two roofers showed up on time and finished the job in less than a day. Both workers were respectful and efficient. They fixed the leak, made improvements to the roof valley to prevent future leaks, and left the jobsite clean. The cost was reasonable and came in at the low estimate.
