Finally had a chance to check this place out for breakfast and loved it! First, the coffee was SO good! Hubs had scrambled eggs, bacon, and a side of tomatoes along with whole wheat toast; I had a breakfast sandwich with egg, bacon & cheese, and a side of hash browns (nice and crispy just like I like them!). Everything was really good! My only wish would have been a little more bacon on my sandwich - next time I'll know to ask! Restaurant is nice and clean and bright (bathrooms are SPOTLESS!) and our server was very accommodating and friendly. We look forward to coming back again! read more

Went here after a terrible morning experience with our hotel checkin at Delta 8 by Marriott. The food was amazing, I ordered the country omelette and my fiancé ordered the banana waffle. Our waiter was amazing as well always checking in on us but also giving us time to eat and have our conversations. She did not interrupt us one bit. The overall place seemed like a mom and pop restaurant. The ambiance was like going to a local Cracker Barrel without the props. Only complaint was that the waffle was possibly too " sweet ". read more

Hidden gem. This place used to be a bank building so it's easily passed by. But definitely don't let it pass you by... The staff is very friendly, the owner comes out and greets you and even talks about menu. Ideas in the food was absolutely delicious. Our waitress was Sarah, and she was a sweet as can be, and told us that her favorite was the bacon cheeseburger. We wanted to try it and the the grilled cheese and they were both fabulous. The ambience is clean and beachy. Looking forward to visiting again to try other menus items. read more

First timer here breakfast good I had the corn beef hash and eggs ,fruit ,English muffin all cook just right . Potion was good also Also had a meat lover omelet not as good a bit on dry side potions was good . Service was great fast right on the order . Friendly staff . This is an update on Sunrise. Sorry, I couldn't attach this to my original review but I need to show you the AWESOME staff. Gary is our FAVORITE ‍ cook of all time. He is so special. and adorable (shh) He'll try making garlic knots, garlic bread, then give them to us to try. I'm in love with his Turkey Dinner. It's usually a Thursday night special. Sunday's Rob makes homemade lasagna. Absolutely delicious The food has turned around and you must try it again. The new owners are Rob and John and they changed the food recipes. The owners also bought Gourmet Kitchen up on Granada past route 95. You will NOT be disappointed in either restaurant. I have to do mornings at Gourmet Kitchen and dinner at Sunrise. I do NOT like to cook and especially clean my mess after cooking so, we go out aah lot. The staff is so much fun. They have sooo many regulars and they remember what we like. BE WARNED: Just got home and my mother and I immediately started puking and "other symptoms" of food poisoning. There is hardly any service and the atmosphere is bland and boring. If you like overpriced worse-than-Waffle House food which will make you sick, feel free to explore this gem. read more

We ordered three large pizzas all different. The price was extremely reasonable for what we purchased. The quality was absolutely excellent. Quite frankly I was a little surprised because the restaurant advertises as pizza and grill but was not expecting this quality of pizza from a diner. Very pleasantly surprised. Left Beach wanted to try a place on beachside as we don't usual dine on this side of town. Looked up reviews and glad we stopped. This place is open airy clean and had great service. Our Bill was $23 and portions were plentiful. We would visit again. The only thing I'd add is they should have a radio or some background music to cheer up vibe. We found it to be very quiet but that's just personal preference. read more

We've come here before. Decent food, service. But this visit - I ordered a mimosa, and after a minute the waitress said they were out of champagne (it's prosecco btw). No problem, how about a Bloody Mary? Minute later...nope. out of vodka. Publix is in same parking lot. Had to say it. "You know there's a liquor store right there." You have to be kidding. She didn't know the breakfast specials eithet. Not coming back. read more

Been here for breakfast and lunch before, went for dinner for the first time. Started with the most delicious onion rings ever. Eggplant Parm was well presented and so good, served over spaghetti. Salad with house dressing was a nice side dish, and a freshly made bread stick rounded things out. My companion's lamb gyro looked so good I think I will order it next time. Prices are fair for the quality of the food too. read more

First time visiting this cute little spot in Ormond By the Sea, and we are so happy that we did! The service was awesome, and everyone was very friendly! The servers have a wealth of knowledge about the area, and their location & menu! We didn't wait for a single thing, and they checked back with us throughout the visit. It was pretty busy when we were there, so we really appreciated that they were able to be so attentive. Local owned and operated, and also took the time to recommend other local owned places to show support for area restaurants that are family run. Not really sure where the 4 and 5 star ratings are coming from. We had breakfast here and it was good but there is nothing special about it. The place is a regular diner -- nothing noteworthy about it. We were greeted when we arrived and took a seat. When they first open they served good size portions, food was freshly cooked and hot. The last couple of times I have noticed their portions are a lot smaller and food at times come out warm or cold. Service is friendly, but there are just a couple of servers, which make service go slow. So try to avoid going when is crowd! The place is spacious and always clean! read more

We were weekly regulars. Then due to health issues we started to order over the phone through DoorDash. Every time we ordered there was something missing from the order. The quality of the food just wasn't there anymore. Under the new ownership something is lacking. There's no consistency in the food. The servers are some of the best we found anywhere. Although several of the great service have suddenly disappeared. The same thing happened to the gourmet kitchen restaurant. It is now called the Southern kitchen. Also food quality is not consistent. And several of the servers that have been there for decades are gone. It's just not the same. It's a shame because these are two prime locations that could do really well with proper management. Even after calling the restaurant and speaking to management about the orders being wrong all the time. Nothing improved. I highly recommend the Ormond Beach diner which is right down the road on A1A. Top quality food beautiful atmosphere and wonderful servers. read more

A neighborhood staple. My Dad and I go here nearly every week for dinner and we have our "table." It's tradition. To start the staff, even the new staff here are just fabulous and truly one of a kind and they feel like family, even if you're just coming in for the first time. Tips on food: you have options. I love this. You can get breakfast or you can get dinner and all of it is good. My favorite thing to get here is the Hawaiian calzone. It's always cooked with consistency and I've never had a miss. DO NOT: leave here without ordering desert. read more

Had food here at least twice on our trip. First we did a delivery meat lovers medium pizza and mozzarella sticks. Both we delicious. Pizza was loaded with toppings. Wasn't greasy. Mozzarella sticks were yummy, six to an order. Also they delivered this to our hotel which was awesome. We had breakfast there the next day. Eggs, bacon, hash browns, toast. Everything was yummy except the hash browns were a bit dry. A little ketchup helped that. Waitress was nice and service was very quick. I'd eat here again easily. read more

We came in an hour or less before closing which can be a challenge these days. This place didn't disappoint. We ordered two omelettes (western and meat lovers) and patty melt. The patty melt and fries were very tasty and hit the spot. The omelettes and hash browns came with large portions and included a side of toast. No frills good tasting food that hit the spot right before closing time which can be hit or miss at some restaurants. Will definitely come back. read more

Service - possibly too much! :-) We happened to be seated at the end of the bar and every time a server passed us, they checked on us, tried to collect servingware (some of which was awaiting use) and asked if we needed anything. They were friendly and welcoming, not pushy. Tip: We heard a server describing flights to a nearby table. We had not been told of these. There was a $12 mystery flight with either 3 reds or 3 whites. There was a premium 3 taste red flight at $18. I am using the word taste loosely here as we were advised each taste in the flight is 1/2 glass. Everyone was happy to let us taste any wines that were open. The premium flight included a higher end version of the wine we got by the bottle (Mendoza Malbec) which the proprietress proactively offered us. Judging by that alone, the premium flight would have been worth the price. All wines by the glass were $7 or $15. On to the food and menu: The menu is a nice size and has offerings that would appeal to many palates and appetites. We tried the Crab Remick and the Grazing Board MKT ($20). We were there a year ago when the transition from "Better Days" to the "vine" was still in process. I liked the old menu a little better, but that's a matter of taste. The crab cakes and pasta choices are not on the menu now. (There is mac and cheese) For a scratch kitchen it is strange to me that they don't have any bread. In fact, I question whether they make the crostini. These crostini are small, cracker-sized, and have garlic flavoring. The actual crackers are clearly not made in house (see my photo). I looked at the photo of the French onion soup to see what bread is in there and I could not tell. But here is the thing, coming from Northern CA, having bread, preferably sourdough, to go with your cheese and wine is a key part of the experience for me. I think the Bistro is missing a couple big opportunities here. The first is to offer fresh bread with both the wine tasting menu and the brunch. And the other one is to get SF sourdough starter and use that for a unique and special attraction. Last time we were here, we got the meatball sliders and we really liked those. BTW, they offer tablets that have the menu, including photos, and wines, if you like to access the information that way.

They propped open the door with all the cold air coming in, everyone except the cook that was working there stopped what they were doing and started to unloaded their order. Never once were we asked if we needed anything. My husband was almost hit in the back of his head with a big box of snack size Lays potato chips. Honestly, that was very unprofessional if they do this every Tuesday morning, they are only opened until 2 PM. They have all afternoon to have an order delivered or come in early before the restaurant opens to have it delivered. You do not go back-and-forth through a restaurant ignoring your customers because you have a delivery. Besides that... aren't most deliveries brought in through the back door not the front. We waited for our check but never came so we stood at the register until we could pay our bill. The restaurant was nicely decorated for St. Patrick's Day but maybe be more considerate of your customers.

The biggest issue was the quality of the food. If you're going to charge around $15 for a breakfast, put a good-quality sausage patty on the grill. It doesn't take much to make a flavorful sausage gravy from scratch either, but this gravy tasted like it came straight from a bag or can and had almost no flavor. The biscuits themselves were actually pretty good, but pouring margarine over the top completely changed the taste. The sausage patties weren't very good and seemed like they'd been left on the grill too long. The fried potatoes were decent, and so was the sourdough toast. The staff was nice and working hard--they were extremely busy. There were a lot of people in line, so clearly plenty of people enjoy the breakfast here, and the place itself has an interesting atmosphere. The price didn't help. $4 for a Sprite is overkill. We had one breakfast with an egg, sausage, toast and home fries, one waffle, half an order of biscuits and gravy, and drinks, and the bill was over $40. At that price point, I simply expect better-quality breakfast ingredients. This is just our experience and opinion. The staff was friendly, and considering how busy they were, I give them credit for that. Maybe we'll give it another shot next year, but this time around, the quality just didn't match the price.
