We stumbled upon Fraze's when in Daytona looking for some lunch. It is very much a local spot and we sure were glad we found it. They have a variety of choices and different daily specials. We all were oddly in the mood for the same thing - philly cheesesteak sandwich. It came with onions, peppers, and mushrooms. I ordered mine without the mushrooms though. It was really good and just what we needed and were hoping for! The bread was great, perfectly toasted and warm and they were generous with the insides, giving a good portion of meat. I split mine and felt full/content. We had some fries between the orders and those were tasty too. They were the real potato fries , nice and fresh. Really good fish and chips. With my plate I also got hush puppies, fries and coleslaw for only $11.00. The portions are great I was so full I couldn't eat the rest of my food. It's more or a mom and pop family like restaurant which i enjoy . This place is incredible. Probably built in the 50's they feature comfort food that everyone will love. They have a standard menu filled with food that mom used to make and specials everyday. My favorite is the Tuesday special, the pork tenderloin sandwich. It is the biggest pork tenderloin I have ever seen. It is as big as the plate and 4 times bigger that the hamburger bun. When I see a sign that says "Scratch Cookin" it always gets my attention especially when it lunch time and I'm craving something fresh and delicious. We stopped in here while in the area and found the parking lot mostly filled but was able to get seated without a wait. The service here is exceptional and is only matched by the food and it's reasonable pricing. This was my first time here but I have been told by others "if you every get the opportunity stop in" After getting the low down on the menu by our extremely friendly and accommodating server we placed our order - A traditional Cuban and a simple handmade 6 oz Cheeseburger and hand cut fries to share pretty simple but none the less amazing. Affordable and tasty! The pork cutlets are no joke, but we somehow managed to finish our massive portions. I liked their onion cucumber salad as a fresh side to the fried food. Service is fast and friendly. Only downside is the seating is quite rough around the edges-- the place could use a deep clean. First time here, and I get everybody like this place. They have daily specials. This was Friday, and the special was shrimp and fish, palock, or Mahi Mahi, with hush puppies, coleslaw, and French fries. We got that, and it was as good as we have had in any place in town, at a much cheaper price. We also got the fried chicken, Buffalo style. The chicken was excellent. Boneless beast, fried, and moist. The servings were pretty huge. The staff were very nice. The restaurant was very clean. It was karaoke night, and the place was starting to get full. Three of us decided to go to Fraze's on Thursday night because the special was meatloaf and we all wanted that. We got there at 5:30 pm and were told they were out of meatloaf. There were exactly two other people in the restaurant at the time and it was barely dinner hour. So we asked for menus and drinks while we read them. I ordered coffee and was told they don't serve coffee because it's too hard. All they had for drinks were beer, iced tea. soft drinks and tap water basically. I requested water with ice and some lemon slices, since the city water is disgusting. The waitress gave me water with no ice and one very thin slice of lemon. We perused the menu and finally decided on sandwiches. I ordered a sloppy Joe, since it is hard to mess that up. The only choices for sides were french fries or sweet potato fries, OR two sides, the choices being baked beans or coleslaw, and no substitutions, so I went with the fries, which are homemade. My companions ordered a patty melt with sweet potato fries and a pulled pork sandwich and french fries. The sloppy joe was fine but the french fries were terrible. They were obviously reheated and had so much salt that they were basically inedible. The pulled pork sandwich was supposed to have "Carolina bbq sauce", but what was in the container smelled and tasted exactly like Italian dressing. We asked for regular bbq sauce and they brought ketchup. None of us finished our meals and we were all pretty disgusted at the food and the service. When we went to pay, they said they only email receipts or send it to phones but I never received mine so will have to wait till it shows up on my bank statement to verify. Altogether it was not an enjoyable experience and we will not be back. It's a shame because this place used to be a favorite for good, homemade, old fashioned meals. Why anyone would advertise a special every day, but not make enough to even last a half hour is a mystery to me. read more

Food is so good!! Cuban is best we have ever had. Pulled pork just melts in your mouth. Almost don't need any BBQ sauce. My husband loves their French fries. He always gets two order of fries. They have cucumber salad that has onion and dill. Really good baked beans. They also sell Arnold Palmer soft drink that's homemade. Try their dessert also very good. Candyce had a cheesesteak sandwich and it was hot and loaded. Her side was waffle cut sweet potato fries. I tried the fries and they were excellent and I'm not a big fan of sweet potato fries. Totally non descript place on Ridgewood @ 10th that you could easily pass, but trust me .... DON'T!!! Their sign says KILLER CUBANS, and they're not lying. Even overheard a customer say they have the best Cubans this side of New Orleans. My sandwich was cooked too perfection and I could taste each aspect, the bread, the sauce, the Swiss cheese, the pulled pork, the bread and butter pickles ... it was divine!! Normally when I see a serving of these long, skin on fries I'm afraid of how greasy and soggy they're going to be ... these were NOT (see photo). They held their shape and even at the bottom of the basket there wasn't an abundance of grease and they held their shape. The sodas aren't your typical coke or Pepsi, they're a natural pure cane sugar soda and my orange cream was awesome. The staff is fun and the cook was teasing and messing around and was getting it right back. They obviously enjoy working together. I would've liked more napkins but otherwise everything was perfect. I took my meal to go with plans to eat it over the next 2 days as I was traveling. So happy I did! I got the Cuban sandwich, ribs, brisket (the dipping vinegar they include with it is...phenomenal), fried corn (ate that first SO GOOD, get the sauce that goes on it), chili, beans, cucumber/onion salad and potato salad. Phenomenal service. I have a number of food allergies and the server made sure that none of the seasonings would bother me. I had the fish and shrimp special. The grilled shrimp was excellent. Awful smell when first walking in, the tables are extremely sticky, very inattentive waiter, my cup was empty for about 15 minutes before i got a refill. I wasn't even asked if I wanted a new drink. which normally I wouldn't care but there was only one other table in there and the waiter came by mine twice to ask for an order. The food was greasy as hell and the fries were burnt. Now the worst part I got lucky that there was no hair in my food because there was NO HAIRNETS on any worker in the kitchen. Larry loves pork chops and when I saw they were on the menu tonight I knew that's where we were going for dinner. They did not disappoint. Hand cut and perfectly grilled. I took a chance on meatloaf, their other special. I am often disappointed but this was just how I liked it, the bbq topping was just sweet enough. We both had mashed potatoes and gravy. The potatoes are freshly mashed and the gravy perfect. Our other side was deep fried corn on the cob, it didn't look pretty but was good. This is by far one of the best kept secrets in the Daytona Beach area. We went there by chance and all four of us had different entrees. One was the ribs that were on special and they were fall off the bone tender, another had the Havana Egg Press, a third had the brisket and I had the chicken sandwich. The chicken sandwich was hand breaded chicken tenders on a bun. I have never had such good chicken before in my life. Went to Fraze's on a Saturday night and was seated immediately at a window table. The filth & fly activity in the window was unacceptable, but, I decided to order food and stay. Besides the fly activity (which usually means there's something not right somewhere in the restaurant) your arms stuck to the top of the table because they have the feeling that syrup was spilled there 1,000 times before and wiped up with a dirty rag only to be continually tacky. The people waiting on tables and running the place are really nice. We ordered 2 blackened mahi sandwiches with a side 1/2 pound of grilled shrimp. The mahi was excellent as were the fresh cut French fries. The shrimp, 11 were served in 1/2 pound so, I would think they were 20/25 size, were well seasoned, but otherwise tasteless, farm-raised variety. The cucumber salad was excellent, but served in small, plastic condiment containers. Beer & wine is reasonably priced. Fraze's has a lot of potential, but they need to tidy up the place a lot. read more

Got damn can these guys cook! Had the pleasure of eating here twice. Ordered off their special menu both times; had wings, and a blackened chix sandwich - DEEElicious!! The wing sauce was super flavorful, and the chicken fillets that made up the sammie were plentiful and perfectly seasoned, as well as cooked. Also, the lil cucumber and onion side was lovely.
