I loved the entrance and the overall vibe--it definitely gave me Tulum vibes! Our server was great and gave us some recommendations based on his favorites from the menu. He also mentioned that they have rib specials on Tuesdays, which was definitely good to know for our next visit! Now let's get into the food because everything was SO good! Starter: Wings -- A little too crispy for my preference, but the flavor was delicious! Drinks: Espresso Martini with Tequila -- 20/10! Sassy Pants -- 20/10! Entrées: Hand-Cut Filet -- 20/10 8oz hand-cut filet mignon with green peppercorn cognac cream sauce, garlic mashed potatoes, and asparagus. The small plates menu has some amazing standouts, including the saffron arancini, deviled eggs, and steak crostini. Wanted to try the burrata and fig but they were sold out for the evening - I'll just have to go back soon! The smashburger was great as an entree. The fettuccine alfredo sauce on the pasta was a bit bland, but the pasta itself was great. Server was kind and provided great menu recommendations. I recommend grabbing a reservation on their website for the outdoor booth with marina views. Went in for an early Father's Day. My husband upon getting his food noticed a small fly crawling among the noodles. Thankfully management replaced the dish immediately and was sorry for the inconvenience. But my family and I had to occasionally swat away these little flies every few minutes. The food was good, though in my opinion a little overpriced. Ambiance was slightly upscale, but most dressed casually. I personally wouldn't return unless the fly situation has been handled. This place has a really cool atmosphere, good views right on the marina, and the server was super sweet and kind. The cauliflower appetizer was super delicious and would order it again! I personally didn't enjoy the Bolognese dish- it didn't have much flavor to it, the meat they used tasted a bit weird with it and couldn't tell what it was honestly, and just felt it was overhyped. Food was fresh and cooked perfectly. Dessert well that wasn't so great we ordered a Bourbon toffee apple cake. The cake hit you with some much bourbon in the first bite it was over powering, the cake texture was mushy, and then a few more bites it was salty. We told our waitress we thought she would remove it from our bill that's a no. They have great cocktails. We got there at 5:10pm nice but after an hour so loud inside you couldn't hold a conversation. High top tables so high and crammed so close together. Mama Foo Foo was such a fun find in Daytona! The restaurant has a really cute atmosphere, beautiful views, and a great overall vibe. The food was delicious, but the drinks were what really stood out to me--they were creative, well-made, and definitely worth ordering. The service was excellent as well. Our server was incredibly knowledgeable about both the food and drink menus and was able to answer all of our questions and make great recommendations. An experience so nice, we went twice! We discovered this lovely gem on a recent stay in Daytona Beach. Our first night in town, we seemed to be striking out on restaurants that offered more than one or two items gluten free. That is, until I found the menu online for mama foo foo. I can say with confidence that Mama Foo Foo knows how to do gluten free food the right way. Our first visit was for dinner, and the ambiance was on point. Perfectly lit, short wait, cool art, and great music. The waitress was very knowledgeable about gluten free options, and even offered alternatives when she discovered that they were out of gluten free crackers for the burrata and fig. My dinner, the honey glazed scallops with lobster risotto and grilled carrots, was prepared perfectly. The staff was attentive, refilling drinks and water and checking in regularly. Price was very reasonable for the quality of food. A solid five star visit. It was so good in fact that we came back a few days later for brunch to enjoy their signature wagyu smash burger. I opted for the breakfast version (fried egg, avocado and tomato relish toppings) while my husband went with the more traditional lunch version. Again, the waiter was attentive and immediately knew to advise me that the fries were dusted with flour and offered alternatives. The grapefruit dressing on the salad was delish! The ambiance was really cool, the service was great and the food was fabulous. We started with 2 cocktails. I had a Mexican barracuda and my friend had the midnight hustle both drinks were incredible. For our meals we each got 2 appetizers. The place was laid out good clean, but you could tell that it was put together fast kinda kind of razzle food was not good. Service was very good as far as drinks. I got a few beers because their water even their ice cubes tasted like chlorine. Every beer was served in a different kind of glass. I don't know what was up with that. Y'all! This place makes going out in Daytona Beach near beach street like stepping into a Miami hot spot. My friend and I wanted treat ourselves to a culinary experience beyond the chain restaurants and pub fare that sprawl across DB, so we hit up Mama Foo Foo's Happy Hour. They did not disappoint with gorgeously crafted cocktails that rival drinks by seen or be seen nightlife menus. I tried one of their Edible Cocktails (aka Jell-O shots), which was like a tropical party punch in my mouth. I will be back to indulge in a flight next time. Foods: a wonderful mix of cultures delight both their Happy Hour menu and Main Board. Their Saffron Arancini has become one of my favorite dishes to start with. So far, I have not been disappointed by any nibbles selected during my stay. Shout out to the bar staff who not only took their time to answer any questions but made our evening fun. The "wagyu double smash burger" is smaller than a plain burger from McDonald's. It should be priced at $3 at most. It's certainly NOT an $18 plus tip burger. It was simply ridiculous. Excellent location. Cool and young vibes from decor to servers, bartenders. My cocktail (the Lip Service) was ok-to-good and properly priced. My appetizer was fabulous: Steak Tips Crostini, on a bed of horseradish and au jus. Excellent presentation and great taste. My friend got a burger but - at least from the looks - not as impressive as my choice (the crostini). I wished I have taken a pic of my crostini but I jumped on it with all my senses... and devoured it quick. On a down side... it took extremely long to have the appetizers!!! Was looking for a quick bite for dinner and some drinks and elected Mama Foo Foo. This place is a nice restaurant that doubles as a lounge/party spot. There is a large parking lot and ample space to park. I opted to sit at the bar for convenience but there is a ton of seating for dining. The service was not the best but I did manage to get my drinks without issue. I ended up having to get my burger to go. Other than the service, the drinks were great and for what it's worth, the burger really did hit the spot. Just a shame I had to enjoy it at my hotel room. The service could have been a little more on point, (we came at about 4 so they must have been going through shift change and doing there side work to leave) but thanks to the rest of the staff the food came out promptly and everything was great. The little one also ordered fried pickles (not pictured) they were fried pickles. I'm personally not a fan of them to begin with but I did find myself eating a few. We also ordered 3 desserts some chocolate mouse thing that was amazing, the not so keylime pie was awesome, and the lady took home the carrot cake. The restaurant over looks the harbor and had an amazing view, I recommend the outside seating. The music was loud but not so loud that we couldn't engage in conversation. Initial Reaction: probably the only decent restaurant in downtown Daytona Beach, Mama Foo Foo is a solid gastropub that offers so delicious dining options and refreshing cocktails. The layout has almost an Asian feel with darker ambient tones towards the front of the establishment and brighter towards the back deck where the east end of the bar is located. If you have a table by the bar, depending on the time of day, the acoustics will become deafening based on the amount of clientele situated there. When we first arrived and had a table in between the end of the bar and doorway to the outer deck, the noise levels were reasonable where you could hold a conversation. About 30 minutes into our stay, we had a group of people take the bar stools across from our table, and the sound grew louder from there, especially since the drinks were flowing. So keep that in mind if you are looking for a quieter area for a table, that is not the place, especially during peak hours. The kitchen screwed up my wife's order where she had ordered the gluten free rigatoni bolognese and they did the regular one instead. My wife who is celiac, realized this quickly and reported it to the server who made sure she had the correct order. Wasn't the server's fault as he had given the right order. Outside of that snafu, the Honey Sesame Scallops I ordered were incredibly delightful and flavorful with the risotto. The Saffron Arancini was a little too salty with the marinara but they were well fried and prepared. Cocktail-wise was very good between the gin-based 21 Again drink with coconut milk, pineapple, lime, vanilla, and aqua faba. The tequila-forward Diablo was a zesty second choice with the cassis, ginger, lime, gomme, and soda. The restaurant does deliver food wise but be careful if you are gluten free that the kitchen doesn't screw up the order. And depending on when you go, if you are looking for more quiet surroundings, make sure to be seated somewhere away from the bar closer to the front. read more

Is it at Daytona Beach for our anniversary and this restaurant was recommended by the bartenders at the autograph Daytona hotel. The restaurant is chic and modern. At 10 o'clock they have a DJ spinning the latest songs. The food was so good. We had the buffalo deviled eggs, chicken satay, short ribs and skirt steak. I learned a few years ago that you never do Valentine's Day on Feb 14th and this visit proves it. We arrived at 9 for our 9:15pm reservation but on Feb 13 and were seated at our reservation time. Our server came over immediately and started us with waters and returned to take our appetizer order. We started with the deviled eggs and tuna poke. Both outstanding! For dinner we ordered the pasta bolognese and the pan seared scallops, both recommended by our server but on our original list to try. Everything was perfect. Seasoned enough, scallops were cooked perfect and the piece of garlic bread I stole from my husband was really good as well. We ended the meal with the peanut butter cheese cake and marshmallow chocolate pudding. The service couldn't have gotten any better and all of our food was delicious! Our waiter did warn us that the night turns to a club around 10pm but was stayed and it didn't start until around 10:40 so it's not definite. The music was loud originally but you could hear the difference when they turned it up for the partying. Overall, the night couldn't have been any better! Everything was a 10/10 for me. When we first walked in I had mentioned to my husband that I was a little nervous as it was the night before Valentine's Day but there was barely anyone in the place. Our server ended up informing us that they allowed 600 reservations for Valentines night and he's happy we chose another night so he could give his best service and attention. All the food has been great so far but the wait time has been crazy long and awful. Been to busier places with the food arriving faster. Our waiter is nice but barely checks in and forgets to bring things we ask for which sucks. Another problem is that they are out of everything and also can't make cocktails with different ingredients. It sucks being told no when you are in a restaurant with an open bar. If I were to come back to this area this place would definitely not be on my list. Such a disappointment. This place is in such a great location at the marina and the atmosphere is so cool, but something is a bit off. The bartender we came across here was just not that into it. It was happy hour on Friday evening, which should draw a good crowd, but, nope. It. Was. Dead. For one their happy hour rule, per the not at all enthusiastic bartender, is at the bar in backless uncomfortable metal barstoolss. Not even the ridiculously spartan uncomfortable high top booths( just a wood bench, no cushions) get happy hour pricing. Want a somewhat comfortable seat? Full price for you. Here's an idea, the whole bar area gets happy hour pricing and you might actually have people in there. Okay done with the rant now. The server, Santiago, was sweet, knowledgable and efficient. The food was okay, but tiny portions for the price. The ahi app was good, as was the burger. The wings were tasty, but a nightmare to eat-super messy! The menu is small but offers some great choices. We've tried different items on each visit and haven't been disappointed in anything we tried. We did however find the Smash burger was overwhelmed by the sauce so much so that we couldn't taste the burger. When we mentioned this to Kate she offered to remake the burger without the sauce. Overall, we had a great experience and will absolutely be back. The atmosphere was awesome, the food was amazing, and it's easy to see why this restaurant is so popular. The only reason I'm leaving 4 stars instead of 5 is because of our initial interaction with the hostess. We arrived about 10 minutes early for reservations that I had made online two weeks in advance. We were told that we wouldn't be seated at our reserved time because another party had arrived late for their reservation and they were being given priority. While I understand that restaurants have to make accommodations from time to time, it was surprising to hear that explanation. It didn't seem like the best solution was to change the plans of guests who arrived on time--and even early--for a reservation they had planned well in advance. Fortunately, a second hostess stepped in, handled the situation professionally, and resolved everything quickly. She turned what could have been a frustrating start into a positive experience. This is intended more as feedback for management than a complaint. The quality of the restaurant, food, and overall experience was excellent. I simply think there's an opportunity to improve how reservation conflicts are handled and, more importantly, how they're communicated to guests. A little more tact and a better process would go a long way. We'll definitely be back for the outstanding food and atmosphere. read more

My wife and I came a couple of months ago to Mama Foo Foo to celebrate her birthday, and this was our experience. A lot of the reviews mentioned this being a great place to eat and take aesthetic photos. Upon entering, the restaurant was nicely dimmed, with soft EDM music playing in the background. I was very impressed with the style and atmosphere of Mama Foo Foo--9/10. Our server was very nice and gave us great recommendations for both our appetizers and entrées. Appetizers: The Saffron Arancini, made with arborio rice, fontina cheese, marinara, and parmesan, was definitely a great start to our night. It was soft yet tender, and the amount of marinara sauce inside was perfect--10/10. The Burrata & Fig, made with burrata cheese, house-made fig jam, sourdough, and basil, was iconic. The in-house fig jam was perfect. I wish I could take it home with me. The bread was toasted to perfection. This is a must-have appetizer--10/10. Entrées: I had the Wagyu Double Smash Burger. It was made with American wagyu beef, cheddar, bacon tomato jam, shredded lettuce, pickles, onions, and French fries. As far as smash burgers go, this was very underwhelming. The patties themselves didn't look smashed at all. The taste felt very bland. The fact that it was made with wagyu beef intrigued me enough to order; however, it was not worth it--5/10. My wife got the Rigatoni Bolognese. It was made with slow-cooked house beef bolognese, whipped ricotta, basil, and garlic bread. I took a few bites of this, but it wasn't to my liking. It felt like I ordered regular pasta and beef. -- 6/10 Overall: Mama Foo Foo's ambiance really impressed me with its beautiful architecture, cool music, and very tasteful small plates. We went on a Thursday evening (5:30pm) and seemed to be very slow as only about 3-4 tables were occupied. Which had me concerned. Ordered the Atlantic Cod fish & chips, and it was the best I've had in the area! The steak filet crostini was loaded with the steak tips, very tender and great flavor. Very nice views overlooking the marina. Service was pretty slow, but we were not in a rush, so that didn't have any effect on my ratings. First I want to highlight our server/waiter - Joshua - he was absolutely incredible handling our group. He was a true professional, engaging and truly a pleasure! This was the second time that I have brought a large group (10+) to MFF and the food did not disappoint. Between the craft cocktails and mocktails, there is something for everyone. It is a place that is great for smaller dining parties; larger parties beware-beware-beware. However, our dining experience arrived when the check came. We politely asked to split the bill after mentioning we would need that done prior to putting in any orders. After some back and fourth a woman came out (assuming she was the GM or manager of the evening) and asked, arms spread, "WHO IS IN CHARGE OF THE TABLE!?". The entire table was taken aback by how that question was asked, because now she garnished everyone's attention. My coworker said, "that would be me". Immediately, without hesitation the woman shouted at her "WE DO NOT SPLIT CHECKS AND YOU SHOULD HAVE SEEN THAT WHEN YOU BOOKED IT AND IT'S ON OUR WEBSITE!!!" Truth be told it's not on the website and after doing research it is VERY hidden on the third party booking site. Her overall professionalism was incredibly lacking. We felt pointed out and embarrassed in the middle of figuring out the bill. Our dining experience leading up to that, was diminished in a few short seconds. As someone who is in town 2-3 times a year and comes to MFF with a large group each time, this is the first and last time someone is going to treat me any my people that way. Sadly, the next time I come back to the area, before booking, I will be calling to ensure she is not working there anymore.
