We decided to go to State Street Grille previously was Southside Grille. We wanted the outdoor atmosphere but rain was in the area so we got our table in the screened covered dining area, best decision! We noticed they had brightened it up, new tables and chairs with a breeze that was so lovely. Our server Tonda was great!!! She took our drink order which was a bottle of Cabernet Sauvignon. She let us know the specials and was very knowledgeable. We placed our order when she brought out our wine. Both my husband and I ordered the prime rib rare, king cut for him queen for me which comes with baked potato and season vegetables. The prime rib was delicious and perfect rare, baked potatoes were served with butter and sour cream very good too! We had such a relaxing dinner and great service!! We came for Prime Rib night., after reading about it in a local magazine. The service was fast and friendly, the food was great. We sat in the bar but we could have easily gotten a table at 5pm on a Thursday. But by 6pm when we left, every table was full. The prime rib - I asked for the rarest piece and it did have some pink to it. I like the horseradish sauce that came with it and also with the fried mushrooms. The fried mushrooms were also good and plentiful. Not the absolute best ones I've ever had, but I order them everywhere. They were very good and fresh too. Hubby got the ribs, small order. He almost finished them, 1 left. We both liked that the BBQ sauce wasn't too sweet. These ribs are helping to make a St. Louis style ribs person of him. (Usually he is a baby back only guy). The baked potato was really good, with salt on the outside. The vegetables were watery frozen ones. Given the high quality of the rest of the food, that was a disappointment. Yelp is asking me about ambience. This place is sort of like a diner with a decent sized bar in front. The tables and chairs looked to be in good repair. There is a choice of booth, high top and regular seating. Southside does not have happy hour but the prices are low to begin with. read more

This was our second time visiting this restaurant and I think this will become a regular stop for us. The ambiance is very casual and comfortable. The service was top notch. Wish I had gotten the waitress's name as she was very good, friendly and attentive. The food was fantastic. I got a cheeseburger with baked potatoes instead of fries. The burger was cooked well and to my liking and it was very tasty and juicy. The potato was just as good. My husband got the meatloaf dinner and he said it was wonderful. I did taste his meatloaf and I have to say it was so tasty and moist that I might get it next time. Can't wait to go back and try some other dishes as well. They have a surprisingly varied menu. Oh I almost forgot to mention that we got the apple cobbler for dessert and it was fantastic. Warm and sweet, served with a healthy portion of vanilla ice cream. read more

Everything about our visit to Southside Grille was amazing! This place is owned by a young husband and wife, she serves and he cooks! Their Moms are the servers, and their daughter was bussing tables and refilling drinks and such...and she was there as a patron that day! What a great and friendly crew! The food was outstanding! The app of the day was potato cakes, so we expected the usual frozen type of potato pancakes, but these were made from mashed potatoes and then grilled crispy, topped with bacon and cheese. They were really unique and delicious! The menu is wonderful with so many good options, so it made settling on one thing difficult! We split two sandwiches: Philly Cheesesteak and a Blackened Prime Rib sandwich. Both were fantastic, and we really liked that the buns were toasted or grilled. The meat was soooo tender and flavorful! The fries were really crunchy and perfectly seasoned! Beer and wine are available, and then normal sodas and such. The atmosphere is clean and fun. Lots of first responder, law enforcement, and military patches/stickers all over. Parking was pretty easy, and they were super busy that day! We stumbled onto Southside Grille because it was Bike Week, and we are thrilled that we did! This is a don't miss it place! Can't wait to go back! read more

I was out for a ride on my new (to me) motorcycle, and had already gone through the beach to see some of the sights after the hurricanes had come through. Bunnell was on the way home, but I knew of a couple of places along the way that I might be able to stop at and grab a bite to eat. However, I had never been to Southside Grill. It is an unassuming place by the side of the road on the outskirts of town, and you really can easily miss it if you aren't looking hard enough. Pulling in, there was a reasonable amount of parking available. I am sure they get quite a bit of weekend traffic from bikers and the like, but this was a weekday, and the only folks there looked like they were on their way home from a round of golf or something. I chose to eat out on the patio, which is a nice screened-in area on the North side of the building. The inside area which would be air conditioned had a solid diner feel to it, and was kind of dark. I like to read when I am out on my own and having a bite to eat, so having some light is pretty much mandatory... Fortunately the porch had just the right thing for me! Looking over the menu, I found it was what I would call the typical sports bar menu. Burgers, a steak or two, and a couple of other things along with the standard bar-fare appetizers. I went for the fish and chips, as that is a bit of an outlier. It didn't take long for the food to arrive at my table, so no issues there. The fish was excellent. Good flakiness, cooked properly, all the goodness. The fries were... well, they were kind of sad. Limp when they got to me, so a bit under-done which means they were rushed for some reason. Probably a bit of a time management issue in the kitchen. Finished my meal, paid up the bill, and left with a full stomach on the road, traveling along the dead straight highway of US-100 to Palatka and beyond. read more

First time at this new location since they moved. As soon as we walked in we were greeted an able to sit anywhere we wanted. Once we sat our server cam a took our drink order. The place was cute and clean with a lot of seating. our drinks came right away and we placed our order and the food came out in the timely manner. All the food we had was great. Perfectly cooked and yummy. The service was perfect. We never locked for anything. Our drinks were always full and we were always asked if everything was OK. Highly recommend going there and trying the food. It's great. read more

Excellent food in a casual setting. I admit I was hesitant when I saw this little roadside spot next to an old motel-turned-veterinary clinic. But inside, it was great. Very friendly service and really good food!! I had the blackened mahi wrap. Yum!! And so huge, the other half will make another meal. My husband had fish & chips. He substituted the fries with onion rings, which were big rings and very crunchy. Again , YUM! The meal for 2 was quite reasonably priced, too. Highly recommend this little gem! read more

Great friendly service and delicious food! We have been twice and both times were very good! They have lots of beers on tap and really good appetizers. It's on the smaller side, but they also have a large outside seating area. We had the steak tips, french dip and kids chicken-grilled. Everything was good, but my meal was the best and would definitely order again! The Ribs!!! They really have amazing BBQ here. It was so good that everyone was wanting my ribs! I think with sauce like this they should do a BBQ on special days of the week. The ribs were tender with that perfect pull off the bone bite. Some places overcook ribs and the meat just falls off, but they had a perfect pull off the bone bite. They also cater to vets and offered a discount, which is beyond kind! It is so great to walk in a small local business, (veteran owned) where they are happy you are there! It is, in the best way possible, a true hole in the wall! It's cute and cozy, the tables are hopping, and the locals are frequent flyers . You instantly feel right at home. The menu is FULL!! Many options. Many fish options, true daily specials, only 1 downfall... the cook is a little heavy on oil, butter, on items so they are a bit greasy if it's a handheld item, but it doesn't take away from the taste. Three of us ate lunch at Southside Grill for lunch - my husband, a friend, and me. Service was friendly and prompt. Restaurant was clean and spacious. Food was yummy! I had the Mahi Tacos - three LARGE tacos, full of fish and very good. Our friend enjoyed his cheeseburger, as did my husband with his open-face meatball sandwich. We left full and happy! read more

One and done. Couldn't even eat my buffalo wrap due to the rock I bit down on. Seriously, a rock. A tiny little pebble, about 1/4 the size of a large acorn. I could've broken my freaking tooth. So first impression walking through the door, typical hole in the wall place, but the menu looked good. We were told to sit wherever and an old biker type lady was our server. We were served our food, took kinda long, but whatever. Food comes, my girlfriend's hot wings have the wrong sauce, were slimy and fatty, sweet tea tastes like cardboard, and there's a freaking rock in my wrap. When our waitress finally comes over, I show her the rock, and she basically just takes it, my wrap, and walks away. No apology, no "oh would you like something else", no offer of taking it off my bill, just walks away with an accusatory attitude like I ruined my lunch on purpose. So happy we are just minutes away from this absolutely fantastic restaurant!! It is a simple looking place inside and out but the food is amazing. Ate lunch there today with my husband and dear friend, Emilie. We started off with the Smoked Fish dip which came with a large array of condiments. Delish. Then Emilie ordered the Po' Boy sandwich, Mark the Mahi tacos and I the Blackened Prime Rib sandwich with grilled onions. All wonderful!! My prime rib melted in my mouth. And so much food. Man was this place packed Saturday. Was hankering for some prime rib, and heard they had it, so we went in. Not sure if that was what brought everyone in, but we got there right before the wait started. Greeted by Amanda who was really friendly. I ordered the king cut of prime medium rare and it was HUGE, MINIMUM of 16oz is my guess. My companions ordered the special and the beef tips. All the dishes looked great, but I only took a picture of mine. 2 times out of 2 visits this place has been a winner. read more

We had to make a pit stop before driving into St. Augustine. We took the scenic route from the Turnpike because GPS said it would take us 4 hours and a half to get to St. Augustine. We got there and the place was full of cars. The best friendly service was found in the middle of a vast place. The mahi tacos were seasoned just right. Hearing the crowd greet each other we knew we were in a place for the locals. We felt at home. Now we know where to stop on the next drive up. read more

My favorite restaurant in Bunnell! Prime rib on the weekends is a nice treat. Hamburgers are big. But my favorite is the thick-shaved prime-rib French Dip. It is the best French Dip I have ever eaten. Kudos to the owner-chef. He is also a veteran, and gives 10% off to all veterans, which is a very nice gesture. The ambiance is casual small town diner. The place was fairly tidy but upon close look was dusty and it looked like they used dirty waste water to clean the floors. Music was way too loud for a conversation between two people.
