This cafe was located in a quaint European style village near the marina in Palm Coast. It was a nice atmosphere outside and very clean restrooms. My husband had the French Dip. He said it was the best one he's ever had. I ordered the appetizer Ahi Tuna. It was not sushi grade. It was tough and not sushi grade. The blueberry teriyaki glaze was a nice touch. Disappointing decline after years as a loyal customer This place has really gone downhill since I moved to the Village. The food is still okay, but service has become consistently slow and the prices no longer match the experience. The front-of-house staff often seem overwhelmed, and interactions can come across as rude or dismissive. Unfortunately, management isn't much better--there's a clear lack of customer service and communication. On our most recent visit, my son and I were seated at the bar and had already ordered food. Two people we knew joined us briefly, and the manager immediately told them they had to leave due to a waitlist--despite the bartender previously saying it was first-come, first-served. The situation was handled poorly and unnecessarily awkward. At that point, we canceled our food, paid for our drinks, and left. After being a regular for five years, it's disappointing to feel like loyal customers no longer matter. It seems the focus has shifted more toward short-term traffic than consistent local support. We popped into Turtle Shack for an easy Saturday night dinner, and it ended up being one of those "mostly good, one miss" meals -- which happens, even at spots we enjoy. Daniel ordered the evening special, a Stir-Fry ($25), and unfortunately it just didn't deliver. It was very rice-heavy with only a small amount of meat and veggies, so the portion didn't feel worth the price. The Thai-style sauce had an off flavor, and as he ate, a faint burnt taste came through -- almost like the bottom of the pan had scorched and the flavor carried through the dish. Not terrible, just disappointing. Daniel said he'll stick to the dishes he already knows and likes here. Ella stayed loyal to her usual Turtle Shack Chicken Sandwich ($17). She's picky, and this is the one menu item she consistently enjoys under $20, so it remains her go-to. I ordered the Bacon & Blue Chips (about $14), which were still a win. Shareable portion, plenty of blue cheese, and that balsamic drizzle is chef's kiss. Easily the highlight of the night. Service was casual but attentive, which fits the vibe. Even on a busy Saturday evening, we were seated right away. The relaxed outdoor atmosphere was ideal for dinner with our 14-lb Maltipoo. They do have indoor seating, but we've always chosen outside -- the weather and courtyard energy make it an easy yes. Live music in the center of the Village added a nice touch. Parking at European Village is usually easy, but expect a short walk. You can drop off closer if needed, but one way or another, plan on a little stroll into the courtyard and to whichever spot you choose. We've been here many times and we'll keep coming back -- it's the kind of casual place where even your dog settles in like a local. Just maybe skip the stir-fry special next time. And if you haven't explored European Village itself, it's worth the wander: American, Indian, Italian, and Japanese/Sushi options, plus boutiques (clothing, jewelry, art), bars, and even a cigar lounge. read more

We just stopped for a snack .. had a beer ( which due to their extensive list took awhile) and we ordered the smoked wings & calamari! Both were excellent !! The grouper sandwich was delicious. A really nice piece of fish, cooked perfectly. I'm so happy it did not come back overcooked, as is far too common elsewhere. I had it blackened. I'm used to it being much more blackened. But I was happy that I was able to appreciate this delicious fish, without too much seasoning. The fries were way above average with a nice seasoning and perfect texture. My wife had the seared ahi tuna tacos. She also had the grouper and crab soup. She really enjoyed them and said she'd order them again. My wife had the a basil drink special. She said it was excellent. The bartender seems to take pride in his work. The waitress was very nice and was helpful. I would definitely order the grouper sandwich again, but I think I'll ask for it with extra blackened seasoning. We will also come back for the outing prime rib, our waitress advised us that it becomes available starting around 4:30 pm. read more

They have now opened a temporary location at the European Village next to the 5th Element Indian Restaurant in Palm Coast. I think there used to be a distillery there. This location will be open until the repairs are completed at the original location on Flagler Beach and may even become a 2nd location. My wife and I had dinner at the Turtle Shack in the European Village in Palm Coast FL the other evening. A few details why I give a 4 star rating. The picture attached should explain the first reason. Our food was out of this world good. Wifey had the blackened Mahi sandwich. Perfect cook on the fish and the seasoning was nice a spicy. I had their signature chicken sandwich. Loved it, love their coleslaw too !!!! Second reason for the 4 stars was our server/bartender Teresa. She was very busy but, very attentive !!!! Very good at her craft !!! Why not 5 stars then ????? We thought $13 for a glass of house wine was a bit much. Especially in our area. I so wanted to like this place after reading other Yelp reviews, but everything was SO lackluster from the service and ambiance to the below average food. First off this place is in rundown "European village" that looks like a sloppy attempt to be a cute "Disney Springs or Downtown Disney-esque" village of failed shops and restaurants. There is absolutely no ambiance. We started with the artichoke dip topped with crab- absolutely pathetic. Think Walmart jarred dip and worse than Tostitos chips. Then we moved on to burgers which claim to be their thing. All came out over or under cooked, my bacon was cold and when asked for new hot bacon, it was obviously microwaved and sent back out. Absentee management. Been several times but wasn't able to dine on multiple occasions. They don't have enough staff (or can't get), so they only allow a handful of patrons to be seated. Off the charts food and service! We enjoyed the onion rings, which were large and plentiful! Made fresh too. I indulged in a cup of the grouper and crab bisque. Very tasty with lots of crab and grouper. The creamy broth was ideal. Hubby had the burger. Done just the way he likes it...medium rare. Ample size (for a small burger) and had sweet potato fries. We are taking a box home to further enjoy the fries and rings. Service attentive and knowledgeable. What an atmosphere here! Definitely a repeat. Fortunately, we asked for a seat outside as it was hot and humid inside. Sadly the beer was not very cold Once we were seated outside, we had a friendly waitress. Appetizer Sautéed Pierogi... could have been good. But it was cold and underwhelming . I had the Buffalo chicken sandwich with French fries. We had the fish and chips and a blackened grouper - both were great. Plenty of turtle art on the wall for sale as well. The soft seats inside do not have much seat support so you may feel like you are falling through. Went on vacation and got this to go. So I can't say much about the location or service. We really enjoyed our food. Great flavor and well cooked! My dad got the burger and he thoroughly enjoyed it! Love Turtle Shack! This is one of the first places that I tried in Flagler that had the best flavorful food! I was so upset when I heard the original location burned down, but the new location in European Village is so cute and cozy! The atmosphere is lovely and it feels like everyone is family here. The hamburger in the photo I purposely ordered plain with no extra's on it to actually taste the flavor. It was prepared perfectly to medium rare and was juicy and very flavorful. Heard great things but fell flat. Maybe the old location/atmosphere near the beach made it a whole experience...now it's just food.

Tonight we decided to try Turtle Shack at the European Village in Palm Coast. When we got there at 5pm there was already a 30 minute wait for seating indoors, luckily we wanted to eat outside so we were seated immediately. Our server Willem greeted us and asked what we wanted to order. We were under the impression that they had a full bar but they only serve beer and wine. My husband ordered a Stella and I ordered a White Claw Mango, we also ordered our dinners since they were so busy. Husband ordered a Sweet Hot Burger with fries and I ordered a Swiss cheese burger with onion rings (which is $2.50 extra). Both of our burgers were very good, both ordered medium-rare burger which it was and had a great crust on them. My husband really liked his fries and my onion rings were delicious, they had a wonderful crunch with every bite. The atmosphere is great, watching the small kids playing and weekends they have live music on center stage. Since this was recently opened, they were busy and I'm sure it will clam and go more smoothly in time. We will try again and hopefully they will have a full bar next time. read more

Wow! Went to Turtle Shack in European Village last night and absolutely loved it. Had triggerfish tacos which were probably the best I've had in years. Their included side dishes are awesome as well especially the cilantro rice. Great selection of draft beers too. They also had a fantastic acoustic guitarist playing and the overall atmosphere and vibe was amazing. The service was awesome and quick as well with a large crowd of customer. The bar area was packed but still got our drinks quickly before being seated at our table. Lots of tables inside along with great seating outside as well. We will definitely be putting this restaurant in our rotation of great restaurants to choose in our area. read more

We arrived at 6:15, got seated right away, even though it was busy. We got drinks at 6:30pm. No bread. So imagine waiting over an HOUR with an 8yo child for your food. The server's response "we're busy - nothing I can do about it.". i mentioned I was light headed after alcohol and no food - no offer of bread. Had to ask for water. 7:40pm food arrives. We both ordered seared aho tuna. The searing was done, but the tuna had sat out so long, the seared exterior was room temperature!!! The sides were piping hot. So how long had those tina steaks sat out to get cold on the seared exterior?? The server offered to hear up both portions. A few minutes later she plunked down the now totally stir-fried and ruined ahi steaks, cooked through. My mashed potatoes were gone, so were the garnishes. It was just a pile of brown lumps. Inedible. To their credit they comped the meal but it was an entirely unpleasant experience - being busy is what restaurants should expect, not an excuse for slow service and cold entrees. read more

Our Book Club went there for our monthly meeting. They put us off to the side and we were able to hear each other. There are 7 of us. I had their Reuben sandwich and sweet potato puffs, excellent. Others had the Cob Salad and Burger and they were very pleased. We are going back next month. Good service for a big table. read more

Two Sundays ago in the early afternoon and the place is packed. This isn't surprising since it's a beautiful day and everyone was out and about. We picked coming here since the walk/drive from our rental was beyond close. Let's cut right to the chase: Chips and Salsa - Never got it. C & S was ordered right after we sat down and then we inquired again when the entrees came and out and our server (we'll call him Jr.) said he forgot about it but that he would take care of it. Thankfully we never got billed for it, but even after asking twice, we still never got it. Clam Chowder - Everything about it was fantastic as you would expect it to be at a seafood centric place on the ocean. Prime Time Burger - Not good at all. The burgers come in two sizes and the smaller one is fairly hefty. I can't imagine the larger size. It must look like a Curling Stone. The issue is that the thing was overly messy. The bottom bun was already soaked through and falling apart by the time the plate hit the table and the aftertaste was...oily. The accompanying fries were lukewarm at best. Shrimp with Cilantro Lime Linguini - Excellent flavor on this one. The only issue was that it comes with too much of the cream sauce. Everything on the plate was swimming and Jr. didn't know that you could substitute the chicken the dish comes with for shrimp per the menu. Ahi Tuna Tacos - Probably the best thing that was rendered. Perfect look, texture and flavor on the tuna. Overall, I guess a bit of this is on us for ordering the "wrong things" and as I mentioned prior, the restaurant was beyond busy. But with that said, our server seemed very green like he didn't have a clue and the food was all over the place from very good to why did this leave the kitchen. I get it. We all have our off days and for Turtle Shack, the day we visited was just that, an off day. If in town again though, it was good enough for a second try. read more

Really nice atmosphere at the European Village. It is a shame the food does not come close to being as appealing. My burger was way overcooked with scorched bottom and tasted like it was an older patty re-warmed. The burger included shaved prime rib but was not fresh at all with a cheese melted over all this. The accompanying fries were room temperature and again tasted like they were not freshly cooked. What a shame for owners to serve low, low quality food and not think twice and charge $ 20 for a cheeseburger/fries meal.
