First time trying Vessel today with a friend. We stopped in around 1:30 and the place was steady with customers (always a good sign!). You order at the counter, and the young lady helping us was super nice and very helpful. I grabbed a canned soda, but learned they have tea with free refills--definitely trying that next time. She even offered a cup of ice for my soda, which was thoughtful. Since they're on the beach side, straws are paper. For food, I had the tomato bisque soup--great presentation and nice flavor, though I personally would have loved it a bit creamier. I also tried the goat cheese crostini. The flavor was good, but it was served on a basic toast. I think it would really pop on a sturdier, toasted bread for a better texture contrast with the creamy goat cheese. The space itself is simple and beachy. They have about 7-8 tables, with bench seating on one side and chairs on the other. Heads up: no padding, so if you're like some of my family, you may want to bring a cushion (LOL). We didn't feel rushed at all even though they close at 3pm, and it was nice to enjoy our meal and conversation without feeling hurried. Parking can be tricky in this area, but we found a spot across the street and walked over. All in all, Vessel makes for a pleasant, casual spot for lunch. Vessel sandwich is a hidden locals gem. Came here recommend by a local ... this is one of those places that you will not find unless you're looking for it. Hidden in a small shopping center on a one way back street. Definitely worth the effort. Plenty parking spaces and a nice outdoor seating space outside the restaurant. We ordered an avocado toast which was so good. Fresh tomatoes and avocado slices on top of a toasted bread with a drizzle of oil and like a vinegar reduction. Very good. The veggie wrap with chicken also very good.... ingredients are so fresh and the sauces are all home made that makes a huge difference. And last but not least was the pork belly Banh mi. Pickled veggies and pork belly inside a magnificent French like type of bread with again a delicious home made sauce and topped with cilantro and added syracha for a kick.... delicious, simply delicious. Docking a star due to the horrific ventilation system. Every time we go there it smells and my eyes burn from all the cooking and lack of ventilation; you leave with your clothes reeking. Food is still great but won't be coming here unless it's nice out for outdoor seating.. read more

I drove over to Flagler Beach from Gainesville to reach the beach!! Success! As I was leaving town, I wanted something delicious and light! I opened up my Yelp, looked around, and I picked this place, because it was not a chain and the menu looked like somebody behind the counter was thinking when they made it! The server kindly took my order, and I love places like this because they are smalll enough to be polite and sincere at the same time. Instead of the latter without the former! The lavender tea was very nice! It is an unassuming place with a bench with small tables going down the wall and a few stools in the front looking out the window. Two patrons are sittting at the bar talking to the server as she wraps up her day. (They close at 4pm today) One of the cooks comes over and interrupts their conversation and make them laugh. Thank-yous bounce around in the air. I saw two nice briskets go into a slow-bake oven. On the side rack, cans of diced tomatoes and red peppers are flanked by the largest tub of Nutella I've ever seen! I wonder what they make with that!!? The food is well thought out, creative and delicious! Probably the best veggie wrap I have ever eaten. Crazy flavorful!! Look at the ingredients!! Even the whole wheat wrap was warm. Nice touch! Cute little sandwich shop in the heart of Flagler Beach!! The best grilled cheese sandwich!!! Made with aged cheddar, fontina and apple apricot mostarda (basically this amazing jelly spread). It is warm and gooey, the bread is perfect! The staff is friendly and is conveniently located right across from the beach. I have to give this place a shout out. Nestled in right off the Main Street, this is arguably the best local spot in Flagler Beach. Where to begin? Let's start with quality of food. Everything here is fresh. When I say fresh, I mean it is profoundly the freshest food I've had at any place I've been to and I travel, internationally often. I highly recommend the grilled cheese with a vessel salad. It's delicious. To note: the lemonade here.... I'd drink a gallon. The staff here. Well... they're family (literally). When you walk in you feel that presence and warm and welcoming atmosphere. We are considering living here! We decided to order and pick up a take out due to the Caronavirus. Our food was ready at time we arri and was a delicious an hour later as it would have been eating it there! The Vessel and kale salads are scrumptious as well as the po' boy shrimp and pork belly sandwiches. To top it off we bought their tasty chocolate chip cookies. Wow, this place is great! Every menu item is tastier than the last. Super fresh ingredients, super inventive combinations... Don't miss the kale salad; it tastes like a preserved lemon simply liquefied over bright fresh green kale and toasty (but not too hard) croutons! The shrimp roll was phenomenal as well-- really light and just buttery enough. I loved the creamy cauliflower soup too-- though it could have used just a dash of salt. Vessel is what you hope every sandwich place will be but never is. About 10 sandwiches on the menu consisting of diverse flavors such that it's hard to choose but not terribly hard because there aren't too many choices. I had the brisket sloppy joe. Every part of it was amazing. The brisket was obviously slow cooked, the flavor saturated throughout every bite. The cheddar cheese was sharp which allowed it to compliment the barbecue sauce and the brioche roll was soft but crunchy at the slice for being toasted or griddled. It came with a side of coleslaw which was the more mild variety and I dumped it right on my sandwich and ate it all with a fork. I also had a house shandy which was absolutely perfect and I'd heartily recommend even to people who don't like beer. I was recommended to Vessel by the folks at Swillerbees and they weren't wrong. Wow! That's all I can say after biting into their Shrimp Po' Boy. Large crispy fried shrimp, fresh bread and delicious prosciutto made the perfect combination. My wife got the Smoked Chicken Sandwich that had amazing house made pickles and a white BBQ sauce that made this sandwich over the top! I wish we had one of these sandwich shops back home. The staff took COVID-19 precautions with constant sanitation and masks. We saw all the great reviews for Vessel on line and could not wait till we tried it. We got takeout yesterday, and we were kind of disappointed. I had the shrimp po boy and it was dry, my husband got the pork belly and he did not not like it, and there was not much pork at all. My mom got the grilled cheese and said it didn't have much flavor. My daughter got the vessel salad and said it was good . Best part was the chocolate chip cookies , but, they were 1.50 each! Just thought that was a little expensive for regular size cookies. Sorry vessel, but, I don't think we will be coming back any time soon. read more

This place is reason enough to visit Flagler Beach! We stopped in for lunch and ordered the Avo Toast (a guacamole meets bruschetta combo), a shrimp po boy and a unique take on a Vietnamese bahn-mei. The shrimp were fresh and came with a home made garlic aioli on a brilliant French bread. Rather than the traditional pate and cold cuts this bahn-mei came with a crispy pork belly; lots of fresh daikon, carrots and cilantro topped it off. AWESOME. Worth mentioning was the ice tea that was fresh brewed and you can really taste the difference. The staff and service were friendly and made us so welcome. read more

Ridiculously good sandwich shop! This is what you would want to own, if you owned a sandwich shop! And yet I had a salad- but it was the Kale salad with Chicken Feathers! I had seen recommendations on Yelp for the Kale and felt I had to try it. Now I can't stop thinking about this and how good it was!! And there were so many other items I wanted but glad to have the salad and feathers... kale was perfectly fresh and the dressing was sublime! Feathers were spicy and tender and I want to figure out how to make these myself!!! Some great other ideas included brisket sloppy joes, but it will have to wait for another time. If I could get back to this little hole in the wall restaurant in a cool old school style Florida town... I'd be there in a "New York" minute. read more

I've been to Vessel for the first time within the last month, and we went back again it was so good! Our priority during COVID-19 is supporting local restaurants who are taking precautions and Vessel has been great at allowing us to order and pay over the phone and do curbside pickup and recommending masks. We've had the clam chowder (Minorcan style-red), Kale salad, house salad for starters and for sandwiches we've had the Bahn mi, shrimp po boy, ham and peppers, grown up grilled cheese and the veggie wrap with bags of chips. We usually order a lemonade and a lavender iced tea as well. Our favorites are the kale salad, the chowder and the shrimp po boy. The bread on the sandwiches is always great. My only suggestions would be that the po boy had a remoulade sauce and a turkey sandwich option because I'm basic lol but aside from that everything is very tasty! Also being able to order online would be great but I understand the complications. The people that work there are always super friendly and accommodating. We love it! read more
