Gotta start with that truly made us feel valued. When you walk in, you can tell this as a family owned establishment by the atmosphere. That is exactly what we were looking - something local owned and preferably family owned. When you walk in, you're made to feel like Family, and that is excellent! The food wow the portions are humongous. I have to start with that. You definitely will not leave here hungry! The corn beef was fresh. I wished it had more onion and some bell pepper, but it was still great. I sampled the chicken salad and that was out of this world and the hamburger looked fantastic. As we were leaving, they had just put out muffins and cinnamon rolls. What a tremendous tease! Here it is Passover so I cannot have it and pistachio muffins are my favorite and they looked phenomenal. I was so tempted to break Passover so early for the looks of that muffin, but I knew it was a test that I had to pass. That was not easy! This was definitely worth the drive and the value for the dollar! Steve's used to be one of our favorite go to places near Daytona beach. This time was disappointing to say the least. Our server was at the best disinterested that we were there. We sat with empty coffee cups until asking for more coffee, then disappeared again until we walked to the front and asked to pay our bill and the other waitress went to find her. I love Steve's on Atlantic Avenue, they give you a good amount of food for the prices. My favorite, every time I go in, until 2:00 p.m.,, is the shrimp and cheese grits. The shrimps are giant and plentiful, and are absolutely great. I've had dinner here before, and it seems to be like home cooking along with their fresh baked breads they make daily. I got the french toast made with there Steve's famous bread 4 thick slices. My Dad got the chicken parm a very healthy serving size. I get that it's bike week. I rode down to Beachside to see Jeep week and I thought I'd stop and have some fish and chips at Steve's. The place was full. There were two tables that people had just left. I've been standing there probably for 10 or 15 minutes and nobody came out and then this white couple comes up and they're standing there. I'm in front of them. The dogs are in the bike outside and so I'm waiting. I knew what I wanted. I had the menu in my hand. The lady finally walked up there and walked in and says oh let me see all these people and I'll get back to you. I told her I just wanna order something to go and she said well yeah let me just see everybody and I said " I was here first" and she proceeded to tell me she was going to seat everybody so I walked out. The food might be good but putting me last after I was there first. Nope, they lost a good customer. I bring friends when a place is good. And we all tip well. read more

Man-o-man this is my kind of diner! It has a great hometown feel, you get a lot for your money, the staff are attentive and friendly, and most if not all the food is made right here in the restaurant; excellent! The food overload begins the moment you walk in the door. Staff just finished baking a slew of scones, muffins, and cookies that filled the dining room air with a delicious, freshly baked, sweet aroma. Upon entering you will find a display case with a variety of delicious cakes and pies to close out your meal or to take-home for later. We were promptly seated by server Donna L.; she was awesome and took great care of us. We explained to her this was our first time here and she took the time to go over several of the menu items for us. We decided on two dinner specials which comes with a choice of soup and homemade bread. Donna delivered our soup and bread a few minutes after placing our order. There are two soup options available so we picked one of each, the Beef Barley and Creamy Lemon Chicken. Both were excellent, yet we both agreed the Creamy Lemon Chicken was our favorite. The Bread is on another level and is amazing! It's a freshly made and warmed white bread but the slices are huge and thick, biggest I have ever been served. I slathered warmed butter all over mine and seasoned it with salt and pepper before dunking it in the soup. It was a major win coming here just for this bread and soup, I might just have this as my meal next time, damn!! When our meals arrived, I knew that there was no way I was going to finish it in one sitting. Could I have done it? Yes, but I wouldn't have made it to the Bandshell to see the American Stones without my insulin overload putting me down for the count first. Nancy chose the Roasted Turkey and Dressing ($15), which is basically like Thanksgiving dinner. I chose the Yankee Pot Roast ($14). Both options came with mashed potatoes and green beans. The food was delicious, hot, and exactly what a homestyle diner meal should be. Lots of mashed potatoes, green beans, meat, and gravy, no skimping here. We saved room for dessert, went with Donna's recommendation and chose the Chocolate Cream Pie ($7) to share. It was a large slice, very chocolaty, creamy, and delicious. I would definitely order this next go-around. The two meals and a slice of pie came to a total of $40.96 minus tip, which isn't bad for all the food we received. Yes, we might be able to get more at a buffet, but it won't be from scratch like it is here. The only thing that's probably 100% from scratch is the mashed potatoes and gravies. I could be wrong but I swear I could taste potato peal instant potato mix in with the mashed potatoes. I seen skins, so I know some of it was real, but I have seen where restaurants use a mix of the two to make them creamier. I was forced to used them many moons ago at Howard Johnsons, and they just have an unforgettable taste/texture to them. Also, a dark gravy like the one used on the pot roast usually comes from a premix since it can take hours or days to prepare a dark brown gravy or demi-glace. Not trying to beat them up but just something I noticed. All-in-all, Steve's is a great diner. I have been riding by this place for years and am now kicking myself for not stopping in sooner. If you are in the area and have a hankering for some delicious diner food. I highly recommend you check them out. read more

Oh, my God, my mouth is watering just talking about it if you come to Daytona, please let this be one of your places to stop and get a good home cooked meal at a very reasonable rate. Wow. We came here on a Saturday around 5 pm. The place was not packed and we got a nice table. Our server Donna was super nice. We told her this was our first time. I got the turkey dinner with dressing and mashed potatoes green beans and cranberry sauce. Oh do good. My husband got the pot roast. Each dinner comes with a soup. We got the beef and barley and the creamy lemon chicken rice soup that was delicious. The meal also comes with homemade white bread cut thick with butter. I also tried their coffee it was pretty good I drank three cups. We finished the meal off with a slice of chocolate cream pie that was scrumptious, lots of chocolate flavor in the cream fluffy part was so good. They also have all kinds of baked goods. I've become a regular customer, just like everyone else there. They have a variety of foods to choose from and they're pretty good portions for good prices. Everything i tried has been very good. Tuesdays and Fridays they have $8 dinner specials, which you NEVER see anymore. Every meal you get comes with a bowl of freshly baked bread and every lunch and dinner comes with your choice of soup. They have a large variety of desserts and give generous portions at good prices. It's been owned by family for generations. When you go in you'll see the owner working right along with everyone else. It amazes me to see such a young woman have such a successful restaurant and the family feel flows through the whole place. They're always busy but your food and service aren't affected. We didn't think the food tasted good. We got the biscuits and gravy my husband liked it because he was raised on bland hamburger gravy but myself and my son didn't like it. Stopped by over the weekend, a tv dinner would have tasted better. It's just not the same at all. I still remember the later 90's, and between 2000-2019. It was still decent, but we quit going there because the food was changing, then after Covid, it has really changed. Everything went well at Steve's this morning. A friend had a giant breakfast of 3 good size pancakes, crisp full size bacon (not the shaved kind that burns quickly or falls apart because it's so thin and 2 eggs. I had a spinach and Swiss omelet (cooked perfectly) creamy and very tasty grits and a biscuit. Our waitress was fun, efficient and checked back at just the right time. The dinner menu looked great and we will try that out very soon. The ambiance is ok. It's a diner so why waste $$ on fab decor? It's clean with an ama8'g dessert case. I am glad I went. this is a breakfast review. We have enjoyed Steve's Daytona Beach for dinner several times so decided to give breakfast a try. BIG mistake! for starters, the menu is totally inadequate and gives no information as to what each selection includes! My wife got two eggs, sausage, and toast for $9.99 which included potatoes. I chose the deluxe breakfast which included 2 eggs, bacon, and 3 pancakes for $12.99. Stupid me assumed it also included potatos like my wife's meal. (nothing on the menu about either meal). The bill revealed I paid another $5.00 for a few poorly cooked home fries! So, I paid an additional $8.00 more than my wife for 3 pancakes! Ridiculous! Also, coffee was $3.50, so I paid $8.50 for coffee and a few fried potatoes! The waitress should at least have warned me of the extra fee for home fries! Sorry Steves, we won't be back for breakfast! read more

On this year's 'non-traditional' Christmas, we found yet another diner that not only served on the holiday, but was worth visiting any other time of year. Steve's Famous Diner is on North Atlantic in Daytona Beach and it had a sign that said it was open on Christmas Day. The restaurant was filled with kitschy memorabilia featuring prior Greek owner, Steve Mavronas. As we saw in numerous places during our stay, this joint had it all: friendly waitstaff, prompt service and huge portions! DH and I just couldn't believe our luck. He ordered the pot roast special and I had the fish and chips. Our first course was soup; DH had the Beef barley and I had the Greek lemon chicken soup (avgolemono). The avgolemono was new to me and an absolute delight. When the plates with our main courses were delivered we couldn't believe our eyes. After the first few bites, we couldn't believe our tastebuds. The food was plentiful, delicious and made for great leftovers the next day. Well, at least mine did. We're great fans of the Daytona Beach area and Steve's Famous Diner is now among the list of reasons. Drop in if you can. read more
