First off kudos to Julia serving 4 big groups and 9 tables by herself. This is still the dive that it has been for the last 30 years but today was an abomination to the ingredients used to make the product. 1. The grits were raw. They needed more time to cook. They should not have been served. Randy as a cook you know better. 2. Them biscuits were leftovers from the wagon trails of the early 1800's. The new owners continue to improve the appearance, specials, and offer a variety of menu options. I enjoy going whether by myself or with friends. Kim, Julie, Dianna, Danielle, Amanda, Denise, Carly, Jackie, Randy, and I know I am forgetting a few, are all dedicated to great service and if possible brightening a person's day. A customer is always welcome and treated as family. This is a great community restaurant for eat in or ordering to take home. Almost forgot my current favorites - meatloaf is just like I remember my grandmother cooking. I just tried their chicken, and it is also a remembrance of my childhood. We had breakfast here on April 22. We had an egg sandwich and scrambled eggs, sausage and toast. The meal's were delicious and cooked to perfection. The sweet tea and coffee were delicious and the restrooms were very clean as well as the dining area. The restaurant atmosphere was very pleasant and friendly. read more

Their Fried Chicken is fantastic! I try to get it as often as I can. They're cold sides leave a bit to be desired. I've had the macaroni salad and the coleslaw. Neither one would I purchase again. But they're normal hot sides like fries and onion rings things like that are really good. Service is always good. Just know that you have to pay cash. The inside is very dated but don't let that fool you the food is definitely worth going there for. If you love fried chicken you won't be sorry. read more

One of our favorites for fresh fried chicken. Much better than the Chicken Pantry was in Flagler. Wait staff are attentive and always friendly and make you feel like a regular. They fry your chicken to order so it's always hot and fresh. Old school diner ambiance with a very diverse customer base. You can sit at the counter or in a booth. Alot of Nascar drivers drop in during race week so that says something. read more

This restaurant serves the best fried chicken in the South. It is pressure cook- fried and delicious in taste, nongreasy, juicy, and well done. The cole slaw is perfect, and the green beans slow slow-cooked country style. The mashed potatoes are real potatoes and almost all sides are delicious. Enjoy your meal, they are laid back and comfortable. The building is old and is shared on a small strip with other businesses, run down and there was damage to the roof causing leaks in the ceiling of the ladies rest room. Their prices are reasonable and it is a family-run business. The decor is a 50's style tace track diner and many of the locals go there. Cash only! ATM on location. The waitresses are so nice as well as the manager and staff. I took off one star for maintenance and update. p,s. Their Prime Rib is AWESOME on Fridays. First let me say that the fried chicken is excellent. Great taste, nicely fried (not soggy), served hot, and made fresh. My issue is that the sides (mashed potatoes and green beans) were not great. The worst part was the pie, it is not worth getting at all. It was old and lacked any real flavor. Oh well. I'll be back for the chicken! read more

If you want superb fried chicken, this is the place to go. The chicken was moist and the coating was crunchy. Perfection ! The sides were delicious. Great potato salad, baked beans and Cole slaw. No complaints with the food. We went later in the evening so there were not many customers in the restaurant. If you are concerned about being exposed to Covid, I suggest you get you food to go. The staff was not masked. I will definitely be back when I get back to Daytona. The staff was very friendly and with food like the chicken, I don't know why anyone wouldn't try Hamptons. Larry has been wanting some good fried chicken so when we drove by we decided to get some to take home for dinner. As I walked to the door I saw the sign stating that they only accept cash. Fortunately today I had cash with me. The cashier was really nice and when I told her I hadn't been in before but wanted to order carry out she offered to let me take a menu to the car to read it over. We decided to get the 8 pieces bucket with 2 pint sides and rolls. We opted for all dark meat, which is often a little less expensive but it is the same price there which was fine. We chose mashed potatoes and cabbage as our sides. The mashed potatoes were not very warm and didn't taste like real mashed potatoes. The cabbage was fine. The breading on the chicken was crispy and cooked perfectly. The problem was there was not much meat on the pieces we had. Our overall impression was that it was just okay, certainly not the best we have eaten and we likely will not return. read more

This is my first visit to this location, unfortunately the other and original Hampton's Restaurant located in Deland that operated for decades had closed and was demolished a few weeks ago, every time one of these iconic fixtures of the past are erased people seem to question how the owners could possibly justify destroying such a historic landmark the answer is simple - everyone assumes everyone else is supporting these businesses, the owners hang on until it beyond repair, they bail, then someone calls in the bulldozers... This location is much the same as the one in Deland. The food and service is identical, because that's truly who they are, so to address the question that's on everyone's mind "the fried chicken is exactly the same" as are the accommodations (they are going to be closed for the next few days in order to do some renovations) hopefully they won't destroy the chicken fryer or the nostalgic memorabilia hanging throughout the restaurant. As a tribute to the one in Deland that has be demolished I decided to post my last review of that location as well. Hampton's Restaurant - Deland, Florida Sometimes you must ignore the oblivious because "the fried chicken is just that good". Look this drive-in has been here since 1957 and I wasn't around then but I'm guessing it looks very similar to how it did back then. Some may call it nostalgic some may call it worn out and in need of a renovation but the fact remains they ain't gonna be serving you up no pre-battered chicken that's been roosting under a heat lamp for a few hours. This is the kind of chicken my momma would be proud of. I don't know if they have issues or not it's very difficult to judge that, I trust they follow good food preparation practices and they get timely inspections, I go with the theory nothing survives 400 degree grease for 15 - 20 minutes. This is a no frills, the wait is always to long kinda place that even the Colonel would be proud of. So I will continue to come here and if the chicken isn't enough to get you here note to file - they now serve fried pork chops, beat that one pop-eye. First timer and breakfast was good. Corn beef hash, grits, toast, eggs and a piece of fried chicken. They did not mess it up. Not much more to say about the meal. Grits were perfectly cooked, not watery and not too thick. The fried chicken was perfectly fried for my palette; was tasty, not under seasoned nor over seasoned. It was crispy and wasn't dry. If you're not looking for a chain restaurant its a comfy breakfast spot. It's quiet too, no music and the volume on the TV isn't loud enough to make you keep your eyes on it. However, None of the employees are wearing mask or gloves. Hand sanitizer is available. The tables are cleared and wiped with a rag. I didn't see any sanitizer sprayed on the table prior to wiping it. I recommend traveling with your own bleach wipes and hand Sanitizer. Better safe than sorry. read more

This is delicious fried chicken, for sure. Crispy, crunchy, well-seasoned. Large portions - the boyfriend and I split a meal and we walked away with full bellies, unable to finish it all. The mushroom soup was delightful (and those were *real* mushrooms, not canned); the fried okra was, well, a tasty fried side dish... but I'm of the mind that you could probably deep fry up an old boot and it would be tasty; the turnip greens were a little bland, so we probably would not order those again. The waitress was a hoot, always smiling and laughing and what's more, after we left we realized that we left a notepad on the table, just a little thing full of scribbles and lists. But kind of important anyway. We drove back, fully expecting to hear that they had thrown it away with the table trash, but nope! Our thoughtful waitress had found it and set it aside for us, just in case. Lovely! Good food, good prices (about $13 plus tip for a meal that fed both of us) and exemplary waitstaff. read more

Well if you would like an "old school" diner experience where everyone knows one another & the staff is extremely polite & friendly.... This is the perfect spot! (It's a tad scary...) We stopped here for a quick breakfast before the Daytona 500 thanks to finding it online. It's not necessarily the most eye "flattering" on the outside... Or the inside but we enjoyed our experience here very much. The food here was normal breakfast food, nothing exciting. I would like to personally come back for some of their friend chicken everyone raves about. The reasoning for the four stars hands down goes to the staff here. Each of the ladies working here were beyond polite, efficient & friendly. They make you feel very welcome & comfortable.
