Did you know Sun n Sand has been in its location for 6 years? Yes, 6 years. I've lived on this side of the beach for 15 years and have never noticed it. WOW, I was told that so many people tell them this. So, now you are going to know. The owners are Cheryl and Chris. I met Cheryl through a friend and that's when she told me about her place. Lovely place. Doesn't look big from the outside but it is a lot bigger to hold many groups of six ? Or more? The servers are so sweet and friendly. I talked with Nina (and I feel bad I didn't ask the other server's name) But, they worked well together with the kitchen. Now, I'm a new insulin diabetic (Yah me) And I'm still trying to figure out what to eat. So, I had a sausage and tomato omelette (Of course I didn't get a picture of my food) When you're hungry you forget to snap a shot. But, I do have very nice pictures of the place. Now, as I said. It is hard to find this lovely place. I assume everyone knows Lenny's pizza in OBS. Well in my pictures you will see exactly where they are Make sure you do a stop in next time you're hungry. I always love stopping at small diner like places as you get the best food. We were looking for a light lunch and saw this place in a small strip mall and stopped for an early lunch. Super cute inside with maybe 20 tables. We were told to sit wherever we wanted. Each table had silverware in a little bag at each place setting. Our server was quick to bring menus and take our drink order. There was a nice variety of sandwiches, and you could get breakfast all day. I settled on a grilled cheese and was thrilled when I got to pick the bread and the cheese. Swiss on rye sounded perfect, along with chips and a pickle. Our food came out quickly and was very good. Atmosphere - Nice. The restaurant is very small (around 10 tables), but is very comfortable. The decor is very nice. Service - Very Good. Our server was very pleasant and attentive. Food - Just OK. I ordered the chicken salad, which came with potato chips. I asked for the bread to be lightly toasted, but it was toasted much darker. The chicken salad was short of ample and the chicken was shredded to the point of being mushy. There was really no flavor to the sandwich. Overall Value - Just OK. The prices are very reasonable and the service very good. Had the sandwich been a bit better, I would have likely rated the restaurant 4 stars read more

Decided to go to sun and sand cafe for breakfast. Place was packed and our waitress was running here there and everywhere. She warned us it might take a bit because of number of people and short of staff Coffee was hot and good and they kept it filled. Breakfast was 2 eggs, homefries with marbled rye toast and sausage. The marbled rye was fantastic. Would be great for a Reuben sandwich. Only drawback were the eggs. I used to be a cook long time ago. When eggs are over easy or medium, I would never have let a broken egg go out of the kitchen. Mine were broken sad to say. Candyce had an omelette bowl which she completely enjoyed. Great breakfast spot in Ormond Beach. It's in a strip mall so plenty of parking. We got there and were greeted quickly and told we could sit where we liked. I did the eggs, bacon home fries and toast. Pretty solid meal and the portion was well worth the price. When I say get the eye for your toast- you will thank me later! My husband had the sun & sand special. He talked about this breakfast the entire time of our trip and when we got home. He said it was like a biscuit bowl. The staff was lovely! I thought their coffee was great and their fresh fruit was wonderful. However, if you like scrambled eggs, make sure to ask for them dry. Their waffle tastes very good all on its own with no butter or syrup; maybe a sweet cream batter? My hubby loved his special which looked like everything in a bowl with some gravy on top. We recently tried this restaurant for breakfast and we were very disappointed. The service was poor, but there were several people working this morning. We noticed that those who came in who appeared to be regulars, received the best service, while we were ignored and our server was less than friendly when she did come around. The food is overpriced for what we received and it wasn't very tasty. I ordered steak and eggs with potatoes. The potatoes were greasy, the steak was a horrible cut, dry and unseasoned, but the eggs were done very well. That meal was almost $20. We definitely won't be returning, sadly. Doesn't look like much when you walk by. Just a small place in a strip mall. But, man, am I glad I went in. It's a very charming place. Quaint but nice. Has a welcoming feel to it. I was welcomed warmly. The food is outstanding. I had the egg special with pancakes on the side. The eggs were fine -- hard to make scrambled eggs that are noteworthy. But I will note that they were HOT when they came out, which I can't say for all places that I visit. But the headliner was the pancakes. I got blueberries and bananas added to them and they were SO good. Highly recommend the pancakes. Loved this place. I hope I can go back before heading home. read more

So happy to get a new local breakfast spot in Ormond by Sea! They also serve lunch too for reasonable prices. I came for breakfast with my mom on an early Sunday morning. It was crowded but no wait which was nice - we must have beat the late Sunday morning brunch crowd. The inside is clean & decorated with a "beach vibe" which I love. I built my own omelet which came with toast & home fries. You could get grits in place of home-fries as well. My mom got over-easy eggs with grits & toast. We also got one of the specials which were amazing! Chocolate Salted Caramel Pancakes which reminded me of a Caramel Werthers candy. I did not get too much chocolate (they may have just added cocoa to batter because they looked brown), so I would have enjoyed some chocolate chips or some flaked cocoa or chocolate drizzle on top to get the "chocolate" taste, but still enjoyed them a lot! Coffee was also very fresh! Prices very reasonable, and plenty of food! Customer service was also excellent, our waitress was very sweet and checked on us frequently despite having several other tables in the small cafe by herself. I will be coming back again! read more

I ordered scrambled eggs, cooked loose, with a side of ham steak and tomatoes. My husband ordered the tuna melt with fries. My eggs were cooked perfectly as well as my English muffin , which I ordered to be cooked well (first time I didn't have to send one back to be cooked well). My husbands tuna melt on the other hand was a little too loose. I noticed that they used light tuna instead of white albacore, which always gives it a little fishier flavor. They serve an excellent breakfast. Everything is perfectly cooked and delicious. Your food goes from the griddle to your plate and on to your place setting in about 30 seconds so everything is hot from your toast down to your eggs. Who wants cold toast??... not me. Highly recommended. read more

The breakfast was phenomenal and whether we got take out or dined in, everything was made perfectly and we were always greeted with a smile. Sun and Sand is small restaurant in a scrubby strip mall on A1A in Ormond. Had I not noticed that the place had a 4.5 star rating on Yelp, I would have never visited. The restaurant is clean, well decorated and quite small. I ordered biscuits and gravy and the food came out almost instantly as there were only a few other guests. The gravy looked suspect as soon as I got it as it had already developed a skin, not good 30 seconds off the line. The gravy was overly sweet and really had no other flavor. The biscuits were nothing but mush and seemed to be essentially tasteless. The service was lightning fast and efficient, but in a place like this its all about the food. In that aspect this restaurant failed. I cannot fathom how anyone could rate this restaurant at 5 stars. It seems if folks in this area can only give 1 or 5 star reviews. Clearly the older crowd just doesn't get it as I've visited several 4-5 star rated restaurants that were in no way, shape or form 5 star dining. Be wary in the Daytona Beach area as it seems any restaurant that has the lights on and serves food constitutes a 4 star establishment. I won't be back. read more
