This is food innovation!! Take your meaties here...they will NOT be disappointed! The Pub Prezel is by far one of the BEST pretzels I have ever eaten. Soft, chewy, buttery. The loaded fries are so savory and pair so well with the sweet and spicy seitan bits. Love the food here, but experience was truly ruined when we discovered the bathrooms were not ADA compliant. With 2doors in a cramped closet sized space and steps to get into the stalls, they could not be accessed by wheelchair. Heavily disappointed. read more

So the presentation of the food was pretty underwhelming and looked totally different from the pictures they have online. As you can see, the honey bbq chicken sandwich was pretty sad and wilted when I got it, but it actually tasted really good and flavorful. It was sweet and spicy, and the cheese was also really delicious and tasted like real cheese. I just wish that the chicken was crunchier to imitate real Korean fried chicken. The fries were also pretty good, the meat tasted like real meat, but nothing as good as real bulgogi meat the fries were kind of soggy and I wish they were crunchier too. My friend got the Korean fried chicken and they were reaaaaally tiny pieces, they looked more like small chicken nuggets. Overall the taste of the food here was pretty good, but portion sizes were small for the prices they charged, and the presentation looks nothing like what they advertise. Although I love the concept of having a vegan Korean fried chicken place, so kudos to them for trying their best to satisfy the vegans craving their favorite Korean foods! read more

Really bad experience here. Drove a full 30 mins from the domain during Friday evening traffic because I'd read such good things about this place. To start, parking was nonexistent. Had to leave my car two streets away. Sat down, absolutely blasted with noise music that did not fit the vibe of an outdoor patio. Then we ordered the food at the truck, and it took a whole hour and 10 mins to come out to us. Really disappointed that I wasted so much time here, it really wasn't worth it. The spare rib wrap was good, but not nearly good enough to warrant me coming here again. The least they could have done was let us know at the time of ordering that it's like one guy cooking for enough people around that would warrant a real restaurant, not just a food truck, and that food would be out in over an hour. read more

My boyfriend and I visited Austin last November and tried a few local vegan places and we came back this month for a short weekend trip and we now have a favorite. When Hard Luck flipped into a vegan pub/patio called Sunny's I thought I was the luckiest girl in Austin. The food is so good. The patio is always chill. Bartenders and drink selection are amazing. ONE downside is they ALWAYS play 70s/80s music. I know that's the schtick of the logo and everything, but honestly, your bartenders have fire playlists. Just let them play it for the whole patio. I would come here SO much more often if the music was more chill - 90s/2000s nostalgia, twangy Austin tunes - so many better options. Y'all would be packed with millennials every weekend. Change the music and add some thirsted tea candles and watch it pop off. read more

As a vegan, I'm naturally food-driven--you appreciate things more when you can't get them anywhere/everywhere--and over the 9 years i lived in Austin and during subsequent visits back, I've made it a point to try and support new vegan spots. That's all to say, I've been to (and eaten) A LOT, and this is absolutely in my top 3-a total eyes-rolling-back, omg experience. We got the bulgolgi tacos, pub pretzel(s), fried banana peppers, wonton cheese sticks and spare-rib wrap (to share, I swear!) and everything blew me away. I love the food here. I'd gotten the waffle fries and Brussel's sprouts several times in the past. The sprouts are delicious and savory and unique - and the order is HUGE. Last week we had out of town guests with wild kids. Everyone was getting hangry and our spouses went out in search of something close-by. I suggested Sunny's as an option, and they came back with an order of almost everything on the menu! I'm a full-on meat eater (an everything eater, really) and I can say these offerings - all vegetarian - are totally delicious. The burger - yum. Not just a decent burger, but a really great one. The bulgogi tacos - YES. Packed with flavor. Loved the texture. Pretzel bites? YUM!!! Nice pull and chew. My friend liked the wonton cheese sticks the best. Oh yes- also had the addictive crispy chickpeas. And the giant pretzel! Great dipping sauces and grain mustard. I am happy we had so many people in the house so we could justify the huge sampling. Oh - and hanging out at Sunny's is awesome too. Great people, relaxed yard, and fun 70's wallpaper if you want to stay inside. The bar staff is super friendly and chill (polar opposite to a popular joint you'll find across the street...). So - drink/eat in or take out: 5 stars all the way. read more

I very rarely rate places highly but this place hits on all cylinders. The bar is everything you want for east Austin, cool low key vibes inside that stays accurate to the original bar here (I used to come to that place too, this place is a rare east side improvement); the best and booziest frozen drinks in Austin; great deals on drinks at happy hour, sweet outdoor patio that is under the trees (not just a parking lot with tables) and the bartenders are not attentive and nice. The food is also bomb; one of my favorite places to eat vegan in Austin, and that's a very short list. read more

Incredible Springdale spot! Vegan heaven, and even if you're not vegan, you'll find something mouth watering at Sunnys. Super cute backyard bar with giant shady tree and picnic tables. Strong drinks and great happy hour ($6 ranch waters, $6 mules) we got the tacos, the fried bananas and the loaded fries. None of us are vegan but kept reaching for more and were so impressed by the options. Definitely a hidden neighborhood gem that I'm doing to make part of my regular rotation. read more

OMG-- the fries, the fried cheese, the everything! Lovely setting although it would be great if there were more covered seating outdoors (with fans!). Everything we ate was amazing. The one side that was disappointing was the fried broccolini (couldn't taste the veggie at all-- mostly just like crunchy oil), but otherwise the Smoking Buddha bowl was super. I love Impossible Burger so was excited to try the Hot Stuff Baby! Burger. It was so tasty but definitely messy. The Crispy Chickpeas were addictive and if I loved brussel sprouts I would have loved the Brussel Sprout Salad but they really aren't my thing. Hope to go again to try more things! read more
