It's really a mix between 2.5 to 3 stars decided between two people. The craze has been mochi donuts and I did a Yelp search yesterday and came upon Sunmerry Coffee. Since I was going to be in the Brea area, and on a Friday! That meant mochi donuts would be available. They are located in the same plaza as Target on Birch, just a few storefronts to the right, and right next to D'Vine. During COVID-19, don't forget your mask before entering! If you forget, a sign is posted on the front door. Once you enter, you are to stand where the line holder is and they will tell you when you can fully enter the store. I totally understand that there may be less of a variety of bread on the shelves due to COVID-19 and also some may have been sold prior to our arrival. One can purchase items via their online store and also in-store. Matcha White Chocolate Donut $2.50 Black Sesame Mochi Donut $2.50 Iced Medium Cold Brew $4.00 Hot Small Spanish Latte $4.50 We cannot say that we were blown away by the mochi donuts, besides the chewy texture and the different toppings/icing. The Matcha White Chocolate was certainly more flavorful and sweeter than the Black Sesame. I did enjoy the 2 Japanese-style flavors, but overall, I am more of a "been there, done that" for the mochi donuts and do not expect to purchase more in the future. The mochi donuts can be purchased as single(s), half dozen, or a dozen. I was surprised that they had Spanish Latte, as the only other place I've habitually ordered that from is Urth Caffé. Their Cold Brew is most definitely concentrated and the added ice, or water will help dilute the strength of the cold brew. We love coffee, and frequent many coffee shops. We also cannot attest that this was the best cup of coffee that we've had. They do, however, have different variations of coffee on their menu, that makes them stand out. The interior of the store is very white and feels a bit "cold." The service also could not be compared to D'Vine's, where we received excellent service! Prior to leaving the store, make sure that you have your drinks and purchased items because they almost forgot to give us our cold brew. For cold brew, I would suggest Reborn Coffee or The Night Owl. read more

Here's an idea: When taking someone's drink order try to waiting till they've actually completed a sentence instead of cutting them off halfway through and demanding to know if there was "Anything else?!?!?". Myself and my kids were the only people in your store so it isn't like it was busy or something. It's also probably not the best idea to do the same thing to the customer's kids when they are placing their order. It's rude and it causes your boss to lose business. Additionally, making fun of someone's accent after being rude to them is just a testament to your character and nothing else. All of this is an aside to the fact that the boba here is terrible and my drink was wrong. The tapioca balls were under cooked and a third of my smoothie was brown sugar syrup because they never bothered to drain them correctly before adding them to my drink. Oh well, plenty of better places around that will actually treat me and my kids with some level of respect when we come through their doors to spend money. EDIT: To the owner, this was definitely at your store. I'm not sure what kind of misunderstanding would have taken place for your employee to be so incredibly rude to myself and my children. This coffee and tea establishment is located in a busy marketplace next to the Target. They have a wide range of menu items with different ways of customizing your drink order. I ordered their cold brew with foam and my girlfriend got the Blueberry Matcha Latte and they were able to make a hot version of the drink for her. The Blueberry Matcha Latte was phenomenal! So delicious! I honestly will get that next time. The cold brew was decent but I am a snob when it comes to cold brew, but still definitely better than average and the foam was well placed and had a great taste. Service here was phenomenal and they practiced great safety with managing the current Covid-19 epidemic by staying six feet away from customers while still providing excellent service. I discovered this place thats only 3 min from my house. I have been coming here everyday and would have continued to keep coming here since its so close to my house. But had the employees been a been more courteous and respectful. The 4th visit I came in with my mom and a baby in the stroller and the cashier yelled out from the register saying I cannot come in without a mask. If he only asked respectfullly, greeted me with a hello welcomed to our store ... may you please wear a mask ... or offer one. But he came out to be loud, rude and unwelcoming. My mom and I were shocked and offended after that and we just left. The 3 times I have come here and bought the passion fruit tea, tiger boba, the waffles and they were incredibly delicious. I definitely rate this place a five star. The first time I came here I brought my 3 year old daughter and there's stuffed animals being sold her as well as candles and key chains, etc.. We ended up buying a boba stuffy and its been my daughters favorite stuff. I would have been here everyday seriously. I have met the other staff here and they are incredibly friendly. Mochi Donuts: 6.5/10 The donuts are very well decorated and displayed. The taste however is very very average. Not necessarily memorable. Iced oat latte (decaf): 3/5 very average, most decaf coffees tend to taste more on the "burnt" side. Store: employees are really nice and helpful, store is clean and location is good. read more

If you the type enjoy high quality coffee it's not a place for u. Bakery : is very standard but definitely better than 85 degree. It's sad they get rid of their tuna bread I personally think that was the best bakery they offered. Staffs: also friendly and welcoming. Pretty decent, a little bummed we didn't get to try the drink we wanted to try from when this place was called press coffee. We tried the basic brown sugar boba latte with oat milk and it was better than some places but not the best. They are doing good with the social distancing and will bring your drink out to you after you order so you don't crowd the building. read more

I told myself I would start writing reviews for 2020 and beyond! I've been to thousands of places and need to start reviewing them! I started my day here with an americano and an apple pastry. Both were delicious and great service! The espresso was the right temperature and well balanced, and the apple pastry baked in house. You could tell: it was so flaky and warm but not too sweet. I also prefer the vibe of this cozy place to corporate coffee places (you know who they are). It's also a great place to chill and do some work on a laptop. Stopped by this little spot that is having a Soft Grand Opening and a 20% off deal. I had to try the tiramisu latte and it even had freshly shaved chocolate pieces on top! Best of all is they even offer Oat Milk! Not bad for a coffee shop just starting our, Starbucks doesn't even offer that. Needless to say the drink was great. Total Tiramisu flavor! It's a small little shop but enough tables a set up to get work done and the staff was friendly, welcoming, and answered my question (what's a "cortado").. which is what I'll be trying next time. Although the variety of pastries they carry here is limited as opposed to the other location, the quality of the bread and drinks are still exceptional. The iced grapefruit green tea is SOO good..as they use real grapefruit so you get the refreshing pulpy sips. This time, I decided to try out their coffee & was blown away. Usually I'm pretty skeptical about trying coffee at places where coffee isn't their specialty. However, the espresso in my honey lavender latte was strong (just the way I like it) and so smooth! I love how it wasn't too sweet as many cafes overdo it with the syrups. A solid 10/10 for both times I tried their iced tea & iced honey lavender latte. They also have other non-dairy substitutes which is always a plus! Grab some fresh, fluffy pastries on the way out too. And mochi donuts if you get there in time and there's still any left :P. I really do hope they start expanding their selection of breads they carry in the near future (and maybe even some cakes, which is what they're also known for!). Obviously it's take-out only right now cus of COVID so they have you wait outside while your drink is being made & bring it out to you when ready. Usually very happy with the promptness of my order and service, but today was a total let down. Placed a pick-up order and arrived about 5 min early so I didn't mind waiting. As I arrived the associate asked my name and I let him know my name for pickup order and was then told they ran out of boba and it would take another 20 min. I feel as if you should have another batch on deck when you see you're running low so this does not happen. I wasn't offered anything for the inconvenience and there was no sense of urgency. I have to say the main reason pushing me to write a review was the service I received when I came in. The girl who helped me was so kind and even sweeter when she gave me my drink. I got an iced honey cinnamon shaken espresso with oat milk and it was so good, I loved it. I also got their Nutella bun and the black sesame mochi bun, and they were both very good. I have to be honest and say that this wasn't what I expected from looking at their Yelp photos. The shop is a lot smaller with barely enough room to stand around and wait for the drinks. They did have some yummy looking pastries on display though. Oh and it was like BTS exploded all over the shop with photos literally everywhere. The nutella latte I ordered was surprisingly good. I wasn't sure what to expect but it turned out to be the right amount of nutella flavor and sweetness. My husband's brown sugar boba milk tea was overwhelmingly sweet. I guess if he had specified less sugar it wouldn't have been that bad. We left with donuts to go and cute boba plush we couldn't resist to get for the kids. I was looking for mochi donut around the area, and guess what? This Sunmerry has them! Based on my research, they don't have them in all Sunmerry locations (correct me if I'm wrong), it didn't say they have it in Irvine location. You know how the other mochi donut shop makes you buy half a dozen minimum and only makes 4 flavors per day? Well, not here! They have 8 different flavors, and it was just for me and my boyfriend, so we got 4, and they all SOO GOOD! Our favorite is Mango, it's not too sweet, but very aromac, which is something I like. P.S. I went here on a Tuesday evening, I was a little upset, because I looked it up and especially drove out in hopes of getting some, but they actually only have mochi donut on certain days (schedule was nowhere to be found online, as of Oct 27th, 2020), I took a picture of the time, unfortunately I lost it, but I'm sure one of the days are Wednesdays @10AM, because that's the time I got them and took a picture of these little cuties! read more
