Seems like Communitea Coffee has cracked the code to what I-- at least-- am wanting from a coffee shop, starting with matcha. I got the earl grey matcha which are two of my favorite flavors it was of course delicious. Food: They had just rolled out a new menu that includes a slice of sourdough bread and butter for 5$. I'm really working on cutting out the sweet treats (which they have plenty of) so it was perfect for me. They also have wholesome foods such as breakfast sandwiches and burritos which-- if I didn't have dinner plans after my study session-- is always appreciated as too often the food at coffee shops are sugary pastries and a bunch of empty calories. Service was friendly and personable. Communitea shows its dedication to being a warm, welcoming third-space environment. There is a shelf filled with board games and a kids play area (if you have one of those). They have assorted merchandise like coffee beans, plants, mugs, chips & snacks, etc.. There were flyers for all types of events throughout the month. I don't often write reviews I don't even live anywhere near Brea, but I would love to see this business thrive if not expand. read more

Found this cute little coffee place in Brea. My friend and I really enjoyed this place. Indoor decor and ambiance is quite inviting. Very clean and all the staff are quite friendly. They have a kiddie corner area where kids can play while the adults can enjoy their beverages. We ordered their lavendar lemonade and it was so pretty to look at and quite refreshing to taste. I also ordered their Headliner which is Viet coffee with vanilla cold foam with sprinkles on top. This drink wasn't as strong as a typical Vietnamese coffee but it had a nice flavor. The Apple danish was quite delicious. Overall all 3 items rang up to be around $18 a bit pricey but the service and ambiance make up for it. Stopped by last week for a quick coffee. I'm never in the area but it was close to a job I had in the area. The service from "hello" to "goodbye" was excellent, and so was my coffee. Very cute and welcoming coffee shop! Love that they host community events in their space and have a partnership with the board game/card shop nearby. I wish they had more non-caffeinated options! Shaken iced tea lemonade - 5/5, not too sweet and the peach blossom tea is very nice. Definitely more on the tart side, which I enjoy. read more

Amazing service, ambience and drinks. That Earl Grey Matcha was something I've never experienced before and my entire family thought it was delicious. The Irish cream Cold brew was just the right amount of sweet with a very smooth coffee flavor. We also enjoyed the aesthetic presentation of the drinks. There are free water cups at the bar area. We did not get to enjoy it but they had a nice little play area for little kids inside the coffee shop as well as board games. Would definitely recommend if you're in the area. I came here on a Saturday afternoon after dropping by the Brea mall. Great coffee shop with indoor & outdoor seating to chat or do some work. As a first timer I asked what was the most popular and the barista said hers was the Blackberry Vanilla Shaken Latte. I'm normally not a fruity latte person, but I figured why not since I rarely venture this direction. The first sip was a wow. The blackberry was forward and took a little getting used to. The more I drank it, the more it grew on me. I throughly enjoyed it. The espresso was good and pepped me up for the day. I visited for the first time this weekend and got a Hollaback Girl latte. The taste was great and I enjoyed it quite a bit but the price point was a little on the higher side so this is going to be more of a once-in-a-while treat for me. It's a little loud inside and there were some kids running around. Not the biggest deal but if this is a common occurrence on weekends, this isn't a place I would take a friend to hang out and talk. An overwhelming amount of menus to look at while the staff stares you down waiting for you to decide on what you want. They raced over to help me and then seemed annoyed when I wasn't ready. I felt rushed. Coffee was fine. Tasted a bit burnt and didn't have enough syrup or milk so I had to ask for more. Still didn't have much flavor to it. Kids' play area is cute and they have monthly events, which is cool. They have plants for sale, but it's a whole process to buy them. Their merch doesn't all have pricing so don't bother with that. Had the most pleasant experience here today with my littles! They have the cutest play area that kept my kiddos entertained for awhile!! Communitea is a really charming spot with a cozy, community-focused vibe. The shop is super cute and features items from independent vendors, which is a nice touch and fun to browse while you wait. I ordered The Headliner along with the green chili bacon egg burrito, and both were delicious the burrito especially was a standout. They also have a great selection of games and books to hang out with (even spotted the full Harry Potter set ), which makes it an easy place to linger. The staff were genuinely friendly and helpful, which really adds to the overall experience. Great place to grab coffee, relax, and enjoy the atmosphere. Definitely worth a visit. read more

It's been almost two years since I've been here. I'm surprised I decided to come here again following my subpar experience my first time when they first opened up. I never took on their free drink offer because I'm the type of person that feels bad about getting complimentary items to try and make up for a bad experience. Since my Yelp friends really like this place, I decided to try it again. I figured I was a little harsh my first time around but that was just me being completely honest and blunt about my past experience. I was nearby and instead of going to my usual spot right down the street, I wanted to see if this place has gotten better in my books. This time around, I ordered the most basic drinks to see their quality control. I got myself an Iced Latte with oat milk and an Iced Americano. I'm not the biggest fan of their oat milk but the latte was very refreshing and the espresso had a good flavor. The Americano was ever so slightly on the sour side but it was still good enough to get a thumbs up by me. Although this won't be my go-to coffee spot, I'll try to be around every once in a while to change things up from my usual routine. read more

Such a cute little coffee and tea shop! Located in a small shopping strip next to several different shops. The moment you walk in, you'll notice a fairly large sitting area, which is great for individuals who want to just study or sit in a relatively quiet area. Additionally, out front, at least on the day I came in, people were doing a sip and paint with coffee/tea, which was really cool. The baristas were really nice and welcoming. They have a very large menu and you can tell that it was done intentionally so that all the flavors can hit all sorts of folks while being as traditional as possible. The vibes are great and drinks are unique and so tasty. I don't really drink coffee anymore so I just usually get their non caffeinated drinks or their non coffee drinks. My absolute favorite is their Pistachio Bloom. The right amount of chai, sweetness, rosey, pistachio flavors mixed together. My husband has gotten their Vietnamese coffee and I had a sip. You can tell the quality is really good and my husband thinks it's one of the best Vietnamese coffees he's had in the area. This place also isn't just a coffee shop. They regularly have events at the shop that serve the community (i.e. boom events, pet rescue fundraiser, mom meet ups, plant workshops, etc). They also have a corner for young kids to play at as well as a board game collection. If my kids were older, I imagine this to be a spot to hang out and play board games with their friends. I have tried a lot of their drinks and the standouts for me are: Spanish latte, blackberry honey shaken espresso, chill pill blue lavender latte (no caffeine), and blueberry matcha. Also, their tonics are super refreshing. I loved the passion fruit one they had. Kind of sad they don't have the Rose Cardamom Tea Latte anymore as it used to be one of my go-tos. They seriously have a drink for everyone, whether you're a coffee lover or tea lover. The baristas are always super nice and accommodating. I also love that they are a local business who supports small businesses. The ambiance is pretty chill, and it's such a great place to study or work. We were headed to the Brea mall and saw the coffee sign so we decided to stop by. It's tucked in the corner of a shopping center. You first walk in and you see the cute little shop, with a cute little play area for kids and plenty of seating. I went with the headliner since it's a Vietnamese coffee with some vanilla cream and I also ordered a green chile burrito. My daughter ordered a blueberry matcha and a green chile burrito. I absolutely loved my iced coffee it was so delicious. The right amount of coffee and sweetness. My daughter liked her too, she had finished it before we even left the place. The burrito was good, I just wish the bacon was a bit more crispy but other than that it hit the spot. I am so happy we found this cute coffee place. Nice new coffee spot in Brea! Tried the cookie butter drink and it was so good. Perfect balance of flavor with the coffee. The almond pastry was very tasty and they toasted it as well. Loved the stuff for kids in the back. I'm sure it helps while parents are enjoying their drinks that their kids can keep busy. Used to come to the cafe located here 6+ years ago since I worked in the shopping center, first time coming back but into the new business communities and I'm so happy they turned it into a coffee shop. Stepped in to get some work done while in the area and enjoyed an iced latte plus a bagel. For reference, places like Aroma Coffee or Tasty's serve vibrant, flavorful matcha that truly feels premium. At $8, I expected more. I tried to give it a chance since it was so expensive but it's pretty undrinkable. If you're coming in for some matcha, I'd recommend skipping it here. I'm a plain Jane and my orders are usually "tried and true" in which I usually get a matcha latte; but I decided to switch it up and try their Fall version, which is the Blackberry Honey Matcha. A very cute coffee spot in Brea! Located in a plaza that I never frequent so it's a lovely addition. Very cute inside. Good amount of seating and there's even a kids play area and a place where they keep board games! Fun! I got the iced matcha latte with almond milk. Came out to 6.30 for a regular, which is quite standard for the area. My friend got the blackberry honey matcha off their fall menu. The barista asked me to let them know if I liked my drink (I didn't ask for any additional sweeteners) and my first sip was fine but then I winded up grabbing a stevia packet to add to amp it a bit. My fault on my end, but I'm not used to asking for sweeteners/syrups in matcha. I got to try some of my friend's drink and it seemed nice--they had the blackberry in the foam and I thought that was different (in a good way). I think I would have to frequent this place more in order to boost it up to 5, but that's a challenge I'll accept. I hope they continue to thrive! Ordered the iced Earl grey matcha using their convenient online app. The description sounded really good. As a matter of fact, all the descriptions of the drinks sounded good so kudos to whoever did the website. The drink however, had no hint of an earl grey at all. It tasted like a regular matcha drink. $7.25 for a Small size I was hoping for something better. Also, the drink was more on the milky side than matcha flavor. When I walked in to get my drink, I noticed they had a food menu with breakfast items, so I asked about them. The lady (not sure if owner) gave off a dismissive vibe when i asked if any of the items were made in-house. She said they were not an eatery but rather a coffee shop so they outsource their food. She made it a point to say it twice and seemed annoyed. Yes, I know what a coffee shop is and I have seen other coffee shops that make their food in-house. It's not a big deal, I just like to eat semi healthy and wanted to know what to expect when I received my food. Was it going to be a frozen burrito or freshly made.. in any case, it turned out to be the former. A small burrito with a lot of tortilla. Headliner, Viet Coffee, Kids Raspberry Lemonade, Kids Chocolate Milk, and Chocolate Chip Cookie. The Coffee is delicious and they have so many fun drinks to choose from. Viet coffee rivals Blk Dot in my opinion and raspberry lemonade will be a repeat order for my kiddo. A great selection for coffee lovers. They also have a kids menu, board games and play area for little ones making this a family friendly shop that lives up to their name. Atmosphere is cool and unique with lots of coffee humor. Bathrooms are always clean and smell nice. Staff was friendly and made sure to acknowledge customers even when really busy.
