I have had solar panels that were installed by Sunlux for the last 4 years. I need to get my roof redone due to water leaks. I have been trying to get an estimate from Sunlux for the last few weeks to remove and then reinstall the panels, but communication is lacking. Someone did get back to me after a few days with a question about which panels I need to have moved. I got back to them then nothing from them for the last 10 days. If it was something minor I wouldn't care so much but I need to get this done before it rains again. read more

It took a year, but we are getting the correct inverter. I would have had no problem with the inverter that was installed, except the graph showed what appeared to be an early cut-off in power production. After speaking to a number of people a number of times, they finally agreed to do an analysis. Never told me the outcome, but said they would put in the originally promised inverter to "keep me happy." Yet they had previously told me that the smaller inverter would be better for our system. So will my system now be less efficient? Or should I assume the analysis confirmed my suspicions? Mistakes are completely acceptable; pretending they didn't happen is a bit annoying. read more

I hate to do this, but I have no other alternative. I purchased a solar system from Sunlux in November of 2018. Worked good for a while, then the system started to fail. Panels did not produce, they fixed that problem, then the bottom fell out. I have been without production for over 3 months. They refuse to live up to their commitment of repairs. Granted, I live out of the area they service, but if living out of the area of service is a problem, why did they accept to take the job in the first place. Until they live up to their promise to repair, I'm going to keep posting bad reviews. My recommendation is stay away from SunLux. Find another solar company read more

SunLux themselves were good, my sales guy was great. I thought their prices were good, but I found lower price elsewhere with the same type of warranties and products. The 2 star is because of whom they chose as their financing company, Sunlight Financial. Sunlight did not approve me and would not explain why, the explanations they provided did not make sense, I am a loan officer and I questioned them on the technicalities and they just flat out lied and ignored me. I filed a BBB complaint against them because it just seemed like more to it that what I was told. Ultimately it worked out in my favor, found a much better price and got approved for financing with another company. Sunlux was great from start of our project, estimates and projections through installation. I would recommend getting more panels if you have the option, when we built our system out, we added extra panels and it makes a huge difference. Especially with rising energy costs. We love our solar panels, this home improvement not only saves us thousands os dollars a year, but it also helps us to do our part to conserve as much as possible. Also, when we installed our panels, Sunlux replaced our roof for a fraction of the normal roofing costs, and we received rebates back from both upgrades. Our roof and solar installation went ok but the real trouble started when they turned on net metering and now we are paying double what we did before solar. We have reached out to Sunlux for support multiple times over the months and they still refuse to send anyone out to look at our system. Instead they blame LADWP, but at least the LADWP came out and tested their meter and said it was functioning correctly. There support after the fact speaks volumes about them, so I would caution anyone to use them. I am now in a situation where my only option is to speak with an attorney because they have completely stopped communicating with me and we are loosing money every month after giving Sunlux thousands of dollars which was supposed to save us money. read more

If you are shopping for solar, STAY AWAY from this dishonest company. I wish I read all the reviews before I signed the contract. Please, read other reviews. Luckily, I'm finally able to cancel my contract. It took me 3 months to realize that they just kept making false promises and were not professional at all. Where do I start, first roof estimate was no way near accurate, it was way higher ($5000) than other roofing companies' quotes. (I got 3 quotes) Finally they agreed to reduce 5k to match. Then the solar quotes was the highest among all the other quotes I had. I negotiated with the salesman Jerry and finally got 2K down. What I didn't know was, he tricked me to "upgrade" to Boral Saxony 700 instead of 600(original quote) . He said 700 is more expensive than 600 ($821 difference) which is a lie. I later found out it's not the case at all！ Then, after I signed the contract, gave them the deposit, Jerry asked me to pay $8000 more for plywood which he promised in writing it's all included. Why? Because he stated that made a mistake????? Jerry offered to pay $5000 out of his pocket and asked me to pay another 3K. I told him I can't afford it then he said okay, All included( all these happened in one day) sketchy right? Then I asked them to revise the contract stating plywood is included but never got update one. Weeks go by, nothing happened, Finally I reached to their boss to ask for explanation, owner Mike talked to me like 5 mins, saying he was going to dig it up then I never heard from him again. Another week goes by, no answer whatsoever. Then they just sent me an email asking me to sign the cancellation letter. No explanation, no apologies, nothing. We signed it anyway cuz we want to get our deposit back. I'm blown away by their false promises, lies and unprofessional attitudes. You have been warned! I have SunLux install my system about half a year ago. Initially, it took us some time to get going due to the city's delays, no fault to SunLux. After we got started, there was an issue with a fuse and they came back to fix it. The sales team was nice and did not pressure us at all. They gave us a fair price, and provided us with great service. After about 6 months, we had some issues with an older existing meter. This was for our old solar system. Sunlux came out and helped us diagnose and fix the problem. Their tech team was professional, prompt, and efficient. At first, I felt choosing Sunlux to be my solar provider was one of my best decisions my for my house. I saved money on my energy bill and got a great tax rebate. However, over the last two years, I'm starting to regret my decision starting with the Solar Edge inverter modem issue.(Google it!) Sunlux and Solar Edge refused to change out the modem without paying $500 or informing the customer of a WiFi bypass in the inverter. MONEY GRAB! Then, unbenost to me, the inverter malfunction (an expert told me Solar Edge Inverters have a left expentency of two to the years) for close to a year leaving me with a $2K edison bill that Sunlux refuses to address with me after I EMAILED them the bills. Not even a reply back from the owner Guillermo with a reply "Thank you for information. I will review it and get back to you shortly." Oh and here is the best part....Solar Edge (stock recently down graded by Barklays) sends out a new replacement inverter with a 3G Modem inside! Fortunately, l figured out how to install the WiFi connection with $25 wireless router extender from Target! HELLO! 3G is no longer in service by the cell carriers. I guess they had to get rid of their old stock some way. What a joke! Now I have another water leak under my solar panel system and they want me to EMAIL pictures! Talk about COLD customer service.....pick up the phone and call the customer guys. I'm updating my review after Garrett took the time to coordinate to have a couple of fixes related to the gutter that was poorly done (piping was reversed and was leaking). There was ownership over some snafus that happened throughout this process, which ultimately what is causing me to change my review to 5 stars - their customer service clearly shines through and they will want to fix things. I would ultimately say: if you're going with Solar, use Sunlux. If you're going with roofing, I wouldn't recommend Sunlux until they figure out their craft here. I am so happy with my Sunlux experience! After going through the process I would definitely choose them again without hesitation. I initially reached out to Tesla Solar, which seemed great at first. We had a good initial meeting, the proposal looked good, and the gentleman that did my inspection was so nice. Then everything went sideways. After my inspection, the initial estimate went up $8,500 for additional costs. I called my local utility company to verify what Tesla Solar was telling me was needed. My utility company sent someone to my house to inspect and verified it was not needed. Suddenly, I had a hard time getting ahold of my Project Manager at Tesla and the engineers could not agree on the requirements. Every few weeks they would just send me an email asking if I had signed the documents yet. They didn't want to discuss what the utility company said. That is when I called other companies, including Sunlux. My sales contact, Rob Martinez, worked with me and answered all of my questions. After reviewing the proposals, I researched the equipment on each proposal. The pricing was all competitive, but the equipment Sunlux quoted was far superior and the reviews were great. That is when I signed with Sunlux. Everyone I talked to, emailed, or that came to our house was friendly, professional, and overly polite. From my Project Manager, Emma Stadler, to the techs sent to our house for installation and inspections, everyone was knowledgeable and amazing. Emma kept me informed every step of the way and I did my part by emailing or calling when I had questions. Every email or call was responded to quickly. If someone did not know the answer to my question, they would have someone call me with the answer right away. Every inspection was passed easily. They submitted everything for me and made the whole process seamless. My solar system was turned on today and I am excited to see the kW it started producing right away. I went solar in December 2019 and chose SunLux after having several companies give me quotes. I had them redo my roof and install some panels. I did not have any issues with the work they performed and was actually quite pleased with how the project turned out. I was told at the time of sale that I should expect a $10-$20 monthly bill from Edison for using power and staying on the grid. I was also told that the power my panels would produce would offset any energy I pulled from the grid. I know that was only an estimation and there's no way to project what is going to happen year to year, but I wasn't expecting what happened next. At the beginning of January I received a bill from Edison for over $700! This was what they called a true up bill and was charged based on the extra energy I used throughout the year. I had no idea this was even possible. I called Edison and they said I had to take it up with SunLux. This is where my major issue came up. I called and they opened a service ticket. I received a phone call from Mike Valencia (VP OF SALES / FOUNDER). Mike said they would send out a technician to look at my system. A few days later the tech showed up and said there was nothing wrong with my system. A few days later the same tech showed up unannounced and needed to install something into my wireless router because my system was having signal issues. Good thing I was home because I had no idea he was coming over. After that, I heard nothing from the company. NOTHING. I emailed Mike multiple times over the next few weeks and he did not respond. I emailed the lady who set up the service ticket and she did not respond. I called Mike and left him a message which he did not return. After not hearing anything about why I had a $700 bill, I called SunLux again and spoke to a representative who said she would look into it and expedite a response. Guess what happened? That night I got not one but 2 emails from Mike. The first to tell me that my system had under produced by over 800 kWh, that I had used more energy then the previous years and that 2020 was an anomaly due to the fires and rain. He also said they would send me a check for around $120 due to the under production of my system. The second email was received after I told him I was going to post a Yelp review regarding their lack of communication. Mike assured me that, just as with 2020, my situation was also an anomaly and that it was not representative of the way the company communicates. This review is to serve two purposes: 1. inform future solar customers that what they tell you in the consultations is not 100% accurate. Be aware that you will be charged for excess energy used and make sure you read your entire electricity bill to know exactly where you stand month to month on energy cost. I thought the $10-$20 monthly bill was all I was supposed to pay based on my conversation with the sales rep, so I never even bothered reading my whole bill. That was my fault, but don't make the same mistake otherwise you will have a $700 surprise come the new year. 2. Let the company know that their lack of communication led to this review. I had no issues with anything until my multiple emails met no response. If I had been told it would take several weeks to figure out the issue or that they were working on it and would get back to me soon or anything at all, I wouldn't have felt so ignored. Mike obviously gets his emails, he emailed back at 10 pm after I told him I was going to leave a Yelp review. Why couldn't he just take five minutes over the past few weeks to respond with anything instead of repeatedly ignoring my messages. $700 is a lot of money I was not expecting to spend. I realize that I need to be more diligent when using my electricity and reviewing my energy bills so that this does not happen again. What I would also like to have happen in the future is that when I call for assistance or email for help, I get as prompt of a response as I did when I was first interested in purchasing solar. After months of research, my husband and I finally installed solar panels on our home. We had a fantastic experience with Sunlux. After putting the sales agent through his paces with my many questions about the materials, the esthetics and the process, he passed with flying colors. He was very patient and informative. He was the only one (of many) who took the time to make sure I understood how each component worked with the system. The system we purchased was designed for our needs and energy usage not just the square footage of our home. The engineers were very helpful with designing multiple options for the panel placement. I certainly didn't make things easy for them. Each person I interacted with was helpful and professional. The installation took one day. A team of five very polite men worked together efficiently and neatly. They cleaned up perfectly before leaving. The city inspection followed a week later. The inspector was very impressed with the quality of the installation. At that visit, one man from Sunlux took care of all the painting of conduit to match our siding, roof and trim colors. They actually color matched all the paint! The system is up and running. I have an app on my phone that keeps track of the energy production. It was all seamless. I highly recommend Sunlux and our sales agent, Mark Trujillo. Mark has stayed in touch throughout the entire process to make sure I was happy with the progress and final result. One final note. Sunlux was less expensive, provided a better warranty, uses high quality panels and has excellent customer service from start to finish. We were contacted by the regional manager with apologies and wanted to make things right by working with us to design a system to fit our needs. In the long run, we decided to go with a different provider in the East Bay Area who was more familiar with PG&E. I contacted SunLux for a estimate to purchase panels for our home in Fremont, CA in Northern California. I was concerned that the company is based in San Diego but SunLux has been advertising heavily in the Bay Area on the radio and a yelp reviewer in the Bay Area gave them high marks. After my limited experience, that 4 star rating from the Bay Area was NOT my experience. I was contacted by Cheryl, a marketing specialist, after I sent in a request on The SunLux website. I told her my concerns about SunLux not being based in the Bay Area, but she told me that SunLux has a regional office in Livermore. She also said that they could do an internet based meeting where we go over an Internet demo while speaking to a representative over the phone or a representative could come to our home. If I'm going to spend $10k, I want someone to come to my home. I sent Cheryl my PG&E usage for the year and she said she would send me an email with a meeting confirmation. 3 days later and no email confirmation, I contact Cheryl letting her know that I still did not get a meeting confirmation. She apologized and sent an email confirmation that day. Unfortunately, the meeting was for an Internet meeting. I contacted Cheryl letting her know that I requested an in house meeting. She apologized and sent a new meeting confirmation for an in house appointment the following week. So the day of the meeting finally arrives. My husband comes home early to be at the meeting. A few minutes after our meeting time, I get a call from in unrecognized phone number from Fresno, CA. which is 3.5 hours away from Fremont. I answer the phone, thinking maybe the representative is based in Fresno, but is lost and on his way. I was correct that it was the SunLux rep, but has asks if we are ready for our internet demo. I let him know that I was supposed to have an in-house meeting. He then said that generally the initial meeting is about what SunLux can do for us and would last about 10 minutes. If he had the electricity usage info maybe he would have more information to present to us. I point out that I sent that data to Cheryl, which he in turn tells me that I'm correct (DUH) he has the usage information in his files. UGH! There are plenty of solar providers in our area and I told him that since they were not prepared for this meeting, they did not have to sent up a new meeting. They had their chance. Do not use this company. My husband and I both feel cheated by this company. When I expressed my concerns with this company regarding my issues I was told I was "the worst customer" and I was treated very horribly. I do get that they probably have bad customers but I was just calling to clarify the rebate because I learned we were given/understood the wrong information. I asked to speak with the manager and a woman called me back and told me I would hear from Mile (the owner) however that was a week and a half ago and no response. We were given wrong information, and during installing one worker said "I don't care what it looks like, it's not my house" thankfully another worker came down and asked me how I wanted it because we had an issue with the layout. When getting solar you rely on these companies to help guide you and treat you with respect. This company gave us none of that. I would not recommend this company and the sales rep Bill Young, I would not recommend even taking a phone call from him. When I called him to clarify things I was hung up on by him and was told many other disrespectful things by him. Highly recommended, especially if you think you got roofing issues. I'm glad I didn't give up on my solar project because I almost did. Back in 2019, I was ready to move ahead with the project and went to energysage.com get quotes. I've had over 10 quotes and I actually even signed up with another installer at the time (not SunLux) and started the project. Then shortly after the project started I was told they discovered my roof had issues so the project was cancelled. I cancelled in part 1) the installer didn't do roofing and I didn't want to deal with multiple contractors and 2) the unexpected cost in the project. And apparently, the installer wasn't too excited about either, it seem. I guess most installers out there just want the easy installs but that's not the real world out there. I all but had given up. Then 6 months later I decided I give it another try and recalled Sunlux had given me a quote prior but never followed up on it. Explained my situation to Tracy, my Sunlux consultant and he said my roof issue can be handled by Sunlux. He was very responsive to my needs, customized a system that I want and even had a great suggestion on the panel placement. How it looks is as important as the power for me. All that within my budget. So with contract signed, this is typically where most solar project fall apart (right?) and this is what I heard from my neighbors with their solar project from a different installer. Nope, not with Sunlux. The project moved quickly and it stayed that way. I got coordinated with the project manager Jennifer and she made sure all my concerns were addressed. Even with Covid, the project took no more than 3 months and the bulk of the wait is with permitting. It only took 2 days for roofing and other 2 days for the panel install. This is an older house on a hill; requiring a new main electrical panel, coordination with Edison because our old service line from Edison had been damaged in an earthquake plus TWO permits with the City. Many salesmen from Solar City, SUNrun and Horizon wasted 6-8 months of my time and could not put it together. SUNLUX promised they do everything IN-HOUSE so they could relocate and install the new main electrical panel, coordinate with Edison as Edison relocated the new underground service and complete City permits to MY total satisfaction ----AND THEY DID. Oh yes--- they also installed a fantastic 9.012 kW system just the way I wanted it. The arrows on Edison's electrical meter are now pointing to the left (back to Edison) --- Very Cool and I don't have to worry about the IRS this year also Very Cool. Sunlux.com is the worse installer of all. They been trying to fix one section of my roof leak for the last three months. They can't never get it fix. The whole team is incompetent of fixing the roof leak. The worse part is they won't lead me go to get my own roofer to fix it. I did that once on the other section of my roof and it fix, but they won't reimburse me. They said it's not their cause even though they are the one that replace my roof. I would give them a F. They are good at Fxxxing up stuff but can't get anything right. Just like when they install my LG batteries that it doesn't work. The worse part of all is when they remove the batteries, they created a surge into my house that damage all my equipments. They should not even get one star. My salesperson (Chris) was very honest, informative and professional. There was no sales pressure at all. He explained the entire project in detail and satisfactorily answered all my questions. He was extremely patient with me when I called him numerous times with questions I had pertaining to my internet solar research I conducted as I was educating myself on solar. I got several quotes prior to choosing Sunlux. Although Sunlux was a little more expensive than others (not much), I chose Sunlux because of the professionalism Chris displayed and because they are a large professional company who is dedicated to customer service. My project manager (Berlyn) was outstanding. She was constantly communicating with me by either phone, email or text. They were in contact with the roofer the entire time and I never had to deal with the roofer directly. Troy Roofing did an exceptional job on my roof. The guys worked 3 hard long days in 100 degree weather. They demonstrated pride in their work and they did an excellent job. I highly recommend Troy Roofing. In summary, I am extremely pleased with Sunlux Solar and the outstanding job they did. They totally exceeded my expectations. I highly recommend them for your solar project. You will not regret it. I commend their staff Chris (my salesperson) for his professionalism and honestly. There were no surprises. Sunlux is super professional. They installed our solar within 2 days of the approved permit. Our Project Manager Erika Garcia is super efficient and responsible. I had an issue with the power on Friday night after the installation and sent her an email at 12:17 AM midnight. The tech shows up at my door the next morning at 8AM. When I saw the tech, I am speechless with their service. Jerry Hong is my sales representative, very knowledgeable about the solar, and usually, reply to my text in a minute. He even helps me take some pictures of the solar panel with his drone. I would like to give them 6 stars! I never have this kind's positive experience with any construction projects. read more

Sunlux has been amazing from beginning to end. Their customer service and professionalism has been top notch. I worked with Chris (sales) and Danielle and Berlyn (project managers). Chris was very knowledgeable and followed up with me while the paperwork was being completed and once the project was completed. Danielle and Berlyn assisted with the project and the installation. Sunlux has been an amazing from start to finish. We had an excellent consultation and build for our system based on our past year with the electric company. Everything that followed was on schedule and delivered as promised. We had an excellent project manager that kept us informed of a few schedule changes. (Current state of affairs and rain). Please do yourself a favor and do not e have in business with this company. Please see it for yourself and try calling them. They only have sales people answering phones and have no customer service. I created a service ticket in early June and they told me 3-5 business days to get in touch with me and set up a visit. Don't take my word for it and try it yourself. They only respond to new potential clients. It's almost July and Lorena (the person that sent me the email with the ticket confirmation) keeps ignoring my emails (I am on my 5th email today). It is imposible getting a hold of someone so please do yourself a favor and do your Solar with a reliable company that has a customer service dept that can help you when your solar system stop working. read more

I was overall very happy with SunLux's service and installation of my solar system. Great customer support throughout the process. Got an initial estimate very quickly. The on-site audit took nearly 2 weeks to occur, seems like they should hire more of them. After the on-site audit, received the layout on my roof. Because I have a TV dish, I asked them to change it so there was access to it. Two iterations iteration (couple day turnaround each time, seemed kind of slow to me) captured my desires. After that the installation (one day) and inspection happened the next week. Great to see my meter going backwards! Would highly recommend SunLux for solar installation. They also have a great warranty with guaranteed power for 25 years. read more
