We recently got our roof done by Hart Roofing and I am very disappointed with the work and service. We decided to hire Hart Roofing because of the high reviews we read and initially the interaction with Mr. Hart was good. We told him what we wanted and he issued us a quote we accepted. Although the pricing was high, we didn't mind too much because we expected quality work. This was not what we got. I am so upset with the quality of work I wish we would have just hired someone else and start over. However this can't be done. These are the issues we have with the work and communication with Hart Roofing. 1. He initially told us that the work would be done in one week, it ended being two weeks. That is not too big of an issue but it leads up to... 2. The workers would show up at our house at 7:30 or 8:00 am and leave for the day by 11:00 or 12:00 pm. This obviously prolonged the work time frame. 3. When our new roof arrived which was a Wednesday, it sat on our driveway for two whole days. Friday afternoon my husband called Hart to ask what was the hold up, Heart said they were waiting for the equipment and asked if they could work over the weekend. 4. When the roof was finally up, Hart said they will have a clean up crew to clean all the trash and nails. This did not happen. 5. We are finding all kinds of nails and broken roof tiles on the ground and roof. 6. Looking at the roof from outside, we can see broken tiles and nails with also metal pieces on the roof. My husband took pictures. We called Hart to ask about the broken tiles and nails and he said he would get someone out to fix the broken tiles and clean up the mess. This was Monday morning. We are now on Wednesday and no call no show still. I would not refer Hart Roofing. read more

I had a leak around the chimney area that I just started to notice this year. I contacted them and they have been quick to schedule a estimate in about a week. Wayne did the estimate in the morning and been helpful in explaining what would need to be done. I also got the official estimate the same day and Wayne did call me before he sent it to explain things that are different from what we previously talked about. The estimated cost is reasonable. I accepted the contract the following week and Hart called me to let me know I would be scheduled the week after. I called the week I supposed to be scheduled since I didnt get a call yet and looks like I was missed but Hart made sure I was taken care of with the original timeline he mentioned and scheduled me that week and job was done in one day. The roofer that came(I believe his name was Philly) is very courteous and professional. They made sure the area is clean after the work is done. I noticed I few things later that day that I wanted them to check again. Hart sent me the final invoice the next day. I raised my concerns and he sent them back to address my concern the next day. I reached out to Hart about a leak after the recent rains. He promptly set up a time to come look. He did an inspection and helped me with finding a solar person (Will, great also) to remove panels as leak appeared to be under there. He gave me a reasonable quote. When removing panels noticed a broken tile (likely source of leak) I called Hart and got advice from him as to what to look for under the tiles such as rotted paper etc. in the end he wasn't needed but appreciate his honesty and not worried about making the sale. This business has been somewhat unresponsive concerning follow-up. I had reached out for service on two occasions. The first time involved a single shingle that had broken and fell off my roof. I spoke with a gentleman who appeared to be mild mannered and easy going. I really appreciated the kindful tone and honest response. He explained over the phone that the company normally does not take on small jobs, but he would squeeze me in when he had a little time. He also told me where to go and buy a tile so that the company would replace it. I attempted a few follow-ups via text, one of which he answered and advised me to still be patience. Cool. I remained patient. After that I attempted to contact the company via text a couple more times, but never received a retun communication. I wrote it off, understanding that the company may be really busy, and that the job I had requested was small potatoes for that company. No problem. I moved on and contacted another company and received service. A few days ago, I discovered water stains on my bedroom wall. I recontacted this company based on the kind response concerning, tone, etc., coupled with the mostly good company reviews, coupled with what I thought was a great personal history statement from the owner. The company promptly responded early in the morning via text, stating they had dispatched an estimator to my residence. However, no one one showed up to my home. Toward the end of the day, I sent a follow up text. However, no one responded. The roof damage is a fairly expensive repair per another local company. I decided to go with that company, Still, I am disappointed with the poor customer service. My time too is valauble. After he received pictures, he decided to respond to me saying to text him a week later to, again, ask for an estimate request. If your business is "sooooo busy", just tell me. No need to be rude. I called Hart Roofing to request a quote for roof maintenance on my home. The roof is in good working condition but is over 30 years old, and needed some attention to seal vent pipes, replace a few cracked tiles, secure a few loose tiles, reseal rain gutters, and a few other minor concerns. I was impressed that when I called for the quote the owner, Hart, answered right away and set up an appointment for a quote. Hart did tell me he would be out of town on the day of the quote and would be sending Ben. I found this company on YELP and I felt very comfortable speaking with both Hart and Ben. A short storm came through with a period of heavy rain and strong winds which caused a roof leak. I called Hart Roofing which quickly responded and gave me a reasonable estimate to do the work. The only thing I needed to do was remove the solar panels in the area. I tried to arrange this with the original solar company but I was getting the Texas 2 step from them. With more rain on the way, I was in a bind. Luckily Hart knew a guy who could do the work and arranged for him to contact me to work things out. The solar panels were removed, the roof was repaired in a single day, and the panels are back on. It has been raining pretty good lately but I no longer have a leak. At first, Hart seemed like a nice guy that would be good to work with but I should have listened to my gut feeling that told me he may be hiding something under his initially seemingly quiet demeanor. His personality before we hired him was totally different than it was after he was given the job to do over $20,000 of work replacing our roof; which, included uninstalling our solar panels and reinstalling. His true colors really came out! I had to ask if I was speaking to the actual owner Hart because it was that drastic of a change in his personality. I would compare it to having to deal with a narcissist personality...nothing is ever their fault and you are to blame for everything! That is exactly what if felt like; which, is something no homeowner should ever have to go through! When my husband and I brought up concerns about the tiles not looking right on our roof, Hart was anything but easy to work with. It was a stressful experience when you are spending that type of cash only to have the contractor become extremely difficult to work with. He spoke down to my husband and I like we were stupid. All he had to do was explain to us calmly and respectfully how it works. Hart hung up on my husband while my husband was still talking to him. He has been in the business a long time supposedly and should have known that homeowners are not contractors and it is okay if they have questions and concerns. One of his priorities should have been to reassure us that we are not getting ripped off but instead, he escalated our fears of getting just that! When it came time to pay them I told his daughter Amber that I would need a hard copy receipt and she said okay. Her father Hart, came to pick up the $21,000 check but he had no receipt with him. He instead wanted to email it to us. We did not feel comfortable doing that because Hart lost our trust when he became difficult and agitated with us when we had questions about the tiles. So of course we said we would need a hard copy receipt first before we gave him the check. I guess his daughter did not like that, and assumed we had a printer at home, because she sent me a passive aggressive email the very next day after they had deposited the check. Honestly, I think any wise person would have done the same exact thing we did. I mean really, who expects a homeowner to hand them a $21,000 check without a hard copy receipt? It is not our fault he did not have the receipt to give us in the first place. He is a business owner and he should have known that it is his responsibility to be prepared. And, I am still trying to figure out the "few extras for free" that his daughter said they gave us. Maybe she is confused and meant that they double charged us for the removal and reinstall of solar panels. Or maybe she means they charged more that the initial quote prices that were give us. Perhaps she meant that Hart lied to us and said the roof replacement would take only one week but ended up taking three weeks instead. He did pay us back for our electricity usage pass the one week after my husband called him out on his blatant lie. How a contractor who has been replacing roofs for many years does not even know how long it really takes to replace a roof means that he lied to us just to get the job. Maybe that is the "few extras" Amber is talking about. Wives if you don't want to loose nights of sleep thinking about if you are getting ripped off then look else where.
