Ambiance is cool, Served people was trying hard and food wasn't my thing that's my opinion probably the seasoning little sensitive for me.

So boom! Like most restaurants we were unable to be seated until all members in our party were present. Once seated we waited about an hour before the waiter took our drink order and then waited an additional hour to receive our drinks. Thank goodness the drinks were good but weren't worth an hour wait. I ordered a Spicy Mango Chow which was pretty good. However, the food arrived nearly 2 hours after we ordered and was brought out one plate at a time in 10 -15 minute increments. There was a live DJ who did his part in keeping us entertained and slightly distracted from our hunger. I ordered the Trinidad Chinese Salmon with broccoli and plantain. The Salmon was soft and seasoned well, the broccoli was fresh, and the plantain... well they ran out of plantain but they did find some and it was sweet. Ambiance is nice. My husband and I visited on 4/14 around 7:45. It wasn't that busy upon arrival. Be mindful, there are two doors. One is obviously an entrance and the other is just for ambiance. Unfortunately, this isn't clear to some dunce people. Lucky for us, we were seated right where the "door" was. Several people thought it was the entrance and there were several people who just thought they'd walk over me and my chair until I had to give the bombastic side eye. We ordered the jerk wings for the appetizer. Chinese salmon with coconut rice and cabbage. My husband got the fried chicken with garlic mash and garlic broccoli. I also threw in a side of plantains last minute. We also ordered the sorrel and rum punch. About 20 minutes maybe more without drinks. Instead, the plantains came first. They took the plantains back and then brought the wings...then finally the drinks. They had one man working as a server. At this point it's packed with a giant party of children. It was chaotic. The food was good, similar to the sugar cane restaurant. Nothing special but nothing to complain about. Overall, the amount of waiting and trying to get our waiters attention was frustrating. The hype behind this new restaurant that was a subset of Sugarcane was misleading not only to guests, but the food that was unjustly disrespected. If sugarcane was Cinderella Sugar'd would be the step sister that needs to be put up for adoption. Immediately. There was nothing magical about dining through excessive noise served with xenophobic behavior and watered down with inedible food. It created a chaotic and hypertensive atmosphere that has no business in a restaurant. I stated that I was not drinking for religious purposes and was questioned, ridiculed, and then served a drink that included alcohol despite multiple prior notifications. Then the exorbitant bill was brought to the table with a excessive gratuity charge. The only gratitude that I had was that this experience was finally coming to an end. Although this restaurant just opened, I suggest prime shipping the ingredients to sugarcane and letting spreadhead the cooking. Worst restaurant I've ever gone to. We arrived at 2:30p and received our food at 5:45p. I had the chicken and waffles, and with every bite, I had to take a sip of my drink to wash it down. The Waffles were like eating sand paper. Drinks alone took 40 mins to get. They forget orders and don't come to check on us. It was a horrible experience, and I would never recommend my enemy to go. I went to Sugar'd for the first time to celebrate a friend's birthday and I must say that the service was the worst I ever experienced at a restaurant for large groups. The party was a group of approximately 16 people. We started to arrive at 7:30. We were seated around 8pm. Here comes the issues....We've waited 1 hours for someone to take our drink order, another hour to receive our drinks, another hour to take our food order. At approximately 11pm the food slowly started to arrive. However, 2 guest didn't receive their food until most of the party finished eaten and 1 guest didn't receive his food at all. Then the waiter ask him "did he order?" I almost lost my mind. At approximately 12:15 am the waiter returned with his food in a DOGGY BAG to go!!! The man said, "I ordered my food YESTERDAY NOW I DONT WANT IT!" As a result, we all couldn't eat together during the celebration. During the event, guest wanted to reorder drinks, but the waiter never returned to check on us so ordering more dinks wasn't an option. I requested to order food to go but the waiter told me NO. The cake arrived around 12:30am with no plated, utensils or a knife to cut the cake but we improvised. The waiter returned with containers so eating the cake wasn't an option. We left the restaurant around 1am. Shame on the Management for not knowing how to properly service large guest or providing additional support for the waiter. I will not be returning to Sugar'd and it's so sad because my food was actually good. Maybe they should not offer large group packages and stick with small dining or takeout. read more

I visited this restaurant with a large group of about 15 if I recall correctly and I must say the staff was completely friendly and professional. I'm sure we were overwhelming as a group but our table was ready on time. It was a busy Saturday night so we did experience some longer wait times on food and I noticed we were served water until requested and when the bottles of water arrived at the table we weren't given cups. The food was pretty good I would say 8 out of 10. I was so hungry I didn't snap a photo but the shrimp was heavily seasoned. Everything else as great especially the plantains. I would love to revisit this restaurant with a smaller party. I think the quality of service would definitely improve. However they were very accommodating to all of our requests. Also, it was a complete vibe. Dj was playing Caribbean music and they bar was lively, the drinks were delicious. The bathrooms were clean and pretty. Decided on a whim to try this restaurant and it did not disappoint. The food was delicious. For appetizers we had bachannal shrinp w plaintains and wings and they were flavorful. For entrees the oxtail tender hower a bit greasy, the stew chicken was a hit with rice and peas. My friend had the jambalassie snapper n shrimp and was not impressed. I had the sorrel margarita and it was not the best, hopefully on my next visit it'll be better. the ambiance was welcoming and cozy. Nothing was really good about it. It was the first time I had rice and peas that was salty, the jerk chicken tasted more like rotisserie with no spice and the plantains were nowhere near ripe. I'm not the type of person to write reviews but this experience merits one. We got to the restaurant at around 6:40pm on taco Tuesday and sat outside since it was a nice NY summer day. The server who took our order seemed to be rushing and took our menus away after we had said we might order some more tacos later. Ended up ordering 2 margaritas from the Happy Hour and 4 different types of tacos. Food was brought by another server at around 7:10pm with only ONE napkin and no drinks in sight not even courtesy water. Ate our food with no water and splitting the ONE napkin in half. The other customers around us were having a similar experience so they went to get the manager. Manager came out after 15-20 minutes, did not acknowledge any of us directly and just asked "who needs drinks?" (with the biggest attitude). We said we still didn't had our drink and he said "they're coming". Drink got to the table at 7:40pm. Almost an hour after ordering. That was the first time we had seen our server since he took our order. The other server just brought the food and left. Never saw him again. No server came outside to check on any of the tables for almost 40 minutes. Additionally, the customers that were at a nearby table informed us that they had to get paper towels from the restaurant greeting booth because they also did not had napkins. Are you ready for the 411? Here we go...I have always been a fan of Sugarcane so was excited to hear they opened a new location, Sugar'd! This new location is in the heart of the Caribbean community in East Flatbush. The spot is absolute beautiful and they did a great job in transforming it from the previous lounge that was there. Parking is TIGHT so I would advise to Uber or carpool. The aesthetic and ambiance is beautiful. This was their launch weekend and actually Day 2 so kudos to them. The Spicy Mango drink was everything, between the three of us, we had 8 drinks! It was tasty with a mango zing! If you are a sweet drinker this is the one. The snapper was perfect according to my husband and the oxtail was fine but a little more seasoning. The mango bacchanal shrimp was an excellent appetizer, I cleaned off my plate! They even surprised my daughter with a birthday sorbet and they did not even have a dessert menu yet. I see this spot as a great hangout location with friends and family. This is a new spot from the owners of Sugarcane. My friends and I stopped by for Sunday brunch. First off the decor is beautiful! Very modern and colorful. The drinks were good and strong. They have bottomless options available for brunch. The wings and shrimp were good appetizers. I got ribs but I wish I had gotten something else. They weren't bad just a bit dry. I do wish the menu had more traditional Caribbean brunch options. I felt like I was eating dinner. Would love to see some things like porridge or saltfish. But we will definitely be back. My experience at Sugar'd was horrible. We waited TWO HOURS TO BE SEATED, EVEN THOUGH WE HAD A RESERVATION. it's sad that you support a black owned business and this is the experience. I've always loved Sugarcane restaurant so when I saw on TikTik that they opened Sugar's d I made a reservation ASAP. My reservation was for 930pm, but I was running late due to traffic. At 9pm we contacted the restaurant and informed them that we were running later and will get there 20 minutes late. We arrived by 10 pm and were told our table will be ready in 10 minutes, we didn't get seated until 11:55 pm (the only reason we stayed was because it was my sister's bday). They finally took our ordered at 12:20 pm (keep in mind that we got in the restaurant at 10PM), we got our meal around 12:45 pm, five minutes after getting the food I tried to order a drink & was told the bar was closed, there was no warning, no last call, NOTHING. The food was decent at best, I'm Jamaican & their Jerk Salmon is more akin to BBQ salmon, the Rasta pasta was not good, and the Trini Snapper was horrible, one of the guest wanted brown stew snapper, but it wasn't available, instead the waiter recommended that she tried the "trini snapper" after receiving it she didn't like it, she asked to switch her entry & he said no, there's nothing he can do. Food overall was a 2.5/5 That wasn't the worst part we were then charged $100 for gratuity 20% when we pushed back because of service, we were told that it states on the menu 4 or more people get charged 20% & they don't care about how we feel about the service (I'm not exaggerating this is what the waiter said). Service overall -3.5 I HUMBLY PAID THE BILL KNOWING THEY'VE LOST 8 CUSTOMERS FOR LIVE. BLACK OWN BUSINESSES NEEDS TO DO BETTER. I will never go back. I have no problem paying hundreds of dollars for my meal, but if it's worth the price. Sugar'd is charging Luxury prices for PROJECT quality service; makes sense it make sense. read more

I found nothing I could complain about. They messed up our reservation but that was rectified in minutes. From the food to the drinks deelish! I had oxtails, Mac and cheese and callaloo. My friend had the double surf! Girl the Trinidad double surf was amazing. There was 4 of us and we all went home with a version of it for take home! The space is beautiful! Went to a birthday party recently and was confused with service, pricing and hospitality. Every time I asked for something the response I got was...no we don't have that. On a Saturday night you don't have things like "food" listed on the pre-fixed menu. Literally, "can I have plantains for my side." "Sorry, no we don't have that." Can I get a bag for my carryout items?" Again, "no we don't have anymore bags." What they did have was time to bill our party for 10 extra people that weren't in our group! My wife was told our party was billed for the estimated number of guests we were suppose to have. I totally get having to pay for taking up extra space and paying for extra food that should have been prepared but we paid for food we never got! When our server was asked, "if you guys are gonna bill us for the extra people then where are our extra entrées?" You guessed it the response was... we are sorry our kitchen is closed." Affordability isn't the question here fair and friendly service is. You don't always have to have an aggressive person in front of you with a weapon to get robbed. I really want to love this place but I can't. The food is just ok. Nice staff and it was really cozy inside but the food isn't great and the cocktails were just ok. I ordered rum punch! They used a different rum which clashed completely with the punch flavors. It did not taste like the rum punch I am use to. They need a new chef and to change up the signature cocktails!
