    Coconut margarita and sorrel margarita
    Cheri G.

We Came for taco Tuesday. Pros: they serve $5 margaritas and they offer diff flavors coconut, passion fruit , sorrel , guava and there isnt a upcharge for the flavors. I ordered the sorrel and passion fruit both were very good;nice strength to it. The better flavor was the sorrel. The decor was nice modern and stylish. The music was good nice caribbean vibes. The 1 server in the back was nice but because it was just him and the place was extremely busy, he didnt get to check in with us much. Cons: you are required to order a appetizer per person at the table in order to partake in the $5 margaritas. There is a woman seating people but she is rude. Her whole aura was off. The menu says you MAY be charged gratuity, however they absolutely charged 20% gratuity to our table of 2 bill. Overall: we ended up ordering the tacos you get 2 to an order. I did the jerk chicken my friend did the fish tacos. We shared. The portion is filling. The flavor ehhh... the fish needed a little salt and the jerk needed some authenticity. It really was grilled chicken with a jerk bbq sauce on it lol. The tacos were a cheaper option then forcefully ordering a appetizer just to be able to partake in the drink special.

Entered through the back (the GPS said the entrance was on that street..it's not ), and it took a few minutes for me to be greeted and escorted to the bar in the front. Once seated, the experience began Food - crab cake 5/5 snapper 5/5 drinks 3.5/5. A lot of things are spicy (it's Caribbean food) so just let the servers know your preference and they'll take good care of you Service - server was phenomenal. Took awhile to get service, afterwards the Asian gentleman ensured I had all I wanted Ambiance - FUN! FUN! FUN! Great music and nice people at the bar that I socialized with! A solo date worth my time money and energies!! This was a birthday gift to myself and I'm happy I came. 2 thumbs up and will return and highly recommended

Wow. Idk if I came on a good day, but they had a $65 dinner for two. Two appetizers, two entrees, one dessert & two wines per couple. I had to ask three times & two different people to make sure I was hearing right and they didn't skimp on the portion! I was so stuffed I had to take the coconut bread pudding to go and half of my salmon/mashed potato entree. The four jumbo shrimp with sweet plantain & a green tamarind sauce was fulfilling & delicious. The Prosecco was perfect with a dried orange slice, making the whole experience seamless. Now the food came out so quickly that I almost wondered if it was pre-made but I wasn't complaining. Servers were nice, colorful space with two TVs near the bar and a back room for overflow. I'll definitely be back. And oh yea, don't come if you don't like soca. Gave it a festive atmosphere and I thought it'd be great for an upbeat brunch.

The ambiance is cute. I got a guava lychee rum drink in a purse glassware. It was very good. The drink is cute and it came with a sparkler and fruits inside. However it cost over $35. The music was good at the place. Many large parties were celebrating birthdays. My boyfriend had oxtails, mashed potatoes, and cabbage. the oxtails were delicious and that mashed posttoes were so buttery and garlicky. The service took quick a bit to get our food over 40 mins to get our food. I highly recommend coming here with a reservation because they do get busy.

Super cute spot! I didn't get a chance to try the food because the bar was packed, but the happy hour drinks made up for it. Huge shoutout to the bartender in the back he was so warm and welcoming, and every drink he made was spot-on. I'll definitely be back to try the food next time!

Trinidad Chinese Salmon with Garlic Mash and Mango Slaw

I always see this place in passing but happy I was able to try it out. The star of the show is the Mango Slaw. It was very rich, seasoned and fresh. I truly enjoyed my experience. The Salmon and the garlic mash did not disappoint. Will definitely go back. It has a great happy hour, 5-7pm and 10pm till close. The vibe fits Flatbush.

Glass Purse Drink. (I forgot the name, but it's the only drink you need.

We had a few drinks and shots at the bar before diving into our delicious food! The drinks, food, the ambiance all passed the vibes check! We will be back.

It was suggested by a family member to spend my birthday at Sugar'd because of their great food. I'm happy that I decided to come here because my family and I had a wonderful time at Sugar'd. I love the gigantic colorful planters outside of the restaurant. The decor outside and inside of the restaurant was very nice especially the back of the restaurant. We opted to dine outside because the weather was wonderful. Caribbean music was playing through the speaker which we enjoyed during our dining experience. Service was absolutely fantastic and professional the entire time. They made it even more special when they knew that I was celebrating my birthday. Everyone enjoyed their drinks and I loved my virgin piña colada. Let's get into the food details. Oh my goodness, we all enjoyed our food very much. Everything that came out looked spectacular and delicious. I loved how most of our main entrees came out together so we can eat together. That was cool. Most of our dinner party ordered the braised oxtail. It was delectable. I haven't had oxtails which tasted that good in years. It was so good that I was still looking for my meat in my stew after I finished the last oxtail lol. Both of my sons ordered shrimps and they both enjoyed their meals. The staff brought out my birthday cake with sparklers and sang to me for my birthday which was really amazing. My birthday was extra special because of the service and food provided by Sugar'd. Thank you Sugar'd for a wonderful birthday experience. I will definitely visit again.

The ambiance is nice and the food is good my issue is with the service Took my 14 yr old son to treat him to a birthday dinner , he placed our order and we waited for it to be brought to us. The drinks were non alcoholic pina colada that were served in glasses , the appetizer were brought out after and the waiter accidentally knocked the entire drink into my son's lap. He had on a brand new Nike black track suit and the drink was a milky drink added to this the glass was broken and fell over him and the table . I cleaned my son up as best as I could and we were relocated to another table and apologized to. We ordered a drink each an appetizer each and dinner meal each and he wanted cake obviously for his desert . My son is one who don't like loud scene and is easily embarrassed , he begged me not to act up and I obliged as it was his birthday and I didn't want to spoil the day. As we left in the 10* weather ( yes it was the night before the big storm ) my son tried putting on his gloves only to realize that his hand had gotten cut from the glass he also complained of his legs being cold and splinters in his shoe... we would only know of this after the fact of leaving because we sat for the entire time. We live a few blocks from there so we walked home and I called the store and asked for the manager. I reiterated all that transpired to him and he said he was aware that a drink was spilled but not the details of the spill ... I asked him now that he is aware what can be done because this was a place that was recommended to me . He proceeded to say that I already paid and he can't retract the payment so I can come again with my son and he can get a complimentary dessert or appetizer. I was pissed at this time because it's not about the money it's about the principle involved . I said to him you charged us for every single item including the drink you spill on him as well as a 20% gratuity for the horrible service the least you should have done was to waived my son's meal . It was his birthday - you ruined his new outfit - he got injured on his hand from your broken glass that your worker broke and he had splinters in his shoe and wet clothes to walk through very cold temperatures. It's was A TOTALLY HORRIBLE WAY TO TREAT A FIRST TIME PATRON WHO BROUGHT HER CHILD TO CELEBRATE HIS BIRTHDAY . I was told the owner of the store would call and it has been a week now and Charmaine has not reached out to make amends or address this ... UNACCEPTABLE for you as a BLk owned business to treat the community patrons who support you. The manager at the time which is her son is rude and dismissive with no empathy or consideration... totally unconcerned and nonchalant acting like he is busy while I'm trying to explain logic to him ... DO NOT SUPPORT THIS PLACE! ....HORRIBLE HORRIBLE

I decided to check sugar'd Every dish was bursting with bold aromatic flavors. you can taste the authenticity in everything bite, bringing the spirt of Trinidad to life on a plate. The star of the show was the jerk wings had the perfect amount of spice & a ton of flavor. The drinks here are absolutely outstanding! Each cocktail is perfectly balanced, with unique flavors that are both refreshing and bold. All it takes it a few sips of one drink to have you feeling nice. The vibes were definitely there they had a great song selection. Whether you're savoring a decadent dessert or enjoying a beautifully plated entrée, Sugar'd offers a one-of-a-kind dining experience that feels both sophisticated and fun

Sugar'd impressed from the start with their thoughtful reservation confirmation call. The gorgeous interior and welcoming staff (shoutout to Alex and Kyron!) set the tone for an amazing evening. Every dish delighted: Flavor-packed jerk wings Fresh shrimp with zesty mango slaw My buss up with extra chutney was divine Flawless service, fair prices, and incredible flavors - already planning my next visit! A true hidden gem.

All of the staff were super accommodating and very friendly. The ambiance is really nice. You can definitely celebrate a special occasion there. Everything was absolutely DELICIOUS! Especially the crab cake that came with Mango chow! The oxtail, rice and peas were seasoned to perfection and my favorite side was the potato salad! I need the recipe. The sweet chili shrimp was good as well! I will definitely be back to try more items off of the menu.

I came here this past weekend for a birthday brunch with friends! The indoors is very nicely decorated with lots of light bright colors and gold accents. We checked in for our reservation and went to the back. FYI, there is a front room and a back room. The brunch menu is pretty simple, however, keep in mind they don't have a bottomless option. So we opted to do a rum punch pitcher and the jerk wings to start. There was a delayed timeframe in which we got water and the rum punch. We received the wings first before the water and our rum punch. The rum punch was good, there could've been a bit more punch in it. When it came to the timing of the food it was pretty on point. The wings were extremely delicious. The meat fell off the bone and they were seasoned well. As a lover of spicy food, the spice is there, so if you aren't someone who can't tolerate spicy food, maybe have them tone it down for you (if possible). For my entree, I had the calypso fried chicken and waffles with a side of macaroni pie. So, I will say the sauce on the chicken is soooo good! I requested dark meat, and my friend ordered the same thing (without a request), and his chicken portion was a bit more than mine. In addition to this, my waffle was a bit soft. The macaroni pie I was a bit disappointed in, it did taste good when dipped with the calypso sauce. The chicken carried the meal. I tried a bite of the mango shrimp which was very good as well. We ended up getting these complimentary shots that were a combination of sweet, spicy, and a bit strong. There were a bunch of emotions behind the shot, but I enjoyed it. Then came the birthday cake! The presentation was cute! It was a chocolate lava cake and it was pretty good! I just felt like the cake was falling apart a bit too easily. I saw there were comments about no large parties for brunch, I can confirm that I did see one this past weekend, I hope that clears up some of the misunderstandings. Vibe/environment wise. I was informed that it does get turnt, and I went in expecting a party brunch. The music was a bit low and the crowd was mainly sitting around having conversations. I'm not too sure if it was the day, but the setting was more date-like. Everyone was polite and smiling and our waiter was great at checking in. If I would return? Only to try the dinner menu. (This is a 3.5/5 rating )

It was sort of an odd time so the spacious restaurant wasn't very busy. We studied the menu for too long and after much deliberation, here's what we ordered, in order of spice level: - Oxtail ($35): Not spicy, super flavorful, "Trimmed and sliced chunks of oxtail seasoned freely with fresh spices and simmered to tender perfection." - Curry goat ($29): Mildly spicy, "Goat meat marinated and cooked in curry spices and herbs makes this an exotic dish." - Jerk chicken ($20): Apparently incredibly spicy so I steered clear of it, "A Jamaican delight. Spicy, delicious chicken baked with this unique combination of spices from the island." The dishes I could handle were excellent, with no drop of sauce left unmopped. On the sides front, the rice and beans, roti, steamed vegetables, and plantains were all tasty. The entree sizes were hearty. Our server seemed like a cool dude: easygoing with a sense of humor. It was kind of chilly in the restaurant, not sure if we were in a warmth dead zone or what. The bathroom was frog-themed which was a cute touch!

We flew in from Los Angeles and truly made it a full wedding week experience. I planned the wedding myself, so I had been communicating with Joel for months leading up to the event. We reserved the Champagne Room, which felt like its own beautiful oasis. As a Jamaican-American woman, it meant so much to know my disabled mother would feel culturally comfortable, welcomed, and safe in the space and with the food. From the moment we arrived, the staff was warm, attentive, and calming. Our server especially helped ease my nerves while we were finalizing seating and guest details, and after that, I genuinely did not have to worry about a thing. And the food? Absolutely incredible. Truly perfection. As a vegan, it meant so much to fully enjoy every part of my wedding meal without compromise. The rum punch was fantastic, our guests loved the open bar package, and the entire evening flowed so seamlessly. The aesthetic is pure island luxury -- elevated, warm, vibrant, and beautiful. The communication from the owners and management team was excellent throughout the entire process, and I even had the chance to finally meet Joel at the end of the night after months of planning together, which was such a lovely touch. I was also able to personally thank the chefs. We even accidentally left my bouquet behind, and the team kindly helped us retrieve it the next day. There were people celebrating their birthdays throughout the night - and the wait staff goes IN! I was enjoying watching at least 10 people receive the Stevie Wonder "Happy Birthday" song while we were there. Imagine my surprise when it was my turn! My birthday was the day before, and we had already celebrated in Manhattan. Having two special recognition events made the evening that much more special! Shout out to the Simpson crew who came with the song, the rhythm, the sparkling cake, and the good vibes! My 70th birthday was exceptional - without a doubt. The Simpson added the touch I needed. We'll definitely go back next time we're in Brooklyn!

Nice spot serving traditional Jamaican dishes. I know the other restaurants in Brooklyn, but this…read morewas my first time visiting this particular one. Upon arrival the restaurant is very clean, and the service was fast. There is a dine in area as well. The woman who took my order was very patient , and personable. I ordered a brown stew fish, cabbage and 3 small soups. Everything came out to about $49. The chicken soup was very good . The cabbage was also very good. The fish on the other hand was very salty and not worth the $20 charge (fish with no sides). I get it the area etc etc but for the price the food should be top notch. The other establishments are much better. Would I return.....I don't think so .

Escovitch fish meal which came with plantains, rice and peas, and spinach. Everything was still warm and tasty when I arrived home. The order was packaged nicely. Definitely, nice portions for the prices. Place is clean. Staff is friendly, informative, and service was amazing. It takes about 10 minutes for the fish since they make it to order. I will soon be back and may have them do some catering orders for me( usually order from the location on flatbush). Pop in if you ever get in the area and want some hot warming food.
