Wow. This place is amazing. Service was incredibly friendly, from the minute we walked in, we felt welcome. Our server was absolutely amazing. The food was delicious and priced very reasonably. I had a western omelette, and it was easily one of the best omelettes I've ever had. And it was HUGE! The restaurant is also very kid friendly. When we left, both kids were given rubber ducks. Anyhow, love this place! UPDATE- During breakfast, the lunch menu looked amazing so we went back for lunch. It was even more AMAZING. Let me just get to it. We had the blueberry pancakes and Mexican omelette and both were excellent. The omelette was huge and I'm glad we decided to share our meal because neither of us finished half so the Whole surely would've killed us, lol. It was fresh, fluffy and jam packed with chorizo, sour cream, cheese topped with salsa. The pancakes are their signature dish and rightfully so. I love a good blueberry pancake and only know of one place that meets all of my criteria for deliciousness... UNTIL NOW! my regular spot back home would have stiff competition because these were the best blueberry pancakes ever. The perfect density and just enough blueberries so the pancake isn't overpowered. Served with warm maple syrup and butter - nothing is better. At Sugar and Spice, the food is fine (3.5 stars) but the personal attention they give their customers is what earns them 5 stars. When my little guy was in half-day pre-school, I would take him and we would sit at the counter. He would order Hot Chocolate with endless whipped cream. Lol. Well, yesterday he (now 10 years old) was feeling nostalgic and asked to go. Grub: I only ordered breakfast food (I can't bring myself to order anything but when I visit a diner) so my review is specific to that. The pancakes were delicious. I prefer my pancakes very thin, so if you like them big and fluffy, you may not be a huge fan. Everything else--sausage, bacon, coffee-- were of normal diner quality and I scooped em right up. The scrambled eggs, however, were outta this world..and not in a good way. They clearly had some premade mix or something because they were pretty bad. This place is small and appears to always be packed. We were okay with this. It was loud, my kids were restless with waiting and we were very excited to finally be seated after waiting an hour. We ordered the slaughter house 5, 1 chocolate chip pancake and coffees. I waited and waited and after seeing a couple that ordered after us leaving I grabbed a waitress. It had been 50 minutes since we ordered. It's obvious they lost the ticket and no one paid any attention. They apologized and said they'd get it right out. It was all luke warm and obviously not freshly made. How long would we have sat there if I hadn't spoken up and gotten back the eye roll in return? My fiancé and I came here and it was our first breakfast stop in Ohio. We are from Miami and we heard this was the place to check out. Amazing service and the breakfast was good. I haven't been here in about two years so when my husband woke up this morning like let's go I was like great! I want a new ducky anyway. We get there at like 8:40 and there were people waiting but we were sat right away at the bar table type area. Greeted immediately (no surprise there). I ordered a make your own omelette with a bunch of veggies and cheese with a side of hash browns. My husband got a gyro omelette with a side of two pancakes, and both our entrees came with a a WELL buttered English muffin. My meal was good and very large. The hash browns aren't super flavorful but I mean it's potatoes and I normally mix mine with my omelette as I eat. I basically cut everything in half and boxed it up so I could have an easy breakfast in the morning. My husband ate all of his food and enjoyed it. I forgot how thin their pancakes were but I'm not really a pancake person so I wouldn't order them anyway. Unfortunately I didn't get my duck but whatevs, that's no biggie. So first time here and was loving the character of the place. We were excited to see what we were in store for. From start to finish it was 2 hours which I am willing and happy to experience if the whole package was a knock out of the park. Unfortunately it was not. We ordered build your own omelette my friends omelette was missing the cheese so only had the meat. The restaurant did try to correct with making a new one which we greatly appreciated but they rushed it and the omelette came out with cold shredded cheese not melted in the middle. Didn't want to send it back again so just eat the meat and called it a day. The server knew it wasn't up to the standards so we were treated with brownie bites and the manager was kind enough to comp part of our bill. The restaurant did right to correct this issue. Will return to hopefully have an experience like everyone raves about on yelp but unfortunately our first time was not that. I always try to support local businesses when visiting a new city and had hopes for this place. However, it was not to be. We waited for half an hour to be seated, with no information about how long our wait would be. We were finally seated and promptly ignored for five minutes or more. We fetched our own menus from nearby. Random staff members were shuffling around not really doing anything. Food was piling up in the pass. One of the non-server staff members got us some of the most bitter coffee I've ever tasted, but couldn't do anything more for us. Our waitress appeared, took our order, and then vanished. We waited for an hour. No food. Nobody checked in on us or even acknowledged us. More food piled up in the pass, and we saw other people sending their orders back - my guess is the food was either wrong or cold. Servers appeared apathetic when they were visible at all. We left without getting to taste anything, and saw our waitress and other staff smoking at the back of the place. We drove to Bob Evan's and had hot coffee and biscuits in front of us within five minutes. Don't waste your time here, no matter how cute it looks, until they sort out their service. read more

There's obviously no synergy across the team working here. The decisions being made or the lack of make no sense. There also feels like there's some underlying drama going on that's leaking into my experience and I honestly feel unsafe. Today was my first time at Sugar n' Spice, despite having lived a half mile away for 7.5 years. Friends have been urging me to go for a long time. I had an appointment that was later than I thought so I decided to stop because it's National Pancake Day. I was seated right away in a very tiny booth for 1 person! Just what I needed. I was able to read through my school stuff as I waited for my food. The restaurant was busy (which is always a good sign) so I was gladly surprised when the server came to take my order right away. I ordered their breakfast meal with 2 eggs, 2 pancakes, and a side of ham, bacon, or sausage (I ordered scrambled eggs, 2 chocolate chip pancakes for an extra 50cents, and bacon). I then proceeded to work on homework. My food arrived and it wasn't as piping hot as I thought it should be. It was a huge let down for me. Although the bacon was cooked just the way I like t (I don't like my bacon too crispy). The pancakes were huge and yummy! I would definitely visit Sugar n' Spice again. Most people would think this is an unassuming place, based on the name. However, the outside is painted pink and the inside has a lot of knick knacks to admire. Blueberry Pancake - This is a thin pancake which I usually don't prefer, but this reminds me of my mom's pancake, just gave me the feeling of home. Serving size - Huge, they are very generous. The homey interior matches the vibrancy of the exterior and together ultimately provided a very enjoyable brunch experience. Sugar N' Spice has a small space to work with, but they make the most of it with an open area in the middle for the waitresses to move around. It is primarily counter seating. We were quoted about a 20 minute wait when we arrived Saturday mid-morning, but we probably didn't wait half that. It's a cramped waiting area, so that's good. However, it was kind of downhill from there. It took forever for our orders to come out. We waited well over a half-hour to get our food, and I was feeling downright hangry. Also, it was a chilly fall day, and they apparently still had their a/c on, so it didn't help to have to sit their shivering for that long. The waitress kind of acknowledged that it shouldn't have taken that long, but she wasn't especially apologetic. My husband had a Greek Omelet, which was very large and flavorful. I had the Banana Pancakes, which are light and thin with a cinnamon flavor. An employee regularly walked around with a plate of samples - brownies and mac and cheese bites. This was a nice bonus - however, me being the germaphobe I am, I couldn't help but think that it would have been nicer to distribute these in a way that didn't have customers just picking food up from a communal plate.
