    Scallops

We dined with here two weeks ago, and I can't stop thinking about the sweet chili lime prawns and the arugula burrata salad with an egg wash. I already love arugula, but the egg wash gave it a nice texture and made it easy to eat. As for the mains, my husband had the pork and I had the scallops. I think the scallops were cooked perfectly, my only gripe was it came with crispy polenta, that I felt could have used more flavoring. as they were rather bland compared to our starters. The decor is very simple and stark. My one other gripe was the chairs. I have a lot of cushion in the tushin, and my buns were aching after sitting in those chairs for a couple of hours. Perhaps, a simple fix would be to add some colorful cushions to add some pop to black and white decor. We did end on a very high note with a delicious lemon chiffon cake with a lemon/lime curd. It was beautifully presented and had just the right amount of sweetness.

One of the top 10 meals I've ever had and service was a team effort and spectacular! We had the ribbon carrots with whipped ricotta and prawns with lemon grass and honey chili as starters, and the scallops with crispy polenta, local mushrooms,basil/oregano foam; and Gnocchi with braised short rib, porcini, preserved heirloom tomatoes, and pecorino for the main course. All were exceptional. Next time we are in the area, we will be back for sure.

WOW AMAZING SERVICE AND FOOD. Very REASONABLE price as well. Highly recommend the lamb and truffle ice cream. The lamb was very rich and delicious. Very seasonal and fresh ingredients.

Easily the highlight of my Newberg work trips, Subterra offers some of the best food and wine in town. Not the cheapest place in The Berg, but a great place for a date, group gathering, or just to grab some great, fresh food and Oregon wine. The long and short of it: 1. Wine. You're in Oregon wine country after all. So start, compliment or finish your meal with a bottle of Oregon wine (or all 3, I don't judge). Subterra has a great list to choose from, both local and not. They list pairings for each dish, but don't be afraid to ask your server for recommendations. I would (and have) come back here just for a glass of wine even if I had already eaten. 2. 1/2 Price Wine Night. Tuesday. Go on Tuesday. Is it Tuesday? If yes.... then go. Bottles are half priced and lets be honest.... you're getting that bottle of wine you've been eying. 3. Food. The wine might be the champion of Subterra for me, but the food is nothing to forget about. Each entree comes with fresh bread, a choice of soup (black bean or their rotating offering) and a salad. Can't say I've had a bad course here but the scallops and black bean soup really stood out. I look forward to sampling the rest of the menu in the future. 4. Service. I've been consistently wow'd by the service here. Every server we've had has been upbeat, helpful and just kinda fun to talk to. It really adds a touch to an already great experience and it doesn't go unnoticed. 5. Atmosphere. Underground and upscale homey, Subterra has a perfect intimate date atmosphere. The acoustics lead to it being a tad bit loud, but not nearly so much that it's hard to hold a conversation. 6. Price. Subterra will run you a pretty penny at around $30 an entree before wine, but it makes for a nice date spot and is well worth the price in my opinion. Stop being so cheap and live a little. Newberg is growing on my a bit, and Subterra is a big part of that. The price of the menu is more or less the only thing preventing me from coming here daily, but not enough for me to not make it a once per week affair. Can't wait for me next trip back to Newberg )never thought I'd be saying that) and to Subterra! Overall Grade: A- (A+ on Tuesdays)

Lovely time (our first time visiting Newburg and SubTerra Kitchen.) Really a pleasant surprise and a hidden gem. Every dish is tasty. Thé restaurant was busy, so the service was a little slow. Will def recommend this restaurant

    Scallop entree. Very disappointing

This winery recently opened in the first floor of the Dundee hotel. It's closer to 99W so when you come in from the parking lot, you will pass a couple other wineries. This is one of five wineries and a restaurant that is in the first floor of the Dundee hotel. Our server was named Kalina, and she was so nice and personable. She had recently come back from working in a winery in Australia. I was impressed with her knowledge of wine, but she explained that she started working in wineries back when she was just 15 helping with events/weddings at a family friend's winery. She had worked at several wineries even though she was just in her twenties. The winery itself also had lots of charm and was very calming with the soft pink furnishings and relaxing sofa and chairs. The design was on point and chic. We enjoyed all the wines. Kalina even gave us a small bowl of gourmet popcorn to compliment some of the wines. I definitely will come back to this spot for another tasting or a glass of wine. Our server also said that on the third Thursday of every month they do complimentary pours and have either live music or artists at the various wineries in the building as part of a collaborative art walk within Dundee. Currently the wine tastings are $30 per person, but if you are a guest at the hotel they have a BOGO special. This winery is definitely a special spot to check out if you are planning a day trip to Oregon wine country. This wine tasting was definitely a highlight of my summer. Reservations and recommended, but definitely not required - and the experience was truly lovely.

Great spot for a date night, special family celebration dinner, or catch-up with good friends. Loved the elderly couple who came for drinks and dessert only! First starter was the clam special in white, smooth broth with leeks, served with two big slices of crispy focaccia. YUM. I didn't think 25 clams would be enough to fill me up, but I was wrong, and this special was great. Second starter was the duck confit salad, and the duck leg was cooked perfectly, skin on. Husband liked the matchstick apples and cherry vinaigrette but thought the blue cheese was overpowering. First entree was the king prawn pasta alla vodka, and the noodles were overcooked - fastest way to kill a meal. Prawns cooked perfectly, but the noodles were mush in an otherwise nice sauce. Husband and I both loved his butternut soup, drizzled with good quality EVOO and rich texture. Curious what other ingredients they use (or where they get their butternuts) because their soup was WAY better than anything I've made at home. Dessert was fab: lemon mousse topped with vanilla pavlova. We saw another table order one of each dessert, but their lemon mousse went first, which sealed our decision! Would recommend for anyone passing through Dundee - just skip the pasta.

Well first the pizzas are an average $30-$40 for a 12" or 16". We don't mind paying a premium if the product matches. This wasn't the case. They advertise wood fire pizzas, that's not what we received. On the way out I looked into the kitchen. I could only see the normal pizza ovens. The pizza did not have the classic bubbling and slightly burned spots as a wood fired pizza has. The pizza we rated at a 6 and that's a generous number. I ordered the bbq chicken pizza. Well I thought I ordered it with chicken ? I rejoiced when I found one lonely strip of flavorless chicken, the pizza was not crisp , loads of sauce and a bit on the sweet side. Usually if there any leftovers, I will take it home. This time , I forced myself to eat what I could and left the rest. Two others in our group had similar experiences. One of our party ordered a sandwich, we believe the salt shaker cap must of came off because all she could taste was salt. The good which is what pushed the rating to a 3 star. Is the customer service. My friend is handicapped and they were very accommodating to him. The beer was nice and cold. Doubtful we will back. There is a house down the road with better pizza
