They are a pleasure to chat with as you have a drink at the bar, happy hour or not. Except yesterday they were admonished not to talk with us so much although it wasn't busy, so I guess we will not be going as much anymore. That really saddens me, but they hired someone new I think that's more about efficiency than begin as attentive to customers, especially us older ones with stories. Great spot for a date night, special family celebration dinner, or catch-up with good friends. Loved the elderly couple who came for drinks and dessert only! First starter was the clam special in white, smooth broth with leeks, served with two big slices of crispy focaccia. YUM. I didn't think 25 clams would be enough to fill me up, but I was wrong, and this special was great. Second starter was the duck confit salad, and the duck leg was cooked perfectly, skin on. Husband liked the matchstick apples and cherry vinaigrette but thought the blue cheese was overpowering. First entree was the king prawn pasta alla vodka, and the noodles were overcooked - fastest way to kill a meal. Prawns cooked perfectly, but the noodles were mush in an otherwise nice sauce. Husband and I both loved his butternut soup, drizzled with good quality EVOO and rich texture. Curious what other ingredients they use (or where they get their butternuts) because their soup was WAY better than anything I've made at home. Dessert was fab: lemon mousse topped with vanilla pavlova. We saw another table order one of each dessert, but their lemon mousse went first, which sealed our decision! When you visit the Willamette Valley, do not miss an evening at Trellis. Not only is the food and drink excellent, but you'll get the best service around. Their management genuinely cares and makes sure you're enjoying your evening. We visited on Sunday, August 31st and shared the Ceasar salad and short rib stroganoff. As we had been tasting wine all day and nibbling on food most of the day we chose to just share these. My wife was "wine burned" so I had a glass of Purple Hands Pinot with it. The Ceasar was excellent as you could tell the dressing and croutons were all made in-house. Delicious. The short rib stroganoff was AMAZING. So delicious we at every bite and nearly licked the plate clean! Do try this entree as you won't regret it. It's a darker sauce but not thick and not too much sauce. We then saw on their dessert menu something called "Summer Cake". We had heard about their pastry chef, Caydee Porter, as being outstanding. So we tried it. OMG. This cake was truly unbelievable. It was a cross between cake, and cheese cake with berry compote. Drizzled with a lemon syrup, topped with blueberries and a flower. So light and delicious and beautiful, we're still talking about it a week later! If they're still offering this be sure to try it. We're not big cake people, but this is beyond cake! Incredible dining experience! The food was delicious. I had the Albacore tuna melt with trellis fries. Our server, Gabriela was phenomenal! She took such good care of us - consistently checking in, refilling drinks, and making recommendations. She was an absolute delight and one of the best service experiences I've had. The food is incredible, upscale design to the menu with lots of elevated classics. I got a steak sandwich - basically a french dip - and swapped the fries for some tomato soup. The sandwich was delicious - the peppers were super fresh, the steak was well seasoned, the aioli was bright and rich with flavor. Really loved it. Would absolutely get it again. The tomato soup too was great too. My wife got a pesto sandwich and some sweet potato fries. These were both awesome too, really really good. My husband and I wanted a yummy lunch to celebrate our anniversary and it was a gorgeous sunny day so we headed for Trellis. We did not have a reservations but on a Monday at noon there were open tables. We chose to sit outside in the sun. We ordered seasonal lemonades - pineapple and prickly pear and they arrived quickly. Refreshing and tasty - I loved my pineapple, the prickly pear was good as well just not as sweet as the pineapple. Our lunch was the turkey pesto sandwich, short rib stroganoff, the special strawberry salad, rosemary focaccia and for dessert the cream brûlée with a lemon bar . The stroganoff, strawberry salad and crème brûlée get a solid 5 and out 5 on quality of ingredients and flavor and portion. The focaccia felt short as it didn't have a rosemary flavor and the sandwich and fries were average, something I could've made at home. We ordered sandwiches for the table. Waitress was competent. 45 minutes later there was still no sign of our sandwiches. Inquires we're made. Turns out they had failed to communicate to us at any point along our 1 hour experience that they were slammed. I had to call and beg the next vineyard on the agenda to delay our visit, which DDO was kind enough to accommodate. Food was great. They comped us some fries for the table and discounted our meal so that is why this is not a 1* review. At the prices Trellis charges, the quality to price ratio is not favorable.
