Visiting the first time, it's a small wine bar with limited parking, but was encouraged by the extended outdoor, covered seating they offer, especially since it was pouring rain. The staff was very friendly and went out of their way to go from inside to out in the rain. Not only that, but I can always appreciate when a restaurant puts their customers first. My pasta carbonara was just a 3 out of 5. It was so over salted and the tiny bits of asparagus were over cooked so didn't add the pop of freshness this dish needed. They serve with a raw egg yolk on top for you to mix in - not how you make carbinara. I left half behind even though I was super hungry. My friend had the pork chop and after one bite, I immediately knew that I ordered the wrong thing. The large chop was perfectly cooked and was so juicy and flavorful. Served with grilled peaches and brussle sprouts it was the perfect fall dinner, enough for two. Wish we had sat outside because in the main dining room the noise volume was unbearable. WOW! What a great find! With so many great restaurants and winery in the area, it can be hard to decide where to go. This is a wonderful and delicious place to check out. We can on a hot day, 93 almost outside, and initially sat outside on the patio. We had to move inside because the asphalt made the weather feel 100 degrees. Our server graciously helped us adjust and was a doll. We ordered the truffle fries and that was our favorite, best thing I ate in awhile, omg, I want them now. After a great wine tasting in Newberg, we just needed a little something to eat. So we found Trellis on Yelp. Got the mussels, as an appetizer, and the french dip sandwich to share. The mussels were fantastic! The broth was lite and balanced, not salty with a bit of acid. And it had lots of savory bits of leeks and guanciale! Mmmm. Kudos to the chefs for cleaning the mussels! No gritty sand when you take a bite nor stringy beard! The focaccia bread was perfect with it too. The portion was not disappointing and quite generous! Like I said, we had come from a wine tasting so we weren't 'hungry.' But I'd say its the perfect size for someone's entree. We didnt even try the french dip bc we were so full. But we took it home for later. Overall, we were super happy with the mussels, but thought the menu was overpriced. Much of the menu was sandwiches and nothing sounded extraordinary. Salads also looked pretty standard, nothing special for the price. Granted we didnt try too many dishes, so the 3 star rating is solely based on my impression of the menu prices. Fast forward a couple months.. We hired Trellis to cater our outdoor wedding last week and it was everything we could have asked for. The food was AMAZING (everyone in my family wants the mushroom sauce recipe and sun dried tomato aioli recipe (I think that's what it was? ) the service and servers were incredible and so so helpful throughout the whole evening. One of my friends texted me the next day saying "that was the best tasting chicken I've ever had in my whole life" and she wasn't wrong! Haha. We really wanted to like Trellis. We were told that Trellis was one of the best regional places to eat. We had a reservation and were seated promptly at a table in the patio area but not under the main tent. It was an OK table. Our server appeared shortly and took our order. We both ordered a cup of vegetable beef soup which was delivered to us quickly in about 10 minutes. The soup was very good and nice pieces of beef in it along with the vegetables. After that everything went downhill fast. We decided to get the chicken chipotle sandwich which came with soup as one of the choices. However, we were told that we COULD NOT have the soup since we had already ordered it and we could go without the side but we would be charged anyway. We didn't argue..it wasn't worth it. The sandwich came 45 minutes later and was dry and overcooked. It came with a salad that was extremely over-dressed with a gluey blue cheese dressing. It was not edible.
