Great food and service yesterday at the Newbergundian Bistro. We had been at Stoller for our spring release, and wanted to find a new restaurant to try. We are glad it was the Newbergundian Bistro. We had to start with a Croissant. It was very flavorful, but it was bit soft, not the perfect crunch that we love. The fresh squeezed grapefruit juice made an excellent greyhound. The Bistro had my favorite...Escargot as a special. WOW. So good. We then shared the Potato Croquettes. The accompanying fondue was so good to dip the Croquettes into. We finished with a Ham and Brie Sandwich that was excellent, accompanied by crisp and hot french fries. My wife had the Grilled Five Cheese Sandwich with Mixed Greens. She loved it. Traci was terrific and helped us throughout the meal. read more

Great brunch at this new spot today! Small restaurant with limited tables. We started at the bar, which was not comfortable for my mom but eventually we were able to sit on the patio which was great. Potato croquet appetizer - yummy. The cheese, pickle, mustard and croquettes go together as one perfect bite. I got the open face Ruben. It was delicious. I tried the grilled cheese which my sister got too - yummy, but there's a sticky cheese on there that I didn't love. Greens that came with all items were weird. Didn't eat them - don't know what they were. read more

The food quality remains the same delicious. It's getting better on price came down a little bit believe it or not. Seem to have turned over the entire staff to a previous from Generations on Sherwood. Guess they were hungry for work because they were all over the service. Chef is on his game. The food and the specials now seem to be worth the price and not starting high. A good place to eat for sure. It's a little tight but they work with the space they have. Outside heated seating available. Now that the sun is out might be even better. A nice neighborhood joint with the quality expected on Newberg read more

Such a great find! We loved it! The server was wonderful and knowledgeable about the menu. Food presentation is beautiful. Reasonable pricing and it is tasty. They make great use of small space and feels clean. It's an opened kitchen concept but there is no greasy smells flowing to dining area. Give it a try, you may love it too read more

As a result of a wrong turn, I ended up finding this little place. My dad had the traditional breakfast and I had the ham and Brie sandwich. The smell of fresh baked croissants greeted us at the door, along with a beautiful hostess. The dining room was cozy and inviting. The staff was attentive and charming. The owner/chef whipped up beautifully plated meals with no fuss. The fruits and vegetables were fresh and delicious. The coffee was strong. It was the perfect respite after our early morning airport drop off. They had a lovely selection of wine. It was a very happy accident. I hope to be back. read more

Went in with a friend to catch a quick dinner. The food and everything was great with one exception. There was a waiter named Andy who had a bandage on his neck and kept touching it. It bothered us so we mentioned it. Turns out Andy is struggling with two types of cancer while trying to raise an 11-year-old daughter. when he came and explained his situation, I dropped him a Grant. I hope you can support Andy and his daughter as well as the restaurant. read more

Stumbled on this place while traveling to McMinnville for work and was really glad I did. Sat at the bar and had a great experience with the server and chefs, Scott and Don -- super friendly and gave solid recommendations. We started with the bruschetta, which was fresh and flavorful. I got the pork chop, cooked perfectly and packed with flavor, and my partner had the burger, which was just as good. Great food and great service -- I'd definitely come back. read more

What amazing service! Our server made us feel right at home! We stopped in after a wine tasting fundraiser otw back to Portland and this little quaintly decorated with indoor and outdoor seating was the perfect spot for the 3 of us. My husband had the special which had rabbit, my friend had wild mushrooms over goat cheese on crusty bread and I went with the eggs Benedict which is always a go to for me when it is just past lunch and I hadn't had breakfast. Very hearty portions and we plan to go back and tell our friends about this amazing find! read more

I ordered the Hash Special and was not disappointed. It not only was delicious, but very filling. Hat's off to the cook who put this concoction together. When the plate was delivered to the table, the visual presentation was superb. read more

This was a really nice stop for brunch. We were welcomed warmly and seated promptly. There were indoor and outdoor seating options and stayed inside for this visit but outside looked comfortable too. Our server was knowledgeable about the menu and the local area which was great. My ham and Brie sandwich was just what I was craving and was a good way to fortify for a day wine tasting. My spouse enjoyed the eggs Benedict although he did ask his be prepared without tomato because apparently that is just wrong in his world. They had no trouble with the modification. This is a great spot. read more

This restaurant is deserving of its 4.6 star rating. Food is scrumptious. My son had the fish and chips. Halibut was flaky and light. Cole slaw was delicious. My wife had the halibut special. Served on a potato croquette with beets. The combination was delectable. I had the cioppino - tons of halibut, shrimp, mussels and shrimp is a rich tomato wine broth. Truly outstanding. Our waitress was very nice and made some great suggestions including the persimmon sorbet dessert. It was served with ginger beer and an apple turnover. Original and very refreshing after a nice meal. The decor has a French leitmotif and the kitchen is open so you can see the cooks at work. Nice atmosphere. Overall, a wonderful experience and I would highly recommend this nice French bistro. read more

Menu is just big enough and just small enough. If you see a large menu, and respect yourself and your wallet, leave. Excellent service, solid takes on some regular menu items and just creative enough in an intimate little restaurant. I've only been here twice, but weeks apart and super happy each time. read more

The Newbergundian is my go-to restaurant for lunch and always my first stop to settle into the Willamette Valley. The by-the-glass wine menu is approachable and well-curated, with highlights like Archery Summit bubbles. The food is consistently delicious, and the crème brûlée is absolute perfection. I truly appreciate that the chef is hands-on in the kitchen, working alongside the team to prepare each order. My daughter loves the kids' menu, which makes dining here enjoyable for the whole family. We often order food to go as well--it's perfect for road trips when dinner options are limited. Highly recommend this welcoming, quality Gem! read more

A great find!! We stopped in for a lunch and were treated to a very cordial staff. The menu was filled with some great choices. We had the ham and Brie sandwich, and the turkey sandwich. Also shared the beet salad (OMG! So good). Kids got the chicken lunch with fruit. The food was extremely fresh and so very tasty. The ham hock salad was to die for. You can really taste the smokiness of the ham. All in all can't wait to go back and try some of their other dishes. read more

Fresh, perfectly prepared meals that can't be matched! The Chef is a great guy and his dishes are always consistently yummy! How many restaurants allow guests to watch their meals be prepared? Says a lot about a restaurant that you can set at the bar/chef prep area and actually see your dinner and thoughtfully and carefully prepared. The menu is short but sweetly delicious! I've never once had a weekly special item from the Newbergundian that wasn't mouthwatering! Newberg has a winner in this restaurant! Well worth the drive from Portland to Newberg! read more

Tried this place out recently and it was great. We showed up close to closing but they had no problem seating us. The inside is a cute French cafe vibe. For the kids menu, they were able to give us a side of fruit instead of veggies so my son appreciated that. This place was oozing with charm. I was pleasantly surprised as the way it been described to me was it was a dive, but I found it adorable. We dinned inside which had an open kitchen and exposed wood beans. I had looked at the menu multiple times prior to dinning there and had been craving the squash croquettes in a curry sauce which is just what I got, and it was full of flavor, and very filling. I was full for hours after. The staff was very efficient as I was on a very short lunch break, so my husband ordered ahead and as soon as arrived my food was on the table. read more

Found myself in Newberg on this spectacular weekend in October and discovered this place on Yelp. Had a delightful early dinner outside on their patio. Enjoyed a nice glass of Bordeaux, a nice salad and opted for their special today: the Bouillabaisse. It was fabulous! Full of seafood. Full of flavor. What a terrific start to my exploration of Newberg! Just started a new Yelp collection for nice places in Newberg. This one is first on the list. I'm looking forward to coming back and trying more from their menu :) read more

This used to be a favorite stop when coming from PDX to pick up seafood at Nw Seafood. But this is the second mediocre meal and poor service in the last three months. We won't be back We each ordered sandwiches with salads. The sandwiches were nothing special. The cheeses on the grilled cheese weren't melted and the sauerkraut on the Rueben had soaked the bread into a soggy mess. The salad greens were wilted. On top of that the service was really bad--more interested in talking to each other than providing service. Never checked in on our meal and had to go stand at the counter to get a check. We won't be back. read more

A must place to go if you are in the area (or not). Customer service was fantastic. There were so many yummy options, but in the end, we got their soup of the day, crispy chicken sandwich, and the manila clams. The star of the show was manila clams bathe in a butter/wine sauce with lemon zest, leek, and ground meat served with some crispy garlic bread. It is absolutely delicious and perfect for a party of two or three. The crispy chicken was very crispy topped with homemade coleslaw. The only thing I wish it had was some spice. I am not one to eat spicy food, but I think a nice dry spice rub on the chicken would provide great depth to the flavor and complement the side better. Otherwise, I will definitely come here again and at the very least order another bowl of manila clams...or two. read more

When I ask my wife to go out, she always says the Newbergundian. When I walk by the tables and see what they have been served there isn't a single thing I wouldn't want to eat that night. The atmosphere and the people add a lot to why isn't local experience but a world class one. read more

I had a favorite-fish and chips. Yum!! It was a chilly & sunny day with bright sun. The enclosed patio was so bright and warm! Only one thing warmer and brighter was our server, Taylor! Friendly, helpful and full of enthusiasm. Each time we go, the food and service is very good. read more

We came here on a sunday morning and we loved it. First off our server rocked. Thank you Matt for the good service and fantastics recommendations. We shared the avocado toast and then we each got a menu item. The food was DELICIOUS. We left full and happy. We sat outside on the patio which was a great choice. The patio is awesome. Inside is a tad small but they do a good job trying not to make it crammed. Highly recommend. read more

What an amazing place! The food was so fresh and it was fun to sit inside where we were watching the going's on behind stage. I say stage because what was going on was like the best performance ever and we were just part of the scenery. We tried the Ham and Brie sandwich, the amazing Croc Monsieur salad. We topped it off with the crème brûlée which has those tiny strawberries you find in France that are an explosion of sweetness in your mouth. Our server, Sierra was on top of her game. Noel, one of the co-owners answered questions about the history of the place, and made us feel so welcome! I actually asked to see the menu again so I could start planning my next meal there. I watched a very quiet interaction where someone from a nearby table ordered a Cesar salad but didn't know the dressing has anchovy (really?) in it and the server was so kind and immediately responded and took the plate away and brought something else. What service! The man next to me ordered the daily hash, and I almost stuck my fork in it! Oh, I can't wait to go back! I wish I had taken photos! read more

this is suchhhhh a cute spot to come to! i got the steamed muscles + Cesar salad and it was amazing (they put anchovies on the side so you to put as many as you please) this spot reminds me of a setting at the beach and the chef personally brings you your food (at the bar only) it was a great experience i would come again if in the area. read more
