Bc she is a somm, I told her I had a question about a wine... with a nasty attitude she told me to ask someone else. WTH? I did absolutely nothing to this woman. I was in complete shock. Needless to say, we never went back and it's now been 4 YEARS. But now that they're finally selling, we just might give the place another shot. Looking forward to the new, and hopefully not petty, ownership! And yes, I agree, the food wasn't great either. I finally got the opportunity to try SG. I usually make decisions on ratings, and word of mouth. Therefore SG was on my list. We were a group of four on a Saturday night seeking pizza. Well first the pizzas are an average $30-$40 for a 12" or 16". We don't mind paying a premium if the product matches. This wasn't the case. They advertise wood fire pizzas, that's not what we received. On the way out I looked into the kitchen. I could only see the normal pizza ovens. The pizza did not have the classic bubbling and slightly burned spots as a wood fired pizza has. The pizza we rated at a 6 and that's a generous number. I ordered the bbq chicken pizza. Well I thought I ordered it with chicken ? I rejoiced when I found one lonely strip of flavorless chicken, the pizza was not crisp , loads of sauce and a bit on the sweet side. Usually if there any leftovers, I will take it home. This time , I forced myself to eat what I could and left the rest. Two others in our group had similar experiences. One of our party ordered a sandwich, we believe the salt shaker cap must of came off because all she could taste was salt. The good which is what pushed the rating to a 3 star. It's all new all over again. Some of the old favorites still exist. They will always have their crowd. Many different nights. Trivia, bands , open mike. Used to host Timber games seems to have changed no more gear up anyway. Still large cooler for take out. Menu changes often even the actual menu itself. Not a huge disappointment. They have standard beer hall food. It is a beer hall. Seating is rearranged as much as the menu. You sit with other groups as part of long picnic tables. There are a couple more intimate tables. Not necessarily date seating more already established couple seating. My least favorite the come to the counter order be asked to tip before service is rendered. Food comes out quick and it is presented well. Taste leaves a little to be desired. Stick with pizzas. It's okay. The beer variety and wine selection seems to be their hook. Is it better to have a large amount of mediocre beer or a smaller selection of good beer ? You can decide read more

Horrible management. They are rude, and treat homeless people as if they are a burden to society (even though they CHOSE to move in next to the drop in center). Plus their drink price is scammy. Went here tonight with friends to see a musician. I have to say pretty disappointed with how things went with communication with service from staff. My friend ordered a 16 inch pizza and 15 minutes later their buzzer goes off to be told they are out of the dough for the 16 inch. They were told there was only 12 inch pizzas left, my friend told the server they would have that and just give them a free drink to make up the difference because they already paid for the 16 inch. The owner then comes over and gets an attitude with my friend. They said the pizza tasted like piazza from luncables. My wife and I ordered 2 mixed drinks that were small and mediocre at best. We also ordered 2 beers and jalapeños poppers(2 1/2) that were cut in half. Our bill was $66 with tip, I know prices have gone up on everything. But that's ridiculous for crappy service and rude owners. How this place gets voted for best of Newberg is beyond me. I don't even know where to start. It's really noisy above and beyond the normal. There is a play area upstairs, and the dining room is both upstairs and down. Kids are running amuck up and down the stairs screaming. It was stressful and not relaxing. We stopped by for a fundraiser sandwich called the melt down. We have participated every year since it started. We ordered at the counter one sandwich with bacon jam and soup. We were overcharged for our sandwich and the "added" bacon jam and cup of soup ended up driving the total to $28. The soup was cold and the sandwich mediocre. I felt embarrassed after ordering and did not question the cost. I did tip 20% even though it was counter service. Won't be back. No comment necessary from the establishment owner we already had words over social media. read more

What an adorable place. We were not super hungry so we were only looking for a little snack and this was the perfect option. It has a store in the front with only a few tables in the back with a bar. We opted for the pretzel bites and tomato soup. I can't think of a tomato soup I have enjoyed more. It was creamy and delicious and came with a swirl of olive oil. Perhaps that is what made it so delicious. The pretzel bites were adorable, and instead of coming with a cheese and mustard, it came with a cheesy mustard sauce, which was also yummy. The staff was so sweet and eagerly awaiting to assist. If you are wanting something simple and delicious I highly recommend this place. read more

This place is comfy. Incredible selection of craft beers, both in bottle and on tap. But what really gets me excited is the selection of ciders they typically have. It's difficult to find a pear cider in this town, for whatever reason, but when I've dropped in here they've had a pear cider available on more than one occasion. Our daughter brought us to this place in Newberg as we are big fans of trying local establishments as well as Detroit pizza (being from the Midwest originally). Sadly, we didn't enjoy the experience very much. There wasn't a tremendous crush of folks but the behind the counter staff seemed to be having trouble coordinating and operating more than one till at a time. Seemed to be weaving in and out of each other's way and I watched a couple of the staff pouring shots of wine to test it out while there's a line of folks waiting. And sadly, what they serve isn't anywhere close to Detroit style pizza. Detroit style is done in a darkened pan with very thick crust and crispy, crunchy cheese all around the edges. That's the hightlight/ best part of Detroit style. What we got was a doughy pan pizza thing with bland sauce and the dough in the center not quite done. We ate some of the toppings off and left most of it. Would have mentioned something but again the till staff seemed slammed even with just 4 or 5 people in line. Stopped in on a Sunday. Food & drinks were fantastic but the kitchen service was awful. We waited 45 min for a quesadilla. My husbands big Cobb salad was brought out right away. We had asked the bartender twice about my quesadilla and she said "we just fired it". My husband was done with his salad already. It was ridiculous that they brought one meal and the other took so long. They didn't apologize either. That's dropping the ball on hospitality and service. This place has an amazing selection of beers and kind staff but their female owner is unhinged. She shouldn't be the forward facing person for the business, it's not a good look. She is rude, abrasive and should just say no kids allowed and get rid of her play space. It's misleading that you have an area for kids to play but yet want them to sit and be quiet and not have fun. You must not have young children anymore and forget how kiddos play? Needless to say, if you want to take your family here, don't! I've been wanting to stop by here since I moved to Newberg a couple months ago, and I'm so glad I finally found the time! We got beers and the pesto chicken quesadilla. It was tasty! The best food I've gotten out in Newberg, except for the now-closed Honey Pie (only open in McMinnville now, *weeps*). Lovely, open environment with plenty of people but didn't feel crowded. I don't have kids but the kids area was nice and I imagine families really love that. Loved the seating options downstairs and upstairs. Great selection of beers. Food was great! Tons of beer and cider selections. They also have more in the coolers you can grab if you don't find something you want on tap. Today they were out of brisket so we changed out food choice on the fly. They had my favorite Helvatia "Son of a Peach" Cider so I was very happy to grab one of those on this hot day after touring the Lavender farm. We had to order the Jumbo German Pretzel. It comes with cheese and stone ground mustard which is always a great item to snack on. Next up, the loaded Jojo's. They were also pretty good but not fully loaded because they were out of brisket. They had bacon, cheese and red onion atop perfectly seasoned crispy potato wedges. We wanted the brisket sliders but instead ordered the hot Nashville chicken sliders which came on toasted Hawaiian rolls. I'm a wimp when it comes to heat, so that was all for the hubby after one bite from me to confirm the level of spiciness. The corn dip was tasty but the chips to dip ratio was wayyyyy off. That didn't stop us from devouring the cheesy goodness but there were a lot of chips wasted. Definitely a must try if you are sharing with a group or add a second dip and you will have plenty of chips. Cute little spot in downtown Newberg. Popped in on a Sunday afternoon for a quick lunch while en route to the airshow. We ordered one chef salad and one ham and Brie sandwich, with a simple substitution of honey ham for the usual smoked ham - I don't like smoked products. The salad was delivered after about fifteen minutes and my husband started eating. It was over twenty minutes later that my sandwich was brought. I think they forgot about it. By then I asked that it be put in a to go bag. In the car I discovered they had used the smoked ham after all. I'm disappointed. On the good side, I met a nice wine merchant from Parra Wines delivering some stock and we had a nice chat. read more

Not sure when they removed the kids' play area, but some communication when we walked in would have been appreciated, because that was our only reason for choosing this establishment. We walked in as a group of six adults with eight small children and stood in line ordering our beers while the kids were asking "where's the playground?" and we all repeatedly told them "upstairs, just a minute and we'll go play" in earshot of staff. Nobody told us, they just let us buy beers and food and walk upstairs to find out for ourselves. I'll give them the benefit of the doubt to say they didn't overhear the kids, but then--what--they thought we decided to go out for a relaxing beer with EIGHT small children just because? A simple "hey, the kids are absolutely welcome but I just wanted to let you know in case you hadn't heard, there's no longer a playground upstairs" should have happened. It did not. To add insult to injury, shortly after we told the disappointed kids "sorry, we'll take you to the park after this" and settled at a table, a staff person came to inform us the upstairs is now 21+ and we needed to move. There had been no sign, nobody else up there and we were bothering no one, instead keeping the disappointed kids occupied with snacks. (As we came down we saw a sign had been hastily placed by the stairs.) We felt like they'd kept quiet just to get our money. We gulped down our drinks and left annoyed, agreeing we no longer have a reason to go there. They had our Wisconsin favorites and classics.
