Personally, I go here to join a group of DnD players in the gaming table section and can confirm the space is accommodating and free of charge so get here early if you want a good spot. They have drop in style games going on also if you're flying solo. Drink choices are mostly soda, water, CBD drinks, energy drinks and once the bar is open really good draft beer choices. One issue we had was when we wanted to check out the TCG section but it is in a separate room with a locked door. We wanted to go in but the employee was busy at the moment so we had to wait several minutes before we could go in. It felt awkward for us as we didn't want to interrupt or rush the employee but after waiting, the employee was kind enough to open the door and let us look around. We got a One Piece pack and while we were purchasing, we were told that they have a rewards program that is free to join so we decided to join that too in case we come back. The prices seem fairly priced so it is definitely a great spot to buy board games or TCGs.

The video game selection is meek if that. With the most variety for new gen consoles XB S/X and PS5 (This would be fine if they didn't price things as badly). The sections for "retro" games are pitiful, with laughable selections. Any game you came in hoping to find, they've either priced it way too high in the glass case, or they don't have it. Serious price gouging overall, this can't be stated enough. It feels like a basement selection of games that nobody wants, or everyone already has. They even offer games that no longer have online services, rendering them useless to the buyer, at the same price as when these games released 5+ years ago. Do those games come with a warning before or after you buy them? At one point I was on the look out for an original Wii controller, when I called the store I got such vague answers. "We might have them" or a long sales pitch on their off branded Wii controllers sold in store (surprise! They are horrible quality and barely catch a read on the sensor bar) Surely they know the quality of these second market controllers they are selling/ promoting? Just a waste of money and time. The main attraction of this store seems to be the tabletop gaming. They have many events during the week, and I think that is helping with the overall traction of people going in and out of the place. It can't be their prices or selection! I truly think this place would be better off just pivoting to exclusively tabletop games, or AT LEAST take "retro" out of the name. He wasn't filming anyone without consent, and he's always quick to stop recording if asked. His goal is simple: highlight unique local spots and give them well-deserved attention. What he does is free promotion--something especially valuable in today's economy. As someone who lives in Portland, I'd never even heard of your shop until his video. I was excited to check it out, but the way the filming was shut down--despite no signs posted and no harm being done--left a negative impression. That said, I want to be clear: I don't want to hurt your business. I want to support it. That's why I was disappointed. Gresham and Portland need more visibility and community support, and creators like Klearski help make that happen. He left feeling discouraged, and I believe this could've been handled differently--maybe even turned into a great opportunity. Your staff was kind, and there's no ill will. I just hope next time, the door stays open to creators who are genuinely trying to help businesses like yours thrive.

My first couple of purchases in August were rocky--127 cards on August 16th and another 19 on August 18th. The orders were bundled (a nice gesture), but the package was never shipped. The tracking number belonged to a completely different customer 1,400 miles away. After a month of emails, delays, and searching for cards that apparently "could not be located," I eventually received about 95 of the 146 cards I purchased and was refunded for the rest. Frustrating, but Shonn made an effort to fix it. Because he tried to make it right, I gave him another chance. I made two more orders in September--no issues. Cards arrived (still slower than any other dealer I buy from), but they arrived. Then came October and November... and everything fell apart again. 47 cards ordered 10/16 32 cards ordered 10/29 31 cards ordered 11/7 A shipping label was created on 10/31 and again on 11/14, supposedly combining all three orders. As of December 8th, USPS is still waiting for the package. Nothing has ever been dropped off. I've sent more than half a dozen emails--ignored. I called. I got excuses again: "I'm busy," "My employee is out," "I'm working on it." Meanwhile, we are approaching 60 days since the earliest order and I still do not have what I paid for. Here's the biggest issue: I don't want a refund. I want the cards I purchased. At some point this stops being "busy" or "backlogged" and becomes unacceptable business practice. I truly do not understand how this shop has a 4.8 rating on 165 reviews, because my experience--twice now--has been the opposite. I will never purchase from Diamonds in the Rough again. And if you choose to, at least go in with your eyes open--because this level of unresponsiveness and delay is not something collectors should have to deal with.
